Hi, guys
Im thinking about an issue that everyone is looking for the best kernel to chase for the lowest battery drain but i thought the main reason of it is SCREEN, I mean most of drain is from screen using right?
So i wonder if theres no many difference between each kernel at bettery drain?

Hi, I have been observing my battery usage for the last few days and have noticed this to be using a high percentage of my battery, it is listed under kernel wakelocks. I would like to know if anyone has this issue and if there is a solution to it.
Currently on trinity kernal, also had the issue on lean kernel and Franco's using akop rom

Your screen brightness is too high and turn off haptic feedback. Btw screen love to rape your battery

I think its the FC22 modem. Obviously modems vary from phone to phone. Flashed it over Calk GB ROM and my battery life TANKED. Went to sleep with 30%, woke up with 4%, nothing in use either
Debloat out the samsung widgets and sprintware you don't used. Makes a huge difference. Check with John C for other battery saving tips.
thanks guys I just saw Calk released fc 24 Maybe that will help with the battery life?? cuz is ridiculous right now.

Are you using auto screen brightness? It is usually enabled by default. If so turn that off and set you screen manually. Personally I hardly ever need more the 25% brightness level.
Another tip, pick up Better Battery Stats on the android market for $2.50. You will be able to see right away your awake time vs your screen on. That way you can see if a rogue app is killing your battery life.
I hope you guys meaning "good battery life for an ICS build."
I'm still running Calk's EL29, and when I see people saying 40% use over 5 hours is great battery life, I feel like I'm in some Bizzarro world!
With medium use at 50% brightness (2 hours of screen-on, 50 texts or so, WiFi and GPS not disabled, 20 minutes or so of actual phone time), I find myself somewhere between 20 and 25% depleted.
Granted, my screen on time is mostly dark things... White on black Kindle reading, white on black text theme, dark background pic, etc).

Using my old HTC EVO for the weekend and I forgot how amazing it was for idle battery drain, must be due better more mature custom kernel.
Bad side though is I don't remember it being so fat and heavy! got spoiled by how slim and light the gs2 is.

WTF 15hrs thats crazy,.. im running this same ROM too but nowhere near that bat life it has improved a lot but unlike this..
um.. web browsing uses 2 of the biggest battery drains of any smartphone, the screen and the 3g/4g radio. there isn't much you can do to minimize battery drain during activities that utilize one let alone both of them.. even surfing on wifi is going to make your phone drain a lot faster
dam my android os is eating my battery and I cant figure how?
okcupid I didn't know what it was till I Googled it. good luck

Hey so I recently tried cyanogenmod 10 nightly for T-Mobile. It is such a beautiful rom. But after I watch like an episode of my Korean drama I lose like 30%!!! Its to crazy.. I was wondering if any of you guys could recommend a nice/cool rom with an excellent battery life comment !

It doesnt always depend on rom it depends also of ur settings and usage..

Those Korean dramas can be so damn enthralling. I'm ashamed to confess that I had neglect my family for weeks on end watch that crap.
As for better battery life, you'll have to try one of the many TouchWiz Roms. CM10 is still in beta hence horrible battery life. Try turning off unnecessary syncing and decrease screen brightness for improved battery life.
My settings such as WiFi is always off. I don't really know what else to turn off. I also turn GPS off.

Take a look at wickedV6 this rom is extremely fast and stable and battery life is amazing.

FrostyICS has my vote. V1 in particular. (V2 was a bit less battery friendly for me, and i have yet to try V3)
So far today I am at 13 hrs, 4 hrs of playing music (local not streaming), 2hrs screen on, and currently w/ 34% left with default sync settings. Of course YMMV as all phones behave differently.
You should do good with pretty much any Touchwiz based ICS rom. They are all good and each have their own strengths. Just check the features of each OP and try the one that sounds more like your ideal rom. Also read the last few pages to see if there are any current issues which are dealbreakers for you.
You really can't go wrong with any of them!

I am currently running Paranoid Android 2.16 with lean kernel and those 2 together have RIDICULOUSLY good battery life. It died after 39hrs of light use yesterday. Standby is almost like it doesn't use any juice at all. About to upgrade to PA 2.5 now

Hi I've got liquid smooth as above on my phone. Since installing I have bad battery life. Losing 10% In 2 hours while sleeping. I dont think I have a wake lock I've checked battery stats and it looks like its sleeping. I have run battery calibration and done 3 complete charge/discharges so I'm at a loss. I've also under clocked to 1200 MHz and using Pegasus governer. Any ideas thanks

Well honestly, I've had the same issue ona completely didn't device but same ROM. Cannot figure it out for the life of me buti think it might have something to do with signal strength...
Get rid of the liquid.try slim bean...its good...fast and battery friendly in combination with neak kernel.
If you dont want nesk...redpill is another option...just to make sure..these 2 kernel...have the best sound quality.

Hey All,
I flashed the Shiny ROM recently. I am getting pretty bad battery life though I didn't own the phone long enough before flashing a Shiny to know if this was a Shiny issue or not. Anyways, I like the ROM well enough but was curious if anyone could suggest another ROM that perhaps goes easier on the battery. I am just on the edge of getting a zero lemon battery but thought I might try a few more software tricks before I plunk down the cash for that battery.
I have already replaced the shiny kernel that is baked into the ROM with the KK422 kernel which I had heard is easy on the battery. Seems to be helping a bit so far.
I know that battery use is highly individual, I am mostly looking for a starting suggestion. I can run my own usage diagnostics.
Thanks yet again!
Use greenify and wakelockdetector. Also you can try to tweak with trickster to get better battery.

Thanks. After I wrote that OP it occurred to me, probably kernels more so than ROMs affect battery life. Just based on the little that I now that would seem to be the case. Is that true at all?
