Sure, CM10 can be daily use :good: and must one day one charge.

There are many CM10 ROMs. And all of them have different bugs, try them out for yourself!
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

- Occasional soft-reboots with GPS On + Facebook
- WiFi direct doesnt work
- MHL output is rotated incorrectly to portrait in horizontal mode (but workaround added since alpha 8 for hw decoded videos/youtube.
- No FM radio app in ROM
- USB storage copies slower than normal
- Some paid apps loses settings/acconts due to this android jellybean problem: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34880 Solution is to backup with Titanium Backup and restore to internal memory, not to sd
These bugs are in every cm10 Hox Rom

Concerning battery life:
From my experience the battery life is not as good as it is with the best ICS roms. At least not yet. I have already tried a lot of roms and to give you an example: viperx (ICS) has better battery life than icecoldjelly (JB).
This is of course also due to a shorter development time and less experience with the JB version in the whole community and escpeicially for the HOX.

Currently I'm running CM10 Alpha 5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696) very good rom.
Issues with Alpha5 that I'm aware of (follow the link to find all the current problems).
- Some users are experiencing problems accessing music via Apollo player and 7nplayer (Poweramp users aren't experiencing these problems)
- Also there are some users currently experiencing problems with the gallary app, but it seems like the guys are finding work arounds for it
- I've had heat issues on alpha 2,3 and 4 only when playing games. which seems to be resolved for me now.
I think different users experience different problems, so the best would be to load it, try it and if it's not working for you move on to the next rom.

Besides wifi I hardly have any issues using CM10.
With Wifi on my battery drains incredibly fast on CM10. Overnight is like -30% at least. I tried the suggested router settings but they do not work for me at all. I'm using my mobile data for the time being, batterylife is acceptable than for me.
The wifi reception is not as good as stock either.
Also, locking the phone does not always work on first try.
Anyways, ICS is no longer an option for me I tried it again when that Sense 4.1 dropped but went straight back to CM10/JB, so smooth!

report
-multitasking is not possible with some apps
- no task mangaer
- camera quality is very bad
-whatsapp doesnt work sometimes
- number pas stops to work at times

Guys I just have a simple question (I'm kinda new to these)

Hey guys I have galaxy w (I bought it 10 or 12 days ago).Don't worry i studied my lesson.I know how to root, flash, install apk etc.
I rooted my phone and installed REM ICS.But i'm not happy with it.Because it has a few problems
In the first place, i want to tell you what i'm looking for.
I just want proper sms app (no mms converting), WORKING gps, menu customization [not by date or title (i'm happy with touchwiz)]
Most important -> goot battery life. That's all folks.
But i can't find a rom that meets my wishes.
Now i'll install rebel rom 3.0.6.
But if you have a recommendation PLEASE let me know.
p.s. : I'm sorry if there are grammar mistakes. Thanks in advance. :good:
CyanogenMod Alpha 8 version should be good to you
but you have the SMS to MMS converter on everyrom (i think) & touchwiz
but normally in options you can adapt it
good batterylife & performance
Or BioHazard has it all (based on cyanogenmod)
just flash the ROM + extra sms file (to get normal sms lay-out) - Biohazard customisation - good batterylife & performance (& touchwiz)
has jellybean 3 features & customisation
EhndroiX is a nice rom based on cyanogenmod
but it has it flaws, batterylife isn't perfect but it's a smooth ROM
it also has touchwiz and Jellybean lay-out
Personally i'm running EhnDroix right now but i'm thinking to switch to cyanogenmod (due to the better batterylife) or biohazard
Now about the GPS function you can use Google Maps / Navigation, you can also download Sygic GPS (look on some forums for a "free" version of it )
then you will have a free offline GPS system with TomTom maps navigation
i hope i helped you out a bit

Ive been using SGW for a lot of time now, when i had the stock rom i used ADW laucher for the menu. As for the battery life, keep 3G turned off or install JuiceDefender, it turns on 3g every X minutes, instead of keeping it on all the time. It also adjusts the brightness. My battery would last nearly 3 days that way with moderate calling.
Hugs.
Also i wonder if there is something wrong with my original samsung charger. When i charge my phone with its original charger, battery drains quickly (%85 in 2.2 hours). But when i charge it with my friend's htc's charger it downs to %97 in 2 hours.Just weird.

