I am S-Off and rooted with a custom rom.
Please can someone just tell me how I can get back to the stock rom and reset phone fully as if it was almost straight out of the box.
Sure, just run that file and all will be good.

Hook up to your PC and post the readout from fastboot getvar all here.
Edit out your IMEI and serial# for your own protection. Those are both private information that should never be shared on a public forum.

Good evening all.
Sorry if this is a stupid noob question....
I want to go back to stock because I have a little yellow spot on my screen so I can send it for repair.
I am rooted but with stock-rom, nothing changed and with Nandroidbackup.
And maybe I want an official JB update..
Thnx....

Download the correct RUU, if it's not the correct one, you could brick your phone. But if you're on stock, just do:
fastboot oem lock
But if the phone doesn't boot, then do fastboot oem lock, then run the ruu. Btw there are MANY detailed threads, just search, you'll find more info

hello,
First of all I want to mention I am throughly confused because there are tons of threads out here.
I have a H3G Uk DHD and unlocked the boot loader.
I have been trying to follow this gude in vain.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500
I am stuck at step 7 where it says Go to recovery advanced options and reboot recovery... I cant understand what it means.
So i figured it was to do something with htc fast boot. got the fast boot files and try to do a fastbook flash boot boot.img
But it just sits there saying waiting for device though it is connected.
I even tried putting pd98img.zip in the memory card and rebooting in recovery but it says cant find or wrong image.
Can someone please help? i am so tired of this
What do you mean step 7?
This one? "Reboot into bootloader again and plug the phone to the PC."
If so, try universal adb driver if you are in fastboot mode and your phone isn't recognized.
How to get into the fastboot menu is not your problem right? If it is, then switch off the phone,
hold vol down and press and hold power, release power and you should see the bootloader in hboot, where you can choose the fastboot mode.
Hope it helps.
Thanks for the reply. There is a pdf guide in that thread.
When I reboot, all I see is HBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET AND SIMLOCK I think. If
I cant seem to find fastboot mode.
Are there other ways to install pd98img? Whats this gold card thing? I created a gold card and placed pd98img.zip in the root of the card. It still wont install. Any pointers?

Which HBOOT version? You can find that in bootloader. Here I have 2.00.0029 with entries
fastboot, recovery, factory reset, simlock, image crc.
the HBOOT

Hi,
I'm in need of updating my HBOOT version from 2.00.0027 to 2.00.0029 in order to unlock my bootloader. Could you please refer me to the download link to get the respective file?

Haha! I actually did some research for a week and officially found the word from developers that 0027 has a bootloader that cannot be unlocked. One has to upgrade it to 0029.i exactly did that and it worked! I'm on CM11 now.
I just thought that maybe you know some other alternative solution that i might not be aware of at the moment.
Um..mine was 0027 and it worked just fine

Do i need to delete my old recovery ( clockwork mod) or do anything to that recovery before flashing this one?
Your best bet is to flash that mod twrp. If it fails,I suggest u flash that ruu
---------- Post added at 02:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:03 AM ----------
What I mean is...flash that recovery then reflash your ROM. If u still get reboots, just flash that ruu...I don't think a certain recovery will interfere with flashing an ruu

But your bootloader must be locked. You will have to unlock bootloader again after running this ruu..this ruu can be ran if all other things have failed. Its kind of like a factory reset to make your phone start all over

can someone help me i cant boot into recovery, and apps are still FCing.
Symptoms:
-Unable to boot into recovery/bootloader
-Force closes system app or installed apps
-Stored settings changes on reboots
-Random reboots while phone is idle
-Constant reboots while restarting it and doesn't know when it will boot normally.
All above mention symptoms are related to HARDWARE FAILURE! Bare in mind that not all of them you'll see it on your device. But any of one you face, will might probably having chance of hardware failure.
You or here on xda users can't resolve your issue. So don't try anything from now on wards. Use it as is. Or sell it and move to another device.
Unless you have some local cheap repair shops where they might evaluate the issue then fix it that way, rather than calling into HTC service center.
And i forgot to mention, you probably have question in mind, How i know? My device is dying too. It reboots constantly before it boots normally, though it works fine. So symptom may vary device to device but cause is the same.

being a little bit stupid rebooted the phone. which now can not start.
Is there anything i can do. I have copied the backups from the sd card to the computer but do not know what to do with them.

Shouldn't matter as long as you can reflash the firmware back on the phone... Any changes will be rendered moot as the whole firmware is re-installed, not just the stuff you didn't change...

HI
First of all thanks for helping. How do you flash the phone as only a novice at this.
This is a running ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML v 5.0. The phone is rooted and i made backups onto the sd card
but do not know how to reverse the operation.

Why leave XDA? Here's all the info needed in one thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596
You can also get the latest pre-rooted firmware, sorry 2.20.40.63 not 40.90, from the pre-rooted firmware thread in Original Android Developement...
It's the same end result, xda thread ultimately finished up at chinaphonearena site, it is shakalaka who compiled the roms, so either is a good choice.

I'm copying and pasting the steps below from another thread in this forum and hopefully users here can help other users with any issues, questions, etc. I mean, that's what this 'community' is for, right ?
Remove volte from account (If already enabled)
Then latest ruu and factory reset
fastboot erase modem_st1
fastboot erase modem_st2
Then reboot and try volte activation

Thank you for reposting this. So we need to figure out how to remove VoLTE/advance calling off of your account as a feature than figure out if we can just flash custom stock ruu rather than just going completely back to stock. Maybe @dottat or anybody can shed some more light that has done this.
