[Q] Headphone problem - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

So I have this problem that I hate. I play my music on my gs3 but whenever I plug my headphones in it only seems to go to one speaker in the earbuds, I've tried about 3 different pairs of headphones even the ones that came with the galaxy s3 and those are brand new. All the headphones work in both speakers only if I turn the cord a bit but it's so annoying. Alright, so I'm thinking that it might be the phone because obviously sometimes I notice I can push the headphones in sometimes and not sometimes. So I'm thinking it has to do with the 3.5mm headphone port. My Galaxy S3 is rooted but this started happening way before I started flashing any roms. Also will I need to unroot it if I want to send it back?
I do have premium handset protection and the warranty is still on it, so what can I do, is there anyway to fix it? Also if I have to replace it can I go to a T-Mobile store and do it instead of through calling?

Can anyone answer?

You will need to unroot your phone if you are planning to send it back for a replacement or else; they may refuse your replacement. When you rooted it you supposedly voided your warranty. As far as returning it; you will have to call customer service for it. Stores; as far as I'm aware; will not do it for you. They may get the process started; but the actual exchange will happen over the mail. Calling customer service will be the quickest and easiest way to solve your problem.

Replacement Phone without Insurance?

Will Sprint give me a replacement phone if I don't have any insurance? I've heard that the Epic 4G Touch comes with a manufacturer's warranty so is it possible my phone can be replaced by this? I'll use a Jig to reset the ODIN count if needed.
I would like to know so that I don't order a Jig for no reason

Wondering the same. I did the same thing u did to yours. Data partition is messed up. I have insurance on my line but I don't have my epic touch activated now so I wonder if I can Activate and then take it in.

all phones come with a warranty. You just have to convince them it's a hardware defect. I've had many a phone replaced without using the insurance because of a bad power button or a bad plug. The insurance only comes into play for loss, water, or cracked glass.

Thanks. So what do you think are my chances if I use a Jig to reset the Odin count? My phone is still stuck in a boot loop and when I turn it on, it says the International Version stuff.
Edit: I think my phone's battery just died. Will it charge regularly if it's just connected to the USB?
Just got my epic replaced on Saturday, my charging port had oxidized somehow and my phone would think its charging all the time causing crazy battery loss.
Since it was a hardware defect that wasn't my fault (phone had no water damage and tech saw that this was a known issue) they replaced it free of charge.

i dont mean to hijack this thread, but if i bought my phone from letstalk would i still be able to get a replacement if i convinced sprint there was a hardware defect?
Also, does anyone know what they do to the phones?
I.e. do they give you a replacement phone on the spot and collect your old phone? Or do they send your old phone to some factory to make sure you need a replacement phone, and if not, repair it?

Depends if they have any to give u. Most if the time they do so they just take your old phone and give u a new one on the spot. If they don't they will order u one.

No they wont. When my Nexus s 4g didnt get good enough reception i went a sprint store to show them how wifi wouldnt connect they looked at it and checked on their computer and simply said "contact Let's talk for a replacement" so i did. I got my ET4G for $70 when sprint was asking for $200 plus it was way over the returned period. So just do the same with Lets talk act like the phone is messed up on its on or something im sure they change it.
So apparently Sprint replaces with Hardware defects. Could I technically mask a data partition error from rooting as a hardware error? I'd have to reset the Odin count though

Hey did you have your phone rooted when you brought it in? Just wondering because I am having the same problem. My phone isn't recognizing when it is plugged into the computer either and I can't create a connection to unroot. =/ Any suggestions?

Try Mobile Odin. I've never used it but if you can get the stock firmware tar on your SD card by downloading it directly, then you can use mobile Odin to flash it over.

Issue with 4.0.4 or phone?

I just got a refurb replacement for my GN from Verizon because my first GN had no recovery image on it which prevented me from doing factory resets and doing the 4.0.4 update. I just got the new one in the mail and after setting it up and installing 4.0.4 there are terrible data connection issues. If I have 4G turned on and begin using the internet in anyway, browser, facebook, etc.. it only hold the connection for 30 seconds max and it loses all network entirely preventing me from using the web or making calls until it reestablishes connection which takes like 30 seconds. Now when i'm not using 4G and just on standard network, I can make calls and send txts without a problem and it holds the connection just fine. Is there a fix to this issue? Is it a faulty device or is this a known issue for 4.0.4? Im going to go back to VZW for another replacement unless I get an answer here. Rooting is not an option because I want to keep my warranty because there are so many damn issues with this phone. Thanks

They don't know what it is. I'm on my 4th replacement device and still same issues as you. They said next one I can either get a Maxx or wait for a SG3 for my troubles. OK

gfropr, did VZW actually tell you the SGSIII was an option? I finally went in and they told me I could swap mine out for either the Bionic or the Razr and I asked about the SIII and they really weren't sure if it was an option because it's not out yet. I'm going to be very mad if they make me swap for anything Motorola and I'm for sure not going to get the iPhone.

They told me they would make an exception and I can get a Razr Maxx or wait for a SG3. At first they offered Mr a Charge or Razr lol. I said I WILL NOT downgrade.
They will not let you get a IPhone BTW.

[Q] Warranty replacement?

I have the screen lines and blobs issue on my phone pretty bad and I was thinking about doing a warranty replacement. The thing is though, if it means getting a refurbished phone then i don't want to do it.
As I understand some other people's experience, if I send to Samsung for replacement I will get a new phone but if i send to tmobile I will get a refurbished one, is that right? Can anyone with experience verify?
Just send the phone into t mobile and when they send another phone back just use it for a bit them and that one back to them if ou send phone back more then 3 time they will give you a new different phone my sis did it and t more gave her the sgs3

Thanks but I would rather not try to risk ending up with a refurbished phone in case tmobile doesn't do that consistently. Has anyone had experience with returning a phone to Samsung? Do you always receive a new phone in return or refurbished?

[Q] Anyone Have Any Experience With Samsung's Repairs?

Hey guys,
I'm having multiple issues with the headphone jack and the screen so I believe that I'll need to send my phone in to get fixed. Does anyone have any experience with getting a phone repaired under warranty? I want to know if it's worth paying the $35ish and having Sprint fix it at the store instead of sending the phone in to Samsung (which I'm assuming will happen.)
Thanks!

Voice on regular call randomly not audible, works on loud speaker

Hi,
I been using this phone from when M8 is launch. I never had a problem and I hardly remember rebooting the device. This issue happened like 2 weeks before. I had to use my phone for a Conference Hangout call and I used the Headphone (iPhone 5S's one) for privacy. I unplugged the Headphone after that. After that I had couple of voice call, but I couldn't hear a thing. I turned on the loud speaker, I was able to hear. The phone was like that for 3 days and I hard reset the phone. I still had the problem for 2 more days.
I decided to sent it to the service center, called them over Bluetooth they gave me directions to send it to the service center. After that call, I got another call, which I answered without Bluetooth, I was able to hear the voice.
Now this issue, randomly comes and goes. Anyone had this problem before? I haven't sent device to the service center yet.
About the Phone,
- Bought in Australia unlocked
- Hardly used Headphones with this device as I use Bluetooth Headphone
- The phone is running on Stock (never rooted), 4.4.3
Thanks
Based on the response I got here, I send the phone to the Service Center yesterday. Thank you guys!
I'm having the same problem
If you have warranty, return it to the service service. Its almost 2 weeks, I haven't heard from them yet.
