so something interesting for those that have seen the hybrid rom like paranoia that mix tablet and phone layout. if you set your dpi under 200, the ion displays in tablet mode so taskbar is on the botton and notifications come up from the bottom instead of top .. just interesting
Thanks I just got the Ion today, I'm playing around with the features now. I definitely like tablet mode for YouTube and email apps.
What settings is this under? I looked in display and app management.

You will need to be rooted and download a build prop editor. I use rom toolbox.
As far as I know any ics from will go into tablet mode with low enough DPI. Some will have issues with phone not working though my personal experience. also market may not show you all available apps or let you update current apps because of DPI change independantly so market won't have issues
That's why paranoid android is useful it allows you to change DPI independantly without negatively effecting phone performance
Okay, so root and ICS first...... I'm reading up and looking at YouTube now. I must say I've been a Samsung user for a while, I'm pretty hyped about this Sony Xperia ion, I want to leave it sick but I can't resist.

U can download a modded play store apj that should allow u to download all apps regardless of dpi or region search xda Ull find it. Fyi

You got it breezy! good luck welcome to well built phones ...lol Its been a while since I've had a Sony lol, had a BB then a a few other androids then went to galaxy nexus for a bit but find Samsungs just feel cheap

Curious if anyone knows any that might work properly ... the text on the screen seems larger than it should be, but I don't want to change it to something that will affect market apps either.
any suggestions?
the most popular app is called LCD resolution. That's the one everyone uses around here anyway. In my opinion it never looked as good as the standard density since some things start to act weird
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I use ROM Toolbox, but it does tend to f with the market saying apps aren't compatible.
How is ROM toolbox with ics?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
ROM Toolbox works fine on ICS, I use the app manager and LCD Density. Doesn't work for changing system fonts, or themes, but I haven't had any FC's or anything. I only use it for those two things so I can't say I've tested it extensively. Hope that helps a little.
Thanks for the help everyone ...appreciate it

Is someone working on porting the smart stay feature from the Galaxy s3 to the s2?
Skickat från min GT-I9300 via Tapatalk 2
I wonder if it is possible 'cause of the difference in hardwarr
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Pretty sure Smart Stay just uses the front camera to see if you are still there. Can't see why it wouldn't work but might be a battery drain. Also not sure if it has hooks into the new touchwiz, which people are looking at porting at present.
No need to port. Use the app called "Super video, floating & popup" from the play store. Works well on the sgs2

Smart Stay is the one which uses the front camera to track your eye to determine whether you are looking at the screen or not. That's Pop-up play you mentioned. I wouldn't use that crappy, buggy & ****ty app though. Hope Pop-Up play is more stable..

Cheers !
My bad. Sorry.

There is no reason, why it should not bepossible to use smartstay on any other mobile phone.
It's only a additional setting that tells the phone to look what the user does after a special time. if you look on it, camera will recognize it and a software will tell the phone, hey user is lookin' at me. thats all.
btw the camera hardware (front and back) of s2 and s3 is completely the same, if you don't believe me, ask samsung, they said that in an official statement.
So is anyone working on getting the Smart Stay feature to our beloved s2??
Is Smart Stay inplemented in TW because i cant find it as an special apk, can anyone help me??
Seriously is noone interested in fixing the SmartStay feature from the GT-I9300 to GT-I9100??
You know it's the feature that keeps the screen on as long as u look at it...
Stop begging and bumping your thread, this will only push devs away from even bothering helping.
If you want it so much look into porting it yourself.