As I know Rebel ROM is not coming with a TW launcher, you may try Black Notes Last Page if you wish, it came with a TW launcher, just for your info, in Black Notes, you would have to reboot your phone after running the 99SuperCharger init.d script, as it may cause you unable to receive your message, but it wouldn't really affect you if you don't run the script. Hope it helps.

Are you using the USB cable as charger? That one will be much slower than the charger. For a decent battery life, I would recommend you to use a GB ROM with Juice Defender at this moment, because the battery life for CM9 may be vary from version to version at this moment.
I use its original charger (mini USB).I installed rebel rom it seems like it's okay. But i'm not sure yet.
Ok it sucks more i know it now.SMS problems, slow browsers, performance sucks
Looking for good battery life? Most of the GB roms provide good battery life. Not so sure with ICS roms, right now. If you don't mind using GB rom, i would recommend you MUTANT ROM, not bad.

If you are looking for an economical premises ROM battery GB ROM only the best in my opinion.
I myself have come back to GB after I felt in CM9 b8 only for reasons of battery.
I myself use kezra v4 final ROM, kernel xxlm8. And what you need everything works fine here.

Also, try upgrading baseband. Older baseband might have bugs that made it too aggressive and/or not smart enough to tune power usage.
Back in the CM9 thread, someone posted that he experienced a great boost in battery life after upgrading baseband.
Word of caution: make sure that the newer baseband is compatible with your country's networks.

Most stable rom and best Radio player

I tried so many ROMs but never found a good/not buggy/non laggy one
I want a stable rom and a radio (not one using internet) that doesn't sound like a tv with no antena (spirit fm)
Also i'm asking for an improved rom not an official gingerbread version, please don't suggest this
Thx
Interesting. You could try AOSP ICS from MoltenMotherBoard team or Maclaw version , both you find in development section , them being release canditates and all are a whole lot of bugfree , well for me at least . As for the AM/FM radio i`m curios of an answer myself , maybe someone can enlighten us with a good one
Well, i have tried several cm 9, 10, 10.1 roms and all have their fair share of bugs.. most notably the very low speed with usb transfer, lag in certain scenarios, problems with s2ext or symlinks apps, some have problems with big screen callers, and so on..and i too am very annoyed by lack of radio (spirit fm sucks).. i can recommend you the current rom i am using which is absolutely bug-free once you get it going: cm 7.2 based JellyBread .. from my experience i can tell you that it is:
-lag free, with smartass v2 governor.. especially when waking up the phone after some idle time, other roms (lilke oldroid`s) take some 3-4-5 annoying seconds to wake up and go full speed.. in jellybread is absolutely instantly responding, which for me matters
- usb transfer works at it should..i have 4 class memory card and it is writing at 4 mb/s.. most other roms provided me with 1-1,5 mb/s,, i am talking about formated card with 2 part, one fat32 and one ext2
- wifi has some hiccups, that is transferring a video of 300 mb between my laptop and phone works like this: 1 mb/s for some10 seconds, then drops to zero for 1-2-3 seconds, then again pumps up to 1 mb and so on, like a roller-coaster.. but this happened on ALL roms i ever tried, and in others it was much worse than this.
- it has included fm air radio, and it works fine (but dont have your earphones plugged in-ear when turning the radio on, it is going LOUD for 1 second)
- it is looking great, jellybean like-ish (see for yourself in pictures), smooth animations and everything.. ofc, it is not jellybean, so the visuals when scrolling and such are not as crisp, cm 7.2 lack the tehnology ..but the menus, fade in- fade out and everything, are jb-like, much more nicer than old gingebread, while the performance is the good ol` 2.6.3.7-ish.. a fair trade i`d say
- my battery lasts 3 days easily, with some 2 hours of usage (screen on) during this time..if i turn of background data and stuff, i make it to 5 days of standy (true, very little usage, just some calls during that time, but still)
- s2ext is working fine..which is important..
Apart from JellyBread which i strongly recommend if you want stability and also native radio, as i said Olddroid`s rom which is genuine jellybean is pretty good and almost stable.. once you got it to woke up it works, just some bugs with some specific apps like custom call screen and custom sms handler which were force closing, but definitely much better than the total mess 6 months ago when all these ics/jb roms were virtually unusable.. i remember in august-september i was on an ics rom which was draining the battery from 100 to 0 in under 2 hours, whit screen of i do hope that maybe this summer there will be a stable, bug-free, lag-free jellybean based rom for gio..i intend to give it to my girlfriend when upgrading But for now, I stick with Jellybread
but JELLY BREAD has a problem with lucky patcher.
currently im using AOKP milestone 6 CM9
for me its a great ROM, NEVER had even a SINGLE random reboot, just a few bugs oh and cronmod a2sd++ works just fine
camcorder not working using stock camera app (you can use videoillusion)
usb tethering not working for me (you can use other tethering app)
no FM radio player
well thats the only thing thats bugging me with the ROM, but this is the ROM that still impressed me the most till now

Choosing the right ROM for Wildfire S: Slim or "full"?

