I have a major problem with the Power for my Epic. It is not rooted or anything fancy. The charging port is broken (yes, its all kaboom). I can only charge the phone by taking out the battery, charge the battery with a charger (available at Radio Shack for only $40!) and put it back in. The problem is...the phone won't turn on! I had to declare war yesterday until I finally forced Google to provide an answer which was to remove the battery, hold the Power button for 15 seconds, put the battery back in and turn it on. Hallelujah! It worked! Then later into half of the day, the battery was low, so I properly turned off the phone in order to remove the battery to charge it. And now the phone will not, I repeat, will not power back on under my command!!! I have tried and tried everything, alternating different ways and amount of seconds of waiting and holding the Power button....nothing! What can I do? I came across mentions of the Hard Reset button under the battery cover. I can't find it. Where is it? Also, is there any other way to make this work? I have to fight this every time I am done charging the battery. No, I repeat, it is not the battery since it works in another phone. It is the phone. Please help me! This is pushing me on the verge of *sighs* fatal suicide! Ahhhh Ahhhhhhhh AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

How old is the phone & do you have TEP?
Sounds like you need to take it to the Sprint store for replacement.
If you have TEP & it is over 1 yr old then it will cost $100.00 to replace it.
As far as the reset button......that's a myth.....some people have claimed to have it, but money has been offered for a picture of the magic button & no one has produced even one picture of the magic reset button (that I am aware of)......most of the Dev's on here will tell you the button is only a myth.......
It might be a year or a little less. I don't have TEP. The phone is all I have and I would rather not replace it, cuz Samsung doesn't know how to increase the 512mb to 1gb of RAM, so a lot of apps are making the phone freeze cuz RAM is always maxed out. I'm thinking about getting the blue S3, but really want to use the phone until then. I dunno why it won't power back on. I managed to get it to work once then it just cries cuz I take battery out.
I would suggest some options that require rooting & flashing a custom ROM to make the phone work as it should. But with a damaged USB connector on the phone (as I understood you to say you had) you cannot flash anything. There is no way of increasing the RAM in the phone, but the internal storage can be increased to alomst 700MB by converting to MTD. I have been running CleanGB MTD (slightly overclocked) for a long while now & this phone continues to amaze me. It handles everything I throw at it without any problems. It multi tasks great. Stock it may not be as good, but our Dev's here do a great job & have turned this phone into a great device. The RAM issue has not been a problem for me yet & I push this thing to do way more than it is supposed to do.
If it is less than a year old then the replacement should be $35.00 think. It's a handling fee Sprint charges with no TEP for warranty replacements. Sounds like you don't have an upgrade coming yet either.
Hopefully one of these other guys will have some insite into how to help this situation, but I am not sure what to do with a bad usb port.
monke30butt, will you help me one-on-one through PM or Messenger if I were to decide on replacing for another Epic? I really love the phone, just not happy with the RAM. If what you said is true, then I am interested in what you did on your Epic, so I can do the same. I don't do much, but I have themes, locker, launcher, other customs that takes up RAM. If you could help me, I would be willing to exchange for a new Epic. If you can't, I could try to risk the S3. The Epic is so glorious with the camera quality (compared to mom's phone making green look yellowish in aquariums), that Epic makes the green so deeply dark and lushy.
And I wonder how to add a stabilization feature to the camera's video?
If you need help, I can try to lend a hand.
For my current setup: All I did was root the phone, flash Clean GB MTD (The Peoples ROM is said to be good too), adjusted CPU speed with SetCPU & adjusted SD cache size to make the best use out of the class 10 memory card I installed (it flys now!!!). I didn't do anything special. The Dev's that cook up the ROM'S, mods, & various fixes should get ALL of the credit for the improvements of how the phone works. I just used what they posted.
They say the CM roms are very good too, but I have not personally tried them yet. Trying to decide between TPR next or CM7 w/crespo modem.
Yes, I've rooted this phone before and well, I don't know how I was able to do it, but I got it rooted, which is amazing for a retard like me. It was so kool. I can't remember what ROM I used and I got heavy help thru a chat on here and some people helped thru texting, etc. Then later, I had problems and it was hard for me to solve and accept updates and many things, so I went back to stock and I don't remember how I did that. Everything you said that you used are way different than what I used, so I guess those were developed way after the time I was into rooting and those wasn't available. At the end, when I went back to stock, the Epic place was slowing down and people were moving on, but surprised me to see some activity on here, especially from ya, so thanks. I will consider what I want, exchange or get S3. Another reason why I went back to stock was that with GO DEV Launcher EX, there was a glorious blue theme that was so perfect that it was everything that I wanted. When I rooted, I wanted to do that, cuz I wanted a nice theme for locker, text message, contact, etc, but I found out that GO made it possible for all of that without rooting, so it made it so much easier for a lil retard like me, but I do miss the plentiful of RAM and removal of Sprint's junk including that stupid Optimizer, etc.
Well, that explains your RAM problems. The GO products are nice, but they eat your resources.
Go to the development section and go to the rooting sticky. Watch QBKing's video a couple times. Even my 2 year old could do it after watching that.

