[Q] SIM not inserted stock ROM - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I've tried several SIM(non VZW) cards which all work in other phones and I can't change it to GSM because it throws "SIM not inserted" errors. Any ideas? I am in the process of s off and I'm going to try some custom roms but I don't see any indication that will fix my problem.

According to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1404997
It says that I put the "unlock" code that someone generates/looks up from my IMEI number, not my SIM lock code or PUK, correct?
If so, does the fact that I haven't gotten a code and used it the reason it gives the error above.
edit - Downgrade, hboot 97 with the old ass 4.xxxx CWM, gonna pop the 6.x touch on here then drive some custom ROMs around. Any recommendations on GSM data compat ROMs? I'm mainly using this as an at home device while my g/f uses my S3. She is waiting on a replacement phone and needs a phone. I only need an Android device to browse the web in bed and read Kindle on, but GSM data would be nice for the few minutes I am outside each day.

You can use ic tazz Rom or miui v4 which is what I'm using. UKB is alright but I had some problems

Noob - Network Locked Help

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by starting a new thread on this topic but I actually feel quite desperate haha.
My situation is I had a Orange branded HTC Desire and got fed up of the not being able to use GTalk and the Orange branded apps. I read a little bit about rooting and flashing and felt I had enough knowledge to go ahead.
I created a Gold card and then followed the "How To: Root the HTC Desire" on unlockr. After I did this I got "Sim Locked" so I tried to install a custom ROM, I've installed a few different ROMs with no success.
At the current moment it seems my phone is running on the basic Andriod OS which has superuser permissions but still has the "SIM network unlock PIN" (which can be dismissed).
I'm completely lost on how to remove the network lock, I've read different things in different places and I felt signing up and actually asking was my best option.
Thank you, any help is appreciated!
You have two options:
1: Flash the older radio version that came with your phone. This will work fine with all 2.1 (eclair) based roms. You won't be able to run most of the new 2.2 based roms as they seem to be requiring the very latest radio.
2: get an unlock code from htcsimunlock.com or similar. This only needs to be done once and is what I did (same boat!). Then you'll be able to run the latest roms. Costs about 15 quid.

[Q] unknown number

Hey everyone......has anyone figured out why alot of people's phone show as unknown number when looking in the status menu while using cyanogenmod?
I've tried entering it manually - after it reboots its unknown
i've called tmobile to have it pushed to my phone - no luck
I just rooted and installed cyanogen on my fathers mytouch slide and his comes up no problem.
Do I need to try a new sim?
for someone who knows alot about tmobile systems, I can tell you there are only two ways that I'm aware of to edit that number. one is to have it sent to your phone via an ota from t-mobile... can take up to two hours but is generally quick. tell them to submit the msisdn to the sim. the other is to pop your sim into a blackberry and go through the options and change it.
This is a known issue for the 2.2 builds, doesn't happen to everyone, and has happened even with it known that a number is in fact on the sim card.
The latest Cyanogenmod rom has a workaround for this, where you can enter it into Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings.
Also, I believe this belongs in the Q&A section if I'm not mistaken, this is a development thread.

[Q] Unable to read/write sim card with certain roms?

I've been trying out various roms for my G2 and I've noticed that most of the Cyanogen based ROMs, and a few others could not access the sim card contacts on my phone. I'm currently using Pyromod 2.0 as I find it the fastest, but no application can read or write to the sim card.
I used Virtuous V1.0.2 and found that it had no problems accessing the sim card for read or write.
The sim card works fine on my G1 using any ROM, full access to the sim card is available.
Does anyone else have this problem with their SIM card and certain ROMs?
Could the problem have anything to do with rooting/unlocking the phone via gfree rather than using the t-mobile unlock code? I am not on the t-mobile network, I'm using the phone in Canada with Wind Mobile.
The only roms I have been able to access sim contacts from are stock rom that came with phone, gingersense, and the gingerbread leak for tmobile g2. You have to use an application to actually see what's on sim though. I use an app called contact2sim pro. Works great as long as the rom allows it.

