Xperia ARC stuck in boot loop - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone.
I'm very new to rooting so I apologize in advance for any newb-ness. I've tried looking at all the threads that have boot loops and from what I can tell, my situation does not match any of those people. I decided that I wanted to install Jelly Sandwich onto my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc (LT15i) and I went about it as follows:
-Rooted my phone using Doomlord v4
-Installed CWM Recovery using X-Parts
-Booted into recovery and created a backup of my stock rom
-Put Jelly Sandwich files on my SD card
-Booted into recovery again and did the wipe data/factory reset option, wipe cache partition, advanced/wipe Delvik cache
-Clicked install zip from SD card and then followed the Jelly Sandwich installation instructions. At this stage, the installation went smoothly and it said that it had been done successfully.
-Tried to reboot and got stuck in the reboot loop
-Following the advice from the Jelly Sandwich thread, I used flashtool to flash stock Sony ICS firmware - 4.1.B.0.587 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836993)
-At this stage, I'm still stuck in the reboot loop and I can't access CWM recovery (used to do it by clicking on vol. down button during startup, but this doesn't work anymore)
My boot loader is still locked now. I tried to unlock it following these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034087 but my IMEI no. was 15 digits instead of 14 so the Sony website didnt send me a code.
I'm kind of at a loss as to what I should try next. Any advice is welcome

First question: bootloop or bootlogo(i think you mean this) ?
you have to wipe everything for installing jelly sandwich with a locked bootloader
flash .587, root the device, and install cwm with flashtool (you can also use x-parts)
report when it's working

Ok, progress. I was indeed meant to be referring to bootlogo and it turned out that flashing to the stock firmware was the fix needed. The reason it didn't work before is that I had selected the option to exclude the kernel when flashing the firmware, based on the instructions on the jelly sandwich page. Once I stopped clicking on this option, it all worked perfectly and I'm now on stock ICS. I'm just installing more ADB drivers and getting ready to go for round 2 of rooting. Let's hope that things go smoother this time round.

Here's an excellent thread with good references: - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
(There's a link there that should help with the unlocking of the bootloader too.)
Here's one of the links on the above thread titled "Root 4.0.4 ics {Arc lt15i} LOCKED BOOTLOADERS": - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683189
Good luck

I have already tried installing this ROM (JS 6.0/6.1) five times already and all I get is bootlogo and nothing else.
Does anyone have suggestions how to flash JS on locked bootloader. I have already tried all the instructions given on the thread

you can try mount system then format system(but careful not to accidentally click reboot recovery)
That's how I did to finally install the 6.2 over my locked bootloader LT18i.

Markphytons ICS 4.0.4 not booting

I am having trouble installing Markphytons ICS 4.0.4 on my device.
I have a Canada r800a Locked Bootloader
I have followed the instructions included here( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762372 )
Everything works well it is actually the rom i am using for now.
My problem is when i flash MarkphytonsFinal_ICS.zip from my CWM everything seems to go fine then i reboot and get stuck at the SONY boot logo forever, does not loop and i have to remove battery to make it stop and flash a new ftf from flashtool to gain any access to my phone.
Am i doing something wrong or can this simply not be installed on r800a?
......... sorry
I dont think custom rom specially ics is available for xplay under att or verizon, but if it is i have a small tip to make it work, this usually works r800i, and this happened to me before.
The way to make it work is by accessing the right recovery. So download Lupus Kernel "the Linaro v4 or above" flash the kernel and access recovery by pressing the back button.
From there on just wipe and factory then install markpythons rom.
Before the standard recovery is causing me bootloops too, but as soon as i got rid of the blue/standard recovery and got red one or the dooms, i was able to flash ics roms.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
I am making progress after a lot of trial and error i have successfully flash and booted the rom on my locked r800a.
More updates later if it works well with stock Neo L kernel
Booted everything up fine but i cannot reinstall CWM recovery because i cannot properly mount /system as writable.
If anyone with locked bootloader is willing to try here is what i did:
1. Flash stock 2.3.4 image, i used R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Enhanced.ftf
2. Turn it on so you can have usb debugging/MSC connection mode
3. Root it using your favorite method -flashtool works easily
4. Install CWM recovery
5. Flash R800i_4.1.B.0.479_Kernel.ftf
6. Factory reset/Data wipe+Clear cache+Clear Dalvik cache+Format /system
Formatting /system is what made it run for me else i was stuck at sony logo
7. Install MarkphytonsFinal_ICS.zip
If anyone can reinstall CWM after they reboot in this version please post how as i am stumped.
Cant apply update or stock wifi modules so i am trying a different rom next.

[Q] Jelly Sandwich 5.0 boot loop

So, I could finally install Jelly Sandwich, and went past the SONY logo freeze, then bumped into a boot loop.
All the phone does now, is boot, shows lock screen, notification of "Preparing SD card" shows, then suddenly screen fades, and SONY logo....etc.
Anyway, here's the info I have.
Xperia arc
Rooted with OneClick exploit
Bootloader "locked"
cwm from x-parts didn't work, so copied recovery.tar into /system as described in one of the forums.
Before install I format /system
I clear dalvic cache, clear system/factory reset again...
Then I install!
It says all successful, but goes into boot loop!
Any suggestions?
What FW are you using?