Yeah. GO are very devious. I've always wanted to start Wake Up GO DEVils website to force them to listen and change. One example, in the Dialer, they took away the ability for us to dial a number and select Text. The only big button available down there is Call, which is highly offensive to thousands of deaf customers. Hundreds of emails, GO DEVils continued to ignore. Plus, they do random "air push" (I think is whats the name) notification ads and adding icon ads. Want to know the shocking thing? Mine are free (maybe one was paid, I dunno), but majority of what I downloaded and used are free. Not once do I get any junky ads. Okay....how about mom? Tons of ads!!! She and I use the same thing other than hers are pink theme (which are a paid feature) and those are loaded with ads. Did the GO DEVils ever listen once to correct this and behave? Never!
Lol that's go for ya... if you decide to stick with the epic and want to root it... you can pm me for help or hit me up on gtalk... I am pretty active on here and can walk you through it... gtalk is xda username at gmail.com....

It looks like Radio Shack is trying to scam people. Their $99 price is for new account only and it doesn't include new line, either, that I had done for my Epic. The new line price is $199. So, I am leaning toward replacing the Epic with another Epic. However, I do need to know something. GS3 have Stabilization for the pix/vidz, which is something that I seriously need since I always do pix and vidz with my smartphone. Epic does not have that. Is this a hardware or software feature? If it is a software feature, are there any camera app on the market that includes Stabilization? If not, I will fork over the money for the GS3. Btw, now I see two people offering one-on-one help. That makes it super hard for me to decide and pick one.
If I do decide on staying with the Epic, then rooting will mainly be for the RAM space as I will continue to use GO software and themes that I love.

I still need to know about the Stabilization.

I encourage anyone concerned about the availability of the 3 button download mode, or other issues, to comment on the Samsung Facebook page. I already posted a comment and got a response I find somewhat disturbing... maybe there is strength in numbers.

Make sure he doesn't duck the question. 3 button means that experienced end users can actually fix a bad flash (lol @ Kies) without having to lose their phone for a month (Allgamer is at the 3 week mark now after sending his phone in).
Hopefully they will provide an answer. I have since returned mine back to Future Shop. I've tried 4 other phones hoping to be able to do an exchange, but all of them had 3 button recovery disabled. If they release a fix for this I will buy the phone in an instant.
I saw your post over there...
Exactly what I figured their response would be... I for one am not holding my breath for an update through Samsung to enable 3 button recovery.
They messed though by inexplicably letting some through with it enabled...Makes it hard to justify why some have it and some don't... If anything, expect an update to disable it on the ones that have it enabled!
I hope otherwise, but in all seriousness, the majority of users will likely never have to use recovery and the average user out there is not an xda-developpers member. Yes, Samsung will have to deal with bricks but probably in their mind, they are making it slightly harder to do 'unauthorized' stuff.

