A positive story. - HTC One X

Well. Last night after a few we thought it would be good to throw out a crayfish trap. I took my phone to use the torch and baited up. I swung the trap and launched it out into the depths along with my trusty torch/phone.
A mate said, "hey, how's that light in the water?".
A moment later I fuzzily realized it was my onex sitting on the freshwater dam bed 2m under lighting up the whole area. I dove in, grabbed it and powered off.
Took it back inside, opened it up, shook it dry and left it in a container of rice next to the fireplace.
Rebuild this afternoon and perfect. Spent 4 hrs with camera in caves. Perfect. 2 hrs GPS. Perfect. Phone and texts. Perfect.
I did also bend up all contacts before assembly.
Note: the only place water got in was headphone port really. For how long it was under I would have thought it would be waterlogged. Not so.
Now loving the unibody design.

nice story, what do you mean by "opened it up " ? What is there to open on the HoX ?
Anyway glad to hear my trusty phone won't die in a matter of second if I drop it the water.

Check the WiFi fault thread mate. You can pry it open from the bottom up taking extreme care. I wanted to remove battery but the connector plug is under the motherboard and needed micro Phillips and some skills. Both I lacked at the time so just shook dry and in the container.

question mate, for how long did you own HTC?
these things never fail mate (unless you own a defect)
since the day of my HTC diamond in terms of functionality they are the most reliable devices
ask my wife, she drop her sensation XL like its ok, the back cover and battery fly off, yet so not a scratch

Reminded myself of when my HTC Diamond ended up in the toilet, grabbed some tongs to fish it out, stripped the unit and dried, all was working fine. Sold unit in perfect working order 6 months later on Ebay. You gotta get lucky sometimes.

Wow. Amazing.. give u a like!

That's a great story. I work on a boat off the Irish coast and I'm always concious of it falling in! Is a shame it didn't float, I don't think I would be diving in to rescue it, torch or no torch!

Well....
The honeymoon is over.
Phone lasted this long and performed perfectly.
But now parts of the screen are unresponsive.
Now the insurance company have said they no longer have HTC one x.
Gutted
Goodbye Sense.
Was nice knowing you.
Thanks for all the laughs people.

One X casing

Guys,
I.just.f*cking.dropped.my.one.x.on.the.asphalt... Now, its beautiful casing is blemished with scars. Is there any available for replacement. I know this usu unibody construction, but i really need this seriously...

Holy s**t, I hate it when that happens.
Couldn't find anything atm unfortunately, I think OEM housing replacements normally become available a few weeks after the phone launches.
I know how you feel mate, I did a similar thing 2 days after owning a Nexus S.

I don't think you're going to be able to do it yourself like other phones. Perhaps HTC will have some kind of service where you can pay a bit of $$ and trade for a refurb.... Otherwise it's going to be hard with a unibody.
M.
can you post some pics
I thought so too because of its unibody design.. sigh.

i think a case is very necessary...
my camera lens got a scratch from sitting on my table, screen up.. when u put the phone screen up, the entire lens is in contact with the tabletop because the lens is flushed with the metallic ring.. god, this is a real retarded design.. i've used my hd2 for 2 years and the lens has not have a single scratch because the len is recessed compared to the metallic frame... this time round however, 4 days new, and the htc one x len got scratched. real.....
word of advise: need to put something on surface for the phone to sit..
put screen up, camera lens gets scratch.. put screen faced down, entire screen in contact.. higher chance of scratches on screen.. seriously, i dunno why htc keep designing phones with low battery capacity when sense eats battery like kids eat sweets and design phone with cameras sticking out all the time...
they are like the only people around who design phones with the camera sticking out, begging u to scratch the damn lens..
Yep same here..
Coming from the DHD to the Sensation XE i was happy
They improved it a lot....But for the One they lapsed
Unlucky man, sounds like a disaster to me. I'd be so sad if my new toy was damaged hope you get it sorted!

Why HTC alway have the same "smart" desgin of phone camera?

I wonder why the hell HTC alway design the phone with "frog eye" camera like this HTC ONE X ? I'v just use my phone for 1 week and it have a lot of scratch already. This is the most reason why i hate HTC.
They are so smart ? OR they never use their phone so they did not know that those "frog eye" camera design will very very easy to get scratch ?

