Only few people bother about that :
When you open for example a web page and then open 3 or 4 light applis like appygeek, news republic, or tapatalk and you return back to your web page, this page will reload most of the time.
Same problem with HTC sensation and Samsung galaxy note ....
I think there isn't this problem with an old iPhone 4 ....
Any idea ? Is it a problem of ram, a problem with android ?
Envoyé depuis mon HTC One X avec Tapatalk
Problem with sense taking up a lot of resources so ram is limited. But it got a lot better with the 4.0.4 update. Before that it wouldn't even work with 1 app open.
I have android 4.04, I tried with official Rom and with insertcoin, with sense and without sense, same results.
As I said sgs note is not much better.
Do you know a smartphone that works well with multitasking ?
Why 6 years old pc don't have this problem ?
Envoyé depuis mon HTC One X avec Tapatalk
if you're rooted, simply set the low memory killer parameter using application such as system tuner .... (if you're using venom viperx rom, you do not need to download additional app, just launch venom tweaks and configure it here)
or use terminal emulator then write su then echo "1536,3072,4096,10240,10240,12800" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree (or the lower values)
there is also a problem in iphone 4 though, but because of the memory management of iOS that called makes app run at lowest resources as possible, the problem is rarely happened at the time iphone 4 was launched ... now i dunno if iphone 4 could still do the trick
Actura,
I am rooted, I have just installed system tuner.
It looks a bit complicated but If I have understood, I have to do this :
in system tuner, in the tweaks I chose oom and set the memory presets to very light and then the settings are 2 4 5 8 12 16 mo is this ok ?
Envoyé depuis mon HTC One X avec Tapatalk
And for you it makes a real difference than using HTC normal settings, for multitasking ?
If so I would be so happy because, it's very annoying to have my browser always reloaded when I open several mini applis like tapatalk.

I tried just about every setting, but this annoying behaviour is still there.
The reason is because there is no swappable memory, so each application has to remember its state by themselves.
This is by design - by my opinion one of the most terrible design features of Android.
The reason for this design is that you normally do not close a program, but leave it in the background 'running' when opening another app. So, because you don't close any application, the OS does this for you when it is needed.
However, the OS does not know which background application can be force-closed and which must stay in memory or, at least, be remembered.
When anyone has a real solution, I would welcome it!!
eg. closing the programs in a selective way:
- Define an exclusion list (these apps are never closed by OS)
- Define an inclusion list (these apps are closed first)
- Define an order for apps not on these lists: - by last opened, by memory consumption, by... (whatever else could be relevant)

The "manual" fix I use is the feature most roms offer to kill an app with a long press back instead of sending it to background. It's nothing complicated and I decide what stays in background. Not only per app but also per case. Sometimes I like maps in the background but sometimes I like it shut. Nice sideeffect: Its a lot faster to close than most apps that offer a "Quit" button.

Yes, it's in ViperX and I love it! Use it constantly. However, it is a forced close immediately, so apps that remember their state when closing do not save that state when using the long-press-back. This is something to remember.

HArrharrharr. Yes. And I love it as much as I love my "kill -9 PID" on linux. Gives me the short feeling of being the one controlling it (right before I realize again that the opposite is the case).

Ok guys !
I think I have tried a lot of methods, system tuner, scripts ... But nothing changed my one x in a Ferrari !
I am talking of multitasking of course.
I am talking about the ability to open a background app like dolphin browser, without always reloaded the app or the page.
nothing has never worked well.
If you switch between 4 or 5 applis, when you return to tapatalk or dolphin the page will reload.
I tried the galaxy note 1, a bit better but about the same, I think it isn't a problem of brands.
In conclusion do someone tried and found a smartphone that really works with multitasking ?
Why the hell, our old pc can do it and not our smartphone ? Have you an idea ?

Firefox never reloads for me, nor any games. Multitasking is perfect on my phone. Saw alot of people complaining about these problems, but also there are people like me, who has the perfectly working multitasking.

