[Q] Answer phone without pressing 1 after accepting? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

On my Epic Touch and my mom's Epic when someone calls and we flick the piece to answer it the phone then announces the caller (whose name or number had already been listed on the screen) and then demands we press One to answer. This is annoying for me and confusing for mom, but I can't figure out how to make the phone simply answer the first time we authorize it. Can anyone help me with this? Stock but rooted 2.3.6 on my Touch and unrooted 2.3.5 on mom's Epic.
Update: Apparently it's Google Voice and I can change it in settings. I did search for a solution before posting but didn't find it till now. Moderator please feel free to delete this thread.

Change the [Q] to [solved]. It helps when other people have this problem for reference.

Thanks, how do I do that?

forward calls to a telnumber, evening to voicemaill when I'm not able to answer. How?

Hi,
I'm looking for a program (cab) for my Touch HD that does do the following:
- during office-hours (08.30 tot 17.30) I want my calls being forwarded to my office, so my secretary can answer the phone there instead of calls being forwarded to my voicemail.
- during the weekend and evenings (non office-hours) I want calls being forwarded to my voicemail (when I don't answer the call of course).
Does such a program exist? If not, is someone eager to produce it?
Thanks!
Axum
I am sure that exist but don't know the name. Try some auto profile search on google.
Why do you want a phone anyway ?

Vanstra,
I want this program to work when I am not able to answer calls, just like you probably use your voicemail as well
Of course, when I am able to answer my phone, I will.....
I'm sure even on older phones (Sony Ericsson three or four years ago) there was a simple way to do this. Not automated, but witha click of a button you could change the call divert settings, so goo luck on the hunt.
You might prefer a more manual approach anyway, so that you can flick the switch as you walk out the office door, rather than find you are working half an hour late and need to cancel the auto-change etc. Might get annoying unless you're on a perfectly regimented 9 to 5.
Let me get this right firstly. During office hours if you cannot answer your phone instead of going to VM you want these calls to go to your secretary and, out of hours you want them to go back to VM?
This is what i get right?
Ok the problem is with phone forwarding you wont be able to get a cab to do this as phone cannot handle this. The only way to this ATM i believe is to change the numbers manually. sorry
nobody has a solution ?
I searched google but I didn't find anything yet, but was hoping (or expecting) that the great people of XDA would know the answer....
Axum
Maybe change the topic of your post to something more informative, then someone browsing through the forum titles may spot it (not everyone's going to click into the thread to find out which special program you're after
You may want to try "AutoFlight v6.0".
Just google for it, 'cause I'm a little in hurry.
Maybe skSchema or Mortscript?

[Q] Google Voice +1 Dialing issue with select roms

Seems like certain roms have issues with Google Voice. I use Google Voice for my voice mail, and with certain roms, when I go to dial out from Google Voice, whether it be using my GV number or my native Verizon number, a +1 is appended to the phone number and I get an error stating the network is busy.
At the moment, I am using TSM Gingerbang Evolved and it works fine. I get the network issue with Virtuous Unity (is the name right?) and more recently with RunnyDroid. I like some of the features of these other ROMS but cant put my finger on what the common factor is that makes Google Voice cause problems with dialing.
I'd like any assistance at all on this.. I think I may have read elsewhere that there are issues with Sense 3.0 and up with Google Voice, but I cant seem to locate that article now.
Is there no way to properly use Google Voice with higher versions of Sense?
Thanks,
-myk

Anybody? Are any other users experiencing the same issue? I read a few posts on random forums where some had the same problem, but no resolution other than trying a different ROM. Perhaps I should change my question..
What Sense-based ROMs have you guys used that still works great with Google Voice dialing out from a voicemail?
Seriously? I can't be the only one experiencing this. Anybody at all? Maybe I'm the only one who uses GV.
Sorry man, I don't use it. I read something about having to pay for voicemail using it one time and just stopped

You're not the only one having this issue. I'm experiencing the same problem as well but I just did the work around and edit the number i'm dialing out to delete the + from the number. It's a pain in the butt if you do it all the time but I normally just "send a text" to that number, edit the number, delete the +, copy and paste it into the phone app and dial out from there. A lot of extra steps but it works.
I'm sure someone will get around to figuring out why this is happening

