Just picked up my note 2 and can't get the sim card out, I want to see if it's unlocked or not, can anyone help?
If its the same as the S3 you press it in, the same way you would a Micro Sdcard.

Well long story short my girlfriend stuck her nano sim from her iPhone 5 into my phone because her battery was dead and needed to call someone or something... and then in her attempts to get it back out she was shoving pieces of paper up into it. And then she just took the little metal piece off that goes over the top. It broke a few of the little pins off but I bent what was left of them up and the taped my sim in, but I am wanting to have a permanent fix for it so I can switch my sim out at any time if need be without having to tape it on there. Plus if I were to want to trade phones with someone on craigslist I wouldn't want to scam them and say everything was working.. HOW DO I FIX IT?

So your girlfriend broke your phone and you're not making her pay to fix it? Wow, you're a hell of a lot nicer than I would have been in that situation. Definitely let us know how it goes.
Temp lock while I read through this
Thread cleaned. Reopen.
Yes, let us know how it goes and post pics of the process, if you can.
I also broke my SIM slot (within a few minutes of unboxing the phone) trying to remove a self-cut SIM card. That didn't go so well, so I had to get it repaired.
Sent it to Samsung and got it fixed for free. They did a pretty good job and it was super fast. Took them under a week.
But yeah, I sure wish I had a good tutorial to guide me through it. I could have done it myself and not wait.
If it doesn't go well, now you know you have the Samsung repair option.
I broke my sim tray on my galaxy Nexus by using a sim adapter. I sent it in to Samsung and they labled it as BER (beyond economic repair), they wouldn't even fix it with me footing the bill. I ended up buying a new phone (GN2). Hopefully you have better luck then I did! That sucks, hope you are able to fix it!

Wow that really sucks.... I'd be beyond furious but you can take the back a loose if you have the proper tools. Get a replacement tray on ebay or Amazon and watch a how to video on YouTube. A tear down and rebuild video to be more specific.

I may get it repairs from Samsung.. What ballpark should I expect to pay for the repair from Samsung?
I am surprised an Apple user, would think that their sim card would work on anything other than their overload SKyne...Apple told them it work on.
Wondering if anyone else has been having issues.
This is my 2nd micro SD card. They both started reloading itself daily until it showed up as damaged. First one was a samsung, 2nd was a sandisk. Neither one lasted more than a few months.
Quick glance was the first to go. Either it wouldn't display it with a wave or notification light got stuck on with no notification.
face sensor went next. When I make calls and pull my face away, the screen won't come back on, or if it does its rare.
Smart stay no longer defects my face to stay on while reading now.
I'm contemplation on restoring to see if it fixes it, but I highly doubt it since I've been having so many issues. I'm on stock ROM non rooted. Think its time to call up Sammy and get it replaced.

If I remember right, I can call AT&T and get it swapped out locally at one of there centers. I remember doing that for the original note, but can't remember the reason for it. It would be a lot easier than waiting for Sammy to fix it or possibly go without a phone. Last time AT&T just connected it to run a scan to see if its ever been rooted, and bam new phone.

I have the sd card slot scanning problems too... wonder if I should call it in?

Finally ate my 3rd card in 2 months! Even with different roms loaded.
I assume I'll have to flash back to stock and make sure it no longer says modified before trying to get a replacement.

My sim card doesn't pop out when pushing forward on the card, so doesn't have that spring to it. I noticed the kid selling me the phone was trying to put the sim card where the memory card goes. I have to use tweezers to remove the card, this can't be right.

Mine doesn't pop out either neither does sd card. I guess that's the way these are built. Not like the note 2

They redid it to make it tighter.less chance of sim or sd moving

Yeah, when putting in my sim and sd card, I didn't notice any spring load thing. It just simply slid in.

This. I never have to take the sim card out of my phone unless I buy a new phone. Since I'm not fortunate enough to buy a new phone every week, then the sim isn't much of a concern.
However, I am a little bummed about the SD card slot not being spring loaded. I do take that out every so often to transfer transfer things to it. Maybe the USB 3.0 connection will help with that. It might make up for the fact that MTP is so slow.

I thought I was the only one! my sim card just wouldn't come out and the only way I could get it out was to use a threading needle to nudge it out slightly, then slightly "stab" and pull it out. I thought I had a defective device and it only bothered me knowing that if I were to ever sell it, I would have a defective feature to list.
I never take my aim out anyways

It was the same thing with the Note 2. A pencil eraser will side it right out.

It's actually for replacing the S-Pen tip, but if it also helps you take out the SIM card then that's just an added bonus