If its bothering you would buying another iPhone be better? Or a note 2 with 2GB of ram.
guys still wondering about Sense 4 multitasking should check this, there is an app limit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900626
thanks to arincs for finding this
An iPhone, me, coming from sense ? Never !
Hamdir I think it isn't only a problem due to sense, cause when I use my one x with a no sense Rom the result is almost the same.
G note 2 maybe... Samsung gs3 with 2 go ram maybe.....
It would mean that real multitasking is only possible with a lot of ram...
I don't think all is so simple but I hope so.
Am I the only one who is surprised that you can open 15 Windows with 2002 old pc (without any reloading) and not with brand new smartphone ?
Envoyé depuis mon HTC One X avec Tapatalk
There are 2 app limits.
All androids have the one that Maximum Overdrive fixes.
Sense has another one... which is why I also came up with the Non-Sense Limit as well.
All the mods are in the services.jar files that I attached.
@zeppilinox
What is maximum overdrive ?
I have read and read your thread about multitasking, for me it is very complicated...
I don't want perfection is there a method quite simple to improve multitasking.
I have insertcoin Rom with sense 4.04 but I can uninstall sense no problem.
What you mean zeppilinox is that the problem of multitasking is due to android system, not due exclusively to one x ?
Envoyé depuis mon HTC One X avec Tapatalk
No problem for me... I can run firefox, open appy geek, calendar, solid explorer, sms, gmail and return to firefox without reload the page...
Running on ViperX and franco kernel. (around 270 - 300 Mo free ram).
Try perhaps another scheduler, I have read it can change multitasking performance.
Sorry for my english

Hi all,
I got my Desire HD about 4 weeks ago, and used it quite a lot, with barely any apps installed. (I never use app killers by the way) Over time i realised it was actually acting quite slow for a phone with it's spec, so i asked Vodafone and they sent me another one.
My new one, that i've had for 2 weeks now is still slow for what i would expect from a phone like this, and i'm not just being fussy either.
My friend has an X10 mini, and was showing me the other day, and i was shocked at how much more responsive and faster it is than my Desire HD, so i looked up lag issues and found xda developers.
I tried enabling USB debugging, checked for the latest update, rebooted etc.. it feels like i'm only getting, what... 25 frames per second at best? usually looks about 20 (in menus) when compared to my friends X10 mini, his looks as if it's easily scrolling up and down the drop down or popup menu with all of your apps in it, at 60 frames, (something above 30 anyway with NO lag whatsoever) and i have yet to flick my menu without seeing some degree of jitter while scrolling. I downloaded the Quadrant Benchmark and found I got 2002 Points, which when looked at in the graph.. there is no way the x10 mini could even scratch the DHD's score... so...
WHY does my phone feel sluggish? Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Thanks
-J
Here is what i did:
- Install ES Task Manager and add the widget and run it often. (Make sure to add the apps to the ignore list that you do not want to close)
- Remove as many widgets as possible from screen
- Install LauncherPro (It speeded things up a hell of alot for me)
- And most importantly, if your SD Card has a lot of stuff on it (Music etc) then delete as much as you can. The less on your SD Card the faster it will be.
I've Tried that...
Hey, before I wrote this, I tried formatting the phone and did a factory reset, the menu STILL lags and jitters quite a bit. Surely this isn't supposed to happen on a fresh version of the phone with NO user junk on there? and I've heard that task kilelrs are bad for the system, usually doing more damage than good.
Do you have anything on the SD Card?
I am not sure about that, the task manager on mine seems to be very good, i have stopped it from closing important apps which need to be open though.
Hmmm
No i don't have much on the SD, olny the files that the phone adds itself, i tried removing all of my user data already, still no sucess.
Try the task manager if you wish. It works perfectly fine for me and i have been using it for months.
OK
I just tried the task manager... made a little difference, but the menus still lag!
Try turning Auto Sync off for a while too... I am unsure why the menus are lagging. Mine seem fine. What menus lag?
The one where you tap the arrow in the bottom left, and all of your apps are on one page lags the worst. sometimes scrolling on the home screen too.
install launcherpro!!! the menu will ALLWAYS be laggy on ****ty HTC Roms..

same here, i`m using stock rom 1.72 flashed via RUU, OP maybe try to back`up your rom and flash a custom rom like revo or leedroid and see how it is...
ok try watchtower
and see how much RAM is used.
try to use another ROM, not sure if your service provider accept it.
i am sure it is a software added by your provider, or some settings needed.
i would go to:
- format the SD card - don't forget to back it up
- full reset my phone
still same problem ..... find a clean ROM and flash it.