This bothered me so much over the past few days I finally did some digging and I found a great workaround. It's actually an app on the market. It can edit any number you dial automatically to remove or add whatever it needs to.
Prefixer
By 253°Below
Run the app, Menu>Add Rule>Manual>Outgoing
You can label the title whatever you want.
Make sure the Rule is enabled
Under "When Number Matches" Type this in
\+?[0-9]{7,}
That tells it if a number is at least 7 digits long preceded by a + in the beginning.
During Days>Mon-Sun
From Time> 00:00
To Time> 23:59
Remove Characters
\+[1]
That's it. Try dialing a number from anywhere. Some of my facebook contacts automatically have a +1 in front of them and i'm now able to call without editing the number manually every single time.
THANK YOU!
That was driving me crazy...
thank you very much, this works like a charm and makes ROMs much more usable
Wonder why the devs of these ROMs don't include something like this, as you would think everyone has this problem. It may not be an issue with the built in phone call log, but definitely is if you use Google Voice.
thanks again

Why is Google Voice Doing This?? Two Phones Now!!

Not specifically related to the Nexus, but, on my previous Droid X and now my Galaxy Nexus, Google Voice (I have the inbox widget on my homescreen) always logs my missed calls in the Voice inbox and has a "missed" number for each in there. I have to go in and manually delete these every time.
Yet, in the Google Voice website settings for my account, I do not have " Place missed calls in the inbox" checked!! What the hell?
Can somebody please tell me why this isn't functioning right and how I might be able to make it stop? So annoying.
Thank you.
Well, simple issue isolation tells you it isn't your Galaxy Nexus, since it also happened on a different device.
As a result this really isn't the best place to get help about it. Have you tried the GV Support Forums?
https://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!forum/voice
Yeah I don't think that's a good place to post. Some posts from two + years ago have less than 10 views LOL.
Plus, I searched there and no one else posted this issue yet.

[Q] Android dialing long distance numbers by itself

I would first like to say I am very careful of what i download and 95% of the time I get my apps from the Play store with the 5% from XDA for example flipbook beta and custom ROMs. I don't use any bootleg apps.
Im not to sure what happened. but after looking over my phone bills I noticed that my phone had been dialing long distance numbers that I don't know at random times of the day. Turning my regular cell phone bill from $71 to as high as 177.00 !!! these high bills came in since March. I didn't notice this since I have pre-authorized billing.
These numbers I tried calling and there is no answer.
202-556-1555
504-298-8568
972-676-8006
678-208-7085
678-208-9324
267-507-5581
916-572-2132
313-438-8159
I wanted to know if an app can dial a number without any visual indicators. example the phone call icon that shows up in the notification bar. Has anyone ever experienced this?
Probably a rogue app. And this is another reason not to have auto pay or pre authorized billing.
butter and jelly please...

Wrong.
Go through your applications and check the permissions on all of them. One of them has permission to make calls.
Or flash a stock ROM and make note of permissions for apps you install.
Or get an iPhone. The walled garden sounds like it would benefit someone like you.
Its possible someone cloned his esn number too. Im thinking that's what happened.
Do you use Google Voice?
If you do, any number you dial, GV dials a different number (Google's numbers) to connect the call.
please post questions in the "Questions and Answers forum" for galaxy nexus.
thank you. thread moved.

[Q] Question about SkyDragon and Google Now Launcher

I'm sorry I have to start this thread. I am new at all of this and new to the forum, so I am not allowed to post it in the thread for Skydragon... so, here we go.
I flashed skydragon on my T-mobile Lg G3... i LOVE IT.
Somehow I have google now launcher as an option, I use it on my nexus 5 and really loved the phone call feature where when you search for a location, it gives me the phone number. I thought I would use it but the phone call feature isn't there. It uses the LG phone / calling method.
I tried to uninstall google now launcher to reinstall it to see if it would work. I can't delete.
any ideas for how to get this feature on my phone?
Thanks in advance!
Im not sure what you mean by lg calling feature. When i search for a business it will give the option to call, directions or website. And when i click call it takes me to the dialer and i have to press the call button. What did your nexus 5 do?

Sorry,
I was talking about the google launcher... specifically i was looking for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/themes-apps/google-dialer-t2824937
I tried this and it worked!!!!! SO SWEET!!!!!!
BTW, what it does is straight from the dialer. I can hit the phone button and enter a contact or a business and get the number for the contact or local places... straight from the dialer, not from a google now search. it seems pretty nominal but if you have it it's pretty awesome.
Ohhhhh ive never seen that, pretty cool