Meh, I am not going that far. Recovery mode is a nice to have but it is not going to deprive me of the best phone on the market by miles (there is not a phone that is going to be better than the 3GS for at least 6 months or more, nothing is in the pipeline that comes close)

Until you accidentally brick it, then you are paying $60 a month while it goes off to get fixed. Yes, it's awesome hardware, but without 3 button, it's not worth it to me. I'm also stubborn enough to demand a resolution to this issue before forking out the money a 2nd time
I've left a comment of the Facebook page. Let's hope someone hears something. Going back to using my iPhone has killed me.

Samsung Mobile Canada Hi Jason. 3 button download mode is for internal firmware functions and is not recommended to end-users. It’s typically used by technicians to service malfunctioning phones. Modifying the internal firmware on a mobile phone device may void the warranty. What function you are trying to do? Maybe we can help find another way. Feel free to reach out to us at 1-800-SAMSUNG and we'll see how we can help. Thank
sounds like they could fix it but might not if your dumb enough to flash your bell sgs and have the 3 button combo disabled best of luck to you

If I am unlucky enough to brick it (which, despite my rants, is pretty hard to actually do in practice.... as long as you are flashing with a stable laptop it is not going to brick), then I'll get it replaced under warranty. The odds of me flashing it again after Froyo is out are near zero.
See, unlike WinMo, you don't have to re-flash Android to customize it, nearly everything on the phone can be customized in-line. All the stuff Cyogen etc. are doing can be done without flashing the phone, so you don't have to worry about bricking it
I learned from my years with my HTC dev. that re-flashing every few weeks is a huge pain in the butt, and I don't plan on doing that again with this phone.

I have been reading everyday since the day it came out... the same day I bought it.
Hope you all don't mind but I have quite a few questions/frustrations
1st, Battery life is killing me... cannot make it through a day, I have put my screen on auto which seems a lot dimmer than set to 40 or 60%. All I do is play some solitaire, check mail a lot, a little bit of net, maybe 30 minutes of calls (tops) a few txt msgs, with maybe 2 hours or slightly more of screen time.
External speaker is embarrassing... tried showing a video to a friend with an iphone and felt like flushing the damn phone after he did the same.
Data connectivity is still hit and miss... one minute I have 4 bars of 4G and the next I have none.
I am on (details in sig) 4.0.4 (Craig Gomez version) with the newest radios. The device is a serious work tool for me so I really don't have the time to try different ROMS or kernels all the time... I need it always ready for calls, emails and occasional RDP or Logmein sessions .
For those of you have actually tried many/experienced in the world of various ROMs & kernels... do you have a suggestion of what to do with my setup?
Between the battery and data connectivity I feel the phone is close to crap... my friends with Razors have none of these problems and I feel like I am ready to snap.
BTW... if you could be even more kind... if you have a suggestion on what to run, could you suggest a brief set of instructions... i.e. nandriod, full wipe, install this first that second...
Thanks for any and all help... I sure would like to come up with or remember a reason why I have this and not a razor max.
Do you have the latest radios? That will make a difference. I do know the speaker is weak. There's not much to do but for a volume hack, some roms have it enabled.
Id ask for a replacement phone if battery is that bad and you can't get a decent signal anywhere but other phones can. Sounds like a defective phone.
I've been using Android Revolution for about 2 weeks, and as for today, I don't think there's anything as good as it. It's just like stock, just a little bit faster. I have great battery life, 5 to 6 Hours of screen on time, AutoBrightness, sync on, wifi always on, etc, it's pretty good, you should give it a try.
I've also used AOKP (with FrancoKernel and with stock kernel), and even tho I liked all extra features, in my experience, with screen off, it drains battery a looot faster that stock/ARHD.
I used an app called equalizer to fix the speaker

Autobrightness will kill your battery more than a static 40 or 60%.
2 hours of screen on time seems normal for the Verizon Nexus.
Try the volume + app for your speaker problems.
There are some kernels that have sound boosts built in.
Signal drops means you should exchange the phone. Use the insurance.
Honestly if you hate the phone as much as it sounds, just get a different phone.

