Your screen brightness is too high and turn off haptic feedback. Btw screen love to rape your battery

I think its the FC22 modem. Obviously modems vary from phone to phone. Flashed it over Calk GB ROM and my battery life TANKED. Went to sleep with 30%, woke up with 4%, nothing in use either
Debloat out the samsung widgets and sprintware you don't used. Makes a huge difference. Check with John C for other battery saving tips.
thanks guys I just saw Calk released fc 24 Maybe that will help with the battery life?? cuz is ridiculous right now.

Are you using auto screen brightness? It is usually enabled by default. If so turn that off and set you screen manually. Personally I hardly ever need more the 25% brightness level.
Another tip, pick up Better Battery Stats on the android market for $2.50. You will be able to see right away your awake time vs your screen on. That way you can see if a rogue app is killing your battery life.
I hope you guys meaning "good battery life for an ICS build."
I'm still running Calk's EL29, and when I see people saying 40% use over 5 hours is great battery life, I feel like I'm in some Bizzarro world!
With medium use at 50% brightness (2 hours of screen-on, 50 texts or so, WiFi and GPS not disabled, 20 minutes or so of actual phone time), I find myself somewhere between 20 and 25% depleted.
Granted, my screen on time is mostly dark things... White on black Kindle reading, white on black text theme, dark background pic, etc).

WTF 15hrs thats crazy,.. im running this same ROM too but nowhere near that bat life it has improved a lot but unlike this..
um.. web browsing uses 2 of the biggest battery drains of any smartphone, the screen and the 3g/4g radio. there isn't much you can do to minimize battery drain during activities that utilize one let alone both of them.. even surfing on wifi is going to make your phone drain a lot faster

WHOA it's rare to see someone say that the battery life is horrible in this forum. You should try a new fresh wipe and install, and try different kernels.
Try darksides super wipe then re install juggernaut ROM. Make sure not to run setcpu or any other cpu apps, I was having bad battery drain running setcpu.

i actually think those "battery saving" and task killer apps uses up more juice than saving ... i had juicedefender ultimate and i noticed my battery drain when it was enabled .. i deleted the app and ive noticed a great improvement on my battery .
Agree
I was also getting horrible battery life on the Juggernaut roms. I tried the bullet kernel, synergy, and faux kernels with all sorts of different ways to reduce battery consumption such as underclocking, undervolting, uninstalling bloat, and removing apps from startup. No matter what, my phone would always be dead by the time I came home from work/school (I'm usually away from home from 630am until 800pm).
I recently started using the DARKSIDE rom/kernel in the hopes that it would provide some better battery life and I am actually getting significantly longer usage times. As of right now after ~15 hours of time spent off the charger and with moderate use (~500 texts/day, XDA app, FB checking, random Internet usage), I have just under 40% battery life remaining. I must say I am very impressed with this rom and give the developer TDJ mad props.
So here's my battery life with Eugene's Macnut ROM:
Compared to this (Juggernaut 4.1 with ICS Ultimate Theme):
I run juggs with TDJ Darkside kernel, kernel makes huge diff

I am running Juggs 4.1 as well previously with the FAUX123 kernel and decided to try out TDJ's Darkside kernel. Wow, huge difference, highly recommend. I use system tuner app to adjust my speeds but main thing in system tuner app is to go into boot settings and set screen-off to powersave governor and max frequence to 800, 500 etc.
I also run easy bettery saver and that helps as well. Battery life is best I have ever had with my G2 and I got it first day it came out and have run most all of the rom's kernels on it. If you can I would suggest running TDJ's Darkside rom as well. I would but just don't want to reload again at this point.
DK
I'll try darkside rom and see if it fixes my battery drain problem.

Thank you for this, I wasnt aware of that, what do you use to change your clockspeed when your screen is off? I recently switch from an iphone and unfortunately battery life seems to be something I have to actually think about now. I know its a faster processor and a bigger screen so I get it, I just never had to worry about turning off wifi and things like that before. I currently am running beastmod 4.2 with darkside kernel. I have 9hrs on battery at 41% with 2 hrs and 15 min of display. Im not really interested in speed at this point so I thought setcpu was a good thing to use to underclock and use less battery. Can you recommend any good alternatives or should I not bother with setcpu type apps. Thanks in advance
On darkside... Not the current one but the one before it... I think it was version 1r2 or something like that. Battery is great, better than juggernaut. I have bluetooth and Wifi on all day

They gobble up a TINY bit more CPU (probably no more than 1% throughout the entire charge) at the cost of managing your data settings. It saves juice primarily when your phone is idling. It pings, it checks data thresholds. The main idea is that it turns off 4g/wifi when you're not using it, and back on when you are. This requires a little but of CPU, but you end up having a battery that lasts much longer.
There's never be a time when you're using your phone 100% of the time on battery. There's ALWAYS idle time.
its been 3 days since i rooted my phone for the first time due to battery life issues. the first day my phone lasted for 10 hours. after a full discharge and full charge I've been experiencing horrible battery life again on medium usage. only getting 6 hours of battery life. what do you guys think would be the cause of this??? everybody is getting better battery life and mine seems to be horrible still. I have never found juggs to be a battery friendly ROM. It's a power ROM. Better for gaming, shooting live video etc. If you want the 15 to 20 hour battery some are getting then switch over to darksides ROM DIGITALWARFARE. It's powerful enough for gaming just not like juggs.
Also usage plays a roll to. If your gaming for 4 stright hours don't expect the phone to last that long because no phone will. Running Juggs with darksides kernal is kinda doesn't mix.

