I got my galaxy note 2 and charged it to 100%, when it reached 100% the charger popped out, i was wondering if this is a new feature or due to something entirely different like heat expension

That's a loose MicroUSB jack
And no, it really is a bug, not a feature

Can't tell if serious

Noticed my note 2 charger giving out a soft buzzing sound while charging. Is that normal?

Actually it is NOT at all normal. I own 3 samsung products: Galaxy s3, Tab 7.0plus and Note2. All come with charger and only the Note 2 charger is letting out the buzzing/hissing sound. It's especially loud at night. I called the service center and the girl immediately asked if I am having the white one. She said that this problem has been reported a few times (by Note2 owners) and I was told to wait for a call from the tech side. Not sure what the outcome will be. Hopefully I get a replacement.

Yes, it is getting louder and frankly very irritating. I better get it changed too.

Mine too is loose..not sure why..but if compare to note 1, it is really loose and easy popup if i excidently touch the cable..

LOL somehow this thread cracked me up inside.
OP should treat this as a nice feature and test if it is consistent, i.e., try it couple more times and see if it is indeed a *feature rather than *accident. If it's a feature, it's a feature that I don't mind having on my phone

Certainly not a feature, but I do find it annoying how easy it is to knock the cable out of the socket when it's charging. The microUSB doesn't seem to lock in place like it does with other phones.
I charge my white GN2 on my bedside table each night and never heard any buzzing from it, either.

Problems with touch screen when screen is locked and phone is charging...

Since I thought my phone, I've noticed an annoying problem. When my phone is charging in the screen is locked, I go to unlock the phone and the touch screen seems to have a problem registering my touch for the pattern password.
I would unplug it for a second to draw the unlock pattern, unlock the phone, and then proceed about while the phone is plugged back in. Then out of nowhere, it'll do the same thing.
Anyone experiencing this?

i am not getting that problem, but if you call tmobile im sure they will switch the phone.
I've had this problem - but only when I used a different charger from the one included (even though it's a Samsung charger). Are you using the cable included with the phone?
Yea it has happened on mine but only if it was laying down when i try to unlock it. once i pick it up it was fine

I can confirm this very issue on two GSII's I've used. It's annoying.

This is a known issue with all variants of the Galaxy S2.
The Galaxy S2 is very sensitive to input voltage, and if it doesn't like what it's getting, the touch screen calibration gets a little funky.
Voltage-regulated chargers (ones that are big and blocky or have a bulb on the wire) tend to work well.
Don't bother exchanging it over this, it won't change anything. You just need a better charger.
Yes, I'm using the same charger came with the phone. I guess we will just settle this issue with the fact that it just gets a little funky When plugged in.

better charger yes
phone being sensitive not really
all Properly build chargers will not cause that problem
i purchase cheap 2A charger from Deal Extreme, but those are build good, not like some of the crappo accessories from ebay
BlackBerry chargers works good too
I have the same problem.
As many of you guys said, a good charger is needed for a stable voltage input.
I have no problems charging from the original charger and my desktop computer.
However the problem shows when I am using my laptop (7 year old) usb.
So a good charger is recommended.
I can confirm this issue, but what i want to know is, why does this happen when the phone is lying flat on a surface while charging and goes away the moment you pick it up? If it was a faulty or imprecise charger issue then the problem should persist?
My guess is it has to do with the EM shielding around the charging module, and that it doesnt do enough to shield the totally normal residual interference from interfering with the touch screen digitizer. When we pick it up, our hand acts as an interference dampener and minimizes the issue while it is charging, to almost negligible amounts. But its just a guess. The chargers might also be generating greater than average interference as well. But just charger alone cannot explain why pickibg up minimizes the problem.
The charger doesn't cause any erratic behavior on my Galaxy Nexus like it does on this phone... So what is the explanation behind that?

What's unfortunate is that the Samsung charger that came with the device causes the touchscreen issues.
Fortunately, I have an HTC charger lying around that works, no problems.
I have seen this happen with the HD2, Evo 4g, galaxy s4g & Sensation. Its a problem with chargers and the voltage. It happens with those chargers from walmart. Its not just the GS2 phones.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Add the Tmo HD7 to the list.... it happens all touchphones on which i believe has grounds surrounding the phone, touching the touch screen stabilizer or whatever you'd like to call it. It's the ground of the charger, nothing to do with charger instability. Take your laptop's charger, plug it into a wall with no 3rd ground (a laptop that has the 3rd prong) and take that same plug, and plug it into a plug with 3 prongs, you'll notice it has that static-like feeling that makes ur fingers tingle (when you touch a metal part of your laptop). It's the same issue with our phones
I hope this helps someone
Just change charger i have noticed that since i work in a cellphone company .... but i change to a different charger and it stopped doing that....
I used another charger but the problem still exist