Perfect response.
Don't get me wrong... I in no way "hate" phone, if I did I would have gotten rid of it.
I'm frustrated not stupid.
I am amazed that Verizon hasn't done something about it... most of the buyers of this phone are not IT savvy rooters... my phone works a lot better than stock, I cannot imagine how frustrated someone on 4.0.2 would be.
Anyway... I am going to take it back to stock and return it... guess I will try it (the new one) out stock but I know I will want it rooted. Guess I'll try some of the suggested software\ROMS.
I wonder what a stock one is coming with these days?

Well... things just changed again.
Just talked with Verizon and he asked if I installed the update pushed out on the 25th? I told him I will give it a shot and get back to them.
Anyone got instructions for reverting back to stock?

First off the evo was officially released in june 2010. Only a few months till we are wishing our evo happy third birthday. Oh I have heard a rumor floating around that the Og Evo is one of the most active devices on XDA.
I have been a member here for a few years. I started with the cricket zio. Then the Og Evo, a 3vo for my girlfriend at the time, and then I fell victim to a boot loop of death. So back to my old a$$ Samsung Messenger II (I had already given the zio to my son as a music/media/911 device) till I could pick up another evo. Found a bad esn hybrid black front/white back og with no battery and seller stated vibration did not work. For $40 shipping paid. Thankfully I didn't sell my 3500 mA extended battery or mid-grade otter box case when I sold my first evo on ebay for $80. Remember it had bootloop of death and also a bad esn.
With some of our phones actually being three years old there are bound to be cataclysmic failures showing up. Over the past few weeks I have noticed a common problem spread out over the massive selection of roms we have. There was nothing really that the roms shared except for the fact that just this one person, never the same one that I can remember, would have this STATUS 7 ERROR during the flash causing the installer to abort. The first couple of times it came up I just passed it over as some wierd error due to something completely different than the real problem.
The following is from a the cm7 unchained thread.
Well with these problems popping up I have been thinking about implementing an old trick. You know about changing partion sizes. We can enlarge the boot and system partions and reduce the data size. We then use a2sd to make up for what we used on the other two. Now all I need to do is add the adjustment to the installer-script.
Although there is a side effect of this. When a different kernel is flashed it will not know how to read the partions. So then the user has to flash another script to change the partion parameters in the new kernel.
Now to shine a light on what the issue is that is causing what seems to be a random problem. The evo has been around since June 2010 and is getting old. The more recovery logs I see the more bad blocks I see. The memory only has so many write cycles before it burns out.
Now with all rom flashing we do just takes another write cycle from the evos life. If we start digging further into the lives of our users we will notice two groups with issues. The older phones (from '10 or '11) and the addicted flashers/developers. Both of which have used up some of their lives testing and flashing.
True be told we can bandaid the evos memory with symlinks to the sdext till we only have the files needed to symlink everything else to the sdext. Only problem will be the transfer rate of sdcard.
Hope this was enlightening and informative. Also if you have not noticed I am working on the TNN Rom toolbox which will help everyone in finding a solving the problems as they pop up.
The thread is in general discussion but only gives highlights of what will be coming. I still have to write the install script to copy logcat automatically to the TNN folder and create a md5sum of the rom flashed. Now I will have to add in the partion adjustments and make a kernel fix script so different kernels can be flashed.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness
Extra power for my development
Well I have recently lost my job which is why I have been able to get all the roms out so quickly and with very few if any bugs.
Then on a few days ago PlatinumPenguin tells me that he has a 3vo sitting unused in his desk drawer. He states that the Og Evo just sounds so much better than the 3vo on his headphones. Long story short he is packing up the 3vo and giving it to me. Talk about a nice guy. So I will move to the 3vo as my phone with service and have the Og completely free for developing purposes.
Then yesterday my buddy tells me that he has an Inspire that his wife wants to put back on att. The problem is that he dropped it and shattered the screen. Then got upset about it and threw it at the wall damaging the power button and volume keys. No power button no phone right. Well it just so happens that I know a trick or two. He hands me the phone and started to walk away. I quickly do my trick and power up the phone before he gets a few feet away. I tell him to watch this phone boot up. Trick is you take the battery out, connect the charger to phone and wall, and then reinsert the battery. B.I.N.G.O. Houston we have lift off.
Now he offers me his bad esn evo with shattered screen if I can replace the screen and get the buttons working on the Inspire. For those unfamiliar with the Inspire it is part of the evo family. It was an att phone almost exactly like the Thunderbolt except it has no ffc.
Now I have two Og Evo's to use for development purposes. Now I can flash two roms at the same time First I have to root the two new to me evos and an Inspire.
Then maybe I can get the TNN Toolbox written up on post 1. With a collection of other tips and tricks for our evo on post two.
Umm time to hit the rooting section of all three phone. It has been awhile since I have done the Og (hw003 latest update from sprint installed Nov '11) the second evo came rooted. I did the 3vo back around august of last year. It took me some time to figure out exactly how to do it. I didn't use the wire trick which had just come out for the 3vo.
Anyways stay tuned for more innovations from Team No Name. They will be coming to a server near you soon. Long live the Evo. Even if we end up running 90% of our roms from a symlinked sdext. Heck who needs internal storage anyways.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness

Re: The State of the elderly Evo Hopefully help will be on the way.
Oh wow I just powered up this bone stock evo 4.67.651.3. I am going to do a timed boot comparison but it sure looks like the stock one takes twice as long to boot.
It is kind of mind blowing to think that there really is that much difference between a stock and modded phone. They are both hw004 so I can use all my nands on both phones. Oh just so you know I had already booted my newly acquired evo a few time before I started both at the same time. No cheating since both already had a dc made.
Re: The State of the elderly Evo Hopefully help will be on the way.
This is almost like finding out my old EVO has cancer and the more I flash it the more the cancer spreads.
I've had my OG Evo since December 2010 (still stock and unrooted). I recently BOYD'd it over to Ting and bought my wife a used OG Evo off of Glyde. Hers I rooted (my first root ever) without issue and am running MBQsniper's Triple S. I am planning to root my device once I get all the bugs worked out of hers, get SMS copied over, etc.
So, needless to say, I've recommitted to the OG Evo at least until Sprint (and therefore Ting) kills wimax and maybe longer. I'm glad there are people around that are much more knowledgable than I that are still paying attention to this device. It's also funny how everyone seems to be from Texas...

Can I add another important point regarding the advanced age of our "elderly" Evos?
Batteries also decline with age.
There was a recent discussion around here about buying a replacement battery, which size, which brand, blah blah.
If you are replacing an original launch day stock battery that has been through hundreds of charge/discharge cycles, I can guarantee the details of your replacement battery do not matter as long as it is new.
I had been using a replacement battery for a while and just for the hell of it put in my original battery a week ago. After calibrating and letting it go through a few cycles, I was completely blown away by how bad the battery life was. Same ROM, same usage pattern, just went back to the old battery. I just ended a 13 minute call and watched my battery go from 50 to 15. What is that, 40 minutes of talk time on a full charge? No one would sell a mobile phone like that (not today, not three years ago, 1986 or ever).
So all you people inheriting old Evos (or trying to find new life for your own vintage Evos), please, before you clutter up ROM development threads with comments on battery life, REPLACE YOUR FREAKIN BATTERY FIRST.
Now if they could just "recondition" the non-replaceable flash memory to get rid of those bad blocks..

True that. I had to go back to my original battery and it's stupid how bad battery life is.
As for the bad blocks, funny how 2 years ago, we believed you could write/re-write millions of times with no ill effects
Looks like you've been doing your homework brother, this looks to be promising.
Well actually most of the partition adjusting is old stuff. I just have to find a way to change the boot size. They were doing this back in the hero days.

I am getting a status 7 error. Sucks, I loved my OG Evo
Sent from stock rooted Galaxy SIII
Status 7 error is a fail on installing boot image. I suggest removing the lines in the installer script for the boot.img and flashing a kernel separate. The use of a smaller kernel may solve the issue.

