Hey I was wondering if the One X has any noticeable differences in performance compared to the S3 gaming and UI wise. I have an S3 but I like the Tegra optimized games and the design of the One X, but i heard that there is noticeable lag and the S3 is better. Please help with my decision. Thanks!
Yes, Sense is much heavier UI, much more than TouchWiz, laggs happens, sometimes often, hox software isnt good enough to make this phone good enough, bugs happens, but its still good smatrphone.
Hope HTC will get his ass to work, and fix all of this ... sh*t

Is that a yes that I should get it? Also can you confirm what people say that gaming and music are better on the One X (International), over the S3 (International). Those are my two main selling point because I already like the One X build quality better.
Well imo sgs3 is better for music, hox dont have microsd slot, on stock firmware sounds awful, and battery is worst than g3, with mods its better ofc.
For games ? Yeah u got dedicated tegra games but now those games is tech demos, good graphics, sux gameplay, and most of gameloft games dont support tegra, asphlat 6 for example but i heard asphlat 7 works on hox.
Hox got better design and quality of build its clear, better screen, and sense despite its sometimes laggy and slow is best android cover ;-)

Thanks, but the big question is if I should trade my S3 in for the One X or if the S3 is just as good. Also which one is more future proof in terms of performance?
You should really just go into a phone shop and try a One X. Both the S3 and One X have extensively modified versions of Android on them, which in both cases is for the worse IMO and doesn't offer the butter-smooth and clean experience I wanted Android for in the first place.
As such, which one you'll prefer is largely down to taste. For example I think the S3's built-in SMS app is horrible, whereas the One X's is great. Conversely, I think the One X's built-in browser and email client are garbage.
Performance-wise it might be the S3 is smoother, although in all honesty I didn't pick up on much of a difference when testing the two. However make no mistake, when you get a custom ROM on there which takes away all the HTC crap this phone can blaze — if Jelly Bean ROMs start appearing soon with its reputed 'project butter' performance enhancements it's going to be perfect.
As for the hardware: One X looks and feels infinitely better, S3 feels a little tacky and cheap IMO and doesn't look that hot either. The One X is probably the best industrial design I've seen for a phone yet. Also the One X does win on the specs front, although the battery life is a little inferior as a result.
Get more than one opinion don't be a tool. Read up! I like the One X mine works just fine but you have to set it up right. Almost all quad core phones is preference do you like the One X features or S3s? Sense or TouchWiz etc. etc.
Read up around here and in the dev section. see what you can do with the One X if you buy it.

See its all preference I like the One X browser and how it will re-flow the text so you don't have to keep sliding the screen back and forth and zooming in and out etc. I like how it does the word wrapping so you just scroll up and down while reading the article you focused in on it might take a big long extra second to load a page but IMO its worth it. To each his own, what some like others don't.
Answer for ur question its not that simple, its rly similar phones, only details make them different, Sense VS TouchWiz, SLCD2 vs AMOLED (with pentail), Tegra3 vs Exynos. U need to know what u rly need i picked up hox Which is more for future ? Non of them. Soon we will see brand new snapdragon s4 quad core which kill tegra3 and exynos in performance.

AGREE 100% that is going to be a beast but everyone just needs to enjoy what we have now because it wont last too long at the rate that technology is moving. More manufacturers are starting to arrive on the scene. I still want to see how this new PowerVR with the new Quad core is like. Sit back and laugh at Crapple HTC +1 for the win yesterday great!
hi man
i switched from sgs2 to htc one x
and i have to say im not impressed at all
and galaxy s3 is better than htc one x in term of hardware
and for gaming sgs3 is better than the hox
im having lags with some games some times on my htc one x i guess its a software problem
but still i dont recommend switching from sgs3 to htc one x
because imo galaxy s3 is a better phone than the htc one x
but for music i think htc one x a better a little because of the beats audio and in terms of design i think htc one x looks better
but for the rest galaxy s3 owns,,,,,
even my sgs2 preform better than htc one x in some tasks
so stick to ur sgs3 man its a great phone

