Gallery using data? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What would make my gallery use a half a gig of data? I don't have any automatic uploads enabled. If I did wouldn't it be Google plus or fb data? Never seen the gallery app even use any data before. Could this be another app uploading my gallery without me knowing?

Maybe it's syncing with picasa or something:
in google+ go to settings and see if the Turn on Instant Upload is checked. This could be the issue. Do you have any wallpaper apps installed?
Also go to the Gallery App settings and see if Google Photos Sync is on. Turn it off or check the Sync on Wifi only check box.

Yeah I totally said the wrong thing. Not from the gallery, but when you have instant upload on and it uploads then to picasa. Sorry for the confusion.
I think you have to do it on the official Picasa website or Google plus.

Yeah this is what I can't figure out. I deleted the Google + account, but they are still showing on the phone in Picasa. I guess Ill try that next.
If you don't wan't your online photos to sync with your device, you can turn off sync via settings (settings -> sync -> Google account -> Google photos/picasa).
If you want to delete the photos, there is a button on google+ or picasa that will let you delete them.
go into the G+ app, or G+ on your computer, or the Picasa website. Sign in, delete the pictures, sign out.
Done.
uncheck google photos sync and then clear cache for gallery
Uncheck syns with google pictures in account settings, then wipe app data in \settings\apps\gallery. Unless you wipe gallery data, the images will shoe in the gallery.

I don't understand why people reply to the post and repeat what the person right above them said. But yeah, do what I said.. it should resolve all the problems OP is facing.

Get rid of Picasa sync?

I have turned off most of the syncing but pictures from blogger and Picasa still show up. I have cleared all app data for gallery and media storage + rebooted too.

uncheck "Sync Google Photos" in your sync settings?
Thanks but that isn't checked either.

Perhaps delete your google account and then re add it without picasa sync?
Just to make sure, disable Instant Upload for Google+.

You need to delete the cache AND saved data for the gallery app after disabling sync. Once those files are gone the synced photos will not show up.

Talk to me like I'm 5 about the photo gallery app.

I'm having a problem with regards to the photo gallery displaying way too many photos and only want to display photos I have stored on the phone and the Instant Upload folder that google plus generates. What do I have to do to make this happen?
I've gone into picasa web galleries and deleted a ton of old ones which aren't relevant anymore, but no matter what I try my gallery app is a mess of photos from posts on google plus with no recognizable folder structure or organization at all.
Should I just give up and use gallery only for local photos and then the google plus app for viewing the instant upload folder?
Is there a third party app that will do what I want?
I really can't help you with the stock gallery app as it blows IMO.
QuickPic from the market will let you display or hide anything you wish.
I love quickpic but it's local files only isn't it?
Clear media storage data

[Q] How to turn off Facebook photo sync in the stock gallery?

I have tried turning off Facebook syncing in the account settings and also cleared the data in the gallery app. Yet it still syncs up all my Facebook photos. I despise this feature.
Does anybody know a way to permanently disable it?

Had that issues too but the best way is to uninstall FB app then reinstall it but this time right after the log in screen, uncheck sync galary. That solved it for me. it's pretty painless.