Does anyone have any insight into why certain ROMs can access the sim card contacts, and some can't? Is there a setting or APK that could be brought in from another ROM to allow sim read/write access?
I haven't been able to find much information about this issue besides "try airplane mode on/off" (doesn't work), and "save your contacts to a file with working rom, flash back to rom you want to use and import" which doesn't help when I want to save new contacts to the SIM.
I've asked this question in the past and never got an actual answer.

yes, the same problem here...
I've tried out a new ROM from xboarder56, the "stock" gingerbread ROM with the stock kernel. I was able to access the sim card and export my contacts no problem (except for creating a huge mess in my address book when importing them on the other ROM!)
From what I can figure out from my experimenting, the sim card read/write does not work correctly with any modified kernels. This would include the cyanogen based ROMs, or other ROM's that probably have a modified kernel as there were some custom ROMs that didn't read or write the sim card either.
I will try and dig a little deeper into this issue and experiment with new kernels, maybe there is an overclockable kernel for cyanogen based that will still access the SIM card properly. I've been wanting to develop a custom ROM for a while now so this might just be my excuse to get around to it
If anyone has tested a ROM with a custom kernel that DOES access the sim properly please let me know. So far the working ROMs I've tried are:
xboarder56 [ROM] Pure/Stock Gingerbread 2.3.3 v1.1.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054574
rmk40 [ROM][04/11/11] Virtuous v1.0.2 (HTC Sense 1.85.72.2) w/Fixes & Enhancements
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=837042
i have the problem also, i'm unable to read/write sim card with certain roms, all rom except based on stock
after several test, all rom based on no stock have the problem of read/write sim card
i on coolos miui v4 and it works with this rom, coolos sensei work also, vipez work also.....

[Q] No Service

Hello there,
I've been reading around on the forum for ages now trying to find a solution to my problem, found nothing and see no other way around it than to post my problem here.
I've used the Ace Hack kit to root the phone and make it s-off. Booting up I get no signal /limited service. I've tried to installed Revolution HD and it works perfect except the same error is still there. The phone is reading my sim card and i can see my contacts.
The baseband version is: 12.39a.50.19U_26.06.06.30_M
I live in the UK and I'm using a Lebara pay to go card on the vodafone network.
I'm absolutely cluesless which radio/RIL that could be suitable and all the attempts I've made have resulted in status quo. I beg you, please help me!
It could be several things. First, try using a different sim card - from a different operator if possible.
Sent from a dream.
Update the radio my friend to the lastest one.
Download this one
http://www.mediafire.com/?sjpp75agt3q3u3n
put on SD card then reboot into the bootloader and it will ask if you want to update press volume up. Just make sure you have over 50% battery power before doing this.
Tried a different sim card without luck.
I've also installed the new radio which hacktrix2006 linked to and it doesn't seem to help on the situation though it has been successfully installed.
Thanks for the suggestions, do you have any other? I'm really desperate here!
try cleaning the bottom cover there are some gold point use something to light score it failing that make sure the pins the gold parts cover are making contact as that is the antanna
Hack, do you have a md5 check for that link to mediafire. I might change my radio when I get my service back tonight.. Which radio is it?
i do not have a md5 sorry
What radio is the latest... And one more thing... Will a backup keep my original radio? Or do I have to fastboot flash the original radio I manage to find on the net?

