Nothing. You are probably running a custom rom which added in the extra options.

Interesting. I should try a pure 4.1.2 then.. I'm currently on snapblack 1.5
Will check it out...thanks.

Im curious. Does it crash the RIL if you choose LTE?
Nevermind
Checked stock and it does not show up.
The snap black tho gives me the choices... once selected it reverts to WCDMA Preferred.

Maybe something got incorporated from a Verizon rom on your rom. Stock 4.1.2, MIUI 4.1.2 and the latest cm10 nightly do not show this for me.

That sounds right. I've got a GS3 from Verizon with CM10.1 and I get that 4636 menu. In fact, I needed it last week when I tried to use my phone in Europe. Without changing things in that menu, I wasn't able to get my phone to work on a GSM network.
Even after, I changed it to see the GSM network, I could receive calls, but not texts. I couldn't send texts either.

I'm on Android 4.2.2, running the new Liquid ROM. Only uses 3G, and same with android 4.2.1. When I switch back to 4.1.2, 4G WORKS
By the way it's a T-Mobile Galaxy S3, any help?

Do something to use data, like browse a page or download an app... Does it switch to 4G?
Are you on the latest modem?

This is stated in the OP for the Q&A for that ROM. You still get your 4G speeds, it will just show as 3G, H, or H+. Did you do a speed test on your data connection to see what speeds you were actually getting?

No, the OP for the Liquid ROM he said he was using.
Thank you! I downloaded the latest modem from DocHoliday and it displays 3G only when Data isn't used, but when data is being used it shows as H/H+.
So I was wondering if T-Mobile had refarmed my area with the 1900 MHz frequency...I used pasted *#*#4636#*#* into my phone dialer and I pressed the menu button and selected the USA (1900) Band...I was on Edge, so I realized T-Mobile did not refarm my area yet...However, my phone is stuck on the 1900 MHz band...I can't go back to AWS for some reason. I've tried rebooting and reflashing my radio, but to no avail...I'm on AOKP 4.2.2 (March 22 nightly) with Cerux Kernel. I was wondering if anyone had a clue as to how to return to 1700 MHz(AWS)
Surprised that you got the code to work on a jb rom. None of the codes work except imei on mine. You have to go into service mode and find phone settings for band *#32489#. Hit back a few times and you will see the menu if you can get the code to work. It still works on gb roms but not on jb for me

So, do I have to flash another ROM? I just restored a nandroid of SlimBean, but it's still stuck on Edge...
Yes get a gb rom. Then type *#*#197328640#*#* into dialer and it will give you service mode menu. From there find band settings and you will be able to change frequency. Once you change it you can reinstall a jb rom and settings will stick

Thank you for this information. I will install "Juggernaut 5.0 (Feb 18, 2012)", and see if it works. You've been very informative and helpful! +1

It should work fine. I have changed a few settings on my phone using the service menu in the past. Like I said the settings will stick even if you flash another rom so you should be ok.

Tmo is doing lots of work and I have noticed lots of flaky data lately.
I would hold off on blaming the phone, as I myself this week have had to switch airplane mode and do reboots to get out of edge/no data.

Periodically whenever I'm using my mobile 3G connection on my Galaxy Nexus, my data just completely goes out and I have to toggle Airplane mode to bring it back (sometimes reboot.)
I'm running Android 4.2.2 (custom rom) and my baseband version is L700.005 V.FD02 / L700.FD02. Can anyone help me out? This is getting so annoying and I can't seem to fix it.

To what? There's a bunch of radios online.
FG01 is the most current radio which is the update from FD02. I am running FG01 with no issues on 3G or LTE.

I updated to FG01. While the problem seems to be gone now, now my data speeds are terrible. I guess I'll put up with it.

Isn't it GA02?
GA02 is the newest
Edit: If u go to the sourcery thread, the second or third post has a flashable zip, for the GA02 radios

You might be right GA02 does look like the newest. I am on Sprint so for my device FG01 is the most current. I looked into the radios and it depends on what provider you have.
Damnit. I got numerous data drops today, and I'm on the GA02 radio as well...

My phone now shows 4G, when for the last 9 months it was 4G LTE. I'm running ParanoidKangdroid 4.2.2, and i've never had a problem with the rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. The down/up speed has also slowed down.

if you look in settings, about phone, status, you can see if you're actually connected to lte or not. I think its labeled mobile network type.

It says LTE:13, so how come it stopped showing 4G LTE in the status bar? Is this an AT&T thing? Thanks.
No idea... I'm on quantum and it shows 4g LTE. As long as the status does LTE you should be fine

Question...for the last 9 months were you running a TW based ROM or ParanoidKangdroid 4.2.2. Most stock TW based roms show 4G LTE for LTE and 4G for H+ (for AT&T and most US carriers anyway). In AOSP world, I have always seen LTE show simply as 4G, 3G as H, H+, or 3G, and 2G as E.

I've been running ParanoidKangdroid, and this 4G thing only started on Wed. Maybe it's time for a new rom. Is there a good, stable 4.3 rom, that anyone can recommend? Thanks.

The stock rom that loserskater modded is knoxless and Selinux is permissive is very stable for me. If you don't like the touch wiz experience then download a launcher app from play store.

I hope this is an easy answer, but for whatever reason when I am on a 4.4 rom I get no LTE service. I have perfect 4g and edge, but whenever I switch it to allow LTE it allows shows no data service. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance guys. Oh and I get LTE on 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 roms. My current rom is SlimKat

I am using simple mobile apn. They have an app that sets the apn for you. I get lte with the same apn on stock roms. But even when I use tmobile.fast All I get is a max of 7 down.

I am using the stock kernel that came with aokp. I did download selinux changer and changed it to permisseve. It made very little change. I did make a backup of my efs folder in twrp I am going to try restoring that. I remember someone telling me to do that before when kitkat first came out.
---------- Post added at 09:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:29 PM ----------
I just tried restoring my efs folder and now I got 25 down on the first test, the second test i only got 1 mbps download, and the third was the same as the second. I dont know if it is because I have low signal or what but that is prety weird. I am going to to go out and try a few diffedrent spots where the signal is stronger. I dont care if I get crappy speeds at my house because I have wifi but I just want to make sure that it is working properly.
