Sprint prl please help - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello fellow xda'ers i was wondering if anyone knew which prl works best in the in so.cal mainly the I.E San Bernardino are i have tried a lot of them but i have airvana at home so its pointless there and I am to busy at work to mess with my phone and besides i work about a half hour from where i live. So if ANYONE can give me any feed back it would be greatly appreciated cause my data is so bad its laughable I laterally uses less than 100mb a month on my UNLIMITED lol...

Any of the corporate ones should work. I think 12124 is a good one.
Check this thread for all Sprint PRLs.

Personally I use 1 and 2 and I'm in the Hollywood area. Those roam on Verizon and I get decent data speeds. Enough where I can stream Hulu/Netflix

thank you guys for your quick response will try them out

Keep in mind that pretty much the sole purpose of prl 1 and 2 is to get you kicked off sprint without an etf. You will always be roaming

Need help canceling without etf

I posted about a week ago, and was told to just call and ask. I was told I have good coverage in my area(b.s) and that i use to much data to possibly complain about my service. Can anyone give me some tips, I get horrible coverage, I already received an airwave, which only works when i'm at home. I want to switch to verizon cause lte is in my area unlike wimax, but etf fees kill it having 3 lines.

Call them back up, explain that the speeds ARE slow and tell them you can send screenshots of proof if they need you to prove it.

They notate the account but that's not really relevant here.
If you can prove that your speeds have been terrible with screenshots, they can't really argue with that.

"if a change we make to the Agreement is material and has a material adverse affect on you, you may terminate each line of Service materially affected without incurring an Early Termination Fee only if you: (a) call us within 30 days after the effective date of the change; and (b) specifically advise us that you wish to cancel Services because of a material change to the Agreement that we have made. If you do not cancel Service within 30 days of the change, an Early Termination Fee will apply if you terminate Services before the end of any applicable Term Commitment."
If you were just switched from premier gold to silver like many people were, you might be able to use this clause to get out of your contract.

Although I am not currently interested in actually switching from Sprint [not really any companies with comparable rates nor a business philosophy that I could justify giving money to], they did extend a removal of any ETF fees to all my lines for this slow data issue, just in case.

No because the Sprint Premier program is an added benefit not a requirement.

If you don't have many months left on the contracts the 3 etfs could be $300 total and sell the phones.

Yeah but let's keep in mind that when you're switching not only are you getting a new plan but you're also buying all new phones which can cost around $1000.
The total to cancel my 3 lines would be $420 and I could sell the phones for $900 obo. Which wouldn't leave enough to buy 3 thunderbolts, but they did give me a $50 discount for this month only.

Why don't you drive to a local Starbucks that's close enough with 4G/3G. Flash the Verizon prl and for like a week or two just sit in Starbucks and say you're doing a survey to test sprints 4G/3G and offer 8 people to connect to your evo. Each day you go just keep letting users connect to your 4G claiming you're a sprint Rep and watch your data sky rocket!!!!! Lol Then sprint will have no choice but to let you off since you'll be roaming on Verizons network. Get back at those a$$holes.

First of all, it's not across the board.
Some cities are having the problem, most are not.
Second of all, the 4g expansion is a matter of money issues.
The suggestion that Sprint is taking their time fixing these issues and taking their time expanding 4g because they want to is just ridiculous.
And by the way did you just suggest that doing the right thing is an elementary school quality?
How pathetic, man, seriously.

It is wrong to abuse something for the sake of abusing it.
Especially when sprint will and is required to waive the fees for this issue.
And I seriously hope that people that abuse in this matter are held to some sort of legal consequences.
And as far as your not needing to be told what's right and wrong...maybe if you KNEW what was right and wrong you wouldn't have to be told.

[Q] Trying different modems to improve service? (Roaming at home and work)

So I just broke my contract with T-Mobile because I was fed up with them and came over to Sprint. The nice people at the store promised me that I would have service and WiMax at home and at work, but sadly it is not looking great right now.
At home the phone is roaming the whole time, which is ridiculous because that means I am limited to 300mb of data a month and it is slow data at that. At work I have the same problem and don't even get roaming data.
So I was wondering what the recommendation would be here. I've rooted my e4gt but have not torched the modem yet. Is it worth while to try to flash a different modem (EK02 maybe) and see if that helps, knowing that I will not be able to flash back to EG30? Will flashing a different modem be any sort of problem if I try to return the phone?
Or am I completely screwed and have to go crawling back to T-mo?
Thanks,
Actually if you are roaming at home all of the time, Sprint will probably give you a free Airrave. It acts as a mini tower.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
yeah. I've heard that, and its cute. But there is a bigger problem of work, which is where I spend most of my day, and actually class (where I also have only roaming). Actually I have roaming inside almost all buildings even those they are supposed to have excellent service there. Basically, the service all over is starting to really bother me, and if I have to put up with roaming forever I may just have to leave Sprint. The question is more of a, will playing with radios/modems help or will it actually hurt me when I have to return the device?