No you should not. Instead you should donate money to third world countries and save people from hunger and preventable diseases.
For months I've been trying to upgrade. (At&t straight talk etc.) I was going to buy an old my touch 4g slide put it on straight talk but right now its hard to find. So the HTC one v is it worth it (cdma version) would I enjoy it more the I enjoyed my ov? Do you think more roms will be made? Tough decision seeing as I work at lil ceazers not making much lol. So big question is it a good phone?
My customized tapatalk signature
I know there's some awesome devs like jmz working in the CDMA side, but until htc releases the source it'll be slow going.
I came to the OneV from an optimus v, and i love this phone way more. Even if you look at just the hardware, it's a big step up (or at least it feels like it).
If you're planning on doing straight talk, that's GSM not CDMA. Only the virgin mobile OneV is CDMA.
Would you say its worth the upgrade then?

I was waiting for the price to go down, but I bit the bullet based on 3 things:
1. the screen! one look at the fonts and I was in love!
2. ICE CREAM SANDWICH!
3. The development! In a span of 3 months this community/devs have done a wonderful job in showcasing the future of this phone!
I don't want to come off as too negative about this phone, as it is very beautiful and I would probably buy it again. So just be aware that this post is mostly focusing on the negatives.
While single core 1ghz isn't the fastest around, it is fast enough for an android phone. In fact I noticed no significant speed difference to my 1,5ghz dualcore Sensation. And HTC even released a 600mhz phone this year, the desire C. In my experience the utility of more CPU power in android phones maxes out at around 1 ghz. More CPU power and screen real estate just means lower battery life. And the battery life on this thing is pretty much the best you're going to find in the ICS camp. With many of the big-and-fast alternatives, if you're actually using it you're not going to take that many steps away from the charger.
That being said, at the moment I'm slightly pissed off about some aspects of this phone. That's mostly because it feels like a repackaged 2010 phone. It is very pretty with the aluminum unibody and all, compared to this even new high end devices look cheap and plasticy. But you have to like the design, because it's not the most cost-effective hardware. There are a few year-old android phones around with the same hardware, that you can get used for like 100 bucks less, and most of them come with a full list of polished ICS custom roms. With the One V you pay extra for the design and for getting ICS out of the box. And that's not even of much use if you're capable of installing a custom rom.
I bit the bullet because I was running out of other options that fit my preferences. I wanted a three-button setup, and less than 4", and pretty much all alternatives in that camp seem to have some crippling flaw, like crappy battery life or nonexistent GPS capabilities or a really mirrory screen. So far I haven't noticed any flaws on the V, except for the inexplicable button and usb-plug placement, and that the front speaker is really quiet. But most importantly, since it's a new phone, and a non-high-end device, custom rom availability is only just starting to build up. For example there is still no way to get real status bar toggles, which my first smartphone from 2009 with Cyanogen 6 could do.
In the end it comes down to whether you like the design, or whether you care about raw specs more. I'm just not as interested in counting cpu cores, so it's fine for me. Don't get me wrong, it runs perfectly smooth. But it is just 400mhz up from a Legend.
If you like the nose and the aluminum unibody, and prefer a not-too-huge phone, then go for it. But if you are looking for the most price-effective hardware, then buy something used with the same capabilities. You just have to be aware that you pay extra for the fancy design here.
When I was buying I was between One V and Samsung Galaxy S advance...they were similary priced on my carrier.
I choose One V becouse of this comunity and development going on around ICS at the moment, and "S advance" is stuck on 2.3.6. without much hacks to choose.
I was wrong anyway. ICS look great but it lag on this phone like hell. Anyone buying should realy try it first. I mean my girlfriend's crappy LG optimus L3 is a ferrari compared to this. And it gets worse...HTC specification is a LIE. True specs are 2gb ROM/ 1gb user available, cca 365 mb RAM ?!?
Camera looks more like 3MP. with 5Mp mode you get only bigger sized pictures and vid's but cannot capture more detail...like upscaled 3mp camera.
ONE V specs look like leftovers from desire series with a new outer shell. If I've got 2nd chance to choose a phone I'd rather go for a used Desire series and wait for a price drop on good ICS phones simply becouse desire is snappier and One V is slooow.
Hope this helps

