Well, I have the International version of the One X updated to Android 4.0.4. Stock ROM. Firmware: 2.17.707.3.
I have read that you can't unlock the boot loader in FW 2.20 (Which I guess it's just for the North American version)… so Do you know if I would be able to unlock, and root my phone?
Yes you can.
I'll give you a hint: htcdev.com

Ok just coming from HD2 running CM7 2.3.4 (flashed a lot of roms on them)
Just got a DHD (yesterday) - has build 1.84.832.2 on it and stuck with Android 2.2.1.
Missing 2.3.4 and no official upgrade yet for HK version.
Questions
How can i root this phone (visionary+ does not appear on market)
is there anyway to upgrade to an official 2.3 rom from another region?

Yes, you can root the phone, but since you have 1.84 FW, you need to downgrade.
Once you downgrade, you can then install CWM recovery and flash different ROMs
*for downgrade guide - CLICK HERE
*for official ROM sources - CLICK HERE (files by andy, credit goes to him)
sorry but u answered the same thing like me but with another words....
uuuuhhhh...no, not really,

Semantics aside - thanks. to both of you.

Unfortunately it is only for the international version.
I'm a noob as well, but I'd say because they have different processors (S4 and Tegra3) you cannot flash the same ROMs...

Hi, Anyone have any solution for Tegra3 version HOX root?
Just brought my HOX a month. Looking forward to root it.
Few Question
- Any root yet for HOX Tegra3 version (i'm from Malaysia)
- Is S-off required to root?
- Do we need to unlock bootloader?
Kinda confuse me on this new device rooting.
Previously I was using DHD. Download an app, one click permanent rooted.

hello everybody,
its first time to me using android os,
and i just bought HTC One X
i read alot of topics about that phone but i got lost when i found alot of things that i don't understand..
so please help me by simple answers cause i am not an expert..
1- what is S-OFF?
2- what is Locked boot loader?
3- is boot loader locked by default for all phone or just the phones that are locked to specific carrier network ?
4- my device is middle east version + officially unlocked for all networks, so is my boot loader locked?
5- i want to flash custom ROM, so i have to do (S-OFF + Root + Unlock BL + Flash ROM)
i know these things are someway connected, but in which order are they done? whats first then whats next?
6- which custom ROM is the best one that have least errors and best reviews so that it will be fast & solve the battery problem ?
i want to install custom ROM for two reasons..

S-On is a security feuture that HTC implemented to allow people to find their lost or stolen phone online. It is S-on by default and they(the awesome people on xda) are still working on a s-off solution.
You can still flash roms with S-on but you need your bootloader unlocked(Every One X has a locked bootloader). There is a noob friendly guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355 on how to do so.
The best rom will depend on your own taste. The sense roms are the least buggy and because they have source code for that. Roms like Charmelean, Leedroid, ARHD and so on. You'll see they are sense roms.
On your nr.5, everything you need to know is on the link 2 paragraphs up.
Hope you manage and wellcome to xda and one X, you'll love it here.

Dude!!! S-off or s-on has absolutely nothing to do with finding your phone! Stop bsing. It's a security feature that HTC implemented to lock certain parts of the system. If you have s-off it means full root.

I am kinda new to the HTC world, i have an Xperia S, which is rather easy to downgrade in contrast to HTC one. After upgrading my HTC One X to 4.2.2 my battery is draining very much, it is nearly unusable. So i wanted to if it is possible to downgrade without opening bootloader or S-OFF or anything.
The answer is simple - not possible.
Because HTC One X has S-On, you can't downgrade. And until now there is no safe nor official method to S-Off it.
Gesendet von meinem ME172V mit Tapatalk 4
only way is unlocking bootloader

Hi,
I am new to this HTC world and even you can say, new to Android world. I purchased HTC One X+ in india recently (so I believe it is an unlocked version, not like AT&T, verizon etc). Yesterday I got an update to Android version 4.2.2, which I did. But now want to move back to 4.1.
Please bare with me and help me out to downgrade the same. Please be simple in using terms, as I am very less experienced in using Android (hardly couple of months).
plz plz plz..... :crying:
Thanks in Advance !

Do not flash anything from this forum or follow any guides in this forum, this is for the one x only.
You need to find the forum specific to the one x+ or you will have problems