.431??? I had original .587 from PC Companion, then reading the forums, to root I had to flash .431, then flash back the .587 kernel which never showed later that I have .587

Use flashtool to flash official Sony. 587 then use fastboot to flash your kernel again I'm using xarc 2.0 its seems quite good so far then you can flash jellysandwich again
Your bootloop should now be eliminated

hmmmmmmmmmm!
I'll give it a try...but will keep it with stock kernel, don't want to unlock BL.
Thanks
aghhhhhh!!
Same thing!
Don't bother....giving up on custom roms...I was only trying with the arc...I gave it up already, using my sgs3
Thanks anyway
Too bad.
At the time you start installing new kernel and rom, you became kind of addicted.
Same LT18i unlock bl stock ics kernel but struck at sony screen, did factory reset/clear cache/dalvik after install, had to remove battery.
In the end had to reflash stock rom & start all over.
Hi have the same problem but i have Xperia NEO

HELP! My Xperia Arc is stuck at CM9 startup screen?

Hey guys,
I was flashing CM9 Nightly onto my xperia arc and it just got stuck at loading with the CM9 guy and the blue matrix animation screen?
I followed this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdxtOMS4jr0
I did flashed it fresh from rooting and unlocking bootloader since this is my first time doing this.
I started with flashing an older android version, then I rooted it and OTA update to later version (maintaining root)...then i unlocked bootloader and followed the tutorial i posted above. All was well until it rebooted.
Any help appreciated, thanks.
Try to wipe your phone in Clockworkmod Recovery and delete everything. Then.. Install CM9 again.
Don't forget to flash the Cyanogenmod kernel also through flashtool..
Have you tried flashing a stock .ftf file using Flashtool?
Have you wiped everything? No. Have you flashed FXP kernel? No, you have locked bootloader xD
Hey guys, I fixed it.
I took my battery out, rebooted and went to the CM9 menu (press volume down button a few times while on xperia free screen)...then I reinstalled the zip file and before rebooting again; I wiped out cache and factory reset (they are options below the reboot option). It rebooted and started up fine.

[Q] LT15i bricked: how to get into CWM??

Good morning,
Yesterday, I tried to unlock and root my friend's Xperia Arc (LT15i). Although it was running FW .62, I did manage to unlock the bootloader and root the phone. I installed CWM, emptied the phone (I thought) and installed the Xperia Ultimate HD ROM.
Unfortunately, I think I forgot a detail. I wiped data/factory reset, cache and Dalvik, but after the installation of the ROM completed succesfully, rebooting the phone keeps it hanging at the Sony Ericsson logo. It seems to be hanging right at that moment, because the problem is that when I then press the Vol.Down button, I'm not getting back into CWM.
I tried to use the "Unbrick" option to flash an original .ftf file via Flashtool, but then I get the "Error in processHeader: 1 Incorrect function".
Can anybody give me a clue on how to:
a) get into CWM
or
b) restore the phone so I can try again
Thanks a lot in advance!
PS: is there a way to get in the bootloader and go to CWM from there? It all seems to be so much more difficult then on my own Nexus S

FW .62 is gingerbread ROM and UHD is ICS ROM.I think you forgot to install ICS kernel. Use the suggested lupus kernel for UHD or any other ICS kernel in Fastboot mod or using flash tool then you can boot into ICS.

Oh crap, I didn't even think about that I figured it would be implemented in the ROM. Thanks a lot, I'll try that right away when I get home! :good:

Flashing ROM doesn't flash kernel. You need to flash kernel if you are flashing different version of ROM like Gb,ICS,JB. Flash kernel, then go to CWM and flash ROM zip.

Xperia Arc Stuck in Loading

Hey guys! Today I rooted my device, installed CWM and installed a ROM onto my Arc device today. It all went fine but when I rebooted after the install the device seems to be stuck at the "Sony" logo. I cant seem to boot it into CWM (tried it couple of times). I'm new to this so does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance
Did you unlock the bootloader? Flashed the right kernel? Explain a bit what did you flash and how.

I'm kinda new to this and I just did what the guide told me to do , which is the following:
For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial, than install CWM using this app
Place ROM on SD-Card
Back up user apps and data. (Various apps available, search Google Play. This is a popular one)
Power off phone.
Boot to CWM (Keep pressing the Volume Down key after the Sony logo appears)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Mounts and Storage --> Format /System
Advanced > Wipe Battery Stats
Install zip from SD card > Choose Xperia Ultimate HD
Follow on screen instructions on AROMA.
After Complete Installation untick "reboot" and select reboot in CWM
Give the phone a good full charge, and enjoy your brand new phone!
Okay I suppose you flashed this rom and installed it with aroma installer. And you can't boot into recovery mode when logo appears (by pressing vol down button?)
Argh I had the same problem when using different rom with aroma installer and I couldn't boot in recovery mode. The main problem was not getting into cwm so I had to flash the stock rom (ftf file) back on arc using flashtool and I rooted the phone and unlocked BL again. Then I restored the previous backed up rom.
Is there any particular reason to have locked BL? You can do it with flashtool.
I don't know what the problem would be since I don't have enough experience with aroma installers, I just know the basics of flashing, installing and I can solve problems on my own arc when I f*** up something but I'm a bit confused here so you better wait for someone who has more brains than I do.

I just want to put my standard rom on there atm, can you link me to something that tells me how to do that?
Ok, so here's thread with stock, custom roms, kernels etc. here find the stock rom and choose version (lt15i or lt18i depends on which phone you have and where you're from) and download the ftf file.
Then go to this link where you'll get direct instructions on how to flash. It's really not that complicated. Just open flashtool, choose flashmode and browse for the ftf file, then flash it.
Good luck.
If you wish us to help you, at least tell which ROM you installed.
For a locked bootloader, flash the original TFT through Flashtool.
Root.
Install CWM.
Reflash ROM.
If your bootloader is unlocked, just flash a kernel with CWM included.
Mount your SD Card.
Put the ROM on it.
Flash.
Hope I helped you !
Cheers.