+1,
today i will send a messages to the fourm modertors and maybe they make it happen,
its a good point
I have decided to make a post with everything that I have done to my M to solve some of the issues I and many others I have found had with it.
I suggest you root your phone to get the full benefits of it and these modifications: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940630
How to unlock your bootloader: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2013/04/08/motorola-bootloader-unlocking/
1. Run and function in full screen mode (No Nav Bar) (UPDATED!)
Easy way:
Download full!screen from the app market by tsorn, what makes this aspp so great is that you can set it to turn full screen on only when selected apps are running then you can optionaly set function keys to be placed in the corners for things like a back button, home, or menu, its really great!you can even set the size and opacity of the buttons, as well as location!, this app has made my razsr all i dreamed it would be!
Harder way:
This will require a app called HideBar (shocker..) found on the market it allows you to either use widgets or a system notification to hide/unhide the system bar at the bottom of the screen with multiple options on showing it again, to control your phone without your system bar I use LMT ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150 ) it allows you to control your phone (Back, Home, Search, Menu) with gestures, Input number is 5, please follow the directions in the post, there are others apps that do this as well, all with differnt features, look around. This is great to play games in full screen.
2. Wifi Tether
Follow this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981625
3. Moving Apps 2 SD
This is somewhat a PIA until you get the hang of it but can be done using a app called Directory Bind, Official Thread: ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262 ) discussion on using it with the M here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1913576
There is a easier way to do this if you just want to move large games over 1gb look for gl2sd in the market I tested it on my M and it works fine.
4. Notification Toggle widgets.
This is done using a great app with a amazingly helpful dev called "Notification Toggle" which can be found in the market, it supports all the great Cyanogen Like Toggles that we all love, works better if installed a system app which is really easy!~ just follow the help link in the app to see how he gives multiple examples. This is very customizable sp? from widget button styles to colors and more!
5. Fully working Android 4.2 KB with Trace!(Think Swype.)
I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD! Uses trace like swype and swiftkey, but IMO much much better, less memory, way more accurate and a cool preview function as you "swype". thread found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1964663
If you have any other great improvments you would like to share post them and I will add them to the list!
Thank you!, Hope this helps some of you enjoy your M a little more then you do.
P.S. Feel free to pm me if you need help finding or getting hold of any of apps! however if you Google "Aptoide" I think you will manage getting everything you need to set up your phone very, very, cheaply.
I take no credit for any of the information provided, this is simply a consolidation of information i found useful to modifying the overall enjoyment of my phone.
Gonna give that Notification Toggles widget a shot thanks!

Welcome, its great I changed my background to match the color of the drop down and it looks built in, ill post a screen later.
Also added #5 the android 4.2 Keyboard!
so for the 4.2 keyboard do you just switch apk's or is there some other method to installing it from the "4.2 mod package"?
edit: seeing the stock rom is odexed I'm guessing you just install the apk instead of replacing the stock one?

Its Five for me keep trying different numbers
For full screen you should try full!screen by tsorn It's been working for me. I have been using the free version. The paid version you are supposed to be able to setup full screen for only the apps you want full screen when they are run.
Thank as for the tip ill check it out now sounds more of what I want anyway
Found the app will add it to the post when I get to the PC its a really great app thanks for the heads up
Full!screen is great much better I dare say perfect for what I need.

Has anyone had real success freeing up internal memory using directory bind?? Using it is massively frustrating!! And I'm already frustrated that my new awesome phone is full with apps already
Thanks in advance

Yep. Root, then use root explorer then find your music and copy and paste it to external.

LOL thank you...also it doesn't seem to bind the actual app to the SD card, just the extra data....so it intrinsically only solves like 30% of the problem....
And yeah in addition to all that it's really convoluted

So there has been an influx per app based ROM's as well as those that have been around for a while, and the app eXposed or something like that. So after trying them all I have come to like certain apps a certain way while others I just don't care about what they look like.
I wanna hear from you guys and gals what apps do you change right away and to what?
Mine are gmail and the play store to tablet mode to 160 dpi.

everything to 180 dpi (except the stuff that causes problems)
then settings/statusbar/lockscreen to 160, gmail to tablet mode 160, play store to phablet mode 160, and youtube to the crazy pseudo 3d tablet mode

Read the instructions in the paranoid android thread. I'm currently running root box and using the xposed per app settings.

Folks,
This is pretty slick. First time I've seen it, others probably know about it.
http://highonandroid.com/android-ap...-mode-on-any-rooted-android-smartphonetablet/
Read the article but short version is you can set apps to different resolutions, dpi, font scaling, and force some apps into tablet mode.
I've tried it on MA7 and gmail. I love the tablet version of gmail over the stock "phone" version of gmail.
This is for ROOTED phones only.
There are a few AOSP ROMs that already implement per app dpi, either via Xposed or otherwise. It is a neat feature... Helps fix broken apps that only work on a set screen size.
