[Q] Is there a AT&T Stock FW minus bloat w/ GW ? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello.
Is there a stock AT&T firmware (rooted) without all the boat ? Something like "Clean ROM" ? I'm looking for this ROM and if it would have Google Wallet working, well .. that would be great! If this doesn't exist, what would be similar ?
Thanks in advance

You can try kyan rom i think that matches what you want perfectly
If you also want a slight speed increase you can try high on android.
Hope this helps

Alternatively you can just root your stock rom, if you havent already and then use the Debloater app to remove what you dont want/need.
Rooting Guide
Debloater Mod Thread

After rooting you can also install titanium backup and freeze or uninstall any apps you don't want

I'm using Truine II 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich from Alliance rom (available in the android development section)...it works flawlessly and it looks perfectly stock without the bloats...and also has awesome beats throw in, that never hurts...

Should i Root and install CM10 ?

Hi
I just bought a S3 yeah \o/
Now my question, im under BELL, the phone was originaly from ROGERS. So i have all the rogers app, booo.
I know Jelly Bean is coming soon.
So my question is :
If i Root, and install CM10 by exemple, i know the the original Rom in the S3 have a lots of nice tweek and option.
if i install CM10, will i loose all those option and tweek ? Or those should already be in CM10 ????
Other scenario, if i wait for BELL to push Jellybean, will it get all the rogers app out ? And be a real bell phone after the push ?
Thanks

What tweaks are you talking about? CM10 is based on AOSP so all Touch Wiz options are gone, for example all the Motion features are going to be gone, and the camera features and settings those are also going to be gone.
CM10 has its own features, but they are not the same as TW interface.
You will lose all of the "smart" features by flashing any cm10/aokp rom. You will also have all of the bloat apps from rogers removed.
another alternative would be to root the phone, and install titanium backup and just remove the bloat apps yourself using that app. If you wanted to keep all of the "smart" features.
Either way it is very simple to restore back to stock rom so you can receive the OTA jellybean update whenever it pops off. You simply download the firmware for the Rogers device (unrooted and stock recovery) and then flash that using odin and it will bring you back to stock so you can get the jb update.
**go here and search i747m and get the rogers stock rom if you ever wish to restore so you can get the ota jb update, even though when its released you will see a pile of roms built based off of it so you could just flash one of those to get jellybean goodness**

To get rid of rogers apps without root all I did was find them in application manager and disabled them.

To the OP, you can root and not have to try one of the custom roms. If you really like some of the samsung features then try one of the roms that is based on the samsung touchwiz roms. AOSP based roms like CM10 will be missing many of the little things that samsung put in their phones.
Sounds like you want all the Samsung tweaks, so I'd go with Drewgaren's rom, found in the android development section for this device. It's a great ROM but I still prefer CM10.
As a big camera guy, I REALLY like the Samsung camera app, but the AOSP setup is a lot cleaner, faster, is better with google services and more uniform looking... Currently JB AOSP based stuff isn't perfect either as there is no GS3 JB source, I've used AOKP a lot and really like it, but with searching for a new job I really need to make sure I have a stable and bug free phone.
I have a nandroid of both and swap back and forth occasionally... I'm crazy!

Thanks guys i might wait a little bit for the jelly bean soon maybe

Jelly bean should be out for the AT&T S3 within the next couple of weeks.
definitly flash cm10. you'll loose touchwiz features like s voice, smart stay, ect because you are flashing an aosp rom. the advantage is that the rom is alot smaller and lighter so you get a huge speed increase and better battery life. if your worried about stability i can say from experience cm10 is currently much more stable than what i got from at&t out of the box.
make a nandroid before you flash so you can always flash back and recieve the ota when it comes out.