LOL. If you can find a Sprint employee who is savvy enough to even know what a radio/modem is chances are he will have all the sympathy in the world for you.
That said, if you plan on keeping the device I would not **** with the modem. It's worth a shot, but, that won't help your 4G woes. You can tweak your signal level connect threshold and release timers, but, that'll won't help you get a signal you currently can't get at all...it'll only help you keep a signal you can usually get.
If you are in the 14 day window abort abort abort. You've given it a valiant effort, and that is to be applauded. Sprint service is amazing in some places and almost nonexistent in others. If your only problem is 4G, well, sorry...the tiny little slice of spectrum allotted to Sprint/Clear's WiMax sucks. That will never get better. I gave up on it...thankfully the 3G is getting better every day around here. I thought about going Vzn or Tmob, but, I use too much data for that to be affordable. Especially if it's that much faster. It would get that much more expensive and I'd get that much more screwed that much harder that much sooner.
Pick your service provider first--based on the service you want and the service they have at the prices they provide. Pick your device secondarily.
(I also think the AirRave is weak sauce)
You did your best, you tried your hardest. You can't win every one.
Yeah Thanks. I am in kind of a bind now though. I paid $800 to break my contract with Tmo because Amazon was giving away 1cent phones which would save me the same 800 on 4 lines. Now that sprint fell though, and verizon's phone selection blows I feel like I just wasted $800...

A new modem can improve coverage consistency, but it is not likely to give your coverage where coverage did not exist previously, that requires new towers.

[Q] ET4G on BOOST!! Working Great!

First of all, i got 2 et4gs kicked off of sprint for too much roaming. Prl 0001 plus 1channel, and 1 or 2 movies a day did it... I was well over 10 gigs roaming! But i wanted to get out of my contract, so "mission accomplished".. Sprint gave me till jan. 4th to find a new carrier. How nice of them...
Next, after doing some research via google, Boost seemed to be my best option.. I literally had to put bits and pieces from other people's tutorials to make this work for our ET4Gs... Should i put their work together, and make a tutorial for us? i would definately give thanks and credit... The only thing that doesnt work is 4g. Everything else works better, and $50 a month, $5 off every 6 months? Yeeeeees
my speeds are slow when im home but i use wifi. But everywhere else, from a block up the street, throughout the whole city of des moines iowa, my speeds are way faster... No explanation why... But here goes nothing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419488

I wouldn't expect anything to be BETTER about this switch other than the pricing.

i say give consumers as much as possible. carriers are trying to rip us off.

"slow" and "way faster" are pretty vauge terms. Can you run speed test and give us actuals?
Thanks!

So… I need some assistance understanding a situation I have with Sprint right now.

A while back I took my phone into sprint because the screen was going dead every few minutes. They gave me a new phone and I immediately turned on 4g to try it out. The woman at the store took it out of my hand, turned off 4g and said "We don't have 4g around here, don't even turn it on."
I listened to her until tonight. I turned on 4G in my room in my home where I can hardly get any signal at all… Dolphin browser loads almost immediately, Baconreader pulls reddit up so fast. Loading images takes seconds instead of minutes.
… I'm seriously going to slap someone. I'm just trying to think of reasons as to why this could happen without me knowing. I mean I know I'm a rube for not turning on 4G since she said it would be a waste of time but this is completely contradicting everything she said. Is it possible my rom (calkulin 3.0) could be helping my phone connect with 4G towers from other providers? It says 4G and 3G signal and roam control is set to auto and it is not roaming.
The speed test still says it's below 1mb for upload and download. Pretty much .40 mbps. Still that's better than what it was before… I'm just so confused.
Some employees are just misinformed and well, just dumb. They are a bad representation of a company. But yea if i was u, i probably would've turn 4g on as soon as i left the store lol

Maybe they updated your service since she said that or she just doesn't know that 4g is actually available. El29 has the best performance as far as signal goes. At least that's my opinion.

The only other company using WiMax is Clear who's parent company if you want to call it that built for Sprint. Though I can't be certain pretty sure everything their using is part of their contract with sprint and very few towers are being added.

EL29 was great but somewhere along the line during these ICS leaks i started getting 4G on the freaking highways i take to and from work. I seriously doubt that many towers got added
1st. why the hell would you listen to someone when they tell you not to do something with your phone, its yours.
2nd. you pay for that service, thats one of the first things I would have checked to make sure it did/didnt work in an area you knew you could get 4g.
3rd. CONGRATS on finding 4g where most cant

While there is no advertised 4G in Omaha,it is considered a test market so I get 4g from clearwire. Check for yourself. Www.clear.com/coverage
Only a speed test will tell you if you have 4G, or not.
Well, Sprint notes in the community forums that there is limited 4G coverage in Sioux Falls area... CW suggests they're using the BridgeMaxx towers.

Last 3 weeks my service is horrible (not to mentioned previous never resolved problems), went thru 4 different troubleshooting process (each about 2 hours). Phones are acting crazier than ever after sprint had me do those steps, and I am still paying FULL price for service that is not working for almost month.

The first link he gave you is exactly what to do... I am running the 11119 prl and it absolutely lets you have 3g in roam if you use the app called roam control which you will have to buy. Don't bother trying a warez version cause it won't work! My job has Verizon repeaters indoors that blow away any chance of getting a sprint signal. It won't take long for you to get booted if you try. I really do everything I can to keep data to a minimum and it's hard to stay under 200 megs roam a month. People say 300 is the threshold but who knows. just go to distrowatch.com and download a few DVD ISO files and you'll be well on your way to packing your bags me thinks. LOL
Thanks! I am giving them last chance until Monday, and if not taken care of by than - I simple will setup this and download myself couple of linux distribution by wifi-tether