Hi there,
I have just upgraded from a Wildfire S to a Nexus4. I would like to use the Wildfire S a secondary phone (for which right now I use a very old/crappy/non-android phone).
So far my experience with the Wildfire S hasn't been stellar (standard HTC rom): the lack of memory made it very hard to really enjoy it: every time an update popped up it was a struggle to get it to install properly.
So I would like to take the opportunity to clear up the phone and install a more ... "comfortable" rom.
I don't have huge requirements: some simple games for the kids to be entertained, some music, check the news ...
My absolute preference is to have a rom that uses very little memory in order to forget about all the headaches I had in the past ~2 years.
So, I started looking for the roms available. My oh my: talking about choice! It's great, of course, but choosing is not straightforward.
Looking here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068879) I see that there is such thing as a "Slim rom" which sound quite attractive from where I am sitting.
So the question is: SlimCM10 o "standard" CM10 (like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136011).
Roms like "ParanoidAndroi" don't seem too attractive to me, not on a screen as tiny as that of the wildfire S.
I would like someone's opinion on this. Perhaps I should look at totally different roms ...
Suggestions?
Thanks!
You have quite a few options.
If you want your kids to play games on, I wouldn't recommend even the SlimCM10 because all it does is removes certain unneeded alps in system. I'm on the normal CM10 and it does lag at times.
CM7 is a good alternative, since it is gingerbread, everything works.
If you want to do a little more work, you can check out the Customized stock ROMs by Crossfire77 and me. They're compatible with most tweaks including the famous v6 Supercharger. After you install this ROM you can install v6 Supercharger, Adrenaline Engine, Pimp my ROM tweaks and even an app called Seeder.
These tweaks and apps will work on all afore mentioned ROMs and will reduce lag by a lot.
Since just CM7 is a bit laggy, installing Seeder would do the trick and you can play games just fine.
You can also look at other sense based ROMs like Wildchild.
Good luck!

Hi Lt Win,
thanks for your input: they make sense to me.
Perhaps I'll give first a shot to CM10.* (I see you're on Jelly King, which is CM 10.0, if I understood correctly): do you have memory issues? (I am worried that newer versions of Android are more demanding, in terms of memory, than older ones).
The reason being that I would prefer keeping ICS/JB type of interface on all my phones, which would make it easier to maintain.
The Nexus 4 is on 4.2, I plan to update the HTC Sensation to the latest CM once I familiarize myself with the whole procedure using the Wildfire S as a guinea pig.
Lag is also not a huge issue: as it is today is acceptable (of course, less is better) as I don't plan on using it intensely.
I don't plan to install particularly taxing games: my kids are young so memory game, coloring stuff ... that's plenty.
I'll research more on what are the issues with JB on the Wildfire S and then I'll make the final decision. I can always go back to CM7 if I don't like how it "feels". In which case, I'll go for your custom rom.
Best regards.
Edit: love the jetpack avatar by the way. I like that game!

Memory issues, well not so much. I get ~100mb free space on install, and a few apps would probably fill it up. I recommend partitioning your SD Card, flashing a script called INT2EXT so whatever size your partition is, your internal memory will be that much. Battery life is a bit of a problem, I must say. There's more on Mobile Data than WiFi, so you would want to use WiFi more.
Again, seeder, adrenaline engine and v6 Supercharger can nearly kill the lag. Of course, games will be a bit laggy. Heavy games, that is.
The issues on JB are:
*Panorama is weird.
*Camcorder has very low frame rate.
*No USB Tethering. (Using phone as a modem)
ICS issues:
*No camcorder - Wrong colour output.
* Panorama is weird / doesn't work. (I don't remember that well)
*No USB tethering.
CM7 issues:
*Slightly worse camera than stock.
*No USB Tethering.
This should help out on choosing.
P.S. I love Jetpack Joyride, its too much fun!

