I had a question about Jelly bean Bom 5.0... When I get an incoming phone call I swipe to accept but it will say who the person is that's calling and to hit 1 to accept or 2 to send to vm. Any idea what that is and how I can turn it off?
You checked "yes this is a question"
Guess where it belongs?

Has nothing to do with the ROM. You set up Google Voice integration. Go to the Google Voice website and change your call screening options.

On my Epic Touch and my mom's Epic when someone calls and we flick the piece to answer it the phone then announces the caller (whose name or number had already been listed on the screen) and then demands we press One to answer. This is annoying for me and confusing for mom, but I can't figure out how to make the phone simply answer the first time we authorize it. Can anyone help me with this? Stock but rooted 2.3.6 on my Touch and unrooted 2.3.5 on mom's Epic.
Update: Apparently it's Google Voice and I can change it in settings. I did search for a solution before posting but didn't find it till now. Moderator please feel free to delete this thread.
Change the [Q] to [solved]. It helps when other people have this problem for reference.
Thanks, how do I do that?

Edit then hit go advanced. Change the title. People frequently ask about Google voice and the call screening.

Go to Google voice settings and pick "ask every time I make an international call and then if you dial any international call, it will ask you if you want to complete the call using Google voice in the dialer. There's no need for it to prompt in the "complete action using" list.
How?
Would you mind sharing how you solved the problem? I am having the same difficulty with my new Galaxy Note 2. I want it to ask each time a place a call but I am not getting google voice as an option in the "Complete action using" popup.
Thank you!

Unfortunately GV does not present itself in that menu the way other apps do. What you need to do is go into GV settings and tell it to offer the choice of Google Voice. Then when you make a call you'd have to tap Phone first, and then a second menu offers whether to use GV. And even worse, you then get *another* menu where you have to tap Phone.
Hello all,
Been with iPhones for 5 years and finally made the leap to my frist Android, that being the SIII.
I love visual voicemail and learned that it doesn't come installed on the droid OS so I downloaded the app, AT&T Visual Voicemail.
I noticed if someone leaves me a voicemail, there is no icon that indicates the number of messages I have waiting (like the iPhone does) which is an issue because if I don't manually check it, I could have messages on there that are days old. I've explored the app to see if it's a setting but can't find one. I also looked into other visual voicemails but don't see that any offer this feature either. Am I missing something here or does this not exist on droid phones?
Thanks in advance and this forum looks awesome!
Download Google voice and set it as the default voicemail number. This phone won't let you automatically set it up, you'll need to go into call settings and change the forwarding options, but its not hard. You can set up a widget on your homescreen that not only shows you the voicemails that you have, it will also transcribe them. But the transcriptions are usually hysterically wrong.

Thanks Harlenm but I can't do that as I use my Google voice number for a real estate business and I get a million calls to my GV so I cannot distinguish personal from business doing it as the way your suggesting it. Just not possible as I need my numbers and vm's separately. Very disappointing that this is such an operation for something so simple.
Thanks again though!

So I want to use a GNexus with Skype and GVoice, and when I use it on a tablet and try to call someone it asks which phone number I want to cal with and I select the skype number and GVoice calls my skype, I pick up on the tablet, then it calls the outbound number. On the GNexus it just says no mobile data network available.
Anyone know how to trick GVoice into thinking (rightly in this case) that there is no phone/mobile network and let me select the number like I can on a tablet?

Just set Google Voice so it doesn't use Google Voice for any calls in the settings.

No change.
On a tablet it comes up with a window asking which phone you want GVoice to call, there is no popup here, I think the setting in GVoice saying don't use GVoice just means have the dialer call the outbound number directly, rather than calling GVoice (which gets a data packet sent to it teling it you are caling and this is the number you want GVoice to connect you to).
What I'm trying to do is essentially get the phone to forget that it can make phonecalls.
