[q] bricked or not bricked??? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok before I go all beserk-o n ****... I Just had a 800 dollar error.... Code 7 after installing this rom latest version [ROM][XXBLG9][12/08]CriskeloRomV6►15 Toggles ►AROMA ►OTA►NANDROID ON LINE!... and now I cannot reboot or go into download mode all i get is the QHSUSB_DLOAD.... HELP!!!
I'm no novice but this is definitely getting to me... Been searching and all I get is da' normal Hard Bricked BS... If you know something I don't or have not come across so far let me know
By the way here are the steps I took
1. Download ROM & Kitchen
2. Reboot into CWM recovery 5.0.2.8
3. Install from internal SD the ROM only
4. CODE 7 fair "aka WTF!?!?!?!?!"
5. Bask in failure
No lights, No nothing just plug in DLOAD BS........... arghhhhhhhh
She was a GALAXY SPH-L710 SIII SPRINT and I was just coming from flashing, then rooting and installing Busy Box (installing that also) and doing Super User permissions and all... So I was setup correctly... Didn't see a reason to backup data but it wouldn't have mattered in this case if I did anyway... arghhhhhhhh
BTW it gave me a "GAPPS Error" when I was copying it over to the phone... Think that was internal memory failing and I flashed a partially copied ROM because of this.... I OK'd it and continued to power off and boot into recovery?????
OH... There wasn't a SD Card in the phone either... Not that I think that matters all that much..
Here's another thread I started which is the ROM page.... Thanks to all that chime in...

Wrong ROM for Device ??? i9300 vs SPH-L710 US oh f*** I believe I just hit it on the head????????

Your first step is to turn the phone off and try to get into download mode (Vol Down+Home+Power), If you can still enter download mode, you are soft bricked and can recover.
So IF you can access download mode, watch this video, All the links you need will be in the description. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypmqJbZqOaU

Yes, you flashed an international ROM for a US variant.
Follow the post above, good luck.

QHSUSB_DLOAD=KISS OF DEATH. Congrats on tha new doorstop. Ignore the first post, I promise you aren't getting into download mode or any mode at that. The best unbrick service around http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-jtag-brick-repair/

Well, he did say he can't get in download mode, i guess there's no point telling him to do it in the conventional way. If that's the case, from what i read around your only chance is a usb jig to force that download mode (which you didn't say you tried). You can get them dirt cheap from ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Jig-Don...858103?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item46056ecc77
not recommending this link in particular, just showing they go for about a buck). For that price i'd def try it and you'll also get a very useful tool as benifit (reset flashing counters, etc...)
or even make one yourself (very easy too). Plenty of instructions about.
No harm in trying. Other than that, you'll need a repair center, i guess.

JIgs are no good either. They will not work here. Promise
He flashed an international rom which overwrote bootloader partitions with nonsense. The partitioning is f*cked now

Whats the deal with the EPIC?

I've followed about 10 different links to files that I'm attempting to download to de-soft brick my phone. I'm having ZERO luck. Everything is dead. I've never experienced anything like this before for the 10 or so Android phones I've owned and hacked.
I managed to find Odin 4.3, but I keep getting an invalid file error. & before you call me a noob and tell me to download it again, or change the file name. I've already done that. Several times.
Am I ****ed?
I don't know what Odin 4.3 is but...
If you can get into download mode, use Odin 1.85 and find a rom to try.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184091
If you can't get into download mode, then I'm not sure what to do as I haven't researched brick stuff.
I'm also not sure if the dev forum is the right place for this thread.
Maybe.. if u tried almost ever thing u could to bring your phone back from a brick and its still brick than maybe its time to give up.. pay your deductible and get yourself a replacement.. U have to remember there are consequences to hacking your phone and u have to deal with it now.. Sorry

Odin 1.65 is in this thread along with stock Froyo. I had a problem with my samsung logo not showing on boot and following the instructions in this thread got rid of my problem. As others have said, if you can't get into download mode you are out of luck as far as I know.
If you can't get into download mode and have TEP, take your phone into a Corporate Owned Repair Center, give them some bull**** story where suddenly your phone wouldn't come back on, I have done this twice now and they have given me a brand new Epic every time right there on the spot.....no deductible!
U sure down look round for a person that previously have 10 different android phones smh

If you can get into download mode but, you still can't flash, then you probably have a bad cable. If you are using the stock usb cable, replace it with a quality micro usb cable and that should get you sorted. The ones that come with the phone are garbage.
I do find it a little humorous when you say not to call you a noob immediately after you pull "Odin 4.3" out of your hat. You would do well if there was a techie stand up act and your timing was just right.

