Haven't been able to find the option to close apps by long pressing the back key on development menu.
I've been wondering, is it somewhere else? If not implemented on stock Sony ICS is there anyway to add it?

You dont need it. The system closes it if its not in use for a time.

System closes apps after 30min of not beeping used but there are apps like Facebook that otherwise I must manually close from app list, that's why I'm asking.

Not sure about other ROMs but the XGAMER rom has it included, i find it quite useful to be honest but may be a placebo effect.
Im sure if you ask the dev he will help you

I installed a new rom, Xperia NXT. But i never needed to look for this until now. In the settings menu the accounts and sync settings are missing from the main setting menu.
Anyone know what this is? Its a stock based rom and rven then theres no reason it shouldnt be there.

You're going to need to give a little bit more explanation. Are you on an Xperia PLAY?
Re-read my post, then slam you're head into something for asking that.

Ok so..First, this should be posted on that rom's thread and secondly it has a screenshot that the account/sync settings are there.

Google backup transport can be frozen, unless you need to use any of the google sync stuff.

I froze audioeffectservice and the walkman app wouldn't work even when I unfroze and rebooted, then I froze fmrxservice and the same happened with the radio :/

so something interesting for those that have seen the hybrid rom like paranoia that mix tablet and phone layout. if you set your dpi under 200, the ion displays in tablet mode so taskbar is on the botton and notifications come up from the bottom instead of top .. just interesting
Thanks I just got the Ion today, I'm playing around with the features now. I definitely like tablet mode for YouTube and email apps.
What settings is this under? I looked in display and app management.

You will need to be rooted and download a build prop editor. I use rom toolbox.
As far as I know any ics from will go into tablet mode with low enough DPI. Some will have issues with phone not working though my personal experience. also market may not show you all available apps or let you update current apps because of DPI change independantly so market won't have issues
That's why paranoid android is useful it allows you to change DPI independantly without negatively effecting phone performance
Okay, so root and ICS first...... I'm reading up and looking at YouTube now. I must say I've been a Samsung user for a while, I'm pretty hyped about this Sony Xperia ion, I want to leave it sick but I can't resist.

U can download a modded play store apj that should allow u to download all apps regardless of dpi or region search xda Ull find it. Fyi

Nice thats good to know lol. ill have to check that out ...
You got it breezy! good luck welcome to well built phones ...lol Its been a while since I've had a Sony lol, had a BB then a a few other androids then went to galaxy nexus for a bit but find Samsungs just feel cheap
i have a strange problem with w.whenever my ram crosses 318mb/351 mb.all the sounds of my phone disappers.i cant play music, video,no locking and unlocking sounds.i have to restart the phone again.this happens atleast once every day.any thoughts on this?
OK....my best guess is it's the phones way of protecting it's "core" functions. The ram usage has reached a point where there is a danger of failure of its prime functions and it is attempting to divert ram from other non essential services. First thing you've got to do is find out what's eating your ram. There are apps available that can supply this information though I don't know what they're called as I've never had to use them (sorry) Are you using a lot of apps that run in the background to bring you notifications etc? If this is the case and you don't really need the app, delete it....simples.....
There is also a setting in CM9 that allows you to turn off background data if you need to keep the apps......give it a go and see....it might be all you need to do
From my Galaxy W on CM9 and CWM6 with Tapatalk 2
Other things to try.....
Keep the number of home screens to a minimum.....
Remove "Widgets" from your home screens....
Apps like Facebook, eBay, amazon, PayPal, hmv, game, email....basically any app that takes you to a website.....they ALL use ram and they will ALL restart if you close them......they can ALL be deleted and replaced by bookmarked web searches that can be pasted to your home screen....sure you won't get a notification if billy has commented on your status, or if you have an unread email, or if that item you're watching is ending soon, but if your phone works better as a result....who cares lol.......
If you want to take it further than that, root your phone (if you haven't already) and install Gemini app manager.....you can use it to prevent apps from auto running and using ram.......

OK...maybe "non essential" was the wrong terminology, but I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to say....the rest of my advice still stands though.....

No....it's more likely to be too much software trying to access too little ram.....
The W has very little compared to some phones....

yes stock rom
That'll be another reason then.....ur stock OS has all sorts of bloatware (social hub, music hub, games hub, maps.....) all of it using RAM.....another thing to watch for....3rd party launchers (go launcher + addons).....very RAM hungry....ROOT your phone and freeze the bloat.....you WILL notice a difference.....you don't even have to install a custom rom, though that WILL help too.....

If you have any questions about 4 Kornerz & Black Dailhia Project Sony Xperia Z Spoofed, ask them here. This is a great idea,i usually dont start a thread like this, though i should, but a lead moderator has requested that devs start doing this from now on.
Re: [Q&A]4 Kornerz/BDP Sony Xperia Z Spoofed Rom~Q & A Thread
3 days using this ROM and all is good 80 plus apps and all is good not much ram so after closing a large app sometimes takes several seconds for the launcher apps to repopulate just thought I'd let you know

Brother if you have 80+ apps on your phone, its the apps taking up all the ram,not the rom,you need to delete the ram hogs from your phone and then you will see more ram,i promise.
Re: [Q&A]4 Kornerz & BDP Sony Xperia Z Spoofed Rom~Q & A Thread
I thought it was just the ones that run in the background that used ram like weather apps social apps and such

Im not sure what apps you have on your phone, but when you install an app, when your at the install menu, where it says install/cancel,look at the screen and it shows what kind of access the app needs, trust me,probably 90% of the apps you have on your phone needs internet access to update, get info about you for things like facebook or something and other things,so their constantly running in the background, get you a task manager and it will show all the apps that are running on your phone at the same time.
Re: [Q&A]4 Kornerz & BDP Sony Xperia Z Spoofed Rom~Q & A Thread

Also get you an app such as gemini that allows you to change how and when your apps launch. Just make sure you have a nand before making changes. Most apps auto launch at boot then if you kill them with a task killer they just open back up within a few moments.