Charger making noises?! What the hell

My Galaxy Nexus is the GSM version, international. The charger is for Europe, so... it's not like the version for US, I believe. Don't know how different it is (aside from the connectors), and since chances are the people that are gonna answer me are from the US... oh well...
When the charger is plugged in to the wall socket, but the phone is not plugged in, it buzzes... the charger emitts a very high pitch, constant noise... I can hear it very well during day, with my window open (not too much noise going on, except for a few birds and a few distant sirens). During night... it's worse than the Chinese drop, lol.
Don't get me wrong - it's not LOUD, but given it's very high pitch... you get the point. The noise I'm talking about can be compared to those Ultra Ring ringtones you probably used to play to annoy others as a child... if you're around the age of 20, like me, lol. It's not THAT loud, but... Oh well.
If I unplug the charger, the noise begins to dissapear... it begins to oscilate, faster & faster, until it vanishes completely.
The same noise is being emitted by the charger when the phone is charging, but the battery level is above 85% or so, and the screen is off. The same very high pitch noise is there, constant, but with very short interruptions. The noise stops entirely as soon as I turn on the screen and re-appears about two seconds after I lock the phone.
-----
The charger is the original Samsung one, which outputs 1A at 5.0V, so it's not some cheap Chinese charger or anything... What the hell is wrong with it? Is your charger acting the same?
I'm sorry if all this sounds complete rubbish & ridiculous to you, but... I ain't crazy, lol.

Your observation does 100% cover with mine. Might be a capacitor doing this, but it's annoying, I agree.

The Galaxy Note seems to be using the same charger... a friend of mine has it, and he also complains it's making that noise.
A capacitor, that's what I thought, too, but since I can't really know which one is responsible... It hardly seems like it's normal, I mean I had HTC 1A chargers and they were all quiet .
So... no one else's chargers doing this?!

My charger that came with the Gnex whines too. However I know capacitors don't whine...It's most likely one of the coils/transformer/inductors inside the charger that is making the noise. I noticed that once it's charging it goes away too.

That's funny, cause no other charger I previously owned/use did this. HTC's 1A charger didn't do this, Motorola's 850mA charger didn't do this, Galaxy S2's 700mA charger (same as Galaxy S1) didn't do this...
I think it's because the charger is so small, yet so powerful, and since components are so tied together... Makes no sense, but I guess the technology used in chargers is not yet perfect haha.

It stops, yes, but once my phone's battery is past a certain level (say, 80% or so), the noise re-appears (not the exact same noise, but kind of), ONLY when the screen is off.
Just get a new charger, its defective for sure. Had one that did the same thing, it even got a little warm and it sounded like the "sound grenade" app. Pretty funny, plugged it into my friends room for a couple days and he couldnt figure out where the sound was coming from lol. Swapped it out with another one and no more high pitch annoying sound.

they are very cheap..just that..its of course annoing, but anyway it doesn't cause any problem to the phone

Once it reaches near full battery it'll lower down on the amperage, therefore it's like as if it isn't plugged in anymore.

Nexus thinks it's always charging?????

I have had my v-gnex for a few months now and all of a sudden the micro USB port seems to be having issues. It doesn't light up when plugged in and the phone, no matter what from I use. Its always charging. USB be in or out. Any one else having this issue? Tried many different types of chargers.

Try backing it up and then factory wipe the phone. If it's still present more than likely the USB bits has died on you or is dying.
For what it's worth, I had a similar issue with a completely different device which had USB charging.
USB port was basically dying, as evidenced when I pulled it apart.
I did research on it cuz it happened to me.
When using a non-samsung usb plug, you have a high chance of bending the tounge of the USB port down.
Its touching the metal casing surrounding it. Take a toothpick or a pocket knife and make sure its in the middle. Also clean it out of any debris.
Fixed it for me.
Some have had luck with trying to bend the USB pins a little, but don't try that without reading up on the issue. And a lot of people have needed a USB board replacements.
If you still have a valid warranty on your device i'd go for a claim on that.
Do a search in these forum's, there should be MANY threads about the same problem.

intercity could give me no further info when i called them so i have had to contact samsung but if i dont pay the charge my phone is going to be returned to me unrepaired in 48hours. is it normal or is it the repair place trying to pull a fast one. My nexus is only 6 months old..