Thanks alot for the tips Hacktrix, I'm missing the cover for the battery thing which also has two of these small connectors. Didn't realize that was an antenna at all, but i guess both of the covers has to be on to get any reception at all. Grrr all this time and it's such a small thing.. I've now ordered a cover and it should be here on monday, will post update on whether it's working or not. Cheers
It will work if thats the case mate.
Okay, so I've received the cover for the battery now. I still get no signal on the phone so far, maybe it's the radio? I've flashed it with the one hacktrix suggested. Can anyone recommend another radio or have any other things I can try out?
Right before we go to flashing the radio again, have you checked the sim card is working correctly.
If the Signal is still not showing even after putting the cover on, then we simply must start right from basics.
Check the simcard does it work in another phone.
Try another simcard
Is the Gold contacts on the cover making contact with the gold clips on the phone.
I know this might sound dumb but its a starting point.
I have now tried several simcards, the one that I'm using in my motorola at the moment that works 100%, the thing is I can also see all my contacts on the Desire, so there is no doubt that the phone is reading the sim card properly. I've tried to bend the small gold contacts slightly upwards to make sure that there is a connection, this does not produce any result either.
Here is all data that I have.
Android version: 2.3.5
HTC Sense version: 3.5
Sotware number: Android Revolution HD 7.1
Baseband version: 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M
Build number: 1.05.401.4 CL185058 release-keys
Any ideas?

Try this radio

I don't get that radio, should i rename it to PD98IMG? I've tried that and it won't flash it. As I'm running revolution, which are sense based shouldn't I also flash a RIL? Sorry for the confusion.
Forgot to say you needed to flash RIL after latest radio sorry mate.
lookup for 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M RIL it should work after
here is dowload for ril

[Q] My T999L's internal serial number does not match sticker Serial Number?

Hey all,
The tutorial I used to install the ADB prompted me to run "adb devices" when the device is connected to make sure it's working, and that the serial number of the device should show up. ADB definitely works, as I have rebooted my device and put it into recovery mode from adb; however, the serial number showing up does not match that behind the battery (have attached pics).
I tried doing "adb devices" on an old mytouch 3g slide which I have rooted and flashed CM onto, and the serial number that came up matched the one behind the mytouch 3g slide's battery.
So, questions are:
1.) Does the T999L specifically not show the serial number, but instead some other number related to the phone, when one runs "adb devices?"
2.) is it possible the previous owner of my phone did some sort of modding before returning it, effectively changing the Serial number? (i have also attached a picture of the recovery screen, which seems to be running a clockwork mod based recovery...still new to this, but don't think that comes standard on it?)
3.) If my serial number has been changed by a previous owner, is there a way to change it back, but more importantly, should I even worry about it? things seem to be working fine enough.
While I have used xda forums a couple times, this is my first post a registered user. I have watched the (very entertaining) noob video and looked for my answer, but having not found it, am posting my question in what I believe is the correct forum.
Background on the phone/situation:
I'm doing the research to flash a custom ROM onto my T999L, which I bought unlocked and used after for only a couple days for $300 bucks from a local phone shop near my apt in NYC. Currenly in India, and phone works perfectly using an Indian Carrier's Sim (vodaphone). Running the Stock ROM, which restricts using the phone as a hotspot unless you have T-mobile's stupid plan, so I want to flash to get around that.
Seems like the first step to flashing is to Root the phone, do a full Backup with a Nandroid, and then do the flash...to do this I need Android Debugging Bridge (ADB), which I have succesfully installed...just was curiously about this descrepancy I noticed though.
If anybody has suggestions on a Rom to try for the T999L, let me know! I'm thinking trying to flash the Energy HD 2.0 ROM if that works for the T999L, but the website I found out about that from is dated (top hit when you google best roms for galaxy s3, a cnet post from October 2012)
Thanks in advance!
New developments
So after further dectective work last night, i realized even though my phone was still network locked to Tmobile when I got it used (the shop I bought it unlocked it for me), it had already been rooted (it has the Super User app), even though it's running stock rom.
I suspect that some sort of modding had been done by the previous user that changed the Serial Number stored internally as the evidence points to above. Is it important to change it back to match the one on the sticker before I try flashing a custom ROM?
So no one has any thoughts on this? Have any other T999L users experienced what I describe above? Could someone try it quick on theirs and see what happens?
