So I just picked up a sprint galaxy nexus and so far I like it...Kinda wondering why i keep getting a notification that chrome has a update but it fails to install. I have tried clearing the data for the market and chrome app. I have even did a ODIN restor back to stock to try to backup my google wallet so I could use it even tho I was rooted. (unsucessful). Anyone have anyone else seen this?

and did you try uninstall/reinstall chrome?
No I have not changed the density. And it won't let me uninstall it came preinstalled. Force stop and disable are the only options available for it

Anyone have any other ideas? I had this issue by the time I got home with the phone before I even had a chance to mess with it lol. I left and it started the JB update after that some apps updated but chrome failed. I played around a bit and ignored it..But then after doing rooting and unlocked boot loader it tried doing the update again and failed. Then I was messing around with google wallet and relized I needed to setup pre-root and odin'd back to stock and again after that the chrome update failed...still not sure which browser going to use as primary but it seems very weird. other than Root/boot loader and nova launcher I have not done anything to the phone.
why do you keep using odin?
use fastboot, it's the officially supported tool, even Google uses and has tutorials on it.
if you have CWM installed, then the official update will NOT work when started from android os.
that said, if you have root access, you can just remount /system to rw and uninstall/delete chrome apk from /system/app.

I did try fastboot's restore the first time but it just went to the dead (or whatever) android guy so I looked on the forums and saw a thread with a sticky about removing root/going back to stock so just did that and it showed odin. Thanks for the suggestion I will give it a try later when I have a few spare mins to play.

Hi guys I rooted my desire using the live cd method, powered up my phone before installing a2sd and I could see all of my download history on the market with access to all apps. After this I booted into recovery using step2 on the live cd and installed A2SD. When I turned the phone on again all of the download history was gone and I can't see apps like Google Earth, National Rail etc.
I thought I did something wrong so I wiped the device and installed the rooted rom update again with a2sd at the same time. The problem still exists and nothing has changed.
Could you please help me because this is very annoying and I cant set up my phone the I want until this is resolved.
Very strange... Use Market enabler > http://market-enabler.googlecode.com/files/MarketEnabler_latest.html
install, apply new settings and reboot, problem solved
Thanks for the suggestion but the market enabler doesn't solve it, I tried it.
Another strange thing that I found is I have an .apk of CoPilot which I was using before rooting and when I tried installing it now it gives me an error "Application not installed".
I still haven't solved this problem and its really bugging me.
I un-rooted my phone and used a different google account with no luck. I still don't see some applications in the market.
Just to let you know I am in the UK using a generic sim free desire on 3 network. Could you please, please, please help me out. I am running out of options and I thought unrooting would fix it.
Weird issue you are describing. As far as I know it depends on the fingerprint of the build.prop in the ROM (and if Google added it to the white list(?)) or not.
Many people are using the rooted ROM (all the same build.prop) and they can access protected apps just fine. So probably the problem lies elsewhere.
I have a similar problem, before I rooted my device I could see all apps I bought in my g1 days. After I rooted first of all none showed up, after a day or so only a few showed up... rebooted a few more times (only ever flashed once using Windows with apps2sd) now I have a few I had before show up not all just a few and thats how its been since. weird. I had half results :/

Same problem here with one single application.
Had SlideIT paid version installed on stock firmware.
Once i rooted it gave me the message "application not installed" once i tried to install it.
Funny enough the SlideIT lite version is still able to install fine.
Definitely want it to work again, so i hope someone knows how to fix it
I tried a couple of different ROMs today and had this same problem, clicking My Downloads would just show a blank screen, and there was no "Top Paid Apps" tab. I tried unrooting, rerooting, nothing fixed it, until I found this;
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=1ea082d443f3d16c&hl=en
Pushing that xml file (note the spelling mistake before you do it) fixed it all back up, no idea what caused it to get all messed up and why it wasn't fixed by wiping and reflashing.