How many times has your Nexus been replaced? + rant

I got my first Nexus about a month ago. About 3 days ago the charging port kicked the bucket. I couldn't charge it at all. I called Verizon and got a warranty replacement. Cool. Came in about 5 hours ago. The very first thing I noticed upon powering up the replacement was that it had moderate/severe screen burn-ins. As well as random spots all over that don't match the color/tint of the rest of the screen.
So at this point I'm pretty much heated. My first nexus was a CPO (certified pre owned) as well. I got VZW to swap my Stratosphere for it.
Anyway... I figured I'd download a ROM to install until my next nexus comes in (#3) because I hate being on stock. I get a low battery warning so I plug it in. I notice IT'S DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS MY LAST ONE. Any little bit of pressure or movement of the charger causes my phone to lose connection and stop charging..... I tried my original charger. I tried my brothers Droid 3 charger and even the brand new charger I bought when my first nexus started having issues. None of them work! So I tried all of those chargers on my brothers and dads phone and they work fine!! No amount of movement disrupts charging on their phones at all with any of my cables. I tried every combo of charging cable/phone as well as using different power outlets on different breakers. I couldn't believe I got a phone out of the box with the exact same problem I'm trying to return my original one for. This is ridiculous!!!
"Sir, all of our certified pre owned devices pass a 100-point inspection" *cough*BS*cough* If you actually put this phone through a 100 point inspection then somebody needs to get fired because it should have failed the moment he looked at the screen. It's that obvious. Unless they don't inspect the screen - at least when it's on (which makes no sense to me).
So I was wondering if you guys had similar experiences? I knew I was sending my replacement I just opened up back - literally seconds after I powered it on.
Anyways now that my rant is over, how many times have you had to get your nexus replaced before you got a good one?
That sounds like bad luck pal. My own GNex is a GSM one I got a couple of weeks ago pre-owned and it is running fine. It does seem a bit of a lottery regarding the build quality. Does the LTE version tend to have more issues than the GSM?
I've had no problems with my GSM Galaxy Nexus.

Strangely before the repair it would charge to 100% and I usually could get around 3.5-4 hrs of screen time and 16+ hours before needing to charge, now with the new port only goes to 92% and screen time 2.5 hrs and about 12 hours sometimes less, haven't changed my usage, really wonder if they borked my battery somehow during the repair. Mine was manufactured march 2012.

Sounds like a problem with your USB port.

Yes I tried wake clock but it didn't help. Strangely it happens randomly. I took out the battery for 10 secs put it back in and is working properly. I will wait a while and post back tomorrow morning.

If you've used the app, you should know there's hardly anything random about it. When a particular wakelock has exceptionally high usage, Google about it (can be done from within the app) and get some insight into what is triggering it. Then you can disable/suspend that app/service.

I had that happen on a custom kernel once. Flashed a different one and it was fixed....Doesn't seem like it'll help you though

I had that problem. Try to move that little thing in charging port with something thin, needle or knife. Thats how I solved it few months ago and since then I haven't had any issue. Hope this will help

I think that might fix it. Im still having the same problem, my fix is taking out the battery. I will try your fix and post back later.

Problem is no longer there. Just stopped doing it. ??????
My dose it when I'm at 100% battery after it drops below 90% stops doing that

Mine was having the same problem, but I followed the advice of an earlier post by Godra and it has stopped turning on automatically. Basically, I used my pocket knife to clean out under the pins in the micro USB charging port. I also bent it up just a little bit (be very careful not to break it) to keep it away from the metal housing, which is a ground. Something must have been shorting one of the pins to ground (the housing) causing it to continuously wake.

solved
Prying or cleaning the USB connector did not help in my case. Battery charge indicator sometimes stayed on, but sometimes not. Battery drained really fast.
I bought a charging flex connector board replacement (they are really cheap on ebay), watched some youtube videos explaining the how to change the board and when my new board arrived, my phone was fixed in under 15 minutes.
My gnex now holds charge for over 24 hours with moderate use.
With Jelly Bean 4.3 installed and a new charging port, it feels like a brand new phone!

Hi,
I have developed an open-souce (GPLv3) app that helps save battery when this happens.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484871
SnooZy Charger turns off the screen on these ghost connections, saving battery consumption by the display. It does not fix the charging issues, but it reduces the battery drain when this happens.

ps: sorry if this is considered as self promotion or xposting but this issue has been reported on multiple threads..
Hi, i had the same problemen as you all, but i solved the problem by remove all the dust from the input of the charger connection from the phone. I think that the dust was maken some kind of shortwire and that that was the reason for it to turn on the screen, after i cleaned all the dust from the charger point in the phone, my problem seems to be solved. Can some one else confirm this?

I happen exactly that, how could you fix it?
Had the same Galaxy Nexus problem with the display switching on sporadically or turning back on seconds after the phone was manually switched off. The display was the number one consumer of energy due to energy statistics even without using the phone. Bluetooth, GPS were disabled and no special apps were running on the phone.
Hint:
The battery statistics graph's detail view logged charging events although the phone was not connected to a USB charger/port. The display was logged as active parallel to these events. So basically the phone thought it was connected to a charger and switched on the display which it normally also does, but since this charging status was repeating over and over, the display wouldn't turn off by itself.
Yesterday, I examined the USB port with a magnifying glass in bright light and noticed quite some fuzz build-up in the port. Otherwise the port looked good and not oxidized or damaged. So I removed the battery and cleaned off the fuzz from the micro USB port. I used a thin thread to loosen the felt-like lint which took me quite some time. Vacuum cleaner didn't work well. Compressed air might be helpful.
What shall I say: The phone charged very well and behaved normal the whole day without any unusual drain and NO pseudo charging events in the battery statistics!
Should this success not persist, I will report ...