Download 2x battery from the market, it's done wonders for my phone and i use it with any rom i flash. Not to mention i ran that same setup for quite awhile and the maximum time out of a battery i've gotten comes using juggs 5 and v1 darkside kernel.
I'm running Juggernaut 5.0, with Eugene's Streamline kernel. I'm getting about 17hs. I'm also OCD, so I play, and tweak every setting possible. I game a lot, and usually get about 6-8 with that. It depends on a lot of factors though. I agree though, it's kind of an oxymoron to use Darkside kernel with that rom. They kind of clash.....I guess you could say, as far as battery goes anyways. I had the same issue when I used that kernel. Just my experience anyways. There's a lot of setups you could go with, so. Best to just test everything once, till you find your happy place.

what are you using? are you experiencing poor battery life as well?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
Your battery life also depends on a number of other factors as well. Do you have animations on or off? If they are on, turn them off. What brightness is your screen? I turn mine all the way down. How many widgets are you running? I don't use widgets. Is your phone constantly syncing with Facebook, Twitter etc? I only turn my sync on for Gmail and Google. Is your GPS on? I have mine off at all times. Do you stream a lot of music/videos? How many programs do you have running in the background? I make sure everything is closed or off except for the programs that need to be on. If I need to use a program/app I will open it, I don't need it constantly running shortening my battery life. Etc Etc.
I also recommend using the app Juice Defender. Yes it runs in the background at all times, but, it greatly improves battery life. I use it all the time and it's fantastic.
I typically have my phone on for 15-17hrs a day and by the time I go to bed I still have over 50% battery left. I am currently just on a stock ROM and not Juggs, but my results with Juggs were around the same as well, even with the Darkside Kernel. Peace

+1 I don't use juice defender on my device since I am happy with the battery life I get so far. However, I have Juice Defender on my wife's SGS2 with custom settings and her battery life has improved a lot. Before her phone would only last 10-12 hours with moderate use. Now she gets over 20 hours with the same usage.

I'm using jb's radio baseband and stock kernel, bootloader is la03.
I wan't to know is the battery life ok, or is it draining little bit too fast..

I'm new to Android. I made a few posts on here making that abundantly clear (lol). I am just wondering, what exact part of the OS is the kernel? For example, I'm using LiquidSmooth with the default kernel that was included with that. If I were to flash the ktoonsez kernel, what changes would I see? Also, could someone point me to a site where I can download the KT kernel for LiquidSmooth 4.2.1 JellyBean Beta 2? What other kernels are there? What are the advantages of using them? And finally, where can I find them?
I'm looking for a way to conserve battery life right now, but not take away from how my phone currently looks. Sorry for asking such a stupid set of questions, but I'd like to know about this since I plan on sticking with Android. And if that's the case, I wanna learn all about the neat things I can do to make my phone customized, sleek looking, and effective.
Thanks in advance for helping out this new comer to the Android scene
The kernel is the interface between the devices software and hardware. Its basically a bundle of drivers and code to tell the hardware and software how to communicate. All computers use a kernel from windoze to OSux and Linux. Android is based around a modified version of the Linux kernel. You won't see any visual changes when you flash a kernel. And you can find em here in the development or original development sub forums
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Cool thanks for the detailed explanation. I never really took the time to look up the exact purpose of kernels in an OS but you just explained it to me perfectly.
So, are there any kernels that are better for say battery conservation and performance?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
That all depends on your settings and usage. Theres no one way to get the best battery and performance for your usage, mostly just trial and error trying out different settings and tweaks til you find what works for you. For a good battery performance balance undervolting and overclocking work well. For instance I'm on a note 2 and im overclocked to 1.8ghz and undervolted by 75mv across the board and get almost identical battery to stock, however I still gain in performance without sacrificing battery. Now if I drop my clock rate back to stock and keep the undervolting I get same performance as on stock but my battery life increases by a few hours.

I can't seem to see your thumbnail. Do I have to enable an option in the settings to view thumbnails?
And thanks for all the replies guys, I appreciate the input

Not that I know of...total batt time 1 day 10 hours. Screen on time 3 hours 45 minutes with about 15% left.

1 day and 10 hours?! Wow! I'm lucky if I get 8-9 hours. I am going to start disabling WiFi when I am walking around though. I just flashed over to the KT kernel and I am going to try optimizing my settings with the ones that were in that Kernelizers thread.

Check out DS Battery Saver Pro. Handles WiFi disabling for you...less bloat than Juice defender. Screen filter helps with screen brightness...and I am undervolted pretty good too. Good luck! I am now at 1d 12 hr. 4:44 screen on. 2% batt left!

Awesome, installed the KT kernel and used the settings listed in the Kernelizers thread. I also installed DS Battery Saver Pro and now my battery life is amazing. Left my house at 7:05AM this morning and on my way to work over the course of the hour my battery dropped 3%. Usually, my battery would drop 10% - 15% during this time so I am VERY happy with the outcome.
Thanks for all the help guys

Glad it worked out! Did you undervolt yet...more battery savings there too...and very little drop in performance.
