I'm trying to install a custom boot animation, but the sound won't play. Followed the instructions in video below (move bootanimation.zip & bootaudio.mp3 to /system/media). Even tried changing bootaudio to ogg format and using apps to try and install but still no luck. Using stock 6.0.1 MM

I hear you, but some custom ones aren't that bad. I initially soft bricked my phone trying to install supersu and ever since I unbricked my device using an unsigned stock image from this thread, I have not been able to get boot animation sound.
I've tried looking in countless threads, tried installing zips that supposedly have sounds and changed file placement and editing with no luck. Perhaps it's the unsigned stock firmware.
I suppose power up sound is set to on?

Turn off Proximity Sensor. Most likely in Phone Settings... Haven't been on AOSP in a minute, but it used to be an option.

Couldn't find phone settings. I checked every section of the options menu and there was nothing about proximity sensors. I guess I'll just have to deal with it. Thank.

I meant that I couldn't find it anywhere in the options xD. I'd go back to touchWiz but I always get terrible battery life. So each rom has a different drawback for me xD
I know there 's a ROM out in the dev section that fixes that, but I'd like to know how to do it manually, without flashing another ROM,,,can anyone help?
Thank you!

Use Root Explorer.
Enable R/W
Go to /etc/permissions
Edit platform.xml as the bottom of the picture (add "media_rw" line).
Save and reboot

This is the only way it should be done.
Thanks all for the suggestions - I tried the geeksoft apk and it did the trick. Actually, the first one I tried probably worked also, but the app I was using wouldn't work (iTag)...but i switched to another (Mp3Edit) and that worked like a charm!
Incidentally, I opened that permission xml file to look at any changes, and it appears the line was added just as it should.
Thanks again!
So I have tried factory and aftermarket cases as well as restoring all debloated apps. Why does my screen do this?

Well I am beginning to wonder if that's been changed? I never went in and changed it. I do use xposed framework but the cover still functions as it should.
How can I make sure I am at stock dpi?
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Download an app called textdroider dpi. It will tell you what dpi the phone is currently on. Anything below 640 will put the clock off center.

Awesome!
Ok it says it's 560. I wonder how that happened?
Whatever the case you fixed it! For anyone else you can keep whatever dpi you want by using xposed module App Settings. Just follow these directions https://m.reddit.com/r/lgg4/comments/3htm43/how_to_fix_lower_dpi_to_quick_circle_case/
Now I just need to figure out why the led light is randomly being stuck on even after reboot, and also enabking hot spot causes a reboot.
Simultaneously I noticed SwiftKey typing very slowly too. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and wow it types so much faster.

I've recently returned to stock ROM due to the camera issues on any custom ROM for the LG G4.
I've now ran in to a problem where my Bluetooth won't activate, I activate through settings, the button flips to the right as if it goes to activate but switch doesn't turn dark grey and it stays that way.

Going to another screen and coming back to settings shows that Bluetooth is switched off.
I've got a logcat dump but I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for.

I can see it's having errors but I'm not sure what to do about it - is anyone able to help?
Many thanks!
I'm having this exact same problem now with my G4...

then its sounds like a hardware problem.. sorry.
Fix
Do a full wipe.
Flash the stock rom via twrp (20d prerooted).
And then flash stock rom via LGUP or install any other custom rom and it should work. I had this problem many times and this method always worked for me
Hey everyone, I made a Flashable zip for fixing headphone wired volume keys in custom rom (tested in aex nougat).
If long pressed, it skip current song like in MIUI.
Reboot to recovery and flash it
(It's not a Magisk Module)
Let me know if it work with your custiom
