[Q] Rooting and Installing Customer ROMs after Unlocking - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I just performed a stock recovery to unlock my phone. I have successfully unlocked the phone. Can I root it and install a custom ROM and have the phone remain unlocked?

Yep. Your sim unlock will stay permanently.

[Q] R800X How to tell if Bootloader Unlocked

A month or two ago I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my R800X on 2.3.2. Ever since 2.3.3 has came out, I've wanted to update, but I cannot due to my bootloader being unlocked. Thanks to some very helpful instructions by a fellow XDA member, I did the instructions to relock my bootloader, but I am still rooted. Is that normal? How can I check to see if my bootloader is locked? I really want 2.3.3
You can check it by trying to use fasboot. If your locked, fastboot commands won't work (they'll come back with "you need root first" or something like that). Also, I think you need to do something to get rid of root and put the rom just like it was stock or the install might fail. Might try a factory reset. Good luck!

No if you root your phone that's all that will happen

I think it would be best if you flash your stock firmware to your phone first....as i have seen i lost both root & bootloader unlock after i did so...

Need unlock again after flash CM9/10 room or not

Dears,
I buy a I747 and bring back to my country to use so I already unlocked it (using N3X cable)
Now I want to flash new rom such as CM10 so do I need to unlock my phone again after upgrade ?
Thank you
You shouldn't have too. Once unlocked, it should remain unlocked. I've flashed every single ROM so far and my unlock has remained in tact.

[Q] Which Rom for Simcard Unlock?

So i talked with T-Mobile couple days ago and asked them for a Unlocking Code for my T989 and i just got it today, I restarted the phone using a Different SimCard and it doesn't prompt me for Unlocking the Device this could be cause of the Rom i have currently installed which is the XTREMEPERIA#5, Is there any Rom out there i could use to Unlock my Device without Restoring it to Stock Version using this Guide

You just need to use stock to unlock than your device will be permanently unlocked. You can use any roms after that

Once your phone is UNLOCKED you cannot remove the unlock by
flashing roms and rooting or unrooting the phone.
You can flash any rom you like and or root or unroot your phone and it will remain UNLOCKED.
A unlocked or locked phone has nothing to do with rooting or flashing roms.
Good luck!
Thank you for the info will be rooting tonight

How to unlock bootloader?

Hey guys, I need some help. How can I unlock the bootloader on the N3 and root it? This is my first time to have a locked phone. Altough it supports different SIM cards, the bootloader is locked. And yeah - should I wait until KitKat update comes out or should I root it now? Thanks in advance!

Great thing about T-Mobile is bootloaders are not locked. Just root first from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423 and install your custom recovery afterwards.

The T-Mobile Note 3 does not have a locked bootloader, simply use Odin to flash a custom recovery and/or root the stock OS. It is carrier locked but not bootloader locked. Only the AT&T and Verizon variants are locked (and I think Verizon has a "developer" unlocked variant).

Thanks for that, but when I search for ROMs should I download roms for the international version of Note3 or Tmobile? Or is there any difference since bootloader is unlocked? And how can I root without tripping KNOX?

This was answered in your other post. You gonna need to read and research. Knowledge is your friend. The devs here put in the first line what phones the rom will work for. If it a T-Mobile phone then you in right area.

As XDA is not a support site, and all users should read before posting (duplicate) threads...this one thread is closed.
