[Q] Can't get to Recovery mode

Rogers North American HTC One X. ***Tempered*** ***Unlocked***
Was following the One Root X video tutorial to unlock and root my phone. I got to the point where I need to get into Recovery to install the Super User zip. But I everytime I select Recovery, the phone goes to an HTC screen with the following message "This build is for development purposes only Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC’s written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action"
The phone then reboots normally. How do I get passed this?

did the custom recovery flash correctly?
I did this on a mac, so my last step on the terminal was this:
HTML:
./fastboot-mac flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.2.7-endeavoru.img
And the terminal returned OKAY

I'm not sure on the code for mac, but that looks right.
I presume you managed to unlock your phone alright through HTC Dev?
yes
After flashing recovery try typing: fastboot erase cache .. this helps sometimes

Check your phone hasn't re locked itself, try unlocking it again reflashing the recovery and then flashing the boot.img the same way

Also, use the latest CWM - you're still using the old one
Hello,
I am having the same problem with my HTC One X from Rogers in Canada. I succesfully unlocked the bootloader (and I verified, it is still unlocked), I also installed a custom recovery, version 5.8.3.1 I believe, and I tried erasing the cache right after.
All of that worked, but still when I go into bootloader mode and select recovery, it just shows the htc "quietly brilliant" screen with a notice under saying "This build is for development purposes only blah blah blah".
What else is there that I can try? =/
If it's of any help, I used Cursed4Eva video tutorial on youtube.
anyone able to help or get it to work..i'm having a problem

Any similar ROMs I should consider? All I wanna do is increase battery life and performance. I do wanna keep Sense 4.0 on there.

Hi All,
Experienced the exact same issue after flashing CWR 5.8.4.0. Found this thread and followed the advice to install the interim build of CWR and I was able to boot into recovery an flash supersu... thanks for the tips here.
I'm curious now though... is there any hope for us to install 5.8.4.0 or anything later than the interim build (5.8.3.1)??
Curious as to why our phones wont boot 5.8.4.0... I'm running a TELUS HOX.

My Friend has Bootlooped his One X

Hi. I asked my friend that is new to android:
to root his android phone n flash his phone so he can become somewhat of a modder:
however he has just told me that he has got into a bootloop after flashing the cyan theme on a stock HTC ONE X bootloader unlocked.(international)
He had not made a backup & wants the least complicated method
Do you have a simple solution so he can boot his phone into his phone?
Edit: I have looked on google but cannot find the right solution for his situation.

Hold the power button down til it turns black and the lights blink then hold volume down to boot into bootloader.
Then select recovery and reflash his Rom. Or push the stock files that got edited using adb.

If recovery doesn't boot tell him to go into bootloader -> fastboot and then use 'fastboot erase cache'.

Yes he can get into recovery, i kinda feel responsible cause i told him to flash something.
Anyways I've searched on google n i can't find any clear instructions on erasing fasboot cache
Why did you tell him to flash something he knew nothing about? Surely you advised him to read up on everything first, download the right RUU as backup, etc?

Just grab a Rom and flash it in recovery that will fix it. Don't make it complicated. No need for anything else he only changed a few files like systemui and framework.res, once they get replaced again with the new Rom it will boot as normal.

Need serious help. Phone not booting

So,I tried installing CM10 following instructions from lloirs thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835285).
I flashed the boot.img in the first step because he says it is a better option.
After that I proceeded to flash the CM10 zip file, but the install failed.
After that my phone wouldn't boot, so I did a restore from CWM and now my phone is stuck on the HTC One screen for a good half an hour.
Please help. Really need the phone tomorrow.

Which ROM would be safe? Because I used the correct Kernel with this as well. Think I should go with the CM9?

[Q] Help. White HTC screen with red warning message

I'd like to start out by saying I'm not a noob. Ive flashed and rooted other phones before. Every time I try to flash a custom recovery on my HTC One V, I get the white htc page with a paragraph in red letters. I unlocked the bootloader first and followed all the proper directions in order to flash the custom recovery. I can get rooted no problem, but when I try to flash a custom recovery I get that white screen with red lettering no matter what I do. What the heck is the problem???? I just bought the one v 4 weeks ago and it came with android 4.0.3.
You're stuck on those screen or that message pisses you off? If it's the second variant, U can't do anything :/
Its normal...
as long as you can boot into the UI, its ok...
and btw, wrong thread..

Ok, I cant do anything about that screen popping up I understand that but what Im saying is when Im done flashing the recovery, and when I try to get into the custom recovery that I just flashed all i get is that white screen with red letters. It just sits there...nothing happens.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you need to rename whatever the boot image was called to recovery.img (check it's not recovery.img.img)
??
Everything on the phone works fine except the recovery. I cant access the recovery is what im saying.

Im starting to think that this phone cant have custom recovery on it. If some one wants to prove me wrong then show me.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
i meant to say recovery.img not boot.img
I had this issue. What custom recovery are you trying to flash. Certain versions of cwm and twrp arnt supported for the CDMA primoc version. Cwm 5.8 and twrp2 are the only ones I know of. I like twrp2 because its a touch ui.

Do you have a PrimoU (GSM) or PrimoC (CDMA)? You need to flash the right image. Flashing a recovery for PrimoC on a PrimoU won't work.

ClockworkMod recovery and HTC One X

Right, I've had a look around the forum a bit now for help with my issue but decided it's time to post my own thread.
I unlocked and rooted my phone a while back installed clockwork recovery and CM 9. I now want to upgrade to the latest version of CM but my recovery won't boot up...
I've tried downloading the CWM manager to my phone and re flashing from there and tried flashing other recovers and yet it still tried Clock work mod flashes on and immediately off and my phone reboots...
Can anyone lend me their knowledge?
Thanks.
Put recovery.img in the fastboot folder
Put your phone in fastboot mode
Open dosprompt ( cmd prompt )
Go to fastboot folder
Type :
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
And then enter recovery
I suggest you flash the latest cmw recovery 5.8.4.0
Verstuurd van mijn HTC One X
Currently at work so will try this when i get back home.
Although, im sure this is the process i followed when trying to fix the problem before posting this thread.
Will update.
i have the htc AT&T and everytime i load clockworkmod it just boots to the htc logo and stays there
twrp will take but it wont work right, "Failed to mount cache"
If its getting messy. Download the recovery and flash it via the htc one x toolkit in dev section. No commands just clicking LOL.
You put the zip into the recovery folder.connect yoir phone then just flash recovery. Personally twrp recovery works better. More options..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Twrp is failing too, I even locked the bootloader ran ruu then unlocked and rooted, Twrp let me root but won't install another rom. Fails to mount cache.
I guess at least I have root though