Hey all, HTC Sense has been my Favorite UI for LONG time now, recently, i`m having some sort of a bug or so.
it`s like this:
UI is OK, running fine.
i fire an App (Barcode Scanner, a Game, or pretty much ANY big App except the really small apps like calculator, market access..)
when i hit BACK button to exit from the app, i`m supposed to go the the HOME but when i`m there i find that HTC Sense is LOADING (just like if it was FORCED closed or something) of course, i DO NOT get the dialog which says "HTC Sense isn`t responding [Force Close]" it`s just loading... and that has become VERY annoying... to wait for Sense to load after every app i use!!!
any solutions?
Notes:
Desire 2.2.1 LeeDrOiD 2.3b
with esk0Glass transparent theme on top
[of course i had NO PROBLEMS what so ever with those 2 installed together in the past, i just had the problem recently.]
i have 144 App -according to the AppDrawer- (30 of those are games *just to show off*) installed.
2GB SD card, FREE 330 MB
Free internal memory 54 MB

Don`t the Devs use the Source codes or those stuff to modify it ??!!
Well, i`m not a Dev so i don`t know.. but that`s what i thought..
Most of the time reloading of Sense is caused by to low RAM, how long do you go without a reboot? It's best to reboot once a day/once every two days.
As a alternative you could also use a task killer to clear RAM but there is more setting up to do with apps you can kill and apps you should not kill. If you decide to use the taskkiller, do not use it with autokill or something similar just use it instead of the reboot.
@up - well, although your statement abot ram may be a good guide on where to seek for the problem, from what I understood my problems with Lee roms does not corelate with low ram... even reinstalled latest LeeDroid and checked - 130mb free ram and still random (well mostly about the time I finish speaking or closing the applications) FC happened... Again mpved back to Aurax and everything seems ok. I do have my own reason - reed in the polish android support forum that Lee has changed the default CPU settings and the problems disappear when you install the default sense settings. Good luck.

So I just thought I'd start a thread of to see what people expect to come to the One X over the next few months and what they would like too.
Obviously there have been rumors about a music streaking service and Sense 4.1. Do you think we could get better performance out of our device, live wallpapers fix etc?
If you have anything against this thread, don't comment. It's pointless, I agree, and has been made solely with the intention of finding put what people want and expect from their device in the up and coming months.

I would also like to see the 3.0 kernel and usb OTG. Would love to hook my HOX up to my dslr. Also, some more optimization of Sense wouldn't be the worst thing as I believe that having lag when scrolling between home screens is unacceptable for such a high end phone.
Edit: I forgot to wish for increased wifi performance

Most important ones in that order:
- Stable GPS (, especially when cycling slow or just walking)
- Improved battery life
- A way to change volume of all channels, because many apps use a channel (eg. Alarm, Notifications, Media) without giving the opportunity to change the volume of that channel
- better way to remove all default apps I don't use
- change behaviour of the hardware buttons (right button = menu, long press home= recent apps) - I already did this, but default would be nice for non-rooted devices.

+1 here as well. I don't want to root as genuinely don't want to give up my warranty but I am begging for this feature to get rid of that ugly menu onscreen button.
we need the following urgent features in the next update
- 3 Dot menu disable option or switch to hold the home button for menu
- Power options!! this is a must for such processor, Economy, Balanced and Performance mode like it is on the T Prime, needs a widget too! they can put a warning for users to know performance mode will drain more battery and cause higher temps
- Fix the flv video bug in the stock gallery
- Fix the crazy behavior in the stock browser like a better way for the nav bar to come up at will
- Fix applications priorities Sense should never reload during normal use but it should kill it and most background process during heavy games
- They should also include ultra rosie officially for stutter free sense launcher
- If they are generous they can provide multitasking options too since these can be switched on the fly in android!
these will make the HOX the ultimate device and kill the need to root
3 dot
Sort out the multitasking
Profiles for the tegra cores, for gaming, general use ect

Personally I would like to see the following:
- HTC Hub more 'personalized' for the Tegra 3, such as free games etc.
- Sense certainly needs speeding up and prioritizing over other applications.
- Charging & Screen issue, when Charging the phone can sometimes become unresponsive.
- Speaker optimization, sometimes when playing Audio it will go quiet on Bass as the speakers equalizer isn't perfect.
- Slightly better battery life, I still don't think it totally uses the Low-Power Core to it's full potential.
As to people banging on about the buttons, have you noticed in some non-Google developed applications the 3-dot menu does not appear? The 3-dot menu can be disabled by the application developer if there is another way to get into the menu. For example on Need For Speed Hot Pursuit the 3-dot menu appears at the side, however hitting Pause will take me to the same menu as the 3-dot menu. This is a developer issue, the menu is enabled on ICS by default, but can be turned off by the developer!
Agree with most of what's been said.
Don't forget Sweep2Wake to save the power button and for those with small hands.
Nope. Not entirely. Although google seems like they want to get rid of physical buttons, it's HTC's decision whether they want to have a 3 dot menu button OR not. This is easily removable and shouldn't take much effort if any at all.
PlayStation mobile game coming soon too, that will be really awesome

