Ok.. I went through many posts and found that none of them is very simple as I require..
I got my new HTC One X, Rooted it.. now I want to use eXoDiZeD ROM on it.. btw this is my first time so please go easy on me.
What I need : A step by step procedure on how do I go about installing the custom rom.
I am on v1.26 (India) and the thread says that i have to "FASTBOOT FLASH THE BOOT.IMG FOUND INSIDE THE ROM"
thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597778
so how should I go about it??
Hope this thread also helps other newbies who are stuck like me..
Take a look at other ROM instructions, you will find some provide better instructions that other. Flash procedure is usually the same.
go to the ARHD thread and use his .bat installer but swap the boot.img for the correct one for the ROM that you want to post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
To be fair, if you don't know the basics then you shouldn't be flashing a ROM in the first place...learn how to use fastboot/adb and it'll be SO much easier
Somehow I managed to get the downloader locked, but it shows relocked.. is there anything missing?? Or am I voiding the warranty??

According to HTC you already voided your warranty by unlocking the bootloader.

Actually that is not fair at all. Community helps each other. If you dont want to collaborate with a user it is better to keep you fingers tight instead of sending them off on journeys.

Are you using Windows ? What exactly don’t you understand ?
To open the command prompt type cmd in the start menu search box (Vista/7/8) or type cmd in run dialog box (XP). Its easier to copy the boot.img file into the same folder as fastboot.exe. Then type fastboot flash boot boot.img. That’s all.
Make sure you have the correct boot.img for your device.

Hi all.
I have just received my HTC ONE X on ORANGE UK. I had it unlocked and works well with other networks.
Problem I have is:
1. How can I get rid of the ORANGE UK branding?
2. Revert the software to the ORIGINAL HTC ONE X Software?
I looked thru the Q&A and didn't really find the answer i was looking for. I am a newbie as i have always had the iPhone 4S.
I presume this involves changing the ROM? How?
A Step by step guide would be brilliant.
Thanks Kindly
I believe that you will need to unlock your Bootloader at HTCDev (which will void all warranty) and follow this thread. This will allow you to install any One X ROM you want.

Unlocking the bootloader, rooting, installing a custom recovery and flashing a custom (or official unbranded) ROM will get you where you need to be...
However, if you have never rooted a phone before this one isn't the best to start on. I would recommend waiting until some of the bugs have been ironed out, like charging in fastboot, the posibility of a one click root, or a fully s-offed process.
If you can be patient, (and the bloat isn't too bad - for Orange anyway) I would recommend waiting.
I had a rooted, s-off desire on Orange, have unlocked and s-offed a bunch of various HTC phones belonging to friends, but even I'm delaying for a while to see how development pans out.
I hate sense too.
@shrubz
Hi thanks. Well I got thru the Bootloader ok. Now I am on step 9 of the recovery. I am not sure which ROM to select in step 4?
UPDATED 13/4 Official Clockworkmod Touch Recovery 5.8.2.7
Can you help please?
I don't know which one to select as there is this one from http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager
HTC One X (GSM) Download Recovery & Touch Recovery
I would recommend Android Revolution HD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
Version 3.1 is the latest build with sense. I ran ARHD on my Sensation and its very stable. I'll be running it once I'm sure my device is fault free.

have you installed a custom recovery? if so move the downloaded ROM onto you one x, reboot into recovery, choose "install zip from sdcard". Then "choose zip" and point it at the zip of the rom you downloaded.
@f4flake.
All I have done so far is the unlocked the Bootloader.
Thanks

If you follow the link I posted in the 2nd post that will give you all the steps you need to prepare to flash a custom ROM, including the custom recovery image.
After that pick a ROM, I recommend ARHD, then follow the instructions in the ROM thread to flash the ROM.

