I believe there are 3 locations:
Display
Accessibility
Launcher
verify that all 3 have auto rotate checked.

You could try re-calibrating the sensors. The Epic team just released a CM10 update to a temporary ROM that can be used for a number of things, including calibrating the sensors for phones that won't auto rotate. I'm not able to post the link at this time, but if you go to Epic CMs Google+ page, they have a posting with the appropriate links.
I used it to update my PRL and it seemed to work fine. Good luck!

Thank very much for the info

Froyo Rotating Wrong Way

Hi all,
Im using Froyo on my Kaiser, ive tried using the different panels.
I have been using Myns Warm Donut with panel 3 and it was ok, but not using Froyo its playing up.
Using Froyo, when I slide my keyboard out it rotates right 90 degrees correctly, but when i slide it back in, it rotates it 180 degrees?
Help? lol
Thanks,
try disable auto-rotate in settings-> display

Yes that worked thanks very much.
Thanks akmalxxx for the tip
Sometimes someone asks a question like this, I often wonder if it would not just be simpler to unset that option in build, rather than relying on the user to know how to do this in advance, ( don't even know if it's possible ?).
Yes a lot of us 'old hands' do this almost automatically after installing a build, along with other settings we have come to prefer.
But the screen orientation one really catches a lot of newer users out.

[Q] Screen Rotate

Is it possible that someone could come up with a flashable mod that will disable the 180 degree rotate, and go back to eclair's 90 degree rotate?
I googled this, and found the following:
1. you can install an apk (http://forum.androidcentral.com/att...egree-screen-rotation-com.norightrotate_3.apk) - but then you get some battery drain because it's a service that runs continuously.
2. another suggestion was to edit the build.prop and find "270rotation=true" and change true to false. Later found out that that line was only in eclair - not in froyo.
So a challenge to all android programmers! Can you make a flashable mod that will disable the 180 degree screen rotation?
"You got a minute to win it... time starts now!" lol
Wow - no one!?!?!

No need for a APK go to Settings>Display> uncheck auto rotation. This sets to 180 and with keyboard out. If you are playing videos or games it will auto rotate with out moving the keyboard out.

Yeah - already knew that. What I'm looking for is bringing it back to Eclair's native setting. 90 rotate on demand - not keyboard dependant.

Sorry about that I didn't spend a whole lot of time on Eclair. I had the phone like 3 days when Foroy came out.

Screen rotation problem

hi, after installing a JB rom like AOKP or CM10, it kills my screen rotation, this has happened to me a few times... the first time I managed to fix it by using the RUU, then I reflashed AOKP and as soon as i did that it killed my screen rotation again, so I tried to reflash the RUU but it did not work this time. Any ideas why this is happening, or how to fix it.. This has happened to me a couple of times, i managed to fix it sometimes by relocking/unlocking a second time.. But now nothing works. I need some help, because I do not think my phones Auto-Rotation is broken, since this happens after installing ROM's..

Do you have your "Rotation Modes" ticked?
Go to settings > Display > Rotation.
Enable it and then in the modes, select
0, 90 and 270 degrees which is default.
Additionally tick 180 if you want the phone to rotate upside down as well.
This worked for me sometime ago. If it doesn't work I don't know then.

screen doesn't rotate at all. but in camera mode it works.
Rotation doesn't work at all on my tab 3 GT-P5210 10.1
running 4.2.2 everything is checked in the settings. smart screen, etc. soft reset and hard reset doesn't do anything. but in camera mode, all works and rotates properly.
Samsung support didn't have a fix. is there a patch or something ?
All of the hardware has been replaced. All of it. Only thing is left was the lcd and digitizer is the same.

This is not the Samsung forum, and where do you guys find these posts....being almost 2 years old :sly:
Samsung tab 3 gt-p5210 no rotating screen
Well I don't have all the time in the world to look up an exact thread or exact are to post this. You found it so I must be getting warmer...
I looked for as long time and couldn't find any post that was exactly for my MODEL. But yes this is the Samsung forum because I chose it from the list.
So I just need a little help in the right direction that is all I don't need for someone to tell me this is the wrong post. I am a techie so I know what I am doing. Just leaning the android ways. I like the hardware side mostly.
THANKS.
WAYNE.

No this is the HTC one X forum buddy, sorry.....
I found it because it gets back on top. It's better to open a thread in the specific device forum and get actual help that is based on this period of time.
Good luck
States at the top HTC One X. We don't do Samsung around here!
boot safe mode, calibrate g-sensor.

Disable Touch Key Backlight on Google Edition

I hope someone can help me out with this (I guess most of my posts arent worth bothering with as they usually go untouched by anyone). I'm trying to figure out a way to disable the touch button backlight on a Google Edition ROM. I have been searching for an answer since the Google Edition hit. All I can ever find is how to disable on GSIII ROMs (non ge). If anyone can please help me out I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

Screen Filter is an app that can disable the backlight of the softkeys. Set it to auto-start at boot and you should be good. I know its not a direct fix but its a low impact app that shouldnt effect battery life or operation.

Seems to work for me. Did it dim the screen at all (thats its main function)? Did you see the check box "enable softkey back light" (uncheck it) at the bottom of the app ui?

Yes, it did dim the screen, but if i uncheck the enable softkey back light, anytime I touch the screen the backlights still come on. Are you on a G.E. rom? I am currently on Infamouse G.E.

No im not. I am on AOSP (Slim Bean) though.
There are options to do this in AOKP and CM roms. Anybody know how those builds pull it off?
Give me a minute to shower and I'll write you an app. All you have to do is install my app, reboot, grant it root access, and profit.

Thanks brother. Any luck getting that working? With all of the research I have been doing, I have found MANY people that want to get this option working.

Okay i am having troubles setting it to off on boot. But here is a "toggle" version of it where you can toggle them on or off. Will try and fix the boot issue tomorrow.
SWEEET!!! Works like a charm thanks dude! Like I said, I've been searching for this forever! I know that many others have been searching for this, perhaps you should make a thread in the mods section.

[Q] Rotation issue on CyanogenMod 10

i am using Android 4.1.2 with CyanogenMod 10.0.0-hercules. I tried various Auto-rotation and rotation settings but it rotates the wrong way or does not rotate at all.
I've read other forums that says this was fixed in CyanogenMod 10 but I am guessing it did not?

Try recalibrating your accelerometer. I am not sure exactly where it is in CM10 but look in settings for an option called 'device'. You should be able to calibrate the sensor from there.

It sounds like you are on Paranoid Android ROM. I am pretty sure gyro calibration is the thing you want to use. If that does not work the only other thing I can think of is you flashed a kernel with rotation issues.

I misspoke when I said accelerometer. Gyro calibration is the setting you need. Make sure you put your phone on a flat surface when calibrating. If that doesn't help your problem it may be the fault of the kernel that you linked.
