Any got a guide or know how to port keyboards? Please be as detailed as possible. Or if you know how maybe you can do it for me if you'd be so kind I'm trying to port the Motorola Photon keyboard.

Normally you can just use es file manager/root explorer, go into the system/apps, find the keyboard apk, then try to install it. Perhaps get a rom from that device and then extract the apk as well.
I've tried many times it says application not installed

if you get it to work can you please tell me how you did it
Thanks
here try this
What I did was sign it. Should be able to install correctly now
Whether it works or not after its installed is another story...I did not test.
Is the photon leyboard much different than the gb keyboard? I'm curious.
Btw. after you download file, don't mess with it in anyway. That will break the signture.
Thanks ill try it and post results in a bit

I tired adb install unsigned
Root explorer to put unsigned apk in system/app and I also signed it and tried all the above and no go
On adb it says something like user shared not compatible
And tried your signed apk and nope

If you have existing copy of LatinIME.apk in system/app, you need to delete it first. The signatures are different with the unsigned and signed version i posted. Please remove the apk in system/app, then try installing via adb again.

After you deleted the existing file in system/app and perhaps data/app as well?

Long pressing in a text area didn't allow you to select it? Also go into settings > language and keyboards. and look for it there, as you might have to 'enable' it.
It force closes

I recently accidentally deleted my Accuweather Daemon.apk I am running Darkside v8 custom ICS. I tried to restore it by pushing it to the system/app folder and changing the permissions accordingly. However it just won't install. Even if I click it and just try to install the .Apk it just says "application not installed ". Am I missing something? Maybe a step or two? Shouldn't it be fairly straightforward since it's the. Apk that came with the Rom?

Update. Used Accuweather from Google Play and it worked! Easy enough. .

That my device doesent allow non supported apps. I click allow, it takes me to settings and I click allow unknown sources and then it does that all over again as if I never allowed unknown sources. Enabling unknown sources isn't sticking for some reason.

I'm guessing it was the file managers I was using. Totally made me feel like a noob lol. I was trying with astro and oi file manager. Tried ES file explorer and it worked. My grandmother was flipping out that I rooted her kindle and hulu wouldn't play lol.

I'm on a stock T999 which was rooted, stock, but now not bc I accepted the 4.1.1 OTA and lost root. OK I have a Mac and Heimdall doesn't work on SIII and the script method doesn't work on Jellybean so I'm going to install Windows and use Odin as soon as I can get my install discs. The weird thing is that now I get the "insufficient storage" message but just on certain large game apps. I don't know if it could be bc I removed adds via Luckypatcher and can't remove odexed App ghosts via root explorer now that I'm not root or what. The odd thing is these were games I paid for and tried to redownload, that crashed after losing root . Sorry for the long explanation I'm just trying to get a handle on what is exactly occurring here.I searched and only found threads re that error that occurred consistently. Also getting a "this device has been modified" prompt when checking for updates which is odd bc it's not rooted, but when it was this gave me an OTA? I'd love to hear if anyone has any Mac root methods I'm not aware of as well.

I tried to install a Motorola Atrix HD messaging apk from another forum thread and it wouldn't install. I did some searching to see if I needed to be rooted to install it but apparently I don't. Is there anything I can do to get it installed?
Here's the link if you want to try it yourself:

Check your logcat after attempted installation to see why it didn't install. Sometimes vendor apks use libraries that are a part of the os. Porting these apks usually involves adding the missing .so files to the apk so the app can use them.
