Text and Computer Sync? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Does anyone know of any apps that can sync whole conversations to the computer? I've had super long conversations with some friends and I want to somehow be able to transport every bit and piece of it to my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Desksms will sync your conversations. It does it through Google Talk somehow, but you don't have to use the Talk app.

a few issues

Hey guys I am new to the whole android thing so these issues may just be related to that, I love the phone with the exception that it does not have a roam only function and from what I can tell an app or widget could be coming soon.
My first issue is the time in some of my text messages is 3-4 hours fast only on the incoming messages and not on the ones i send out. It is very sporadic with what messages it chooses to do this too, like half of the incoming messages will be a few hours fast and the others will be in time with my outgoing messages. Any ideas?
My second is i can not figure out how too sync my itunes up with my evo...i downloaded the itunesagent suggested to sync but for some reason my evo wont let me sync all my songs, it synced 4 out of a thousand and some change, what should i do?
My third problem is using the htc sync...i have my email account set up through google and synced my contacts using the account setting on the device but will that also sync all of my other information like text messages and apps/widgets downloaded?
like i said i am new so i may just be overlooking critical steps but i would greatly appreciate any words of advice
Thanks,

If you're using a Mac download iTuneMyWalkman and use that to sync. You basically need a "middle man" to communicate with iTunes.
Check this link out:

I really like that website. It has tons of tutorials for newbs like us. Try it out and post back if it works. I got mines to work on my mac 100%.

Galaxy Nexus, while a Samsung device, is not compatible with Samsung Kies. Galaxy Nexus runs on native android and not Samsung enhanced version of Android, this is the possible reason why.

I think a more appropriate response is "WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO!!?!?!?"
No but seriously Kies is terrible software and you can accomplish everything Kies claims to do pretty easily on your own. All your contacts are saved to your SIM and GMail already and music is pretty easy to transfer.
KIES is the worst software ever. I can't imagine even one reason to use it.
I agree the old one really was bad but the new one that you can connect through wifi works great !!

Because all of my contacts are in my older phone memory (not SIM), and synced with Outlook. I tried to use Google contacts but this is crap. Want to sync my Nexus contacts with Outlook. Is there another way to this instead of using Kies ?

Thanks. I will give this a try. Problem is Google keeps messing my contacts by adding email addresses I use to my contact list even when I don't want to. Then it arbitrarily decides to merge with existing contacts, giving priority to its own formatting instead of mine.
I'm so fed up with this that I'm currently doing a major clean up of this.

When creating my xda account, I watch the introductory video, had a good laugh§ I now also have the confirmation I'm a noob. I solved my problem of Google arbitrarily creating entries in my contact list : I just had to go in the parameters to prevent it doing so.
Now I still have a problem : when I want to sync my Nexus to my Google account, it seems priority is given to the Nexus contacts (empty list) instead of my up to date list in Google. When I sync my 148 contacts, 53 get deleted from Google. Trying to figure out how to set priority.
EDIT : problem solved, but I don't know how. All 148 contacts now appear in the phone. It did an update by itself. Seems that if I force sync, I lose contacts, if I do nothing, everything's OK. Go figure ....

Best desktop texting app?

Any recommendations for sending texts from your PC? The three that I know of are MightyText, MySMS and Browser Texting.
I use Google voice.

I used Google Voice too but after integrating my Sprint number with Google Voice, I had too many issues with missed calls so I disabled it.

I use Mighty Text.
Been playing with MightyText for the past hour or so. Seems pretty good but it doesn't seem to play with Juice Defender well. Some of my texts won't send when my phone's in sleep mode.

That just sounds funny; though I use google voice.
MightyText doesn't make a notification sound on computer. Is it meant too...?

