Is their any way to unlink system & ringer volumes? I change one and they both change. Sometimes I like to hear button keypress sounds & other times dont. I had been turning that down & unknowingly turning ringer down. I'd SWORE I used to be able to independently control these.
Help?

That only lets you un link ringer & notification volumes. Not ringer & system?

I don't see how gravitybox can help unlink system volume and ringer volume. It works for ringer/notifications though.
Still waiting for a solution which works on both odex and deodex.

Hi everyone! Are there any other ringtones and/or sounds other than the ones installed in the Galaxy SIII that I can download? I don't know about you but the alarm sounds in this phone are just to subtle for me.
Thanks!

You can add any mp3 or ogg file.

There are quite a few ringtone apps that work. I used Zedge for most of mine. It's just pull any mp3 file.

I use a flac file for notifications. I guess that all formats listed on developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html can be used.
For the notification to show up, I had to put the NAME.flac file in /sdcard/Notifications/NAME.flac. After a reboot it will then show up as NAME in the settings. I guess the same applies to ringtones, they could be put in /sdcard/Ringtones/.
Note that putting the file in /extSdCard/... won't work on CM9, it just don't get picked up.
Btw, this is about a GT-i9300, I do not know if the Sprint version differs much.
An easy way to get a ton of free audio stuff is through the Zedge app from the play store.

If you're rooted you can dump any sound files in system/media/audio/ringtones or notifications and they will appear in the android system list of choices. I always bring Cassiopeia and Sherbet from the SGS2 to any rom I flash.
You can also search for sound file apk for different phones in their forums..usually Zip and sideload to phone or download zip app

Was wondering if anyone seemed to have my problem- my text notification sound is way louder than my S3's normal notification sound. I've looked all over to see if there is a different tweak but I can find it. I'm probably totally missing the obvious here.
Still on stock, btw. Might be something that rooting would fix?
The volume keys are on the left. The lower one (vol-dwn) seems to work for me . No root required. XD

There is a seperate volume for notifications. Once you hit the volume button and the slider appears on the screen, press the gear icon on the right of the slider. That opens up a submenu. You can just turn down the notification sound separately.
If it's just the text notification compared to the other notifications that is too loud then you are SOL. Try picking another sound.

Hi,
I bought on ebay a headphone coming from a Galaxy Note2 to use on the Galaxy Nexus. The headphone looks like that:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It looks like that the volume control buttons don't operate. Nothing happens when I click on these buttons. However may be the microphone works because I was able to talk while the phone is in my pant pocket.
I use N7Player to play audio. The best I can do is to enable the option "Enable headset controls" then when I hit the +/- button of the headphone volume control, the actual action is move previous/next track. May be it's a cool things but I'd rather prefer to control the volume instead. The 3rd button (having 2 dots) works as pause/play which is perfect.
However, outside of the N7Player app, the buttons of the headphone have no effects. Is there anything special to make these buttons work?
Thanks in advance for any help
Mine works the same, using poweramp and dont have the option to change the volume via headset.

How come you can use Tapatalk HD on your Galaxy Nexus? When it was on sale for $1. I could not buy it because the Play store said it is incompatible with my device.
Ever since the 4.3 update, my phone vibrates for almost all notifications that are sent to my phone. This is annoying, especially because in the actual apps (such as twitter and facebook), i have the option set to not vibrate (yet it happens anyway). Anyone else having this issue?
Check System Volume settings.

My entire phone is set to vibrate.
Depending on how you are set up , those do override the application Settings. So turn that to sound for Notifications but put Ringer on vibrate.
You may have to separate Ringer and Notification volumes before you can do that.

I'm a little confused, can you give me some detailed instructions? I appreciate your help.
Go to Settings > Sound > Volume.
Post a screenshot of what you see.

I'm trying to install a custom boot animation, but the sound won't play. Followed the instructions in video below (move bootanimation.zip & bootaudio.mp3 to /system/media). Even tried changing bootaudio to ogg format and using apps to try and install but still no luck. Using stock 6.0.1 MM

I hear you, but some custom ones aren't that bad. I initially soft bricked my phone trying to install supersu and ever since I unbricked my device using an unsigned stock image from this thread, I have not been able to get boot animation sound.
I've tried looking in countless threads, tried installing zips that supposedly have sounds and changed file placement and editing with no luck. Perhaps it's the unsigned stock firmware.
I suppose power up sound is set to on?
