Good evening all.
Sorry if this is a stupid noob question....
I want to go back to stock because I have a little yellow spot on my screen so I can send it for repair.
I am rooted but with stock-rom, nothing changed and with Nandroidbackup.
And maybe I want an official JB update..
Thnx....

Download the correct RUU, if it's not the correct one, you could brick your phone. But if you're on stock, just do:
fastboot oem lock
But if the phone doesn't boot, then do fastboot oem lock, then run the ruu. Btw there are MANY detailed threads, just search, you'll find more info

what exactly means "you can't"? Do you get an error?
As far as I remember out of my not yet full functional RAM you must include the correct android-info.txt (but you probably already know that...?)

if you want just to change the splash screen and your phone is S-OFF and rooted it is simple just download android flasher and plug your USB and choose your favorite image as splash screen or favorite boot animation for your phone.before that don't forget to turn usb debugging on.

okay heres the deal my phone has been acting up alot... and the other day i swapped batteries and at that my phone refused to do anything past the htc splash screen, ive even ran every ruu file that i could find and to no avail so i am now having to send the phone in for repair, Problem is i have the s-off bootloader from revolutionary and i cant load into the rom to change my mainver and downgrade so
My Question is "is there anything i can do using fastboot commands to either downgrade the bootloader or make the phone a complete brick so that i can get the warranty repair done?"
You can do an OEM boot loader re-lock.
Android, the open source do whatever you want OS.

Well, bricking it would be easy, flash a radio and pull the cord in the middle of it, or just smash it . Check out the return to s-on guide, that might work for you.

Use search and you'll find your answer.
But you have a few alternatives also:
- Flash another custom ROM
- Restore a backup
Search and you'll find an answer to how to do these.
Please tell me you understood everything before unlocking the bootloader.
Just remember that your phone is not dead, only time that it's dead is if you can't turn it on at all.
i know what it feels like man... im stuck with pretty much the same problem but im still not clear how to flash the boot.img to start the phone
Why did you open 2 threads with the exact same question? Maybe it was an accident, anyway see the link I posted in your other thread.

Hit thanks if I helped
Hey XDA community,
i have recently rooted my HTC Desire 816/Virgin mobile
Currently running stock ROM
Adroid version: 4.4.2
HTC Sense version: 6.0
Software Version: 1.13.652.1
I keep getting the software update pop up for version 1.50.652.3 which i previously had before rooting
as i try update it the update is aborted
Is there anyway that i can update it and also keep my root access?
Ive tried many different ROMs although most of them seem to be inefficient as either the calling, data, or text messaging doesn't work, i would rather stick to the stock ROM until fully functional ROMs are out there.
only thing your suppose to do is just install the root, relock bootloader and flash recovery hope will work won't get aborted.....

Open SuperSU and choose unroot, flash the stock recovery, relock the bootloader and then take the update.
Then re-root the same way you did the first time.

Google, and Google.
Edit: Sorry I don't mean to be biased, Bing is also an option.

I was simply telling them to use Google, I don't see were anything rude was said in that post. It was only 3 words, and 2 of them were Google...
But just because this is a Q&A thread, doesn't mean they should disregard any other way of getting information themselves.
Why should someone else have to take time out if there day to get the link, and give it to this person, when as I said, they can Google it.
But with that being said, I'm sorry you saw rudeness in those 3 words, next time I'll try to be more considerate.

Please can someone just tell me how I can get back to the stock rom and reset phone fully as if it was almost straight out of the box.
Sure, just run that file and all will be good.

Hook up to your PC and post the readout from fastboot getvar all here.
Edit out your IMEI and serial# for your own protection. Those are both private information that should never be shared on a public forum.