Yeah man you sure are acting like a noob with the posting in development and all... not to mention odin 4... try turning everything off. Then hold 1 for like 15 seconds then press power while still holding 1. Try around with different combinations of that and it should turn on eventually. Mine did.
cd's or tapes?
Edit: too much natural light perhaps?

I was having trouble ODIN'ing my phone. It kept failing and I thought I bricked my phone because it wouldn't power on. I switched my USB port on my laptop and bam, it worked. Maybe try that (assuming you can get into download mode on your phone).
Try using another fully charged battery from a friends epic. Sometimes waiting an hour works can't tell you how many times I thought I hosed my epic or vibrant for that matter.

Odin Multi Downloader 4.03 wasn't the right tool for the job. I got it from a thread similar to mine where someone was bootlooping and needed to flash back to stock. However, the link provided in the thread that Aryander posted did the trick right away.

[Q]My phone will not start. Just a black screen.

So I recently rooted my phone with this tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkkcCCjeUpI
Everything went great and I was rooted. So next I decided I wanted to flash a rom. So I decided this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817345
I looked over it and followed its instructions. So I flashed it. I also flashed the google apps.
This is where the problems started. I rebooted my phone, and It never would show the boot logo. I kept pulling the battery and it would not start. I thought the battery might be dead so I charged it, and still nothing. I noticed when I plug it into my computer and it makes the little connection noise. (Like my computer is reconising the device) But still nothing on the screen. I tried to connect it to odin and it does not show the device.
So I have looked all over the internet (including these forums) and have found no help. Sounds like I might have bricked my device.
So my last question, If I did indeed brick my device will this fix it? (I mean will it atleast get it into download mode?)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Samsung...369526?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a77c2f8b6
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks, Griffsbrown
Boot into recovery and restore the nandroid you made before you flashed.
Man sure sounds like most the people having problems are cause they are rooted/modded. Hope its a simple fix for you. GL.
You flashed a rom for a different phone, its dead pretty much. research jtag I read its about 60-100$ read more in the future.

You flashed a ROM for a different phone. That is why you can not boot. Are you able to get into download mode? from the power off state, press and hold the volume down and home bottons and the power button. This should bring you into download mode. IF you can get there then you should be able to recover.
always be careful when flashing roms if you can get into download mode like the above poster said then your lucky and can odin a root66 and you will be back to before you installed the wrong ROM.
If you cant ........... your bricked my friend time to learn a lot more about jtag (which is a lot more difficult than odin READ READ READ
The only thing is people have been installing ATT roms for some reason their phones are not bricking but unless the dev says it works i wont try it.

[Q] Samsung t989 Galaxy S II - Bootloop HELP please :(

I downloaded the Jedi Mind Trick JB 2 ROM and installed it via clocwork mod recovery .. That went fine but it took me a few days to realize I didnt have a working video camera anymore on my phone.. so I thought to flash a stock ROOTed rom instead...
Then I found this threat about an updated version of Jedi Mind Trick's ROM labled JB 3.. So I wiped as much as I could in recovery and chose to format all the options it gave me in recover , Format system , data , cache , emms(or something) .. and now when I boot the phone , it shows the first flash screen , and the samsung logo starts to shimmer then it reboots back to the splash screen and repeats this process everal times before just going black and sitting there..
So I've successfully bootlooped my phone doing this..
MY PROBLEM -- I don't know how to charge my phone or connect to it to install anything else..
Is this a serious problem? How can I charge my phone to continue troubleshooting it? It still has some battery to try some things but I don't know how to hook it up to transfer any other roms to it via USB cable and PC in it's current state..
I'm very computer savvy but I'm trying to learn this phone modding stuff and I realy hope I didn't brick my phone in this process.
Can someone please help me out here? I'll be on the forums religiously until I figure this out.
What should I start doing first??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
still working at it
I think I'm at the point of having to use ODIN to flash a new rom since i cannot simply copy this rom to the sdcard to use clockwork to flash it .. Am I correct on this ?
For some reason this rom I found (should be stock rooted tmobile gSII rom) does not want to open from ODIN's PDA button cause its in .zip and not .tar or anything... I'm not sure how to flash this rom with ODIN ( I'm not even 100% sure this is how its supposed to go) Any suggestions ?
phew
UPDATE - So I managed to research enough to find out that there is no way to flash a CUSTOM rom with ODIN.. SO I had to download a stock (presumably rooted) t-mobile rom and flash THAT ...
Now I'm back up with a rooted rom and will begin re-installing clockwork and then my custom deodexed rooted rom afterward.
Thanks for all who almost kinda tried to care to reply in this past 2 hours =) -- As previously mentioned.. I am a nerd.. I just suck at phone modding. Haha
So , looks like I'm in the clear now and don't need any more support on this particular topic yet.