Write cycles for NAND chips are in the order of 10k. Do we have fruity modders surpassing this number?!?
Wild!
0_o
Well lets look at it this way. 10,000 writes over 3 years (oldest evo) over 365 days and we have 9.13 writes a day. So while a 10k life sounds long it is over quicker than you think.
Hope this helped shine some light on the subject.

Okay, here's the list of issues I'm having with no fix found yet. Hopefully I can get help because this is just NOT okay at all...
Precursor info, I'm using the Leather-backed T-Mobile phone. No I will not take it back, screw the $50 restocking BS, I am willing to RMA it though if this is just a lemon phone. I do have the density changed to 540 via adb and NO that's not causing any issues that I'm aware of at all other than stock launcher app drawer looks FUNKY, haha (I use nova so whatever). I had greenery but that's gone now because that's maybe at fault? I don't even know. I did not have these issues on the Note 4 and I used probably 10-15 different ROMs with no problems. Go to G4 and boom a mess of ****. (Pardon my wordage)
-Keyboard, it's got some MASSIVE lag for the hold space to seek, and for the secondary key functions. I mean MASSIVE HUGE lag.
-Volume throttling, this almost never happens, but occasionally it will get REALLY quiet and the only way to fix that is to restart that app (seems to be if I accidentally hit play during a notification it won't leave the ducking level <-- ducking, not the other word, ducking, haha)
-Equalizer, I was using the CM MaxxAudio (AudioFX) with NO issues then randomly today it's not working over bluetooth (when it was yesterday) so I said "oh well, I'll figure it out" only to now have no EQ whatsoever outside of 1. Poweramp (not device-wide so I don't care about it) and 2. the stock app with stock eq (again, not device-wide so don't want that). Every app I add, nothing, no eq changes, absolutely NOTHING. Uninstalled it all, restarted, blah blah, nothing.
-Headphones plugged in are sometimes seen as a headset and they don't have a mic...starts google and then bye bye voice, don't even try, it's looking for a mic that ain't there.
-Missed touches, just seems to me to be user error, I'm used to Samsung and this is LG, a little bit less Glove friendly so any touches have to be a tad heavier, nothing as bad as some people I've seen.
-Device gets HOT for no reason, it's not doing anything special, music is NOT intensive, this also wrecks my battery life...
-Overmodulation for no reason, by this I mean if you max out the audio guess what, it sounds like crap, now why would that be I wonder? Considering it's not amplifying much (My headphone amp solves that problem, but since audio wants to be a whole world of stupid I'm just really at a loss here)
-Just music in general, like why does nothing work right? I'm at my wits end, I've had it for less than a week and EQ is bad, headphones aren't seen right, volume is a mess, heat is a mess (screen off guys, inside, in air-conditioning, it's not right) apps that eq a phone are just poop, is this the T-Mobile update? Did that kill everything? Is this my device? Is it a lemon? Is this DPI? I've never ever seen that do any of these things, and it hasn't been an issue to anything. Issues started mostly today. (Headphones being seen wrong is periodic and not specific to today). someone help me please, I need an EQ, I need my battery back, and I need my phone to stop freaking out.
Should I factory reset and see if that clears things up? Did greenify kill stuff?
I'm tempted to call LG and get some answers from them. This is just NOT okay with me. LOVE the phone, LOVE LOVE LOVE the camera, but man screw this crap. Not good QC at ALLLL....
My G4 is working fine apart from the odd missed touch. Thats all I can say.

