[Q] How to disable predictive text...??? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I mean, it would be ok if even once it predicted correctly, but that seems unlikely. Having to correct it over and over is killing me...
Thanks.

Try SwiftKey if you are using the stock keyboard. It seems to be pretty intelligent after you use it for a while. Of course, there is the issue where it's as slow as molasses...

Keyboard kinda slow/laggy ?

Hi all, again now after I use my DHD a little I find that sometimes its kinda laggy or does not recognize my inputs 100% right. Sometimes it is like I type to fast and a character is missing. But I typed it! Is there a reason for that? Any thing I can do? Another software keyboard perhaps?

Try Swype. beta.swype.com I've been using Swype for a while now and don't ever think of going back to typing again.

[Q] Swype keyboard not loading after ICS update

Updated to ICS through Kies, running stock rooted and using default sms (I know, that's my first problem ).
My problem is I'm having to tap the field three or four times to pull up the Swype keyboard..
Didn't see any info on this posted previously so i wanted to see if i was alone on this. Aside from this issue, I'm running pretty smoothly, no lag, no force closures, no random reboots, just finicky Swype..

Have you tired another keyboard?

Hmmm looks like its not exclusive to Swype, messaging app lags pulling up any keyboard.
I'd gladly switch to handcent, I've just gotten accustomed to being able to pull up my messages from the lockscreen.

[Q] Auto correct no longer works after jb update

I'm just curious as to how many people are having auto correct issues since the jb release? It doesn't work at all. It shows suggestions to my words but hitting space bar no longer automatically inputs the word.

Had to resort to SwiftKey for a keyboard with a working auto correct. Garbage that I may have to spend some money for a working keyboard because of a bug but we'll see when the trial is over
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Having the same problem. Think I'll either revert back to ICS or start looking into custom ROM's.
Disappointing.
Surprisingly SwiftKey keyboard has an amazing auto correct, comparable if not better than the stock keyboard. Not sure how long the trial period is but I will end up buying it if I have to. Give it a try before spending time flashing or reverting to ics.

You are going to leave JB or flash custom roms because the sammy autocorrect doesn't work? Try out a few keyboard and you may like those rather than using the terrible sammy keyboard. AOSP 4.2 is pretty nice. free in the play store or you can get the actual APK and also have the swype gestures.

Phone lags in everyday tasks plus games

It does this when going from an app to home and going thru the app drawer. And playing games is a horrible experience because it lags constantly. I'm fully stock no root. I did a factory reset after the recent ota. Do I have a defective phone? I just got it yesterday. FYI I came from the HTC one and that phone played all of my games flawlessly. I play modern combat 4 gta vice city nba2k13. And all of them lag considerably on this phone I thought this phone was better then the HTC one. Faster processor etc. What's going on any help?

I use SwiftKey too I'm going to try uninstalling it and see if that's that culprit.
Edit: I un installed swiftkey and lag disappeared:0 thats really weird. Games work normal no lag in menus anymore swiftkey made this phone unstable maybe because the stock keyboard has swiftkey flow, they kept colliding with eachother. Idk just a theory.

Right! I love the predictions it has maybe cause of what I had thought the stock Samsung keyboard has swiftkey flow built in maybe they collided and caused lag but weird how much lag is gone . Im happy now

do you have battery saving enabled?
I am confused. I have Swype preinstalled on my s4 and not swiftkey. Does uninstalling Swype decrease the lag?

You can't uninstall swype unless you root, if not disable it. I'm not sure if swype affects performance I have it disabled cause I don't use it, But haven't noticed a difference. Swype and SwiftKey are two different apps so if you don't have SwiftKey this post doesn't apply to you.

Guys if you downloaded swiftkey on to the device, then it will not work properly because sasmsung intergrated swiftkey into their stock keyboard.

Unless you unchecked the swiftkey feature in the stock keyboard settings. That worked for me now swiftkey nor the phone lags.

I also found that if you FREEZE the stock Samsung keyboard with Titanium, and continue to use SwiftKey, you will also find the lag is gone.
Thank you so much for pointing this out. I removed the Samsung keyboard and not leather phone flies. I was getting frustrated and thinking of returning. I tried everything. It was that friggin conflict between the keyboards.
Thank you

[Q] Swiftkey as default keyboard

Few days ago I bought the Swiftkey keyboard and even after selecting it as default keyboard, it keeps reverting to stock keyboard after sometime without even booting. Is there a solution for this?
You might want to try removing the stock keyboard using TiBu/RootExplorer/etc. and leave SwiftKey as the only keyboard present.

Similar to this, you could also go into the Apps in the settings, and find and disable the stock keyboard. I've been using SwiftKey for around 4 years, I've faced this issue multiple times.
Just started doing this for me a month or so ago. I went in to titanium and froze Android keyboard, just like what the other guy did and it worked fine. Not a fan of removing completely so freezing is the way to go imo.

Yes, I tried all the other possible ways. Freezing is the only option it seems. And now finally I'm on Swiftkey! :good:
Great! Enjoy it, it's a fantastic keyboard, be warned though, it gets better and worse as they release updates.
