I got a new phone (Galaxy S3) So I wanted to wiped the phone clean with factory reset. Now the phone is stuck on the start up.
PLEASE HELP
RUU Doesnt work either
Is there anyway I can flash it with RUU?
(Im new to this stuff)
Before you start your device press volume down + power on/off, choose 'recovery', (wipe data, cache), search 'install zip from sd card', choose your new firmware and update your device.

Please, someone help me!!
Did you ever take a nandroid back up, as flashing this may solve your issue,
As this will restore your phone to a previous state.
If not do you still have the previous rom zip file on your SD card, if not, check your hboot, and select a new rom to flash, do a complete factory wipe and start again.....

I've tried other ROMs but it doesnt seem to work. I had an insert coin rom but now i cant find any download links to it do you have any to upload?
Just to check, before flashing a new rom, you have done a complete wipe..if not give this a try, as for finding a new rom, go to the android development section and there is a list in one of the threads of all the roms available

Im not sure how to find which is the correct RUU
I'm on S-)ff
How do I check what HBOOT I'm on?
To check your h-boot, turn the phone on holding the volume down button, and what does it say in there, if you are s-off it should start alpharev then pvt something hboot
As for the correct ruu to return to stock have a look here

And I would suggest using the HTC gb update as this should work on all desires
Hope this helps

How do i erase this rom and go back to my originical htc evo rom please help me
More info please. But long story short, just flash the stock ROM.
Tapa tapa tapa
Which rom are you on ? Which version do you want to go back to ?
If you want to go back to the same base, eg. Base 3.70 stock while you are on Custom 3.70 base, just flash the stock rom found on the forum.
Try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830153
By the way, wrong section to post your comment. Please post in Q&A section.

if your rooted, which you are if you running a custom rom, flash a good. preferably, the original ruu from sprint. or you can download this kick ass stock rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864501
Download this rom, transfer the root of sdcard, meaning dont put it in folders.
Boot into recovery by powering off phone.
Hold the volume down button plus the power button until you recieve a white screen, then scroll down to recovery.
select it with power button, once in recovery, perform a nand backup, jusst in case.
after backup, select wipe, and wipe data/ factory reset. also wipe dalvik cache.
then get out of that mean and flash zip from the sdcard. after it installs, reboot, and bam.
THE RUU METHOD: (LOSE ROOT)
download the ruu for the phone from htc.com or sprint.com
and follow the instructions.
Hopefully this helps, please post this in the q&a section next time as this is for developing only.

What's going wrong?
If you just want the stock rom, but still be rooted you can either a) restore from your nandroid backup, assuming you made one; or b) flash the stock rooted rom.
If you want to unroot, you need to flash the s-on zip in recovery, then run the RUU from your computer or flash a PC36IMG of the RUU through the bootloader.
I'll elaborate more when you tell me what you've done so far and what you're trying to achieve - stock rooted or unrooted.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
Download the latest stock rom. Can be found at shipped-roms.com, or in the MANY stickies and threads here. Place the zip on your sd card, along with the s-on tool.
Reboot to recovery, flash s-on, then flash stock rom zip.

Go to here and flash any one of the listed roms. These are all of the roms that came shipped with the HTC EVO. I suggest you download the any of the ones with PC36IMG in the file name because they can be flashed.

Make sure that in your attempts to go back to stock, you didn't go s-on. Boot into the bootloader and see if it says s-on or s-off at the top. You can do this by holding the volume down button and power button simultaneously until the phone turns on (you must have the phone turned off first). You'll see a white screen with skating Androids.
If you're s-on, you'll need to run an RUU from your computer or flash a PC36IMG of the RUU through the bootloader in order to get back to stock.
If you're s-off (still rooted/nand unlocked) then you can flash the rooted stock rom that I'll link you to. Download the rom and put it on the root of your SD card (not in any folders). Boot into the bootloader using the directions I gave earlier. Then, using the volume buttons to navigate, highlight recovery and then press the power button to select it. Assuming you're using ClockworkMod Recovery, choose wipe cache, factory reset (it may say something else like wipe data, you should know which one though) and then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. After you've done all three of those, choose install zip from SD card. It's fastest to press the volume up button which will take you to the end of the list - all of your zips will be at the bottom. Highlight the file you just downloaded and press power. Choose yes from the list then let it run its course. When it finishes, select reboot and you will be back on stock.

Holy 4g i did what u said flashed the zip and it did its thing and still came back cyanogen 7. what am i doing wrong anyone pleaseeeee????
i took a whole day trying to figure out how to unroot mine, and i finally got it.
you have to download "unrevoked s-on" put it on your sd card and flash it.
then you have to know which radio your running, so you can know which pc36img to put on your sd card, so when you put it into bootloader it will find it, and run through the checking process, then it will let you apply the update and you will be unrooted.
which radio are you running, and i can help you find which pc36img you need to be using.