Well that's just beautiful, will try a reset and see if that helps, otherwise it's time to call T-Mobile/LG
Also got the TMO version with brown leather yesterday. I hear you on the heat issues and it slaughtering the battery, and some missed touches... but not experiencing any of the other issues listed yet...
I'd try a reset. Also, is this an upgrade ( jump or regular upgrade on EIP ) or a new line or did you just buy it outright ? Asking because, other than buying it outright, there shouldn't be a restock fee to exchange within the first 14 days.
T-mobile always charges a restocking fee unless it is an exchange because of a build issue. Coming from Sprint (left them a year ago), that was always disturbing about T-mobile. Sprint had a 30 day return w/o restocking fee, then went to 14 days, and then back up to 30 days.
The only issue I've had was overheating. My phone got really hot doing mundane things and that caused the battery to suffer. I got a replacement from TMO and so far (only been a day), no issues with overheating. But I will have to put it through it's paces over the next few days.

Equalizer Im pretty bummed about not able to have a system-wide Equalizer...tried many ..but to no avail.:crying: God I cant wait for root to install a good DSP manager...let me know if you find a working solution to this issue without root.
Keyboard..i find it pretty responsive except for the damn spacebar lag...got to constantly watch what Im writing to ensure proper spacing...hope its resolved by LG
Volume throttling...totally agree..I can see the volume throttle itself back in the status notification...too many times for my liking.
Battery...phone is actually running good and battery is good. Im using a quick charging adapter and the phone gets pretty hot while charging ..im not sure if its gonna wreck/fry my battery as there is no quick charge confirmation from the system..even though LG says its officially supported...
Touch response. I find it ok, like you, except for a few missed touches...notably at double tap to turn on device..sometimes i feel like the upper half of the screen is more responsive to DT2W than the lower half. A bit annoying when I need to access the phone quickly.
Build quality. Not too bad. Device is easy to hold and light. But I have notices that there is creaking of my back cover around the USB port. It almost feels like the back cover isn't secured properly there (not sure if its just my back cover as I don't have any other to try)
Apart from these issues.....loving it.
This phone (downgrade) is going back today. LG screw up this phone.

Return it to T-Mobile for another - what are you waiting for? You gotta have a bad one. The system wide EQ is a different issue, and for better or worse it's supposed to be handled by the app. You try another pair of headphones. Some headphones don't play nice, both 3 and 4 pole.
I'm very strongly considering returning mine for a Galaxy S6. The wifi issue alone is infuriating. The touchscreen issue isn't as frustrating as the wifi, but that is definitely a problem too. I have six more days under AT&T's return policy. If a fix isn't found by then, it's gone.
This was my first LG phone, having been a Samsung fan for years. Sadly, they have me questioning that decision to switch. Very disappointing, LG.

The phone got incredibly hot >107F doing mundane things like listening to tune-in radio or making a phone call. So far the replacement is much better, but it also updated when I turned it on, so not sure if the update fixed it or the new phone. I'm definitely getting better battery life on the new phone/new update as a cooler battery operates better.
As far as the audio getting quite when you start music or skip tracks during a notification that's not new. It's dependent on the app. Ie Pandora has always done this to me even in nexus 4/5.
the more I use it the more bugs I discover. setting do not stick, that is for sure. wifi goes to sleep, although I selected the option to keep it on when screen off. screen sleeps although I selected the option to never let it go to sleep. camera keeps asking for location although I keep clicking no. Brightness goes to maximum when I reboot the phone, although it was in auto before rebooting it. many annoying things lile that.

You forgot that the s6 active is ugly as sin. I have no issues with my g4. Sorry you guys are.
Folks, I recently purchased a month old LG G4 from a guy and its through Verizon, well the guys has been shipped overseas(he is in the service) and I just saw the promotion for the battery, battery cradle and micro sd card and my question is this, I have the phone and of course the IMEI number but I don't have a receipt for the phone, I've contacted LG and they tell me I have to have a copy of the receipt along with IMEI number of phone, can anyone suggest anything that would get me closer to being able to get the receipt for the phone like calling the store where it was purchased or anything like that? I texted the guy and he said he is locked out of his Verizon account so he couldn't get me a copy of receipt.
love the phone though and works great.
thanks in advance.
I doubt you can do anything, you bought in a secondary market.
If you really need a battery just buy it on ebay I seen some go for 20 bucks