It's android 4.03 under that sense ui. Find someone who has older android phone 2.3.x,even a bad one, and compare. It's true that you only feel that lag in multitasking and browsing...like pinch to zoom etc...but also scroll between screens is a big delay

For me cm9, nonsense rom and even suprimo 4.1 made it respond faster but still not even comparable to 2.3.x devices
the HTC One V is a HORRIBLE PHONE! You will NOT be able to hear anyone you talk to, mine has been like this since new and all sound lvls are maxed...im forced to use the crappy loud speaker....i will never suggest a HTC phone to anyone since im locked into a 3 year with this crappy phone..
i guess it all comes from what phone you come from and your budget. i came from a huawei ascend (junk) i love this phone! My wife had a huawei ascend 2 (junk) and i got her on of these and she loves it. I am rooted and running a custom rom, she is rooted and running stock with no bloat. i am sure there are many phones out there that are better than this one, but for our carrier and budget, we can't beat it!

Hello,
Is there any real difference between S4 and Tegra 3 processors? I mean benchmarks are benchmarks, but the feel in daily use? Games? (i know battery life is a lot better in S4), maybe because of newer kernel or so? Red all these benchmarks all over the globe and still can not decide what to do. Maybe HTC will release some gold bullet fix/improvement or so..
I am from eastern Europe so there are only International version of One X with Tegra 3 processor. Also we have SGS3 with quad-core and HTC One S with S4 lets say. The price difference for now is really not that big, for about 50Euros (HOX > SGS3 > HOS). I did hold all the phones, as my personal experience i really did not like SGS3 brightness, it seemed very dark but the deep colors and black was stunning. Inside i liked SGS3 screen more and opposite at outside. Did not tried HOS turned on but i liked most of three the feeling in my hand while holding it.
How about future development? What is you opinion? Is international version of HOX going down? Should i buy SGS3, because i like custom roms so much.. Or should i buy HOS (this one is more complicated, i need to wait some time for it .. and i do not have a phone because of some hobo who stole it ).
This is really hard to pick for me because prob i will stick to that device year or maybe two.
Please do not be mad, i know there are tons of posts out there, comparing these phones, but if i read them all (i did some reading) i will lose my mind and will buy One S with S3 .. or god bless iPhone.
P.S. the last one was a joke.
Thank you for your answers!!! :good:
Well you wrote this on an HTCOne X thread. Therefore everybody will tell you to get the ONE X, however if you want the best experience possible i would go with the SG3.
Why?
1) SG3 has much developer support.
2)Quad core Exynos is faster then Nvdias Tegra 3
3)Many games are not optimized for Tegra therefore they wont work
4) HTC One X lacks a removable battery, SG3 does have a removable battery
5)SG3 supports external SD
6)Bigger display on the SG3
This are some pros and cons. The SG3 is by far the better option.
Samsung Galaxy s2 Nuclear Rocket - Embryo 4.1 [UCLE2 BASE]
iPhone 4S - Enjoyed but Had to Move ON
iPhone 3GS - Went for a Swim
Dog - Custom Rom [Golden Retriever] [BEAR2 BASE]
id pock the hox or s3 for development, as many devs like the s3 , and hox has the tegra which is in the n7. but if y account for looks and feel, one x wins. then after, the one x screen clarity and brightness along woth actual representation of colors beats any smartphobe screen hands down. however, if u like the amoled feel, then its another story.i d pick hox>s3>one s

