[Q] Rotation issue on CyanogenMod 10 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

i am using Android 4.1.2 with CyanogenMod 10.0.0-hercules. I tried various Auto-rotation and rotation settings but it rotates the wrong way or does not rotate at all.
I've read other forums that says this was fixed in CyanogenMod 10 but I am guessing it did not?

Try recalibrating your accelerometer. I am not sure exactly where it is in CM10 but look in settings for an option called 'device'. You should be able to calibrate the sensor from there.

It sounds like you are on Paranoid Android ROM. I am pretty sure gyro calibration is the thing you want to use. If that does not work the only other thing I can think of is you flashed a kernel with rotation issues.

i'm using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372690
the JB version. Yea it uses Paranoid Android, but it doesn't have settings regarding accelerometer.

I misspoke when I said accelerometer. Gyro calibration is the setting you need. Make sure you put your phone on a flat surface when calibrating. If that doesn't help your problem it may be the fault of the kernel that you linked.

[Q] accelerometer calibration

Hello,
Long story short my ARC's accelerometer's X/Y axes are way off (can't use any apps that require accelerometer). Is here any way to calibrate it?
I think a hard reset may be the only way to restore the accelerometer (assuming it was not perma-damaged when you dropped it). There is a similar thread on the X10 forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792514
Unfortunately I don't think there is a system menu where u can calibrate it......could be wrong tho.

Thankyou for the link,
Also accelerometer itself is working just axes are off and here isn't any options in system menu/service menu to calibrate it (At least I couldn't find any).

No probs
Have you tried an app called Bubble? (spirit level app). What happens when you try to open this? I know you can calibrate the accelerometer within that app, but not sure if it applies to system settings too. Might be worth a try
I've tried buble level app. After calibration it works perfectly but calibration isn't system wide.
Hey, try downloading the game 'jetcar stunts' from the market, there's an option there to calibrate the accelerometer. Try that and see if it works

Q & A > Unofficial AOKP [4.2.2]

So keeping it short and sweet:
This is thread to house questions related to the Unofficial AOKP thread, by $MyName.
Questions in that thread can be asked, but "Where do I find the lockscreen wallpaper" shouldn't be asked there, lets keep it clean.
You can ask me directly and as always the other users, as this is a community.

Thanks for this! I would actually like to ask if there is a good inverted google apps mod for 4.2.2 (especially talk, calendar)

Worked fine, though if you're still having trouble:
4.2 camera zip
You can download that zip, flash in recovery [no need to wipe], then reboot.
It'll flash the 4.2 camera with photosphere to your system

Currently most users, myself included, use go sms. I use it full time, other use it just for sms.
Some users have reported success using the 'justintun' inverted gapps.
Hello, I have been running this ROM for about 4 days now. When I go to Settings, ROM Control, General UI, I have "Show Menu UI Overflow" unchecked. However, I am still seeing the 3 dots representing the menu button in apps. This is not a big deal, just a small annoyance. Is there a way to get rid of this? Also, using lock button to wake up phone sometimes takes a while. I have read that disabling "Wake up on charger" has helped for some users, however it has not made a difference for me. Is there a fix for this, as well? I like this ROM very much, it's smooth and very battery efficient. Thanks for the help!

Well as far as the button, have you tried toggling then rebooting; that may fix it.
The wake issue is semi hit or miss. Disabling the wake on connect has helped some; have you altered your kernel settings?

Yup, I have tried toggling and rebooting without success. And when you say kernel settings, are you referring to the performance options? Because I have not made any changes to those. Nor have I made any changes to any kernel settings, as far as I am aware.

Its possible that its a bug; I haven't actively seen anyone else report in on that issue. And kernel settings, yes; and are you using the stock kernel?

Yes, stock kernel and no settings have been changed. Also, I was checking my data usage and I have noticed that it is not changing. It says I've only used about 300mb and that is not nearly the amount I have used. I don't think it is updating data usage for mobile data or Wi-Fi. Anybody else experiencing this? Just a small bug, not too much of a concern. Thanks!

Back button not lighting isn't a bad thing, it actually saves battery.
Anyway, check the settings on display or try flashing a different ROM, the problem might be from the ROM.

By software you mean an app? If yes, I can't help from here. You can check the reviews of the apps you installed. Click all reviews then option, then tick the "reviews from this device only" if it is a bug caused by an app, I'm sure someone reported it through a review.

[Q] BLN driving me nuts!! Pls help

Hi all,
I've put good several hours today trying to get BLN(back light notification) function working on my T989 to no avail. I understand the kernel in CM 10.1.2 doesn't support BLN, so today I flashed a new one that does. After that I installed BLN control. It does report that BLN status is enabled, but neither the test nor the real world uses lit up those 4 damned touch key LEDs.
In addition, I've also tried ButtonLED(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939). It didn't work either because the "brightness" file needed couldn't be found or maybe just doesnt exist. the 5 files its auto search located didn't work of course.
I'd appreciate if some of you more skilled/experienced magnificent people could help me out. There are so many T989 users out there, I'm sure there're people who got bothered by the lack of notifications and figured out a work around. It doesnt have to be with these two apps, but I don't want to use apps that use the main LCD for notifications for battery life's reason.
Thanks ahead!

Can you pls elaborate how you get it working with trickster mod? there's a "LED Control" button but requires paid version. Is this it? there's also "Backlight Notification" toggle which I have set to on but is not doing anything.

The backlight notification toggle is the one I used. I am on Slim Bean 4.3 using Uber 2GHz with BLN though.
Not sure why it works for me and not you.
I wiped cache partition and dalvik cache, still no change....
I read somewhere on internet the ROM must also support BLN function. Could this be the cause?
Download trickster mod..swipe over to the last tab and you'll see an option for backlight notification...enable it and that's it

I've done all that, unfortunately it just didn't work. Are you on CM 10.1 with a kernel that supports bln? Or is there anyone with this setup who have gotten it to work?

T989 Screen Orientation Fix

I had a screen rotation problem.
After looking around i was able to find a few threads that mentioned the orientation fix but non helped me out. I was running a cm11 kitkat rom.
As suggested in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644355 i downloaded advanced tools app from the play store.
As you can see nothing happened after hitting the reset button.
Non of the codes on this thread helped me or didn't work on kitkat http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Focus
I also tried the unroot method which took me down to 4.0.3 and the screen calibration tool there did not helped me either.
I decided to install BeastMod ROM found here http://galaxys2root.com/t-mobile-ga...mobile-galaxy-s2-sgh-t989-great-battery-life/
This took me down to Gingerbread 2.3.5 and with it two calibration tools i was able to fix my screen rotation problem.
Back on kitkat. Screen calibration worked.
carpenter app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ihandysoft.carpenter.toolkit&hl=en
advanced tools app. I guess that's how its suppose to show up when the orientation sensor is calibrated. Got the same result on my other s2.
