Only time I had issues with it not working was when I dun goofed my root and I think the issue was I didn't have busy box.
make sure that is installed. Also make sure you are rooted first..
Other then that in detail say what is happening.
Exactly the same as cwm. Except all wiping option are put together in the wipe menu, you can select multiple file to flash on after another and fix permissions is in the advanced menu.

man oh man ,, for some reason i can never install cm10 on my galaxy s3 i747m rogers (att) i tried cwm and twrp both said failed whyyyyy is this happening lol
thank goodness i have backups
can someone tell me how come i cant do this, my galaxy already rooted with superuser rootuscanada file ive and my phone is unlocked what is left
???
Exactly what error is it giving you?
I just picked up my s3 yesterday and was receiving an error 7 with both twrp and cwm. Turned out I needed the latest version of cwm (I picked touch) located
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager to be able to successfully flash the latest cm nightly.
I would try updating to the latest cwm... worked for me.

The newest version of TWRP, 2.3.X, isn't supported by all ROMs yet. They made a ton of backend changes to improve performance. And I'm guessing CM hasn't included the new update-binary in their builds.

I been using the latest version of TWRP and flashed today's CM10 with the KT747 kernel. So, it is supported with non problems here.

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S III I747M through Bell, but am a bit lost with ROM flashing. I flashed to new ROM's quite frequently on my old Motorola Milestone, but I am a bit confused with the ROM's for the S III since there are so many variants.
My main question is, as a Bell user am I limited to only d2bell roms or can I change information in the build props or elsewhere to flash d2att roms? I am currently running rooted CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 and my have been unsuccessful so far in flashing ROMs.

I had the same problem but prefer twrp over cwm so all I did was change my build.prop in rom toolbox, then downloaded goo.im from the playstore. You can flash twrp in app and because I changed the build.prop to say dtatt instead of d2can,it installed the at&t recovery, now I have no problem flashing anything. Hope that helps.

i initially got twrp via goo w/o chaning d2can to d2att. I've made backups etc already.
If i decide to change to d2att and resintall twrp as d2att
1) can I use the older d2can backups?
2) does reinstalling it on top of d2can's twrp work?

Does changing from a d2can to d1att version of twrp work the same way? I can just flash on top of the existing wihtout any uninstalls and im assuming the d2att can still load d2can backups?
I know twrp are backward compatible, but are they cross version compatible?

If you flash that recovery file it only changes your version of cwr.

Hey guys, I just picked up a new Galaxy S3 this morning and I'm not sure how to install a custom AOKP rom.
I've already rooted the phone, but because the firmware is 4.1.1 I'm unsure how to proceed.
Should I just install the latest AOKP rom version, or do I need to upgrade to a newer firmware while still using stock and go from there?

Than you can flash any ROM you want. If you want Tasks aokp just download the newest version and most recent gapps and flash as instructed in the thread.

It's not really an issue, I just tend to be somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to boot logos and animations.
Either way, I don't know much about compiling kernels. And the consensus seems to be that your kernel is pretty good, so I'm gonna stick with it.

So I successfully rooted my S3 (Bell I747M), installed TWRP recovery, booted into the recovery, created a backup (thank god!), wiped using TWRP (factory reset -> wipe dalvik -> wipe cache -> wipe data) and then went into install, selected the CyanogenMod zip and swiped to flash. Failed. Every time. I tried numerous wipes but flashing CM just kept on failing. So I got fed up and restored to my backup.
But I really want CM! One more maybe-important thing is that when I was installing TWRP, it said my device was d2can, even though my device is actually I747M. But I remember when downloading CM I had to download the d2att version (that was listed as the one compatible with my I747M), but TWRP was saying d2can and not giving me the option to choose anything else so I just went with it.
Please try and help me!

I had a similar issue and im trying to recall what I did to overcome this..

Thanks for the reply.
I haven't tried flashing any other room but I have successfully flashed a debloating software made by mrRobinson.
Also‚ I'm not using CWM‚ I'm using TWRP. I installed it through the GooManager app found in the Play store.

Yup just in odin like a root file. It goes in the pda section. Uncheck reboot,. When it finishes unhook the cable pull the battery and than reboot into recovery after. Sometimes the flash doesn't stick after a reboot.
Cm10.1 has a release candidate out right now rc4 it's pretty stable.
You'll need to make sure your bootlader is up to date before you flash it though.

The second link has the latest boot loaders sorry I should have mentioned that. It has to match the one listed.
I don't know what you downloaded but the twrp recovery off their site should be the .tar to load in odin. The .img file you'd have to load using adb. Easier to use the odin file. No unzipping just flash with odin.

Could you please tell me what method was used? I have a Bell GS3 as well. I followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 to get root and recovery today. Hi,
I am new to Android flashing/rooting world.
I started with stock 4.1.2, rooted and flashed to miuiandroid .27 which brought me to 4.2.2
I am now trying to install Titanium Backup and it says it cant get root access.
Can I use the same SuperUser file to flash PDA using Odin that I used on 4.1.2 or do I need to root it with a different file (4.2.2 version) ?
I am using S3 I747m d2att.

I figured it out and now everything works thanks!
...but im really confused by it all.
Im not new to rooting or flashing roms etc but im confused with all the different builds and my efs folder and what not.
I came from having a moto atrix and a htc desire before that.
My phone is currently on stock XXDME6 with baseband DMF1 and im in the UK.
Can someone point me in the right direction to be able to root, install TWRP recovery and flash miui v5 please?
Any help would be much appreciated.

For TWRP: HERE
MIUI thread: HERE
Once TWRP installed make sure to make a Nandroid Backup and check EFS partition.
Then you will be able to flash MIUI safely.
The easiest way to root is chainfires autoroot but that won't give you custom recovery you will have to flash separately. Dr ketan has published a gude that is stickied, you can't go wrong if you follow that and dr ketan is always helpful and friendly if your confused

If i root using CF auto root, how do i flash the twrp recovery?
Is it only roms built using a stock base that i have to worry about the build number then?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You can flash any build number I think the issue is with the latest modem which once flashed can't be downgraded . There are a few threads on it. If you want to use auto root you can use something like rom toolbox pro or I used mobile odin to flash a custom recovery. Personally I recommend phils touch recovery. I think he has an all in one root and custom recovery package that you just flash with odin
