+1. The next top tier phone will always have a vast selection of roms. I don't care about friendliness, if you're a fool you'll get dominated wherever you go.

I have used Desire for more than two years. All stock, never messed with it, and it was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. I loved it!
Now, I have One X, and that's a different pleasure. I got it rooted, and it has a great, smooth, fast, reliable, and battery light ROM.
Desire I handed over to my wife, and she still lets me touch it.
S III would be my second choice...
But now, when One X+ is announced, there is no dilema!!

i quite agree the s111 is the phone my wife upgraded to when i got her desire but i told her to get the X1 so hope i see all of you in the s111 forum in a couple yrs

I think One X is a good option.

Might go Nexus this this time around... Depending on what Google releases on Oct 29th. It's probably the LG Nexus... well see if I'll be convinced that its a great device.
OneX+ would be my 2nd choice..

Your desire wears off?

Tricky title?
I don't know if this is the correct subforum... if not, mods please transfer.
Anyway... As many of you probably did, I have had many phones. The thing is that with my previous devices, the desire for them got lost in like a week after I purchased the device. But with the HTC Desire, I have kinda different feeling. I mean, I purchased my Desire like a month now, and I am not a bit bored by it. It still looks fun to me, and I still find interesting things to do with it. So, what is your opinions about this? How long did you enjoyed your new "shiny" device, and for how long you have been (are) enjoying the Desire?
I know for me the fact I can mould the phone how I want has played a huge part in keeping me interested. I usually upgrade to nokia E class phone, the E71 was my last phone, but coming from a linux fanboy the Desire feels like -my- phone just like my laptop is moulded exactly how I want it.
The fact its the first phone I've owned that has yet to struggle with anything I throw at it helps a huge amount too

Longer then the HTC HD2, BlackBerry Bold
This device is amazing indeed. I still have moments that I look at it and think... wow And soon Froyo will come, which will give you another few weeks of 'new enjoyment'. Also I still hope that the Android Market is going to start filling with great quality apps soon :0) Angry Birds this summer is a must have game.
And in Q4, Android 3 may be released and we can start enjoying that. (probably not from HTC, but from XDA) There is lots going on in the Android World!

I'm pretty much bored with it as I get with any phone once you do all with it you wanted. It becomes just another phone. The only difference with this one is that I'm hell angry on HTC for there build quality in general which covers everything from the poor UMTS reception to the stupid body design with button back light shining through micro holes under the screen.

Been happy with my HTC phones since I opened up a box of Magics and knew I was buying one by the end of the day. I've now had a Magic, a Hero and now my Desire and I always find something new to do or try out every week and that's without having rooted the phone. Before this I've had a S.E. W950 and after an E71 and while I've had my Hero I've had an iPhone and I've got to say that the iPhone has nothing on the overall features and abilities of even my Hero.

[Q] New phone or continue with my Desire?

I love my HTC Desire more than any phone I have ever had. I baught it the day it came out, and I have not had any trouble with it ever since. I have used CM since 6.x version and I love the product. It has kept me up to date without having to upgrade my phone.
Now im testing out some of the ISC versions that works on my phone, still I feel that the hardware is now not enough for me, (including cam- quality, and especially internal memory and processor speed).
So I wonder what phone should I consider if I decide to buy a new phone? Or should I wait for something extraordinary to come on the market?
Wait for HTC Edge or Ville. I also came to conclusion that I want better GPU and better camera. For 2-year-old phone Desire is still unbelievable competitive.

Those two phones looks amazing, especially the Edge with the quad-core. Hope the camera could be a reasonably replacement for a digital camera. I havent seen many phones that can match the flash that regular digital cameras have.
I am more devoted to stay with HTC after I saw they have the HTCdev.com .
Was considering to look into some of the samsung- phones, but I feel its a bit more plastic than HTC.
I agree with mikbe on this one. My Desire is suprisingly competitive after almost two years. If I should buy a phone today, it would probably be the SII. But since my Desire is still alive and kicking, I'm gonna wait for the "next big thing", whatever (or whoever) that might be. I love my HTC, but I'm not married to them Maybe the SIII...?

After experimenting with launchers and AOSP I have always come back to Sense. That's why HTC is my next phone.
i got the galaxy nexus, but i still use the desire, its just more fun playing with different roms & mods

Same here, still enjoying my Desire as if I got it yesterday.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
if you buy today, then I would choose HTC Sensation
but it is reasonable to wait for HTC Edge
if you buy the Samsung I bought a samsung galaxy nexus
Just be a few weeks until the next set of HTC phones will be released at MWC. I would wait until after then - something might grab you, or if not, the current phones should come down in price. This is the worst time to buy just now!

after my htc desire I may switch to the htc sensation
though...i also like the size and look of it very much
having a tablet some of the 'new-power-devices' features are not required
i may even go back to a smaller phone next time...so having more a 'telephone' than a small supercomputer
I was htc fan for many years now..but also considering a samsung as my next android phone
I think I will wait for the next great HTC phone. Now that I have Sandvolds ICS I can float a bit longer. And now that I have an extra partition I can install lots of stuff. The ICS is a bit buggy, bit hopefully it will become complete. Sandvold is doing a great job. Recommend it for everyone !

