Hi, I recently had a full brick, the phone was completely died. I tried to use a jig, but it didn't work, so I sent my phone to the assistance.
Can you show me the differences between JIG and JTAG?
In your opinion, could it have worked in my instance?

and it's good to have it, or keep it if you already have one
it will come in handy for flashing and resetting stuff, and rescue recovery operations for those Oooops! times
The jig puts the phone into download mode but it does not reset the custom binary counter. Unless this was discovered.
Where is the best place to buy one or if any one has a extra one PM me and im assuming they mean a soft brick correct?

So you have personal experience with it and you're saying when you tried it, it did not work to reset the binary counter?
That's the whole point of the jig, otherwise you can just put it in download mode by holding the buttons, so that's to say the jig doesn't work with T989?
Yes, the jig does not reset the custom binary counter, but does put it into download mode. samsung has patched their bootloader and unless someone finds a way around it wont work with our galaxy s ii
Have you ttied it? I did some research and found this http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-hacks/how-to-make-a-usb-jig-for-your-galaxy-s2/ this article states and has pictures of a custom jig resetting the custom binary/rom counter

i didnt see it either... daddymatt said it worked for his phone and his signature said he posted from a SGH-t989 xda app. so i wonder where he got his from.
I haven't tried it and know it doesn't state our model, but if the sprint and att version are all made by Samsung, shouldn't it theoretically work on ours.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
ours is different then both of those due to processor and other things so im thinking it wouldnt but im not sure???
the sprint and att version both come with 2.3.4 correct? and ours came with 2.3.5? maybe there was a patch for the jig in the update?
Sorry guys, didn't realize there was a question. I ordered mine from Amazon about 6 months ago... looks like any other I have seen with no distinguishing marks just a tiny black box the same size as the microusb male end... hum, ill see if I can track down the vendor I purchased it from.

Where did you guys get instructions on making them? Could you post some? If not I'll make an instructional.
I flashed a new ROM, everything went alright, no error of anykind, when I rebooted the phone, the screen goes black, no vibration of anykind. I already tried taking the battery out and waiting 30 to 60 secs, hitting the power bottom without the battery then putting the battery right in and trying to get into recovery mode.
Everytime i plug the phone into the computer via USB, the computer makes a noise like it recognized the device but then asks me for the "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" drivers. I think i found those, not sure yet... Please help... I can't sent the phone to customer service since i rooted the phone my warranty is void.
Help please.
Bricked take it in play dumb they won't know your rooted its dead. JTAG will fix it 50 bucks I think. Weird it booted and was fine then won't boot. If you take it to T-Mobile play dumb they don't know any better. No wanted damage or cracks they'll replace it. Just call they'll mail one to you.

The issue was that he installed the wrong rom on his device. Happens all the time with the t989. He probably flashed a rom for an i9100. Both devices are marketed as the samsung galaxy s2, which confuses new users.
Try using Odin to flash the stock ROM. can you get it in download mode?
Hi, I was rooting and installing a custom ROM on my fiancee's GS3... And I clicked the wrong version (19300 because they were right next to each other). I ran all the way through the aroma install and it asked me if I wanted an automatic reboot so I said yes. Now the phone won't turn on, go into download mode or anything. When I plug it in, the LED only comes on if the battery is out.
Is there something I can do? Would a jig fix this? Would a local phone repair shop be able to fix it relatively cheaply? I know it's a total n00b mistake but I've rooted about 9 phones before with no problems.
Please help!

Hi
My T989 won't turn on
before it won't turn on , i was on odin , failed on a flash.
from this moment it won't turn on , i pull the battery , put it on charge , tried again same ..

Looks like its hard bricked if Nothing will turn on, only way to fix would be to send it to jtag repairs, or you can wait for this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646310 we are pretty close to unhard bricking both the T989 and T989D we need to find a user with a working T989D

If he or she is unable to do this, a JTAG will have to be done and not everyone has that skill set.
I am not sure if a USB jig would work but it may be worth a try before going the jtag route.

I will no problem.... It should be here Fri/Mon......If I pull the battery and plug the USB jig in I'm hoping it will work. Like I said I get a red light for about 30 seconds like its charging then it goes out, we'll see I guess.
Jig did nothing......I really didn't know a wrong kernel could mess it up so bad. Can a kernel remove the bootloader completely? I am guessing it can. Next step new phone or send it off.
I had thought about trying the sdcard boot method but I'm guessing if the jig didn't work it won't either?
What kernel did you try? I'm freaking out now since I'm going to install a custom ROM on my cousin's s3 lol