For those that have creeking sound on display's corners

This is actually not a huge issue to be honest but i do remember that it annoyed me. I don't think you can tell you have it, unless you actually check.
I was able to get rid of the creeking sound though. I don't guarantee it works but hey, it is worth a try?
Well basically i just played a game or used my phone long enough for it to get warm. Once the phone has gotten warm enough, i would place my pointer finger on the back side and thumb on the display ( spot where it creeks). Next i would apply pressure. Obviously you are not going to want to apply too much pressure as to damage the display. I have been doing this multiple times throughout the day and now i no longer hear anything.
ps: i even fixed the gap this way(had it at the top of my screen, dust would fill in). Now it is nicely sealed.
I will not be held accountable for anyone trying to apply pressure with a hammer
Good luck
Sounds very interesting, not sure if it would help anybody else. Sounds like some harry potter magic stuff
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Mine does the same and yeah it is annoying when you pay close to 600€ for such a phone.
So what you're doing is actually warming up the glue and so on..? sounds interesting.mine started to creek after a month of use. I think it's not acceptable for 600e phone

Well, believe it or not, as i was sceptical about this, but this simple solution did fix my issue with creeking noise. Thanks alot man!
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Hey man, I bought my hox a week ago and I noticed the cracking today. I tried your fixed, I heated the phone up while playing shadowgun for 10 min and then applied pressure and it seems that the cracking is gone. Thanks for now and I will check back if the cracking appears again(hope not)
Thanks again
I had no creaking on the display side that is until I dropped my phone yesterday luckily no scratches or dents as I had a case on which popped off on the drop.
Will try this out later and try fix it, creaks on bottom left and right.
Glad to hear it is working for others as well. Either way, if you hear any creeking noise again just repeat the steps. At least inmy case after repeating it a number of times it vanished

May not be that much of a deal to you, but I think it is a big deal if you consider that you did pay around 600$ or 550euros for a phone, so you want it to feel like a flagship phone as well.

holy crap, that is badass.
Has anyone tried that One V bike case? I don't trust it on a jump or anything, I feel like any sort of bump will annihilation the phone.
Though I am interested as I bike primarily and would work great with bluetooth + endomondo. I could get the phone out of my pocket when I bike.
It looked pretty solidly constructed. I dont have one but if you want it badly enough I'd suggest buying one and just going for a couple lower impact rides first to test it out, shouldn't be hard to tell if it'll handle the bumps well or not.
this is incredible

It's the same theory as a pogo stick. It is nearly impossible to stand perfectly still but with a little moving around it can be done.

Waterproof case..

I'm going on a vacation and wanted to take underwater video and take my phone to the beach. Anyone have any experience with any of the many options out there? Drycase, overboard, aquapac, sealabox.. Or any word on life proof or Otterbox armor or seidio obex . Coming out for the HTC One. Many reviews on amazon and the leak reviews on all of them scare the **** out of me. Hi, I do asked myself this since I live near the beach and want to do kind of the same you want.
I bought the Sealabox 3XL it fits perfectly the HTC One, you can get on ebay I paid around 22 after searching for a while.
I tested it in the sink and firstly you have to flash a kernel for making it able to wake the phone (i use Logo 2 wake).otherwise you can't do nothing (you have no way to press power) - I flashed tbalden 's kernel.
It doesnt get a drop of water in, so I feel confident it will be good. I will test it maybe today or tomorrow in the sea.
Hope I was usefull.

Awesome thanks man, this is great. Yea let me know how it works. I was hoping to take something maybe even snorkeling. Yea I was using the logo to wake before I flashed 4.2.2. So I will downgrade if I have to before the trip.

Snorkeling I think maybe not good idea since it says only 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. I will try slowly since I don't wanna have my phone as a brick
I will test it in an hour.

Why not stick some paper towels in there instead and swim however you want? It'll be easy to tell if any water gets into the case then.
Unfortunately I went to the beach late today and played rackets so I will be testing it tomorrow.
That is a really nice idea, I will try to see how much depth can it handle with a paper.

I have the SEALABOX 3XL as well love it took it on holiday used in pool the whole time no problems
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
So I tried last weekend.
Positive: No water anywhere inside, so does it's job. Good picture quality and video.
Good protection from sand.
Quick removing and placing protection.
Negative: No access to buttons.
Not good visibility when recording or taking pictures at the moment.
With Invisible Shield Screen Protector (i think its because of this) when I immerse the phone it automatically touch screen making it stop / start recording.
How do you wake the phone inside a sealabox?
The sealabox looks pretty good for beach/pool/sweat protection, but how do you wake the phone without access to the power button? Do you guys use something like awesome on off, or an app similar to that?
I'll be in the beach sooner too.
About the SEALABOX, how can you take a photo or video in the sea ?
I plan to do some snorkeling, and I would to record this event with the HTC one.
I wish there were good waterproof cases for the HTC One like there is for the iPhones and even S3s. Lifeproof would be ideal. I think all we have are pouches/baggies that happen to fit the HTC One. I posted on Lifeproof's facebook page voicing my wishes for a case for the HTC One! Anyone that would also want one should do the same as they don't consider making products for new phones unless they have popular enough demand.
I've been on the hunt for something similar to the optrix or life proof cases for the iPhone. I'm having no luck and so far have to use a LokSak which is not ideal. Anyone else having better luck?