Buy the HTC ONE X or wait?

Hello everyone, i still didnt buy the X, waited to see the reviews after launch so far so bad.
Do you think its better to wait SGIII or just buy the phone ? Plz details.
Its better if you own the phone to answer the question.

Up to you. Specs or OS? Sense vs TouchWiz.
Sure the SGS3 may beat the HOX on specs we all know that! But it comes down to user experience and Sense beats TW. Unless TouchWiz 5 will be a complete revamp we don't know!
You can wait but you'll be waiting forever there's always something better around the corner. Choose what's important for you.
Wait!.... err I mean BUY IT!
Really?
Every new phone will have issues, will always be like that, the SG3 will also have issues.
Just buy the One-X or wait for ever on your "perfect" phone

I agree with this...you can sit and wait for the "best" phone, or just jump in and get it done. Who's to say the SGS won't have issues?? That is not to say "Buy the OneX", or "Buy the SGSIII"...it just means, you can sit and debate what will be best until you die and never have a new phone.
For my 2c, if you are asking this question, it means you really just want someone to justify what you already want, so just go out and buy it. I did and I am really happy with it. Sure, there are one or two niggling things, but all phones will have those...seriously, this thing is freaking amazing. If you want it, just do it...if you want the SGS, hang out for a while. Simple.
Getting my OneX after weekend. If in couple of months I will prefer S3 then I will change. if not i will continue with pretty awesome OneX
If you would have aproved specs for S3, then I would say choose w/e you like best.
But since there are only rumors around S3, then it can take forever to get released, by time its released theres soemthing else to come! Its same as w8ing to be 80years old to finally buy a house.
Want upgrade? Found phone you like? GO FOR IT
The One X just happened to be released first after my contract was up - so I got one - if the SGS3 was available earlier I may have got that.
One X is superb and I will not be regretting this decision so unless you just prefer Samsung for some reason get the One X and enjoy it NOW

Dude ....you have your eyes in your back pocket or what ! This is a post from 7-4-2012 !!! :banghead:

So long and thanks for all the fish - General thread

Seeing as HTC OneX became available in the various parts of the world, I see many Tapatalk signatures boasting their new hardware.
This be the thread where you will say goodbye, a word or two about how happy you're with your phone, and the climate on your new boards, profiles of people who hang there, lack of ICS hysteria etc etc., so we might see where you went.
Let the festivities begin

I wish I could post here. ;-)
Probably soon...
6 days en-counting
I had one last Thursday from expansys. Used it till Saturday when I became so irritated by the camrecord freezes I gave it to my son for my old sgs2. Its good, and when the battery usage and other minor software glitches have been sorted will no doubt be a winner. However, seeing the chance to shift it without having to suffer eblag was too good to miss. I have now registered to preorder the sgs3. After the sgs2 it will have to be stunning...yes far more so than a One X. With or without heavy muli-tasking I did not find the One X stunningly fast I wouldn't have said any better than this samsung. The HTC build quality and shape is an impressive piece of design and QA. You can't fault it's manufacture but with an iffy camera even the multi-task button and bfo screen couldn't swing it for me. So I wouldn't dis it as it's undoubtedly the best phone on the market at the moment. Samsung have no doubt now have committed one of their spec options to production and won't be searching for a 1.28 update within 3 days of it's release.

The one series is brutal but HTC are losing out on reliability. The phones are lovely, clean and the usual awesomness but it has no spark. I can't help but feel there is something missing when having a play on the one series. I don't know why but I might drop HTC after so many years and go towards Motorola.
The G1 is still king in my eyes.

Use search function!! How many times must you noobs be tol...oops, got carried away there for a sec
I reverted my Desire to RCMix2.0 last night (for anyone reading or using SEARCH, the BEST ROM in the history of phone modding), because I know it to be reliable. Then I charged the phone and placed it back in it's box and *sniff* buried it *sniff* in the *sniff* bottom drawer of my *sniff* bedside table *sniff, sob, sniff*
If I may say a few words...it was a good and just phone. It went anywhere and did anything I wanted it to (and I mean anything...this phone could vibrate on demand!!). Sure, we had our moments, like the times it'd hit boot screen after a fresh flash and just hang there, looking stupid...but a quick rip out of battery and kick in the guts usually had us walking, and talking, phone in hand, off into the sunset again.
But I musn't cry...I know Desy would want me to move on and be happy...and lemme tell you, I am more than happy. I have found the most wonderful, sweet, caring and beautiful replacement phone I have ever known! She is so smooth to the touch, performs in ways I only ever dreamed of...I am actually hesitant to enhance or modify her, she is so perfect. And when she gazes into my eyes with that big, beautiful screen...all the pain of losing my Desy seems so distant. I am just so happy now!!
Farewell from me too.
Desire has served me very well - my contract ran out 6 months ago, but there was nothing else out there that offered that much more than my trusty Desire and the huge choice of custom roms on XDA (thanks to great work from the devs here)
Then the One X was released.....
Move u lot,, desire 4 life!!!