Sure, CM10 can be daily use :good: and must one day one charge.
There are many CM10 ROMs. And all of them have different bugs, try them out for yourself!
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
- Occasional soft-reboots with GPS On + Facebook
- WiFi direct doesnt work
- MHL output is rotated incorrectly to portrait in horizontal mode (but workaround added since alpha 8 for hw decoded videos/youtube.
- No FM radio app in ROM
- USB storage copies slower than normal
- Some paid apps loses settings/acconts due to this android jellybean problem: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34880 Solution is to backup with Titanium Backup and restore to internal memory, not to sd
These bugs are in every cm10 Hox Rom
Concerning battery life:
From my experience the battery life is not as good as it is with the best ICS roms. At least not yet. I have already tried a lot of roms and to give you an example: viperx (ICS) has better battery life than icecoldjelly (JB).
This is of course also due to a shorter development time and less experience with the JB version in the whole community and escpeicially for the HOX.
Currently I'm running CM10 Alpha 5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696) very good rom.
Issues with Alpha5 that I'm aware of (follow the link to find all the current problems).
- Some users are experiencing problems accessing music via Apollo player and 7nplayer (Poweramp users aren't experiencing these problems)
- Also there are some users currently experiencing problems with the gallary app, but it seems like the guys are finding work arounds for it
- I've had heat issues on alpha 2,3 and 4 only when playing games. which seems to be resolved for me now.
I think different users experience different problems, so the best would be to load it, try it and if it's not working for you move on to the next rom.
Besides wifi I hardly have any issues using CM10.
With Wifi on my battery drains incredibly fast on CM10. Overnight is like -30% at least. I tried the suggested router settings but they do not work for me at all. I'm using my mobile data for the time being, batterylife is acceptable than for me.
The wifi reception is not as good as stock either.
Also, locking the phone does not always work on first try.
Anyways, ICS is no longer an option for me I tried it again when that Sense 4.1 dropped but went straight back to CM10/JB, so smooth!
report
-multitasking is not possible with some apps
- no task mangaer
- camera quality is very bad
-whatsapp doesnt work sometimes
- number pas stops to work at times
Hi everyone, I'm new here, and this is my first post.
Unnecessary Information:
I'm not actually new to this site, since I've got huge amounts of help in the past thanks to the guys here. I am creating this thread because I looked up on these forums and couldn't find a post about my concern.
You see, I'm a Zenfone 2 64GB/4GB 551ML owner and I'am pretty happy with it. The bloatware was not a big deal to me since it can be removed easily, and some ZenUI apps are quite nice though. Sometimes, I wish ZenUI was a little bit more alike to pure Lollipop in terms of UI and UX with those smooth and beautiful animations included, but anyway, that's not the point of this thread.
Actual post:
I am here to ask any of you, ZF 2 owers if you have experienced disappointment when it comes to performance of this cheap little monster. This phone is amazingly fast (for the price) and smooth (most of the time) but there's something that bugs me quite a bit: those so-called 4 GB of RAM seem to be non-existant. I mean, come on! Zenfone 2, you have 4 GB or RAM, behave like so!
When I finally let go my anxiousness of having about 2 GB or free RAM at max (I might yet flash CM 12.1 or something to remove some bloatware apps completely to ensure I get 2.5 3 GB of free RAM), I notice this guy does not keep apps on RAM cache, I have like 3 open apps and when I open a fourth one and get back to the first one BOOM!, the cachè clears itself and have to open it again. It is not actually a big deal since it takes about 2 seconds or less to open the app again from the Recents screen but COME ON!! You have 4 GB for usage!!
I watched a video on Youtube of a dude testing the ZF2 endurance and it kept open like 5 games, kinda heavy games like GTA San Andreas, Nova and some Zombie ones of which I forgot the names. I even noticed the RAM management was better on Performance Mode but even then, it doesn't keep many apps open, more than 6 apps open mean one of the apps must be opened again. :s
Question:
So, is this a common problem? Am I the only one? Is this not a problem?
Thank you in advance. Regards!
It's probably auto start manager cleaning up apps
Yes this is annoying, auto start manager closes apps that are not set to "auto start". To fix this you either set the apps you want to keep in the background to "auto start" or disable (freeze) the auto start manager.

Interesting...
Thank you for your replies.
I'm gonna test it today if it is the problem and post an update about it.
