hi my friends my MT3GS doesn't have rom and when i want to install, i can't do it because the volume keys doesn't work how can i install the rom?
It's really difficult. My volume key broke once and the only way to apply a new ROM is to fix the key...
but if you have root already, and clockworkmod recovery, then you could use rom Manager from the market, there is an option that allows you to go to the flashing process as for what i remember.

Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
download whatever rom you want place on sdcard. Get into clockwork recovery just like when you rooted. Then use the apply zip from sd option. Make sure rom doesn't require you to flash eng rom first... Although you can get into clockwork much easier with it...

Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Did you download rom manager from market and flash recovery? Otherwise you need to put udpate file on sd card, power on with volume held down, when you get red triangle, press volume up and power button, pause and wait for menu options. Then apply update.
When in clockwork, use trackball.
Recommend you take some time and review slide bible in development section.

Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Open rom manager, flash clockwork recovery, then install rom from sd card. Click backup and wipe options. Ensure you flash eng release instructions if you have not already.

I have a rom on my sd card but when ever I go to install,I check mark the two options, but when it reboots it fails,it shows the phone on its back with a question mark above it.

How did you root then?... you must follow the same process as root... unless you flashed the ENG build
I rooted my phone from gadgetvault.com
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Yes that is the same method of rooting at taken from XDA... just follow it again... and after you do the apply update.zip it brings you to clockwork recovery... where you use the volume rocker to scroll up and down... then select install from sd... or apply from sd... whatever it says.... you have to do the whole root process over again to get there....
I did that an tried to install my rom,but it didn't work

I have tried to flash multiple different kernels now and still am having the same problem. When I flash them it says that it was installed and everything, but when I go and reboot the phone the HTC white screen and logo with just keep rebooting and reappearing and the phone just won't boot up. I've flashed both of Pershoot's roms and they both have not worked. I know it's not the roms themselves so it must be something on my end. I'm running stock out of the box rom and permarooted with visionary. Dieing to overclock and get this fixed up...any thoughts?

Well I flashed the ones that are flashable through recovery and they all give me the same problem with not being able to boot up. I saw bacon bits on rom manager but it was 0.1. What does that overclock me to?

Do you have the 'set on boot' option checked in setcpu? If so,this could be your issue.

Oh ok ya adb I know alright. And well I'm going to try shuting setup on boot on setcpu and if that doesn't work well then what's the best way to do it with adb? Also baconbits on CW is only on version 0.1. Should I do that one or is it possible to download 0.3 and put it on the root of my sd and flash it?

well vision bacon 0.3 worked and it overclocked me to 1.47. before i flashed it i unchecked "set on boot" in setcpu and am wondering if that helped also. I'm flashing back to complete stock now and then am going to try and flash pershoots 1.51 kernel and see if it works also with "set on boot" in setcpu also off and see if that was what was the problem
well unfortunately it still is happening even with "set on boot" checked off. I have no clue what could still be causing this. And what is actually even more confusing is that bacon bits works and I am now overclocked to 1.49 no problem. That's perfectly fine for me, but am just confused about why I can't just flash one itself and worried that when I want to one day when even more of them come out I won't be able to...wth

well idk if it was that one that I've tried but I have tried one of the 1.8ghz ones and it also happens with that. I don't understand how baconbits 0.3 works but any others won't? I guess i'll try the 1.8ghz one and see what happens. Idk if i'll get to it today or tomorrow but i'll post if it works or not. I'll also try pershoots off RM and see what happens.
still hasn't worked. the only way I can overclock my phone as of right now is doing it through vision baconbits 0.3. but honestly when I flashed that I was getting a bunch of force closing way way to often and as of right now I don't have anything on my g2 other then being permarooted. I'm not sure but am I supposed to mess with other stuff like voltages or something else to get the overclock to work before I flash them or after or something? I'm def between a rock and a hard shell...lol

I just have a general question question about the kernels from CW. If I did a nand from stock, and I flash one of these lovely kernels...could I use the nand re-install and get the original kernel if perchance something gets borked down the road? My thoughts are yes, but figured I'd ask. Thanks

You can have either or. if you're on clockwork 3.0+ you can't flash files that aren't edify compatible, on amon_ra you don't really have to worry about it. And if you do so, use the latest version, which is attached.
Can u tell me how flash that plz

I'm in agreement with the roxxorz. Use amon RA v2.3 and familiarize yourself with its menus. I recommend that you not use ROM manager because it is far too easy to to flash a Rom, kernel, mod or recovery from within the recovery itself. Furthermore, you have more control over the process....

Place the on the root of your sdcard, then boot into the bootloader, wait, then apply the update, reboot, then reboot into recovery and you'll be on amon_ra 2.3. Then make a backup immediately, because you can't restore clockwork backups.

Put the file on the root of your SD CARD then shutdown your device. While holding the down volume button, press the power button. You will enter the bootloader menu. A few lines of text will scroll on the screen and then the bootloader will automatically detect the PC36IMG.ZIP file and prompt you to install it. Follow the prompts to install. The installation takes less than 10 seconds. Afterwards, reboot.

He's saying you should be comfortable flashing from recovery because you can't flash everything, like a kernel, from rom manager.

Depends on the kernel. It could be back or search key.

Make sure you have recovery manually installed, either through installing the recovery itself, or flashing a kernel. Otherwise, you don't have a recovery to access at all.

You'll need to flash a new kernel to have permanent recovery, without the app method. Search the development forum for the numerous kernels.

Good call by Joe here. Installing the app does not install CWM. You have to run the app to do that. Also, I don't know if that app works if you have an unlocked bootloader.