Hi
Have you saved the recovery image in the fastboot folder on your computer with your fastboot files?
Try
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
Looks like you missed the word recovery from your command and omitted the file extension.

just to add to that make sure it is on your C drive which is easier and make a fastboot folder with all the contents of it mate..then just follow the guide i PM'd you with
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I can't seem to find an answer to the question I want to ask.
I've just upgraded to my HOX and have flashed it with the latest venom Rom. Everything is ok, but what I'm confused about is why do we need to go into the downloader everytime we want to flash a new Rom.
What I mean is why does the boot img file have to be extracted from the custom Rom and then loaded via a command prompt? I'm not complaining by the way. Would just like to know why this is the case.
On my desire hd it was just a case of rebooting into recovery and then flashing. All done.
Would love to find out what you guys can tell me.

Hi, i've unlocked bootloader, flashed recovery, rooted my phone now i need to get a good ROM. Can someone please tell me which is the easiest ROM to install without having to go to bootloader unlock, relock it etc...that will be a real pain in the as*.
I don't care which ROM as long as it has a better battery life than original version and solves WI-FI issues..
Thanks
First; try a better thread-name.
Second; I don't know what you mean, if you talk about unlock the bootloader again ..
If you already have done that, why would you need to do that again o0
Try IceColdJelly, it has Android 4.1(.1?), is very smooth and has a very good battery life.

In cmd (on your computer)
Flash the boot.img which you should extract out the Rom.zip you downloaded
Then flash it in fastboot.
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then fastboot clear cache
Then reboot the phone :-

You need to flash the boot.img through fastboot. Put the boot.img into your fastboot folder and open a cmd window there. Then boot your phone into fastboot mode and run the commands "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and "fastboot erase cache"

it tells you EVERYTHING you need to know, read through it and other guides.
you are the reason ROM flashing shouldnt be available to everyone, you should have to pass a test first to ensure you know what you are doing and not outsmarted by a tree.

Be nice, this is supposed to be a friendly community. Some people know what they're doing, some have a lot left to learn - rememeber, you were a noob once.
However, on the other hand I have to agree, there are MANY forums and threads which explain the process of flashing a rom, recovery and rooting. There is no excuse not to use your eyes and the search features. Each Rom thread also has installation/flashing guides although very basic you should read anyway to avoid a brick or any other accidents.

Not really. I find it OK. It does stretch the One X to its limits but the ROM works smoothly
You need to make sure your HBOOT is at least 1.72 or it wont boot

Yep, i know the adb/fastboot commands. I've read that when i flash a rom, i need to flash their boot image by fastboot. Is that true?
Yes that is true
Check the following before you attempt to flash. And leave S-ON. If you mess up this will save you
*. Make sure your OneX is rooted. www.onexroot.com has a good tutorial. http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
*. Be certain that HBOOT is of the correct version BEFORE you flash the ROM. If not then you will need to upgrade HBOOT and then root your phone again. Here is a site that may help if you need to upgrage HBOOT . http://d-h.st/users/ClydeB1/?fld_id=8110
Having done all that you are ready to flash. You will need the fastboot files and the ROM and extract the boot.img from the ROM
Rather than me writing it all down and risk missing some step, have a look at these various ROMS on http://onexroot.com/category/one-x-roms/. The tutorials are good and will give you help on how to flash, Look at more than one tutorial to get the idea of what to do.

there is one but you need unlocked bootloader or s-off device
here it is
* download the latest twrp 3.1.1-0
* grab any modded firmware package
* delete all files inside the zip except "android-info.txt" edit that text to match your device info
* rename the twrp img to "recovery" then put it with "android-info.txt" and zip it
* put it in your sd card root formatted as fat32 then reboot to bootloader (hboot) and confirm the flash process
* reboot to recovery after the flashing complete then do a full backup and flash supersu.zip
if you need help, more details needed about your device so we can provide a proper files ( final zip )

If you are talking about my response/quote directed to K4R33M; then I purposely did not link the thread. It's not applicable to your original question, and won't help you.
If you want to see it anyway, simply click his user name K4R33M on his post, select "View Forum Posts" and you will easily find the other posts he made (where his question was answered).
But his situation is not the same as yours (not even close) - despite his claim as it is the same (one of the reasons I tell people never to say they have the same problem/question, as it is virtually never true). He already has s-off and a custom ROM installed, but had relocked bootloader. Root wasn't even his problem, he was just trying to get xposed to install.
