Hi, i've unlocked bootloader, flashed recovery, rooted my phone now i need to get a good ROM. Can someone please tell me which is the easiest ROM to install without having to go to bootloader unlock, relock it etc...that will be a real pain in the as*.
I don't care which ROM as long as it has a better battery life than original version and solves WI-FI issues..
Thanks
First; try a better thread-name.
Second; I don't know what you mean, if you talk about unlock the bootloader again ..
If you already have done that, why would you need to do that again o0
Try IceColdJelly, it has Android 4.1(.1?), is very smooth and has a very good battery life.

In cmd (on your computer)
Flash the boot.img which you should extract out the Rom.zip you downloaded
Then flash it in fastboot.
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then fastboot clear cache
Then reboot the phone :-
Sent from my HTC One X
You need to flash the boot.img through fastboot. Put the boot.img into your fastboot folder and open a cmd window there. Then boot your phone into fastboot mode and run the commands "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and "fastboot erase cache"

it tells you EVERYTHING you need to know, read through it and other guides.
you are the reason ROM flashing shouldnt be available to everyone, you should have to pass a test first to ensure you know what you are doing and not outsmarted by a tree.
I'm sure you'll find everything you need to know here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891

Be nice, this is supposed to be a friendly community. Some people know what they're doing, some have a lot left to learn - rememeber, you were a noob once.
However, on the other hand I have to agree, there are MANY forums and threads which explain the process of flashing a rom, recovery and rooting. There is no excuse not to use your eyes and the search features. Each Rom thread also has installation/flashing guides although very basic you should read anyway to avoid a brick or any other accidents.

Ok.. I went through many posts and found that none of them is very simple as I require..
I got my new HTC One X, Rooted it.. now I want to use eXoDiZeD ROM on it.. btw this is my first time so please go easy on me.
What I need : A step by step procedure on how do I go about installing the custom rom.
I am on v1.26 (India) and the thread says that i have to "FASTBOOT FLASH THE BOOT.IMG FOUND INSIDE THE ROM"
thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597778
so how should I go about it??
Hope this thread also helps other newbies who are stuck like me..
Take a look at other ROM instructions, you will find some provide better instructions that other. Flash procedure is usually the same.
go to the ARHD thread and use his .bat installer but swap the boot.img for the correct one for the ROM that you want to post.

To be fair, if you don't know the basics then you shouldn't be flashing a ROM in the first place...learn how to use fastboot/adb and it'll be SO much easier
Somehow I managed to get the downloader locked, but it shows relocked.. is there anything missing?? Or am I voiding the warranty??

According to HTC you already voided your warranty by unlocking the bootloader.

Actually that is not fair at all. Community helps each other. If you dont want to collaborate with a user it is better to keep you fingers tight instead of sending them off on journeys.

Are you using Windows ? What exactly don’t you understand ?
To open the command prompt type cmd in the start menu search box (Vista/7/8) or type cmd in run dialog box (XP). Its easier to copy the boot.img file into the same folder as fastboot.exe. Then type fastboot flash boot boot.img. That’s all.
Make sure you have the correct boot.img for your device.
I've been looking around a lot and I'm seriously to the point where I'm totally confused, I have my friend's HTC ONE X (international version) where we followed Hsasoon2000's tool kit (which also uses htcdev website) to unlock the boot loader and it apparently did and everything was good but when we tried to install the CM10 rom for jellybean using his toolkit the phone got into this "boot loop" and we can't figure how to fix it.. we can get to the bootloader.. where if we select recovery it takes us to this "team win recovery project" thing and gives us several options but .. we are pretty new to this and we don't want to screw this even more. We also tried to clear the cache and it didn't work. Through the team win recovery project I can mount USB storage and get to the phone's files, if this helps somehow.. can any of you guys help please?? WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT

The problem is the HOX doesn't accept the boot.img from the zip file you downloaded..... which means you need to find the CM10 rom thread and download the boot.img for that rom, flash that first through the bootloader, then flash the rom. You'll be good to go then.
Hope that helps.

There are lots of such information in the net or xda. But in short:
0. Put the CM10 zip in your sd card.
1. You probably need the recovery (have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819)
2. As said you need to flash the boot.img manually. The easiest is to download Android Revolution HD boot.img zip. (go Android Development section to look for the thread). Extract the boot.img from CM10 and put it in the ARHD boot.img zip (inside fastboot sub directory IIRC, replace that boot.img-- **must**). Follow his instruction. If you want to learn more, read his script; very straight-forward.
3. Boot into recovery and choose to install CM10 zip you put in your SD.

Hi Friends
Help me please
My device does not start up, when I put the battery and turn on the device; it hangs on the first screen (white with htc label).
When it happened for the first time? While I was trying to change its Rom by these steps:
unlock and root by EasyAceRootTool.
After this case, all things were ok and phone worked well
After that, I decided to upgrade its rom, I put a custom rom on sd card, and flash it (I did super wipe as well)
After that, My device …
I plugged in my device by usb cable to pc, and put other ROMS in sd card , and tested those, but nothing changed
What i did wrong?
About 3 month ago, I unlock and root my htc one x plus, and changed its rom, and I hadn’t any problems.
Actually I didn’t know that S off is necessary for changing rom (Is that?) (For my hox+ it wasn’t)
Now, What can I do? Help please
(So sorry for poor english)
Thanks

Second unlock your bootlader with your Unlock_code.bin you must get Unlock_code.bin from htcdev.com

You must to download this recovery in any case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240646
when you unlock your bootloader flash the recovery.img via fastboot
After this copy your ROM to SD Card and flash it from recovery. Last flash boot.img via fastboot.
If you choice stock rom you must to install the stock rom of course, to flash stock recovery.img and after this boot.img via fastboot.
And will be nice if you use SEARCH Function

I made the first steps a little easier, added adb, fastboot and some scripts in the attachement.
- Unpack the attached zip-file to your windows computer
- Connect the phone to the computer (get it in fastboot mode)
- Run the script FastbootBatteryRecharge.bat
- The phone will keep rebooting, and your phone will be charged very slowly (so keep it this way half a day or longer).
When the phone is charged you face a next problem. The phone has already been unlocked and relocked by another user, and I am not sure you can get an Unlock_code.bin from HTC if someone before you did that for a specific device. Or you can ask your friend if he has the Unlock_code.bin
If you manage to get the Unlock_code.bin -file put it in the folder you unpacked and run the script HTCDevUnlock.cmd
If you did that you can flash a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM, you can read all about that in these forums (look at the sticky topics).
Thanks very much for simplifying the steps .
I dont want to jinx it , but its looking good so far.
I was just thinking of restoring the phone to the FACTORY SETTINGSDo I have to get the unlock code for this or just go into the HBOOT when the phone has a sufficient charge?
I want to learn more about all things Android . Can anyone recommend an idiots guide ? A guide that explains the jargon in plain english & has step - by - step guides?

First use this to charge yor phone read the thread and use search function http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084
Second unlock your bootlader with your Unlock_code.bin you must get Unlock_code.bin from htcdev.com
Third you must to take decision STOK rom or CUSTOM rom. If you whont STOK you can use Nandroid backup or use search button for STOCK rom by mike1986.