Successfully Root SGS3 4.1.1 T999

Hello, first time thread poster here
I have a Wind Mobile SGS3 T-999V with 4.1.1 Jelly bean and Im still looking for a way to successfully root my device.
Ive looked around but most of these threads comments have problems and don't work after the new Jelly Bean update that rolled out last week.
Was just looking for advice on the best way to do it (MAC preferably but Windows works too) to root my SGS3, any compatible recoveries that work on the device and any advice on ROMs that will help me save battery, get rid of bloat ware and make my phone faster and more efficient.
Thanks a lot! :cyclops:
More information of my device can be given if needed!
P.S. I actually have a few friends that are awaiting ways to do this too so any info will help about 5+ people more so than just myself!
Im just the test dummy to see if the rooting method and ROMs work!
Root just as before, no difference with jb.
I still root the same way I did on ics and works perfectly.

You can odin root66 from official firmware thread in stickies from development forum.
As to recovery there are two which I know of, twrp or cwm.
And as to rom, I recommend FrostyJB. Great rom with very good battery life (around 20h on mid-heavy use), most of bloat removed. With right kernel you can overclock it to work even faster, it's fast already. Try ktoonsez or trinity kernel. Both are confirmed to work.

Thanks a lot I tried the Root66 and it worked easily.
Will FrostyJB get rid of any of the SGS3 features such as smart stay and calling when you put the phone to your ear?
And also what do you find is the easiest way to install ClockWork Mod for it? Because ROM manager doesnt seem to have the recovery for WIND/T-MOBILE SGS3s
Thanks a lot for your help!

Things like smart stay, motion, etc. are available in FrostyJB. Like in every stock (tw) based rom. But unfortunately DJ stopped his work on that ROM and there will be no new versions, but in current release everything is stable and works great.
I have installed cwm using rom manager. It worked great for me. Are you sure you are doing everything right?

[Q] Which Rom/Region?

This seems like a question I should be able to find an answer to myself, but I have searched all throughout the N7100 forum and can't seem to find my answer.
I have the Galaxy Note II International Version (GT-N7100). I rooted it with the Samsung Galaxy Note2 Toolkit
When I rooted, I had version 4.1.1 of android. It didn't get any OTA updates since it was rooted. I would like version 4.1.2 so I can run the Samsung Multi WIndow Manager so that I can use any app in the MultiWIndow mode.
What's the best way to do this? I tried flashing a stock rom, but I got stuck when I was required to download a stock ROM. I'm in the United States, but I don't see any region with United States so I don't know which I should get.
Sooo... Is this the proper way to update the Samsung rom if I had it rooted? Is there a better way?
What rom is best to use? Which region do I need for the U.S.? I mainly want to use the multi-window support and my understanding is that I must use a Samsung rom for that. I believe that was true when I first researched it. Is it still true today?
Thanks!
Maybe I'm being dense but did you also unlock your phone and install a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP?)
If so, you should be able to download a rom for your phone, install and enjoy the fruits of your labors. Look for roms that are based on TouchWiz and you should retain the samsung features you want. AOSP roms are base android and will not have those samsung customizations.
I don't know what "region" has to do with it though, just pick a rom that's compatible with N-7100

Thanks for the response, TrojanDroid. If region doesn't matter and I can install any TouchWiz based rom then that makes me very happy. I've used mods on other phones in the past and never had to worry about region.
Yes, I used the toolkit to install TWRP, Busybox, and Root the phone. The reason I asked about region is because I figured the easiest way to upgrade to 4.1.2 or higher would be to flash the newer stock rom. This is the webpage with an extremely large list of stock roms that the tool left me with though, which is where my question came from: http samsung-updates .com /device/ ?id=GT-N7100 (I can't post links yet)
I use the Samsung Multi Window and S-Pen features often. Is it accurate to say that as long as a rom is TouchWiz based, I will still be able to fully take advantage of those features?
You should update to any latest rom, bcoz 4.1.1 having sudden death bug and your device can be brick suddenly without a reason.
Anyway 4.1.2 stock rom itself having Multiwindow but to use any application in Multiwindow you will need to have moved version.
You can achieve it with xposed module (is simply needs rooted device +two simple apk to install)
Now what I recommend
1.You already have rooted device with cwm then make efs backup (can use Multitool from my signature for that)
2 . update latest rom (like mg1 is good in my point of view) with odin.
3.again you can use Multitool to root device.
4 . find xposed module and framework for Multiwindow mod to use any application in mw
OR
Find AnyMod from my signature and enjoy many extra features on your stock rom.
Goodluck

Thanks for the input. I have now successfully installed Thunder Lite and it seems to fit my requirements. I may investigate and play around with a few other roms in the future as well, since now I know that any Samsung based rom should work for me.
Thanks!

