That my device doesent allow non supported apps. I click allow, it takes me to settings and I click allow unknown sources and then it does that all over again as if I never allowed unknown sources. Enabling unknown sources isn't sticking for some reason.

I'm guessing it was the file managers I was using. Totally made me feel like a noob lol. I was trying with astro and oi file manager. Tried ES file explorer and it worked. My grandmother was flipping out that I rooted her kindle and hulu wouldn't play lol.

What are you trying to do?
Using root explorer you can copy the apk to the system folder if necessary.

With a system level file manager like Root Explorer or ES Explorer with root explore enabled, copy the camera's apk to the system/app folder and then enable the permissions and reboot or hot restart your device. That *should* work for you, however, if you are trying to install it on an AOSP rom, i highly doubt it will work for you.

If you're using Root Explorer you press and hold on the apk and click permissions and check all the boxes.

Any got a guide or know how to port keyboards? Please be as detailed as possible. Or if you know how maybe you can do it for me if you'd be so kind I'm trying to port the Motorola Photon keyboard.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Normally you can just use es file manager/root explorer, go into the system/apps, find the keyboard apk, then try to install it. Perhaps get a rom from that device and then extract the apk as well.
I've tried many times it says application not installed

Please post that apk here. And I wi make it work for you. I assume it is LatinIME.apk, right?

if you get it to work can you please tell me how you did it
Thanks
here try this
What I did was sign it. Should be able to install correctly now
Whether it works or not after its installed is another story...I did not test.
Is the photon leyboard much different than the gb keyboard? I'm curious.
Btw. after you download file, don't mess with it in anyway. That will break the signture.
Thanks ill try it and post results in a bit

On adb it says something like user shared not compatible

If you have existing copy of LatinIME.apk in system/app, you need to delete it first. The signatures are different with the unsigned and signed version i posted. Please remove the apk in system/app, then try installing via adb again.

Long pressing in a text area didn't allow you to select it? Also go into settings > language and keyboards. and look for it there, as you might have to 'enable' it.
It force closes

I got the paid version of dx battery saver pro, it keeps telling me there is a new version but when I try to install it fails with " existing package name with conflicting signature" error. I've included a screen shot. Is there a way to fix this?

Uninstall the old version first?
I don't think I can, its an in app update
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
as someguyatx said why not uninstall the original?
Then reboot. Open Playstore and redownload/install it. If you paid for it, it should show as one of your applications and find the licensing info.
The updated apk will be in the apps SD card folder, uninstall app locate folder then find the apk click it and install, make sure your unknown sources is checked in security settings so u can sideload apps

Ahh, this happened on my tablet. You must have downloaded a modded version (they never work.) Does it say "Application Not Installed" with a tick beside it when you try to install it? What you need to do is Google "Play Store 3.8.15 apk" Click on one of the results and download it and then install it. If it hasn't been modded then it should install fine.

I haven't downloaded anything. The thing is that it doesn't automatically update. Please provide me the link of the working apk file or any way through which it can automatically upgrade

Oh, I see where you're confused now. No the Play Store doesn't automatically update (not on any of my devices anyway..) Here's a link: http://www.mediafire.com/?wwcqrlfwt8o1gnv
I haven't used this one specifically so tell me if it doesn't work. You'll need a file manager to install it by the way.

I tried to install a Motorola Atrix HD messaging apk from another forum thread and it wouldn't install. I did some searching to see if I needed to be rooted to install it but apparently I don't. Is there anything I can do to get it installed?

Yeah it's been checked
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Check your logcat after attempted installation to see why it didn't install. Sometimes vendor apks use libraries that are a part of the os. Porting these apks usually involves adding the missing .so files to the apk so the app can use them.