Did you go into recovery and wipe cache, data/factory reset beforehand? Check out Guide to Unrooting

Hello all!
Yesterday I decided I wanted to try the latest RCMix ROM (v2.2b). Usually I do the update from ROM Manager, but it informed me there was a new version to download so I downloaded it.
Anyway, I proceeded with it and installed the ROM and everything went fine, until it rebooted, which it then just hung on the s-off boot screen. I waited for an hour but to no avail so had to take out the battery.
So, I tried to do it again manually by doing a factory wipe/clear cache/clear dalvik cache and flashed again, but again, same thing happened even though it said it had installed ok. I tried doing this 5 times before I gave up (although leaving 20 minutes on the boot screen before giving up each time)
Next I decided that maybe it was the new version of the ROM, so I downloaded the v2.1 of it, but still got the same problem, so then I decided to try my original one (v2.0) because it worked fine previously, but this also didn't work!
Finally, I decided I best try a different ROM altogether, so I tried the LeeDroid ROM (which I've used in the past, albeit a previous version), but this also has the same problem.
So, I'm a bit stuck what to do, hence why I've had to post on here. I've read that the latest clockworkmod recovery has some issues, does this still apply? Could this be the cause of my problem? I've tried finding a previous version of clockworkmod to install via sd card to test it out, but had no luck finding one.
Does anyone else have any suggestions on what I can do? Please bare in mind that I'm not very good with all the technical side of this so please try keep it as simple as possible for me!
My phone recovery says the following:
AlphaRev CM7 r2
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-5.10.05.23
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
Thanks in advance for your help

Waiting to see if it'll load atm, still on the same screen, but only been 5 minutes so far. What's the next option if this doesn't work? I was thinking about just trying to go back to stock and start it all form scratch again.
As suspected, it still did the same thing :-(

I'm going to remember this for the future!
After me being impatient (you'll probably be disheartened to hear) I've decided to go the stock way to try get me back to the beginning. After a lot of messing around (reformatting sd-card and placing files on it via a laptop which had the files put on there via USB flash drive!) I think I've managed to get it down to stock again. The bootloader screen thingy says:
BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.75.0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-4.05.00.11
and when I try select the RECOVERY option it just displays the red triangle (I believe this is because it's not rooted or something (can't currently remember how got it working last time)?)
The problem now though is I would have though I should be able to boot normally now? What happens is when I press the power button it just goes straight into the bootlader screen.
At the triangle, you press vol UP + Power to get to stock recovery. Cant do much there but factory reset though.
did you fastboot flash the downgrader.img from Alpharev before running the RUU?

I'd be tempted to factory reset then run an RUU again.

I've just tried the following RUU after doing a factory reset:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865
However when going through the instructions it said that my current image is:
2.29.405.5
I proceeded anyway by pressing Update, and it ended up with the following error:
ERROR[140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
From what I've quickly googled, it sounds like I got that error because the RUU I was trying to install was less than the one currently installed? If so then how can I get one that is newer as I can't see any newer ones than that!
EDIT: I'll try using the one you suggested again

You probaby flashed the wrong pc10img file...check the md5 sum against that oof the file...another thing is you can try a higher recovery becuasue I remember when u flash a hboot it replaces the recovery...try flashing the latest version of clockwork via adb...if not that refer to the devs

Maybe you could try flashing a different recovery image to your phone via fastboot. Perhaps try flashing 4EXT Recovery by madmaxx82. Then reboot into recovery via fastboot and see if it'll let you restore or flash a ROM. Just a thought...

Hi I have recently bought a preowned htc desire from my friend. When i received it from him it was working fine but then i went to factory reset the phone to get rid of all of his contacts and user data. But when i tried to factory reset it, when it turned back on it came of with the htc white start up screen saying htc then it went into another screen just saying android in grey text. It stayed on this screen for ages and i didnt know what to do. I took the battery out then put it back in then tried to wipe everything in the hard reset option. I have clockworkmod on the phone and i tried to install a rom to flash it but it didnt work. I'm fairly new to this stuff and am hoping that someone can help me. Thankyou
no worries dude. Download a rom u want to try, store it in say downloads folder, reboot into recovery (take battery out, put back in, hold volume button down, press power on and u in recovery). Wipe dalvik cache and everything else to be safe. Flash new room or load one via mount options in recovery. Might have one in backup so restore backup first if you wish.
some roms can take like 30 minutes to load so don't rush it.

Aha. Don't just do a cache wipe and factory reset (aka data and cache wipe). You need to wipe /system, /data, and /cache. That is a full wipe.

I don't use CWM so I don't know. Look though the menu options.
Thankyou everyone for their time trying to help me solve my issue. I have found out that it was the ROM that i was using when i used the first ROM it didnt work and i am not sure why but it was only 7mb but then when i used the other ROM it was actually 160mb and that ROM fixed my problem. Thankyou everyone for their time you have made me extremely happy today.:highfive::good::laugh::fingers-crossed::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory:

As a side note, Congrats!
Yup, congratulations dude u flashed ur first rom. Please excuse us for us not getting stressed with u when urs wouldn't boot but we knew u see. in a months time you'll have flashed hundreds of roms. After that youll want another device to root and flash... Then u r sad like us, but also happy like us... And free.