[Q] Looking for Stock Rooted 4.2.2 ROM for VZW

I just got a SCH I515 for my mother and it's currently running Cyanogenmod 10.2. This is going to be her first smartphone, but she's familiar with the stock ROM on my Note 2. So, I was looking for a stock rooted 4.2.2 ROM. I've tried searching for a stock rooted ROM without any luck. I really don't need a rooted ROM for her, but I'd really like to run Rom Toolbox and Titanium Backup.
So, does anyone have a link to a stock rooted ROM? If there's one that has all the bloatware removed like the Sophisticated ROM I ran on my Note 2 that'd be ideal.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I have no experience with the i515.
As far as I know there are no TouchWiz ROMs for the i535 at version 4.2.2 because it never official got the update (straight from 4.1.2 to 4.3.0). Are you looking specifically for TouchWiz ROMs or are AOSP acceptable too?

I'd prefer a TouchWiz ROM as my mom is somewhat familiar with that. I'm really just looking for a debloated stock ROM.

I know many people on Google+ that swear by this ROM. It's called Shiny ROM. Here's a link to the page on Rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-romaosp3914-shiny-rom-ota-like-stock-android-442-kvt49l/

That looks like a good ROM. Is there a way I can use the Samsung TouchWiz keyboard on an AOSP ROM? I personally hated the kb in every AOSP ROM I tried on my Note 2.

[Q] Bootloader question :)

I recently updated my N7105 to the recent 4.4.2 Nordic ROM ( n7105xxufnd3 )that was floating round that tripped my Knox, which I dont care about.
When i got sick of the updates abysmal battery life i flashed the latest stable release of CM for the GNII LTE a 4.3 based ROM with out issues.
But I'd like to know if i can revert back to my original ROM i.e. WanamLite MC3 V1.3, a TW 4.1.2 based ROM, for its spen support, battery life, atpx and boeffla sound support (im a big music listener) w/ Wanam's Adam Kernel.
Can i do this with out running into any issues, despite the gap between a 4.4.2 boot-loader (as I've been told i cant roll-back from this version) to a TW 4.1.2 ROM?
Thanks in advance guys

Based from what I remember, devs say that when you are with KK BL (ND3), you cannot flash a stock rom lower than it and the lowest custom rom that you can flash is 4.3.
Is there anyway i can flash an older bootloader? and/or is there a similar ROM to Wanam's that uses 4.3 as its base?
As awesome as CM is, there are touchwiz features specific to the note series that are hard to implement on CM/ASOP based ROMS :/

Do not try to install anything lower as it will break device. I'm sorry, I know nothing about wanam lite.
I have a unrooted note 2, manually installed 4.4.2 as 4.3 had major battery issues.
Things got worse for me in 4.4.2 nordic countries and I went and downloaded the offical roms from sammobile and am now back on 4.1.1 offical.
It can be done.

Wow, I thought once you are in a higher bootloader, you cannot install a lower one. No problems at all?
I'm sorry if I gave out wrong info, that was how I knew it was.
I have no issues at all.
Apart from missing out on features from 4.1.2 and above everything works as if I didnt update the device at all.
I would not do a restore from higher up android versions but if you start feom scratch its all good.
And I can say my zero lemon battery is working at it should be, I now have days worth of battery life.
I'm getting invalid kernel/ ramdisk size error on bootloader screen. This is the first time I got this error while entering recovery screen. I'm don't know much about this. Please help.
I have rooted Moto X (2013) running LiquidSmooth v 3.2

Sorry champ but this threqd is for a galaxy note 2 specifically a gt7105 and has installed a samsung stock rom, I have done this and have gone back to 4.1.1 but seeing as you have a rooted romed moto x it is out of my league.
I dare say this process is incompatible with the moto x and seeing as you can get into recovery or cwm or what ever its called you can still flash a rom with the relavent bootloader that was previous to your dilemma