Is this true? Through a recommendation (haven't done anything to my phone from rooting/flashing KANGSJUGGERNAUT2 years ago), I tried to flash CM10 and ended up with a bootloop myself. Tried flashing through ODIN but it kept crashing; does anyone know why?
Afterward, I tried to reflash it through CWM and from then on bootloops into a installation process that never completes.
For some reason my CWM turned super slow, freezes/hangs and reboots after a few minutes.
I gave the phone to a friend who does this stuff on the regular but he said my initial flash wasn't complete cause in download mode says I'm still running official? No clue.
I was told this via email/chat: "No luck, it won't even boot anymore, I think I'll just bring it back tmrw morn
10:43 PM
Sorry I'm at a wedding (yea I know random) I left my phone with coat check
OK I've narrowed down the reason but not the solution, you had an AOKP based ROM which fundamentally is based on CyanogenMod, but it wasn't correctly flashed as the phone still thought it has factory ROMs still running
11:10 PM
Clockworkmod(even though it was working before) wasn't accessing the partitions of the phone correctly so it wasn't properly wiping or flashing properly.
11:12 PM
So basically from the first time you flashed cwm it didn't flash properly then the next time you flashed using the new recovery it didn't flash anything it was supposed to do itself properly , so basically it was a chain of events in addition to a bad boot loader, that's why it never went to recovery or download mode correctly
11:13 PM
That's something that had to do with the way the phone was built meaning you may of had a bad bootloader from the very begin and are now feeling the synptoms
Basically, and I would hate to be the reason or partially the reason you have a dead phone, basically it was a matter of coincedencr that it happened as this could of happened at anytime, once you have a bad boot loader its pretty much down hill from there"
Any helpful insight as how I can rectify this? is my phone truly dead? Sorry about the quoted format, it was copied and pasted.
If I were in your boat, I'd use Odin and flash the stock 4.1.2 ROM.

you can try using adb and put the phone in dl mode.
sometimes its as easy as pull battery and wait awhile (20 min or more) and try again.
if you've exhausted all possibilities, you can use a jig to force a dl mode.

I don't know what adb is, or how to use it; I have, however seen my friend RDP to my desktop and do something and used the term 'adb' in his attempt to code through the phone.
I've done that battery waiting period, for nearly an hour and still no result.
After doing some researching, I have found that many people have stated a USB JIG would not be applicable to a 'hard bricked' phone. I really wanted to try as it looked like the most, simple and inexpensive solution.

Pretty Sure I Hard Bricked - HELP!

Day before yesterday, I tried to go back to stock. Must not have had the right ROM or something. Long story short, phone doesn't turn on. Computer will make a noise letting me know that it has been plugged in though. Under device manager it comes up as...
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM7)
So, hard bricked? Tried pulling the battery and everything else. So I guess, can anyone point me to a guide or explain here step by step what I need to do? I did some searching and found various guides, all of which seemed to differ. Looking for a good solid answer. I have a Jig on the way but not sure whether or not it will work.

As I pointed out there, even though I've never seen it show Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader, it does match what we do often see as QHSUSB_DLOAD.
@nbar7655, you also confirmed the red led in your last post, so yes it is bricked, and as suggested you're only option is to try the debrick method. If that doesn't work, the only other option is a jtag service. The jig, while good to have, will not help in this particular situation.

Thank you. I did make this post just because I felt that it should have a post of it's own and I shouldn't sit on someone else' thread for too long haha.
So, my only option is through the debrick img, correct? Any ideas where I can grab one. I believe I know the steps to doing it. (Throwing it on an SD card) but I seem to find different debrick files all over the place. THANKS!
I agree about not hijacking that firmware thread for this, so no big deal.
This is the thread I was referring you to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47984104
It gets confusing because everyone creates a new thread for every brick just about. But since yours happened while on 4.3, try using the debrick.img provided in the OP.
If it doesn't work, don't give up. Many people have had to make several attempts before it would work. It may seem a lot, but id try at least 6 or 7 times before giving up on that image and looking for another.
OK and just to double check, all I have to do is write the image to the sdcard, pop the SD card into my phone and then (attempt) to power it on?
UPDATE: OH MY GOD! Got it into recovery!!! Where do I go from here? Lmao
UPDAT2: Ok, so I can boot into what looks like stock mode but I am sure that I am only booting from the SD card. So at this point, do I run odin and flash a stock ROM?

Im assuming you used the 4.3 debrick.img correct? And is it booting into stock or a custom recovery?
Either way, try to reboot download mode and Odin flash the MJB firmware. (Don't forget to take out the sd card first). Hopefully, after the flash completes it'll reboot right into the OS. You were on aosp before, right? You may need to factory reset to get it to boot all the way.