I cant accept the changes brought in by the One X, so I'm sticking with my Desire till the S3 comes along and topples the One X..

I'm waiting for the S3 too! My little hope is it having a quad core with cortex A15 cores and a new gpu... But I'm dreaming at first I've said "if S3 it's not better than One X, I will stick to HTC", but after reading some "not too much positive" feedback (mainly about Tegra 3) I will leave the One X where it is
If that's not the case (about cpu/gpu) and the S3 it's not that surprising, I think I will wait a little longer with my lil' old desire, the new oxygen MildWild 3.9 got me a new phone

I'll be saying my farewell now as well. Had my One X now for about a week... already rooted with a few mods on it now
Desire won't be going far though as the other half has it now, and I'll still be watching the desire section as she wants to have ICS on there asap.... but wants to takes pics and vids too so it's GB for the moment.

I'm sticking around for yet a while. Maybe even until next year. As I see it, the step from desire to todays top of the line is just to small. I don't want to pay that much for such a small change.
The development may seem slow to us consumers, but that only means that developers have more models in their product pipelines. I'm waiting for that number of models to reach critical mass, forcing developers to skip several steps in the pipeline queue and release some serious hi tech all of a sudden.
My guess is that the sgs2 was so good that the market became saturated in combination with Apple not releasing #5.
I hope that when either critical mass is reached or #5 is released, some first class equipment will see the light of day, that companies will release second rate (compared to the above) gear at a sale and that everyone dumps prices and runs for the hills.
Or I might settle for Samsung 3
I just bought a Nexus 4 two days ago. Damn phone is sexy as hell. Fast too! So yeah, thanks to everyone who made my first Android experience well worth it. I learned a lot from here but now it's time I move on to more exciting things
Shout out to the developers for their hard work and patience
Sorry for bringing this thread back from the grave. I hope I see some of ya'll on the Nexus 4 threads..

[Q] One X worth it?

Few days ago I ordered One X and paid almost 700€ for it (Yea I'm dumb, I know), now I'm reading comments reviews about the phone on places like phonearena and gsm arena etc. They are all praise the phone like "The Best Android Phone period".
But I find those reviews pretty much useless, because obviously they don't say a word about unlocking bootloaders or flashing custom ROMs. Then again SGS2, GNex and possibly SGS3 are consireded as 'developer phones' and they recive a lot of developement from the community.
So did I just waste 300€ (As I could have bought GNex for 400€) for One X, or is it really worth it, development vise. I probably get rid of Sense on the first day so things like that are irrelevant. So I'd like to know are things like S-OFF and CWM aviable and is the phone generally easy to work with.
sorry about my english/ sorry if posted elsewhere
Only the S-OFF is a pickle atm, matter of time that we get it I guess. Silly to ask if HTC Flagship phone will have development Answer is: It will have plenty

Haha you're not the only one who made the dumb decision for paying 700€, I paid 649€ for mine but you know... I'm very satisfied with this phone so to hell with that. But back on topic; I go with Nubzori; this device is THE current flagship of HTC. It will undoubtedly have plenty of development.
i paid €480

As a former Samsung Captivate and a recently stolen Samsung Galaxy S2 owner I am also new to the HTC world and I now feel like a complete noob. I just got my HOX today and I am still waiting for my SIM to be activated (Murphys Law I went to my phone company and their system was down).
I have high expectations for the XDA community on this phone, I remember when I got my Captivate I was frustrated and wanted to throw it in the garbage can after a few days, only to be in love with it months later after a good dose of Cognition and CM7. It got me to upgrade to a SGS2 which til the day it got stolen it was a beast.
So far I have culture shock. I am missing the deep blacks but I think I will be over it in no time. I am worried about photo quality compared to SGS2 but I have shoot a few test shots and I am ok with the photo quality in HOX. I do have to say the camera interface rocks big time!!!!
I remember how disgusted I was the first few weeks with Touchwiz on both my SGS and SGS2 but I am kind of digging Sense 4.0. I hope we can get great ROMS based on it and ROMS that optimize processor power and battery life.