Man, you're a well of info. Thanks! (yes, I clicked the button too)
I plan on using almost exclusively WiFi. In fact, I may get rid of the data altogether (it's the secondary phone after all).
I won't need to use the camera much: mostly still photos for "work" related stuff, so I don't plan to use panorama or camcorder.
Also, no USB tethering.
Which clears me for both ICS and JB.
What I really need the phone for is:
- sync contact (this is actually quite crucial, even though it seems like a trivial feature)
- occasional mail check
- still photos in well lit environments
- listen to podcasts
- occasional gaming
- "portable" storage device
If I can ask one last question about the battery consumption: are you saying that it is especially bad on ICS/JB roms? As in, noticeably worse than with stock gingerbread?
If so, is this also a problem with custom gingerbread roms?
I get a fairly decent battery life with the stock rom, so this was not one of my primary concerns.
Thanks again.

The battery life is a problem with data on, so if you're using wifi you're good. However, battery life on standby is much better than stock but if you use data with screen on a lot, you'll get quite a good amount of battery drain.
Other than that, it's just fine. And I would recommend the following custom ROMs:
Gingerbread - Wildchild (based on stock) , CM7.2
ICS - CM9 Alpha 9.
JB - Jelly King, Speed Droid. Although I love jelly king. Ext partition is recommended on ICS and JB. Use INT2EXT.

I just installed Jelly King 2.0 .... So far it looks quite good. Time will tell.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions.

Also, try out roms see what you like. Others, please don't post suggestions because it may lead to flaming and may cause a serious argument. If you have an opinion about a rom say it but don't say it is the best rom as developers may get offended.

The most beautifully crafted ROM for WFS. You will fall in love with it again. I have tired at least 20 roms. But this one catches my heart.
Well, I have experienced one small bug - data connectivity issue ( when travelling especially data gets disconnected, u will have to toggle data to reconnect). Hope djolivier solves it in next update. ( I guess its a kernel error- not sure)
Works wonderful with WiFi.
Amazing battery life ( Under Wifi, It served me for 12 hours of near continuous Whatsapp usage). But under normal GSM data its only 2.5 hours
And I would recommend any root cache cleaner.
Rest is awesome. If you are patient, then you can try 4.2.2 whenever a stable ones is released by Marvellous team.
Thanks :good: djolivier

Maybe I'm just having bad luck with ROMs. I've tried many as well, but the only one I found myself coming back to was CyanogenMod 7.2 Port purely because it made my phone seem future-proof and made me fall in love with it once again. I did stay with the CyanogenMod 9 port for a while but found an annoying keyboard-sub-key-placement issue which rendered my phone unusable. After that, I did try the Marvellous ROM and had issues.
All to their own, I guess.
For me Miui v4 by Henry is Gold but no multilanguage. The question of the thread is obselete. Everyone has to test out roms

I can't say for sure if this is true, but maybe that's because the CM10 ROM didn't sit long on my device for more than about 20 minutes. I had to remove it because I was getting way too many forced crashes residing around the Trebuchet launcher and even the keyboard. With CM9, I found video game performance to be extremely superior as running games like Canabalt would result in zero lag at all as apposed to my Gingerbread stock HTC Rom. But of course, it had a really irritating keyboard bug so I moved back to CM7. Now, with CM7 out of the box, performance isn't really there. But once I delved into the settings and played with governers and CPU speeds and loading a completely new launcher, I've found CM7 to be faster than CM9.
It just took a bit of tinkering but I get great battery life as well as performance. When I first installed Canabalt on my device, it ran at about the same smoothness as it did on my Stock HTC ROM - it had small graphic delays and lags. Now, it runs just as smooth, if not better, than it does on CM9. So now I have stability and speed on my device and I couldn't be more satisfied.
But I guess people are different. I don't doubt that the ROMs mentioned above are fast. I've probably just been having bad luck.

[Q] Xperia S - KitKat roms daily use + More questions

Hi,
I want to know if the bugs in the kitkat builds are noticeable when using the Rom in daily use, like: sms, phone, camera whatsapp, light games, browsing the web
Are the roms an improvement in compare to the stock rom?
How is the battery life? (Can it go through 3 hours screen on time on one charge?)
Which one is the best? (Cm11, carbon, Pac)
Thanks
I'm using Carbon now. On Beta3 there was few bugs, but since today on beta 4 theres none that you would see on daily usage. Everything you wrote works.
Battery life was same or slightly better than on stock.
Only things i miss a bit is a fastcharge and hdmi.
Fastcharge will be implemented soon so i dont worry about it. HDMI is not working on every opensemc rom, hope they will fix it someday .
But i can live withoout it.
