I'm going on a vacation and wanted to take underwater video and take my phone to the beach. Anyone have any experience with any of the many options out there? Drycase, overboard, aquapac, sealabox.. Or any word on life proof or Otterbox armor or seidio obex . Coming out for the HTC One. Many reviews on amazon and the leak reviews on all of them scare the **** out of me. Anyway thanks for any your guys comments on your experience with them.

Hi, I do asked myself this since I live near the beach and want to do kind of the same you want.
I bought the Sealabox 3XL it fits perfectly the HTC One, you can get on ebay I paid around 22 after searching for a while.
I tested it in the sink and firstly you have to flash a kernel for making it able to wake the phone (i use Logo 2 wake).otherwise you can't do nothing (you have no way to press power) - I flashed tbalden 's kernel.
It doesnt get a drop of water in, so I feel confident it will be good. I will test it maybe today or tomorrow in the sea.
Hope I was usefull.

Awesome thanks man, this is great. Yea let me know how it works. I was hoping to take something maybe even snorkeling. Yea I was using the logo to wake before I flashed 4.2.2. So I will downgrade if I have to before the trip.

Snorkeling I think maybe not good idea since it says only 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. I will try slowly since I don't wanna have my phone as a brick
I will test it in an hour.
I can post movie on YouTube later maybe

Why not stick some paper towels in there instead and swim however you want? It'll be easy to tell if any water gets into the case then.
Unfortunately I went to the beach late today and played rackets so I will be testing it tomorrow.
That is a really nice idea, I will try to see how much depth can it handle with a paper.

I have the SEALABOX 3XL as well love it took it on holiday used in pool the whole time no problems
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
So I tried last weekend.
Positive: No water anywhere inside, so does it's job. Good picture quality and video.
Good protection from sand.
Quick removing and placing protection.
Negative: No access to buttons.
Not good visibility when recording or taking pictures at the moment.
With Invisible Shield Screen Protector (i think its because of this) when I immerse the phone it automatically touch screen making it stop / start recording.
How do you wake the phone inside a sealabox?
The sealabox looks pretty good for beach/pool/sweat protection, but how do you wake the phone without access to the power button? Do you guys use something like awesome on off, or an app similar to that?
I'll be in the beach sooner too.
About the SEALABOX, how can you take a photo or video in the sea ?
I plan to do some snorkeling, and I would to record this event with the HTC one.
I wish there were good waterproof cases for the HTC One like there is for the iPhones and even S3s. Lifeproof would be ideal. I think all we have are pouches/baggies that happen to fit the HTC One. I posted on Lifeproof's facebook page voicing my wishes for a case for the HTC One! Anyone that would also want one should do the same as they don't consider making products for new phones unless they have popular enough demand.
I've been on the hunt for something similar to the optrix or life proof cases for the iPhone. I'm having no luck and so far have to use a LokSak which is not ideal. Anyone else having better luck?

Based on pics they have up on their site of other phones, and watching a couple of their install videos, I'm really interested in the Skinomi skins... they have plenty of pictures up for other models of phones, but no pictures for the Epic 4G Touch:
http://www.skinomi.com/samsungwithin.html
I sent their customer service a message, telling them I am interested but not willing to order completely sight-unseen since I don't know how the skins will be implemented on this particular phone.
Has anyone used these skins before?
Anyone got one of them on their Epic 4G Touch yet?
I'm hoping it'll be similar to this, since these phones are pretty similar form factor:

I won't buy Skinomi again after their HP TouchPad crap. Ordered a carbon fiber skin for the back of mine. They sent me a email saying it shipped but didn't actually go out til 3 days later. Then When I get it they for whatever reason added a cut out in the back to expose the nasty HP logo instead of leaving it one piece like pictured. The picture of the skin when I bought it was one piece, a few days later they switched it to the one with the center cutout.
I got mine today and installed it and its great. I had one on my inspire and loved it. It takes about 1 to 2 days for it to settle but when it does its like glass. Ill post pics tomorrow when all the solution drys and the bubbles disappear.

You have a skin, or just a screen protector? I'm curious what the layout is. Guessing still that it's like the Inspire links I posted above.

What does it look like before it settles in? I put mine on about 2 hours ago and some spots on the screen look kind of sparkly. Is this normal? Maybe the solution hasn't dried?

By the way, they're available now for $3.95 plus free shipping on Amazon. I ordered a back up because it's a nice protector and so damn cheap. Figured this may be a pricing gimmick by skinomi, first time buyer. Can't go wrong for 4 bucks shipped. I don't mind the friction and it's application process gets rid of any possible air pockets and the rainbowing seems to be minimal and disappearing. Those are the things i was most concerned about. I'm diggin it.
how long did you guys wait to use the phone after applying the screen protector ??
Just to clarify...
... This thread is about the skins, not the screen protector.
Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't mind hearing how those are either, in fact id like to hear if that's all you got - but mostly want to see if the skins are laid out the same way as in the second post:

Since these seem like a great anti-case solution, I'd love to see any pictures, i don't want to buy blind.
Thanks!
I can tell you that I bought a TPU black matte case and a skinomi screen protector and they both look excellent. I have in the past on various phones used Zagg, Ghost Armor and Best Skinz. Skinomi looks as good or better then the Ghost Armor which is the only other brand I would buy again. There is little to none orange peel effect and the feel of it is almost non-existent. Zagg is the only brand i would never ever buy again. The feel of Zagg is comparable to cover being on the phone vs naked and the look leaves alot to be desired also.
For the price on Amazon for the Skinomi, it is a clear winner (no pun intended) in my book.
Good to know...
I'm not a "case" kind of a guy - i like slim and pocketable - but I do have a tpu case on here right now, and would definitely recommend it. My matte black one looks upscale and fits really well, and it's not too thick really.
I just want that mm or two back.
Any pictures?
I'm trying to upload some pictures but it won't let me it keeps giving me a security error.
Here are a few pictures of the carbon fiber skin and the screen protector.
I'm impressed... I think that looks even better than the Infuse!

