[Q] Can't receive MMS while on WiFi - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Just like the title says. I'm using Wicked's V.5 with UVLI8. I've looked at other threads with other devices and I've seen no resolution.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

have you ever been able too? b'c on past phones while on wifi the mobile network would kick in to let the mms go Thru or come in then go back to wifi when it was done

Check if wifi calling is on. If it is turn it off and it should work.

Seems like a work-around. I'll test, but still, it's a pain to have to turn wi-fi calling off and on to receive a MMS. Why wouldn't I just turn of wi-fi for the moment till the MMS comes thru?

You can do that too. But for many its good enough to be a fix... If you're like me and don't use wifi calling.
I know it sucks, but at least you'll know what's causing it. Maybe if enough people complain they'll fix it.
I've heard some 3rd party apps allow mms to send over wifi and therefore will work with wifi calling.
Tmobile only allows mms to send over data connection.

Are you sure? I get pix all the time at home and I'm showing 100% without signal. 0 bars but still the triangle. This is with Wi-Fi calling always on. Stock and xquizit.
Sometimes I do get the "data roaming" lost connection bs and lose Wi-Fi calling.

Well, I was sure until I read your post! :what: lol
I guess it could very well be that it was fixed with UVALH2 and i forgot. Maybe I just need to go to sleep!
Ive forgotten more than I'll ever know!

Similar thing happens to me. Wifi get stuck or conflict with Data signal.
I always turn Network Data off 1st, then turn WiFi on - once WiFi fully loaded => turn data on. That way it prevent wifi conflict. Works for me.

You might be partially right lol. There was a thread about turning mobile data off and that killed MMS over WiFi. All I know is that I'm able to send and receive MMS at home and I have no cell signal. There's no way the MMS are going through the cell tower. Technically speaking I do have some sort of signal. Even though it says no signal it's a blank triangle and not the circle with a line through it. It's enough to register with the network I guess...
I think I need sleep too. Turning WiFi off gave me the no signal circle. So iono wtf.

I know this has something to do with the custom ROM I'm using (Wicked V.5). I've never seen this issue, and I've been using Androids for 2 years. Even before I flashed Wicked, I had no issues on the same device on the same WiFi network.

Xquizit xD works fine for me.

MMS through wifi?

Anyone notice that MMS messages seem to get sent through wifi when on gingerbread leaks? But using the same modem on EC05 it gets sent through 3g why is that?
Maybe I'm wrong and gingerbread just sends them faster than froyo.
Any ideas on this?
Sent from my Epic- wit te keybrd man
It worked on froyo too

It never works for me whenever I try the 3g data turns on and it sends using that

Yeah, i've never been able to get mms via wifi. My phone spends 8hrs a day (at work i have no signal, just wifi) on wifi and I never get MMS till i leave work and have signal again. On GB or Froyo doesn't matter, never get MMS via wifi.. which sux.

Recieving MMS..

Hey guys. So im realizing when people send me pictures. You have to click the download button. Well when I click it. It does not download and I can not recieve the pictures. In fact, it doesnt even download. Any way to fix this?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Just realized my pics arent sending either.. what goes on here?
Just sent and received a picture message(With Wifi on). Sounds like it might just be a problem with your phone/connection
**Your phone should Automatically Turn on Mobile Data when Sendin or Receiving MMS Messages while Wifi is active. If this is not happening you may want to Call Customer Care.**
Another thing that may be affecting this is bad Signal

Same thing is happening to me. Sending and receiving pics only works when 3g\4g is on rather than Wifi

This has always happened with me with every phone i had. Including from different carriers. I always thought this was normal.

Quite normal. Of course Mobile Data has to be on. No phone can send a message through wifi and have it delivered through the carrier
Edit
However, even with WIFI on your phone should start and stop mobile Data to send and receive MMS messages. If yours is not doing this, then you may want to call Customer Care.
Another possible reason for why this is happening is that you may have a very weak or bad signal.

Wifi calling issues

Anyone else having wifi and wifi calling issues with connection on darkside rom v7
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I've been running darkside v7 for last few days and have not experienced any issues. What issues are you having?
Cant seem to get full wifi when im a room away from the router and wifi calling rarely pops out and this happens in different locations with different routers
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I've had wifi calling disconnects occur at my office occasionally with other roms and typically disabling / re-enabling wifi calling would correct this problem. Sometimes a reboot would also be required. Were you previously using another ICS rom that was working for you? Assuming you've tried the aforementioned steps, I would suggest verifying that the rom download is good and then reflash the rom after a darkside superwipe.

I have also had that problem, I had my wireless router exchanged thinking it was just putting out crappy signal. I moved it out from under the desk where I figured that would also better the strength - but I'm one room over with thin walls and still, terrible wifi signal. Went back to GB to inspect and its great reception. Wifi calling not dropping out in the middle of phone calls now also. The only problem is I can't keep away from ICS so I'm just not using it until something gets adjusted.

CM10 bugs....how to downgrade to ICS

I installed the cm10 rom about 2 weeks ago. I love jelly bean and cm10 dont get me wrong but i have been noticing that i can not send picture messages when connected to 3g or wifi (i have to reboot the phone everytime i want to send a picture) also my 3g would randomly disappear (it disconnects without showing that its disconnected). I have to put the phone on airplane mode and then reconnect to 3g. Just a few days ago my s3 stopped letting me use the wifi at my job (it said trying to avoid poor signal or something like that). The wifi signal at my job is very strong and i went into the wifi settings and disable the "avoid poor signal" feature. Still it wouldnt connect but it connects to the wifi at my house. I just want to know if im the only person experiencing this. Also how would i be able to switch back to ics from jb? Is it a quick process? Can it be done str8 from my phone without using my computer? Can i do it using mobile odin? If odin is needed?

Going back to ics is as simple as wiping the normal things, then flashing a ics based rom.

So i dont have to use odin? I wont brick the phone? I have a nandroid backup of the odexed blue ics rom....would that help in anyway?

So, now that you're back on ICS, you should give CM10 another try. That build was like 2 months old. Those bugs you were talking about have been squashed. Pretty stable at this point.
Ill check it out. Do uknow if netflix is workingon jb?

Wifi won't sleep!

Ok so after many years with this problem I found out what's the culprit. Whenever I get a new Android phone and sign in to my Gmail account it breaks wifi. If I don't sign in to my Gmail it works fine wether if I have Google location services and notify me of networks checked. I think the problem is Google itself restoring backed up wifi settings.
I guess when they made the wifi policy changes on ics from gb it broke wifi and a hard reset will fix it but if you sign in to Gmail it'll restore all your wifi history from the day you first opened up your Google account.. Is there a way I can wipe everything wifi related? Or better yet a way I can forward this to Google? Their help links just send you in circles :banghead:
Edit: Anyone knows why wifi sucks up more power than it did back in Gingerbread? Back then you could keep it on stay awake always and battery was great. After ics if your wifi is set to stay awake its a big battery drainer.. What changed?
Actually I remember ics brought the option to switch from 2.4ghz to 5ghz. I see that on Jellybean the option was removed so I guess both frequencies are on automatically at all times now.

I'm confused. What are you setting to never?
Also what do you mean by your wifi doesn't sleep? Like it doesn't turn off when the screen is off?

Keep wifi on during sleep set to never. Meaning your wifi goes to sleep when screen is off. It wasn't working properly for me.. Hasn't been since my E4GT days. Using the E4GT without signing in to my account is how I realized my google account had something to do with it. With no account it sleeps fine but the min I sign in it stops working then if I hard reset it's fixed. When you have it set to never you should see 3G activated when you turn screen on then wifi kicks back in automatically.