I tried to push the file via adb shell in windows and got permission denied. Am I doing it right or do I need to root the phone again to be able to push that file because I have reverted back to the generic stock rom?
Mine was rooted when I pushed it, try re-rooting it and pushing it again I guess.
I finally got around to re-rooting it and tried your solution with pushing that file but no change to my market
Just to be clear I can see the Top Paid apps tab, but I cant access copy protected apps like Google Earth.
The android market just gives me that striped animation anytime I try downloading an app. Have tried clearing the market cache, google framework service cache nothing seems to work! Just the new EU firmware OTA and rooted and removed the bloat apps and downloaded script manager from the market without any problems. Then tried to download a busybox app...thats when the market just stuck on the stripped animation and its been that way with everything else I've tried from the market incuding updates to my apps. Please any help guys??

Done a restart ?
If it does not help: Because you are rooted, you should be able to delete the Android Market. You can get the AndroidMarket.apk from the net and reinstall it(Unknown Sources have to be checked). But before doing something fancy, you should do a BACKUP, with CWM or RZR.

Yeah several restarts. Just got an update, it appears the youtube app also gets stuck with the rotating circle...cant load the video. Cant help but assume these are related. And also I've tried this on both wifi and 3G, same.

This is strange indeed. If even the solution above doesn't help, I would recommend you to flash you ROM via ODIN. Usually it should replace the missing files, so this could work. Do a Backup as mentioned above.
BTW: But generally your internet works? (via Browser)

Yes my internet works fine. I actually cant do anything requiring a usb cable since I lost mine and wont be getting a new one till the weekend maybe. I actually tried some other things like clearing the cache partition in recovery (stock) and logging out of gTalk and relogging in which solved similar problems for people online. Just seems everything is fine...except the market cant connect and download stuff, and youtube cant connect and load videos...I feel its a google account problem surely but dont have a clue what to do. Thanks for your response all the same.
First......Ensure SD Card is properly seated, open phone and make sure of this!!!
Do these :
Settings/Applications/Manage
Applications/All/
Downloads/Clear Data.
Media Storage/Clear Data....

I cant quite explain what happened, but I fixed it. It had to do with a botched backup/uninstall of google books with TB. I tried to back it up but it seemed to just hang up. Then I killed TB in the Task Manager and restarted it. I realised a backup had been made for the older version(1.46) instead of the new version(1.52). Google Books showed up as a system app after my last FW upgrade and I updated it (through the market) but the update made the app unusable(FC everytime I start it). I ignored all that at the time since I didnt use it actually. Tried to remove it yesterday and I guess that set this whole mess in motion. Thanks to all
I was booting up for the first time after a wipe, finished the setup and all my apps were auto installing over wifi. Well my power went out in the middle of all the apps downloading,so an error appeared for each app in my status bar.
Manually I could start each installation one by one. All good. But adobe flash player was one of the apps that got interrupted. I've obviously had it installed constantly thru ICS. Well immediately the market won't let the download continue for flash because it got interrupted. Even though it was just installing 30 seconds ago. Says my device is not compatible. Is the market that glitchy where I'm not out of the loop of existing users allowed to continue using flash? It took a simple power outage failed download and the market can't remember I should have flash installed?
I'm annoyed cause I wanted to keep flash officially in my app install list.

Maybe try pulling the flash related apk from a back up, then push to your /system/app folder then fix permissions then use titanium back up to restore market link

Seems as if Adobe has pulled the Flash player out of Play Store earlier then the said august 15th date...
Can't find Flash player on the play store thru search (on a Gnex which doesn't have it installed).
On my phone, which does have it installed, says my device 'isn't compatible with this app' when I go into the Play store and look it up. If you'd like, I could attach the .apk file here..
EDIT: Attached Adobe Flash Player 11 apk

I don't think you can search for Flash on a Gnex since it's not supported. Try browsing to play.Google.com from your desktop. But even if you find it you may not be able to push it to your device.

Hmm, that's strange. Seems your right, but I HAD previously installed it on my Gnex... and flash is working in any case. Maybe it's JB, since it's not supported, it won't show up in the app store?

If you copy the url of the app from your desktop/play store and open it through market on your device, it will say unsupported.
Forget flash. Use html5, it's way better.