You need to give these skins at least 24hrs to settle. 48hrs for sure. Assuming the install went well, you should see all bubbles/sparkles disappear.
This is actually not a huge issue to be honest but i do remember that it annoyed me. I don't think you can tell you have it, unless you actually check.
I was able to get rid of the creeking sound though. I don't guarantee it works but hey, it is worth a try?
Well basically i just played a game or used my phone long enough for it to get warm. Once the phone has gotten warm enough, i would place my pointer finger on the back side and thumb on the display ( spot where it creeks). Next i would apply pressure. Obviously you are not going to want to apply too much pressure as to damage the display. I have been doing this multiple times throughout the day and now i no longer hear anything.
ps: i even fixed the gap this way(had it at the top of my screen, dust would fill in). Now it is nicely sealed.
I will not be held accountable for anyone trying to apply pressure with a hammer
Good luck
Sounds very interesting, not sure if it would help anybody else. Sounds like some harry potter magic stuff
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Mine does the same and yeah it is annoying when you pay close to 600€ for such a phone.
So what you're doing is actually warming up the glue and so on..? sounds interesting.mine started to creek after a month of use. I think it's not acceptable for 600e phone

Hey man, I bought my hox a week ago and I noticed the cracking today. I tried your fixed, I heated the phone up while playing shadowgun for 10 min and then applied pressure and it seems that the cracking is gone. Thanks for now and I will check back if the cracking appears again(hope not)
Thanks again
I had no creaking on the display side that is until I dropped my phone yesterday luckily no scratches or dents as I had a case on which popped off on the drop.
Will try this out later and try fix it, creaks on bottom left and right.
Glad to hear it is working for others as well. Either way, if you hear any creeking noise again just repeat the steps. At least inmy case after repeating it a number of times it vanished

May not be that much of a deal to you, but I think it is a big deal if you consider that you did pay around 600$ or 550euros for a phone, so you want it to feel like a flagship phone as well.

Easy old trick is a sandwich bag and a little silicone. I know fishermen friends who did that with the Motorola bricks back in the day. But your real issue is the capacitive touch screen. It'll probably not pick up your fingers. Ever tried to use your phone with a drop on the screen? Tends to throw it off.

Geez, $40? IMO, for that kind of price, I think it would be beneficial cost wise to use the sandwich bag gimmick as stated above but find someone with one of those airtight bag sealers to protect the device furthermore. That's pretty much what that dry case is anyway, just in a more easy to use, continual usage, professional looking wrap.

maybe im wrong, but i would guess that it's unlikely there will be any bumpers from main manufacturers considering the phone is very thin at the edges and also the fact that it gets narrower at the edges (ie. not constant thickness)

Bro, check on http://www.pdair.com they sell high quality leather pouches. I'm like you and I like my phone to be naked and only be covered by a pouch so that people can see the device I have (I know, it sounds kind of egocentric) but also, I like to see my phone as it is, without anything covering it except the screen protector
The products are in production and expected to be released soon, I will definetly get one from them
I'm really loving that HTC is putting out their own accessories as well, I'm personally getting the flip case.
I never use cases for usual usage, but I'd like to have a kickstand since I plan on also using this for a very tiny but very portable working/entertaining interface. Like I usually jot down a few notes about appointments and lectures, as well as I like watching stuff on my phone

Hi All,
I've attached a few pictures of the Sonivo Wallet case for the nexus 5. It also has a sleep sensor but the best way to show that is through video, will try to upload to youtube and this thread a little later today.
I've been using it for a couple days now and it's a brilliant, sleep sensor works perfectly, it's the only case I've come across that has this feature! All the additional pockets on the inside come in handy too.
It's available on amazon which is where I got mine from, arrived a day after I placed the order so they've defo got stock of these already. You can search for it on amazon "Sonivo Premium Leather Wallet Case nexus 5"
I'll try my best to get a few more pics and that video up a little later today so you can see for yourself why I think this case is so good.
If you have any questions post a comment and I'll try reply as soon as!

Only thing I hate about this case is the fact that it has sim slots.

Looks nice enough for £12. Ordered one. Like the idea of a wallet. I've a dt-910 and if I could combine a wallet case that would work with QI charging I'd be happy! Happy to pay a fair bit more for something premium, suggestions anyone?

Well actually it's not for me but for my husband's new phone. I knew he had been looking for something with sensors so had bought this case after reading about it here. I don't usually write on forums but I thought that it might be worth sharing my 2 cents worth given that I wouldn't have found the case had it not been for coming across this xda thread.
It arrived really quickly so was able to surprise my husband with it before he flies out tomorrow. Looks like a nice case in terms of finish. Stand is easy to use and I can attest to the sleep sensors working perfectly. Obviously it's early days so might convince my husband to write a more in-depth review of it in a few weeks. The phone was easy enough to get in the case, getting it out can seem harder but I just clipped a corner out and the rest followed without effort. Test shot with the camera was fine but again it was just one pic so will see what's it's like when you need to take images on the move etc.
One thing I noticed someone mention is the SIM card holders. While I agree that I personally would have no use for them, they are definitely going to be useful for my husband who has one of these global SIM cards for when he travels. Either way I don't think they are obtrusive given that they are on the inner flap and out of sight most of the time.
Anyway let me know if anyone wants any pics posted, though I won't see the case (or my husband) for a week after tomorrow. Or even if anyone has questions...