I'm liking mysms
I use google voice with the Chrome extension. It's awesome!
So after using MightyText for a couple of weeks, I had to uninstall. It's been a little buggy at times - sent texts getting stuck and sometimes sending multiples of the same text. Still searching for a good desktop sms solution.
Any other suggestions? I've tried MightyText and MySMS but both had their issues.
phone deck has discontinued their web support.
I'm looking for a new solution, any updates?
New Desktop Texting App
I know this is an old thread but I have an Android smart phone and a Windows 8 laptop and I love "Text Desk". I love not having to pickup and check my phone every time I get a text message. My texts automatically pop up on my PC. I can read it and reply to it right from my PC without ever touching my phone. Pretty sweet! Check out: www dot textdesk dot net!

I've been pretty happy with DeskSMS. It works on your computer as a browser add in and there is also a Tablet app that will push messages to your tablet as well. ON the tablet you can reply to messages the same way you can on the PC.

Thanks for the suggestion tkepk181. I'm still using Text Desk every day. The thing I really like about Text Desk is that it doesn't require ANY personal information at all to use. I don't have to setup an account, give my email address, give my mobile phone number, login with Facebook, Google, etc. I also don't "love" browser based solutions. The native apps always seems to be slicker and more reliable. Just my 2 cents!
Text Desk looks very interesting. Thanks for the tip. I'm definitely going to check that out.

[Q] Need some help w/ syncing info from one Note 2 to another

Hey guys, the charging port on my T-Mobile Note 2 recently started acting up, so I called for a replacement (phone charging port actually ended up fixing itself on the original phone). Anyways, I got the replacement phone, and I've connected my google account to it, which has all my phone numbers saved. When I try to sync the contacts to the new replacement phone, it won't show all the contacts, just older contacts. Can anyone help me out? Also, do you know if I can transfer my old messages too? I'm not rooted either.
Sorry if these are annoying, or common questions, but I'd really like some help before I have to send my original phone back to T-Mobile. I'd really appreciate any and all feedback, thank you.
Hi.. U CANT sync contacts, nd whatever if u just add the gmail.
U need to factory reset the backup phone u have, and when u turn it on.. it will ask u some info and also it will ask u if u have a google account or a gmail.. enter the gmail, and google will automatically sync them, but u need a working wifi first.
GIVE ME A THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED

[Q] Recover files straight from S3 hard disk

Hello!
Today I had a client come in with an unusual request. His Galaxy S 3 is broken (mainly the screen and possibly motherboard issue).
Now this client wants to recover the contacts from the phone - I wonder why he didn't just save them to an email in the first place - but the phone won't turn on at all. He wants the contacts bad and is willing to replace the whole motherboard for it.
What I'm wondering is if it's possible to just open the phone, remove the hard drive and use it with some sort of enclosure to connect it to a computer and open the files? Does somebody know anything about this?
I do not believe the hard drive is damaged.
Any input or thoughts are highly appreciated, thank you!

Contacts are stored on google account or in ATT phonebook. You don't need to do this. Just insert his sim card in other android phone , login to his google account and sync contacts.
Only if he sync'd to his Google or att acct. Theoretically, I think, you could swap his mb into a device with everything that does work. Maybe.

The client stored all of his contacts in the phone only. They are not on his SIM, SD, ATT phonebook or his GMAIL account.
Check your pm. Sent you some info

Good idea. So if I remove the hard drive from the clients phone and put it on a working S 3 it should have all the files, etc?
I said theoretically. I'm thinking it should be basically the same as a hdd swap on a pc

Unfortunately he did not sync anything. He has already bought a S 4 from my store and we tried syncing his email, checking the SIM, SD card and everything else. Also the client has some pictures saved on the phone that he wants too so I need access to the hard drive.
This should be possible with a "JTAG".
A JTAG will require soldering, and lots of patience. To do a JTAG, you need to buy a RIFF box to hook up the phone, then install software on PC.
http://www.mobiletechvideos.com
^I was recommended by that person company several times. You can buy a Riff box from there. (I don't know how to JTAG or where software can be found)
You can email the owner of the website and ask for help there.

Thank you for the reply. You and another user have recommended mobiletech so I will reach out to him.
Meanwhile, I will try to simply swap the mb/hd with another working S3 here at the store to see if that works.
I am interested in figuring out a inexpensive method for this since Google doesn't return much info.
Thanks to everyone else and the suggestions! =)
