Is it a Tmobile phone? or Wind or Mobilicity variant?
Is it rooted? How did you root?
Did you try installing a different recovery manager to flash roms with?
Did you try Odin?
Did you bring it back to 100% factory to try fresh from scratch?

its a tmobile phone. i rooted with Samsung GS3 tool kit. yes i tried using twrp and cwmr and both give me an install fail.

Try using Mobile Odin to flash.
Also you could use MrRobinsons root66 UVALH2 with odin to go back to factory stock but rooted. Then install your recovery and try again.

I believe this happened because this line in build.prop was changed:
ro.product.device=d2tmo
It couldve been changed by the rom dev, a mod, or you may have changed it to gain compatibility for the play store, or other app.
If you see that again, look for that line in build.prop and make sure its d2tmo.
It could be something entirely different, as well. But thats the first place id look.

[Q] How to install T-mobile OTA update?

How Do I do it, whenever I click install the phone reboots into Recovery and says Error Signature verification failed on the bottom and menu on top.
It may help to know what ora and model phone you have in case specifics are needed.
But you must be 100% stock. No mods, matching modem, stock recovery. Then put the ota on external and flash in recovery.
Or use mobile odin. If still fails may be a bad download.

It's T999 duh, Isn't there a zip for this update? Or other way I could go with Custom ROM, I don't know which one though, probably just one with Debloat, no mods, or themes
T999 is not the only model supported on this forum.

[Q] Problems updating to JB for S3 on stock ROM

Ok, so i got my stock ROM with rooted, and CWM recovery on my phone. When I started the update process, CWM asks me to install untrust zip file; then an error comes up:
E: Error in cache/fota/update.zip

I have done this twice and the same error comes up. Can somebody let me know what is wrong? Do i have to unrooted and install original recovery? Please let me know.

Hello,
As an update to my situation, I switch back to stock recovery. However, I still have the same problem. Then, I decide to boot into recovery and apply the update from recovery. I use the OTA update.zip file and and the update.zip file from here.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426433
I notice that the two update.zip file is different by size a little bit. I have no clue why it is not working or what I have done wrong. The ROM I am using is the original stock ROM with rooted. I want to know what I should do to update without wiping everything and flashing a new stock Jelly Bean ROM.
Thank you.
Just use Odin. Takes 10 min tops. Fool proof.

Can you elaborate more on using Odin and which ROM to use? My OTA update.zip has a size of 335.65 MB, while the update.zip I downloaded from the thread below has a size of 334.2 MB. They have different size so I assume there is a slight different in the ROM and, thus the size.

[Q] Having Trouble Flashing CyanogenMod 10

So I successfully rooted my S3 (Bell I747M), installed TWRP recovery, booted into the recovery, created a backup (thank god!), wiped using TWRP (factory reset -> wipe dalvik -> wipe cache -> wipe data) and then went into install, selected the CyanogenMod zip and swiped to flash. Failed. Every time. I tried numerous wipes but flashing CM just kept on failing. So I got fed up and restored to my backup.
But I really want CM! One more maybe-important thing is that when I was installing TWRP, it said my device was d2can, even though my device is actually I747M. But I remember when downloading CM I had to download the d2att version (that was listed as the one compatible with my I747M), but TWRP was saying d2can and not giving me the option to choose anything else so I just went with it.
Please try and help me!
Did you download the d2att version of cm?

Hmm alright, are you able to flash any other roms?
I had a similar issue and im trying to recall what I did to overcome this..
EDIT: I think I remember. I flashed a different CWM version and for some reason it prevented me from flashing CM10.1.. Do a google search for "CanadaGS3CWM6.0.1.2.tar" and let me know if it works. If you cant find it shoot me a PM and ill look for it.
Thanks for the reply.
I haven't tried flashing any other room but I have successfully flashed a debloating software made by mrRobinson.
Also‚ I'm not using CWM‚ I'm using TWRP. I installed it through the GooManager app found in the Play store.
If I have already installed TWRP then will I still be able to install that CWM file you are suggesting I install?
It is late now and I am going to bed but I'll be back on tomorrow evening to try again so I'll try what you said then.

I think the issue is that I'm trying to flash a d2att ROM on a TWRM that thinks I'm on a d2can device when in reality I'm on an I747M. The d2att is said to work on the I747M on CyanogenMod's website though so I think the issue is flashing the d2att when TWRP thinks I'm on a d2can.
Anyone have a clue as to what to do about that?

Yup just in odin like a root file. It goes in the pda section. Uncheck reboot,. When it finishes unhook the cable pull the battery and than reboot into recovery after. Sometimes the flash doesn't stick after a reboot.
Cm10.1 has a release candidate out right now rc4 it's pretty stable.
You'll need to make sure your bootlader is up to date before you flash it though.

The second link has the latest boot loaders sorry I should have mentioned that. It has to match the one listed.
I don't know what you downloaded but the twrp recovery off their site should be the .tar to load in odin. The .img file you'd have to load using adb. Easier to use the odin file. No unzipping just flash with odin.

Could you please tell me what method was used? I have a Bell GS3 as well. I followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 to get root and recovery today. I have now tried flashing CM10.1 using the latest CWM and TWRP d2att recoveries and neither work. I'm giving up for today but will try again after work tomorrow. I've read stuff about changing the build.prop files to trick the phone but I don't know where to start.

[Q] i747 can't flash any roms

I'm on the i747 and alway getting an error when flashing ROMs: error executing updater binary in zip, status 7. I read somewhere that flashing an older version of TWRP sometimes works but it did not work for me. I went all the way down to 2.3 from 2.6 for d2att. I resorted to unrooting and flashing the stock ROM via Odin and still getting the errors. I've tried flashing CM10.1, Carbon 1.8, Liquidsmooth 2.9, etc. Anything will help at this point. I refuse to be stuck on freakin TouchWiz...
Ok, this is what I think it is. You have to be on the 4.1.1 bootloader to run aosp ROMS. But, 4.1.1 based roms will not run on the 4.1.2 bootloader.

I did those exact steps and it did not work. i tried flashing pac man rom the last time and it got stuck in a boot loop too. I think there are some files that are corrupt or some temp files somewhere that are preventing a successful flash. my binary flash count was 9. and that was just on this run, ive tried flashing several times before. each time the only way to recover it is hooking the phone up to a pc and using kies to flash back to stock firmware. this sucks.

Uh....yeh...not right ...
Have you messed with device partitions in ODIN ??
If so...something is definitely wrong ...
At this point ...you may want to consider a full return to stock and allow the PIT to properly restore your partitions..
Just follow the return to stock guide (sticky )...in the general section ..
Once restored to stock with a corrected flash counter you can begin again using CF auto root as your root method..
It sounds as if you have root issues and possible partition damage...
One other step you can try first is to boot into download mode and re-root using CF...
That may help....but certainly won't hurt anything...then attempt a clean flash again..
If it fails ...then the return to stock and rooting again seems prudent ...g

I used the sticky on turning your phone back to stock which used odin. I followed that list perfectly which said to flash stock using odin, root using cf then using triangle away, then super user to fully unroot. Then I installed clockword mod recovery, booted to recovery mode, cleared all cache and davlik and factory reset again, then installed the aokp and it got stuck in a boot loop

Here's what I do with twrp when flashing a rom.
Go to wipe menu and then advanced wipe and select dalvik, cache, data, system and internal(optional). I do it three times to make sure. then flash your rom with gapps (if aosp)