Not 100% sure but I might take mine back due to unresponsiveness. IF I do take it back and get the N6, I'll give you the battery pack. You'll just pay shipping. Again, I'm not too sure. Just send me a pm so I won't forget if I end up doing it
Give me a break... At least wait for the update. It's not nearly bad enough to return the phone
My choice brother. Sorry if that bothers you
I agree. If you are having lagginess and have NOT factory reset, you are doing yourself a disservice. Phone is solid. Mine was freaking out when I first got it. I suspect it was because the Carrier tech skipped the initial setup and it was freaking out. After a factory reset and finished the setup properly, it has been amazing. I use Nova btw. Supposedly some of the LG Home Launcher widgets were buggy and eating ram and resources that cause lagginess and battery draining.
You can always try to submit for the Free battery and stuff. Worst case is they tell you no. I think you have until July 15th to Submit. Unfortunately you have to have a Receipt of Purchase. So unless you have the original Verizon receipt, you will be SOL.

THIS. Mine was having all kinds of lag and miss-touches (To the point that I kind of wanted to throw it against a wall) so I opted to do a factory reset and now I have literally NO lag at all. Was even able to install the launcher I wanted but could not use prior because of how buggy my G4 was being.
So as stated just do a factory reset and then give the phone a real chance.....You will thank yourself later for it.
folks, again I'm still new to Android, when you say " factory reset" I'm assuming you start from scratch on the phone? if you do this how are you getting your information back again as far as contacts, emails, pictures and so forth?
thanks

If your contacts are on Gmail, then you won't have any issues. That goes the same for emails.
Pictures and videos must be copied first to either your PC or copy them to Micro SD card. Then you reset your device, and then copy them back. It's quite simple. Let me know if you don't understand and I'll be more than happy to give you a more detailed explanation.

For pictures and videos, just like email/contacts store on the cloud, if you've loaded Google Photos and had it auto-upload all your content, it'll always be available as well.
Now, that said, while I'm with the others on holding onto the phone and giving it time, I do realize that the actual return windows for the product are finite. It's a lot harder to sell the device later on your own (not hard, just harder) rather than leverage a return to the store and potential impact of a restocking fee. The restocking fee may be a small price to pay for the piece of mind acquired by getting out of a device you don't want. For that, you're the only one that can make the decision.
Yeah no one cares what anyone else does with their own phone but don't go around telling others it's bad. It has a bad release software. LG messed up but hopefully they can fix it soon. They already claim to have updates ready soon.

LOL! The software on this phone isn't nearly as bad as the Optimus G. At least this is manageable for most (in my case, it's no issues at all really). The Optimus G would turn into a pocket heater due to borked kernel at release.
I can only imagine what some of the crowd in these G4 forums would have done if they had the S2 back when Sammy didn't do their homework and pushed out a release that bricked the devices that took the update before they could pull it....

Never told anyone the G4 wasn't good for anyone. I just said MY phone is having the issues. I don't have lag after the reset but the miss clicks are still there and it's horrible to the point where I have to touch 6 times just to wake the screen and I have to go back and rewrite stuff because it's missing a letter. I myself want a phone without issues out of the box and that's what I thought I was paying for. Again, I'm not saying the phone in general sucks, Im just upset at the first impression I got from it

Ouch. I would say you have a lemon. A few people do have legit problems, exchanged and 1000x better.
To factory reset, go into Settings. Security. Wipe device.
Contacts, apps, etc will restore when you first sign in to your google account during initial setup. There are tons of Getting Started guides for Android. If you are new to Android, welcome.

I wouldn't say that's true. I've been following several different forums, apart from XDA, and there are A LOT of people who complain of the knock-on issue. As well as the keyboard issue (with any keyboard). Many people claim that the issue goes away after a reset, but I actually do see a lot of them return saying "I was wrong, and it took 3-4 days for me to notice it again."
I think that there is a bug in the software. If they had found it, it would have been pushed ASAP seeing as it plagues a great many people. They're still working on it... Hopefully they'll fix it soon!
Just sayin'.