Where can I find that firmware?
My bad, I am assuming from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998
If so, what exactly am I grabbing from that?
Also, any files that I grab from there...ODIN doesn't see them because they aren't the correct file types? Maybe I am not grabbing the correct ones?
Well, the firmware I had in mind is the same that is in the thread you first posted in. Try redownloading it and flashing again. Ill try to find an alternative if you prefer though.
I know there is a method where you first flash recovery with odin, then flash the firmware from recovery. Id have to locate the files needed though. (The thread you linked to may have exactly that though. I will look closer in just a bit)
Ok, if you want to try another way, go to this post:

Download the one that says to flash with custom recovery.
Now, using Odin, flash TWRP or CWM recovery.
Now reboot to that recovery and flash the package you just downloaded.
Factory reset.
Reboot.
If it tries to boot, but hangs or goes straight to recovery, download the other package from that post and flash it in Odin. Then try to reboot again.
Basically, if you follow the instructions in thst post from start to finish, you should be able to boot up to stock 4.3. If you do not flash the last part in Odin (if you stop after the recovery flash), hopefully your device will be able to boot into whatever you last were running. It would probably be best to go back to full stock though.
Good Luck!

When trying to flash this in CWM: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=f...c22e9070f53359adf81131967fe536789e19937d7b610
I got an error (status 7)?
Update: Got it installed. Problem was that I had it stored on the SD card instead of the phone storage.
Update2: Currently sitting at the white screen with the AT&T logo. Will see if it gets past this in a few minutes. If not, I'll reboot into recovery and flash the stock ROM.
Update3: BOOTED IN!
Update4: Going to try to now boot without the SD card to make sure it isn't still booting from that!
Update5: SUCCESS! I can now boot from the system itself!!!!! ALL SEEMS GOOD!
You guys here are undoubtedly the best people around. Awesome responses and spectacular help! HOW DO I DONATE?!?!?!?
That's awesome news! Really glad to hear you got it working again! As for donations, many people will have a link under their name on each post, or on their profile. If you can't find this for someone you can always PM them and ask if they have a PayPal or other account they can accept donations with.

D851 Wont Boot into TWRP or Into Android after flashing Fulmics D855 ROM

As the title says, i mistakenly selected D855 in Fulmic ROM(Noob mistake). Just this morning my friends suggested Fulmic ROM so i decided to download and flash it. I already had root and TWRP 3.0.0-0 installed. After the download was done, i copied it onto my SD Card and booted into TWRP. In TWRP, i backed up my data as i had already done a full backup a month a go. I was on Stock KK 10C.
When i selected Fulmic's zip, it asked me to select my device but i noticed there was no D851, but there was the at&t version, Verizon version, D855 etc... So i selected the D855 as i taught somehow the D855 and the D851 were somewhat similar and that it would run on my D851, (yea... i now know it was such a stupid assumption i made). So i flashed the D855 onto my D851 and once it was done, i hit the reboot button and the device went off and never came on. I tried booting into TWRP but nothing worked, then i took out the battery and pressed vol up and inserted the USB and it showed me an empty battery sign with a yellow triangle on the lower right side of the empty battery.
When i connect the device to Windows, it shows up as LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port.
I am pretty lost here, i dont know what to do right now. I have been reading lots of threads but i havent found any thread that explains how to deal with such a situation.
Any Help is appreciated.
Regards Mickey.
Wow! No replies so far?
People, i am loosing it here. Any suggestions are welcomed. I have no idea what i should do
Cry...and be very angry. Jk
You more than likely hard bricked like others are doing because they're flashing the wrong things...
It's like using diesel in a petrol motor and vice versa. You're gonna have a bad time.
Honestly I don't know how to help because I don't flash things that don't go with my device, I am not being a jerk but just saying, i'd take a look at the hard brick Q&A's ive seen a few of them. They might have what you are looking for ?

If all else fails, you should be able to restore by following the instructions for a hard brick recovery. I warn you it is not a procedure for the faint of heart, but it saved my bacon (AKA, LG D850).
It involves shorting two pins on a chip (can't remember if it's the SOC or not, but it hardly matters). I managed it with a pair of needlepoint tweezers, but the guide instructs you to use a fine wire. I can't imagine doing it that way, but maybe you can.
In any case, the guide that worked for me is here, "http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/guide-fix-hard-brick-recovery-guide-t3132359" . Just follow it to the letter and don't compound your earlier mistake. (Not trying to be a jerk; just advising against rushing the process or second guessing any steps. You might think it can't get any worse or you've got nothing to lose, but it's still possible to make it worse by doing something wrong.)
Good luck!