Thanks. Yeah this is some kind of bug, Google should be made aware of it. Frustrating.
So, a few weeks ago I flashed freeza's Sprint Touchwiz Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (L710VPBLJ7) Odex from ICS. It's been running beautifully without issue. I was able to install this ROM after installing ClockworkMod without issue since I was running a stock, but rooted version of ICS.
It wasn't until today I noticed that I can't perform a lot of tasks that require root
Apps that run:
- WiFi Tether: Launches without error, but I no longer see the SSID that was visible when I was still on ICS. Can't see it on laptops, tablets, etc.
- Root Explorer launches: I tap Mount R/W and nothing happens. No errors about not being rooted.
- File Explorer: I tap Root Explorer and get a message saying "Root explorer cannot be enabled. Make sure your device is rooted." (see screen shot)
- Super User: It shows lots of logs giving root access to various apps. I tried updating the binaries, but it fails (see screen shot).
I've attached a bunch of screen shots to see if it helps you guys figure anything out.
I'd appreciate your feedback.
Thanks!
Try installing SuperSU from the Playstore and uninstalling the regular SU app.

Are you using the TrevE modified version of WiFi Tether? The other one will not work on this rom (while it did on ICS).

No bueno. I tried updating the binaries in SuperSU and it failed.
I can't uninstall the regular super user app. I originally rooted my phone using TeamEpic's method, so I believe it it came with that.
If all else fails do a clean install

I installed the version directly from the dev's website: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/. I'll try one of the experimental versions.
Still, root access from a lot of other programs are not possible.
Is there a way to re-root this rom?
Thanks!
EDIT: I installed the latest beta listed on the link and installed the latest experimental version. That one turned out to be the TrevE modified version that you mentioned. This time, the beacon was visible to my laptop and tablet, but they could not connect to the phone.
I uninstalled and went back to 3.1 beta 14. I set the profile to the SIII and launched it. It failed the first time. Close the app, re-launched, and the tethering started without error. Again, back to not seeing the beacon.
This one is a definite head scratcher.
mikeregister: Obviously wiping and starting over would probably work, but that's not how troubleshooting works.
Thought I'd share an update...
I came across the below thread. I installed the version mentioned and WiFi tethering once again works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34038908
Now, onto the matter of re-rooting to see if that fixes things.
Let me know if you guys have any ideas.
I ran across the SU failed to update a couple times on my photon, there is an SU update fixer in the playstore that you can run and it fixes that issue, if you're still running into it after you attempt to re-root.

I tried the SU fixer.
It said no problems were found. I checked the "force" button and when I attempt the fix, the app crashes. I can't get a screenshot while it's attempting to fix to post the results.
Find the CMteam root package, and flash that in cwm/twrp. This gives you superuser, but fixes root, then you can install supersu if you want.

I would start here, this zip will clean out any binary remnants and all that, you will then need to flash TWRP if you want that for recovery.

That's the zip I used to originally root my phone when it was still running ICS.
I re-ran it yesterday to see if it would fix anything, but it didn't. After the phone re-booted, the OS began the Optimizing app xx of xx process, but it didn't fix anything. WiFi tether runs without errors, but Root Explorer and File Manager with root say my phone is not rooted. I confirmed it's rooted via Root Checker again.
Just to make sure, are you referring to TeamEpic-Root-from-Recovery-v5.zip? That's what I ran on ICS and re-ran yesterday.
What's your take on flashing TeamEpic-RemoveRoot-from-Recovery-signed.zip and then re-rooting with the link you referenced?
Im about to search for the file im talking about, if you have twrp, you will still have twrp after...
Well ths file link posted for epicteam root v5 was the file, should work 100%.

I took my GNex in the evening from the Assistance Center where they changed my broken MicroUSB port.
They flashed on it 4.0.4 ICS and they unlocked the bootloader.
I update the system with OTA to 4.3 stock.
In order to try the Xposed Framework I used the Toolkit to take root access.
Then, connecting my Google account, when Play Store started to install all of my apps it prompted out an infinite list of error:
first (403)
then (920)
Flashed two times 4.3 stock via Toolkit, locked and unlocked, rooted and unrooted but... nothing.
Also tried to delete my account, delete play store data, delete framework data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik... nothing works.
Phone is uselss in this way... so if anyone has figured out what to do, please let me know.

I seem to have the same problem. I can't update nor download apps from the play store because I keep getting 403 errors.
Everything was fine until I flashed CM REMIX rom. That's when I started getting the errors. However nobody is complaining about anything like this on their thread. I've also tried using different gapps packages.
Could it be a server side thing? My other devices seem to be working fine on the same network...