My opinion:
Htc one x is the best phone i ever had, display is amazing, THD games have very real graphic, used to use latest phones and this quadcore with ARHD 7.2.1 (rom) is far away from others phone that i had (note s2 s1 evo3d iphones) im very happy with hox, very fast and designed well with sense 4, battery is good but (not like S2 or Note they had better battery i think). but my only concern is every time i check xda threads for hw issues i have a little heart attack till i check if im affected of hw issue or not, im lucky couse my hox never had problems in hardware, but people are facing lot of problems, so if i had to buy another phone, for example if i losse hox or something, i dont dare to order hox becouse of hw issues, i will keep it and my next phone will be SGS3 and and im sure i dont need to check for hw issues S3. Dont know much about s3 but i believe on galaxys.
Just my opinion.
Hope if you get one x u will be fault free and enjoy the best phone till now.

I'm a Galaxy S3 owner I'm not here to slag off the HTC One X i think it's a great phone, as i use to have a HTC Sensation & actually liked Sence more than Touchwiz.
But i'm wondering what made you choose the the HOX over the Galaxy S3, was it build quality, Sence, Camera ect ect?

1. Better Screen
2. Better UI though a bit laggy
3. Better Design and build quality
4. Tegra Chip - special tegra high quality games
5. Was released earlier and i couldn't wait till s3 was released
6. Its camera's burst feature and Feature of taking pics while shooting a video
I personally didn't want to wait for gs3 to comeout ,I wish I did,I could have saved me being angry at a phone (first time)for 4 months, now I'm happy after I got rid off it and did what I should have done fist place
i chose HOX instead of GS3 because i had galaxy s1 for 2 years and i was tired of amoled screen and crackling plastic.
the screen on hox is really better in my opinion, and colors are realer!
then, design! i loved hox since the first time i've seen it!
then i wanted to try sense, i always loved it but never used!
i'm happy of my decision and i'll never come back from it!
Cuz its just better like they said "the s3 feel's cheap n plasticy ^_^

Found GS3 to be overrated
HTC sense is much better than touchwiz
Cheaper
HTC brand
My mums GS2 had loads of issues
Don't care about the very small spped differences. Find one x faster in several cases.
THD game support. Power saver core
Honestly when the next flagship is out (MWC 2013) most people's issues with the one x will be fixed, it will use either tegra 4 or snapdragon s4 which are both 28nm a15 which will boost performance and battery life with both having improved GPU with the tegra most likely 24 core GPU. The biggest reason I would find to buy the Samsung galaxy s4 is because of the Mali gpu but tegra 4 may be better

Because I knew some day HTC will fix lagging and optimize tegra, so HOX with his diplay and design will simply become better package then sammy And yesss, they already did it with last 4.0.4 update!
i am an avid mobile gamer and the nvidia tegra chip on this phone coupled with the 1.5ghz processor simply provides an unbeatable gaming experience. i also enjoy the sense interface on this phone compared to the s3,which wasn't. to my liking. then again, its juz my opinion. im sure the s3 does have its fair share of advantages.

had my HOX even before SIII specs were released but would prefer HOX over the SIII
I prefer Sense way over Touchwiz. Android's default UI is better then Touchwiz.
Though would like the "Keep-On when watching phone" fucntion of the SIII, though I think it would drain battery.
honestly i regretted getting the hox
Not a fan of AMOLED or Touchwiz, thought the HOX looked really nice physically, and I also don't like Samsung's side power button. I also don't like the look of the S3, although it doesn't feel as bad as I expected.

These threads are not allowed in sub forums, you can post it in the android general sections, it will be closed very soon
Because I knew that the OX would become the technical and developers' successor of the HD2. In my opinion this phone will live for 2.5 years and more.
Plus I wouldn't touch a Samsung with a bargepole because of the AWFUL TouchWiz *spits*
One word: design...
Look and feel is so much better, that I would buy my hox over and over.
Other great point is the display (vividness of my original galaxy s was the main issue with it)
Although I would have better battery, but everything else is just super since I flash custom roms (I prefer stock Android look over sense and touchwiz)
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
IMHO no comparisons can be done! GS3 is a great device just like the HOX but it doesn't have HTC Sense (And all HTC apps)
In general, as regards the software HTC is slightly ahead and the design of this phone is far better than the GS3.
The performance are equal!! I've had both HTC and GS3 and GS2 and iPhone before, and I have to say that I'd never change my HOX!
Best phone I've ever had!!
Even if I must admit that maybe I'm lucky because my unit is just perfect (no overheating, no short battery life, no flickering, no wifi issue etc.)
To sum up, if you have the luck to get a perfect HOX it is the most advanced and beautiful phone in the world for now!
Of course there are my humble opinions...
Choice based on past experience

I chose the One X based on the fact that I used to like and trust HTC.
Their eye for detail is usually sound. The One X's pysical design is outstanding and I was originally in favour of the their new policy of a non-removal battery. Sence has also always been another plus and the reason to choose the One X. I have owned 4 other HTC phone (Hero, Desire, Desire S and the Sensation) and all devices have been enhanced by the inclusion, running alongside the various Android versions.
But having owned the One X, since May, little things about the device now have begun to annoy me. The back of the device heats up after moderate use. The non-removal battery, originally seemed like a sound idea, until you realise that the battery installed is not capable of lasting more than an 6 hours on moderate use.The fixed SD storage, with no option to add your own, like their previous devices, now can be viewd as an idiotic decision. If they were going down this route, it might have been an idea to increase the internal storage on the phone (and the battery's capacity).
Sence has now become too "heavy" for ICS and unfortunately slows the device down, god knows what it will do to the speed of the device once they upgrade it to Jelly Bean!!
Funnily enough, I still love the device
I had the s3 for 2 days and i loved it but then i tried the hox and sold my s3.
For Better screen, better build quality and better ui i dont need any more reasons
Screen
Sense
Camera
Text to fit browser
Feels nice
Call quality
Auto brightness that actually works
No constantly flashing new roms to improve things
Works great stock unrooted
No home button

Had Samsung phones for years, and loved my sg2 but got impatient waiting for the sg3 so went for the HOX.
Do not regret it at all. Had its issues in the early days as I got it on release day but all has been solved with different otas.
Screen is superior, better build quality. Development is a little slow because of the s off issue but still good. Some very talented developers on the HOX forums. I do wish the battery was removable tho.
I do wish I had my sg2 still though, mainly so I can access skygo and sky sports tv. Oddly, sky release a brand new app a week ago without supporting 2 of the most popular phones on the market right now in the sg3 and hox.

I am getting my phone replaced under the extended warranty but they do not offer the DHD any more. I am a Telus subscriber and I have the choice between the galaxy s3 and the htc one x. They both look like great phones. I am also a flashaholic. So I am not sure which phone to get. Any suggestions?
HTC One X!!!!!! It's super amazing I've used both and id choose that one.
- hit my thanks button if i helped you -
Both are great phones. since you're on Telus are you getting the international variants of both phones? (both with quad core CPU's, the HOX with 32gb storage). IF so then I would call it a toss up. I prefer HTC Sense, so I would go there, but the GS3 is an equally good phone. Since both are top of line devices, they've all got equally large development communities.
If you're on the non international versions I would go with the S3, 16 GB non expandable storage on the HOX is just too small. Plus the US GS3 has more RAM (which may or may not be an issue).
Ram would not be an issue with either of those phones anyways.
- hit my thanks button if i helped you -
Still not sure what versions these phones are. I know the one x is the darker color like my dhd. I will have to ask when I am making my selection. What is the difference between the one x and the one xl?
Also I believe the sgs3 is the dual core and not the quad core.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using Tapatalk 2
I think the xl is thicker/heavier.
Also there is the One X+ which is said to have better battery and speeds. I don't know if this is out or on Telus.

I'd probably go with the s3 on this one even if it looks uglier, it has removable battery, expandable memory, among other features.
