Rom Manager Safe or not? - Galaxy Ace S5830 Themes and Apps

Just registered as am a bit of a lurker and couldn't find any definite info on this.
I have used to have a Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 with a stock 2.3.5 rooted and no cwm
This phone got bricked after running Rom manager and using the advised option stating to flash cwm...
Anyway that turned out to be a hard brick and Jig didn't help and JTag wasn't worth the money for this phone..
Now I know this question is asked alot and there alot of topics but none seem to ensure that my version wont get bricked if I use this app (not a noob here just want to know If can use this without bricking my phone)
Currently using CM7 (7.2.0-cooper) with CWM (5.0.2.6) installed on a standard rooted sim unlocked EU Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 phone
After loading ROM manager its asking me to instal CWM which I have already done..Rom manager was pre-installed btw where Im getting a little worried to proceed as this is where my last phone got bricked..Right after clicking ok and allowing root access
Any help would be appreciated and let me know if you need any more info on my phone
Also another quick question is there are rooter apk (there so many i dont know which one is the latest or best one to use) that will root any android or at least most phones for my friends (they aren't really tech friendly)?

i wouldnt use rom manager with any samsung or at all tbh now
but it will probably brick your phone again so id say its not safe at all
and its always easier to flash a root zip to root your handset

ROM Manager is well known for causing Hard Bricks and it will probably do it with your Ace. Why you still want to use it?

Many users has a bricked Ace because of Rom Manager. I read somewhere that the one came with official CM7 can work but I havent tried. I dont want to risk my phone And I think that you should NOT try it for the safe of your Ace
DK

ROM Manager Can Be Used Without Problem AS LONG AS U DONT USE IT TO FLASH RECOVERY!

I wouldnt use it if I were you, its just not worth the risk..

[Q] HTC Desire 2.2 (froyo) stock root?

Hi!
I am total new to android, I got my HTC Desire for 2weeks now, I search the internet and on this forums and it seems to be nice to root my desire, now im a bit scared to do it, what can go wrong? Can I lost data? do I need to backup first? after I "rooted" my desire i still have the stock android 2.2 on it? (and with all my settings, messages and contacts)? my desire is an unbranded device. I heard that unrevoked 3.2 can root my device? what are the requirements for this? if I go to system information on my desire it shows that i have kernel version: 2.6.32.15-g6a358a9. So can I root my device? Do I still have warranty if I root? I got my desire for two weeks now so I don't want to brick my phone. I got a PC with windows 7 x64 and a laptop with windows 7 x32 and Ubuntu dualboot.
Can someone help me what I need to do?
(sorry for my bad English I am from Belgium)
Thanks in advance!
What software version are you on (same screen as the kernel version)? You want to make sure you can get an RUU file incase you ever need to go back to stock.
Rooting in itself won't wipe data. You will if you change ROM, though. Why do you want to root?

I took a picture so you can see all that stuff.. what you mean with i can get a RUU file? I want to root because then I can use apps2sd because i almost get always an notification that the phones memory is almost full :s so i need to remove other apps to install an other sometimes. And maybe some theme stuff but im not sure, because you need a custom rom for that right? or you think its not worth to root my desire? are there performance improvements? with stock or rooted ?
Thanks for the fast reply!

Rom manager

Well after struggling trying to understand flashing roms and what not I found the easy way..rom manager app from the market place...they do have a free version witch you do have to install regardless if your buying the premium..witch I did buy it to for support..after I perm rooted my phone I downloaded rom manager..clicked on the very first on to flash clockworkmod recovery..went down to back up current rom I named..went back into rom manager clicked download rom clicked the first one than bacon bits..to get bacon bit and overclock my phone to 1497mhz..its gonna ask you if you want to back up current rom I did not checked the box cuz I had already done it, than it gives you another box to clear the cache..witch I did check the box..let it do its thing took another 5 min..after it rebooted I was all done..but I did have to download all my apps again..unless if your google backup just downloads them for you..and now I just finished flashing the htc sense on my g2..everything work really nice..and the cool part is that all you have to do is go into your rom manager app..click on manage and restore back ups and you could just switch on whatever rom you want..if I want to be running froyo ot htc sense..one click away..really nice

That's awesome but u are preaching to the choir. Well some of us. I'm thinking about buying the paid version. I think it lets u download rom updates. U should check out titianium backup. One click restores apps and app data. I have the paid version one click restore.

Lol..na wasnt preaching...but thanx I'm gonna download titanium back up..its just I'm a new to flashing roms and stuff and this is easy for me
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
IT should be stated that Apps ONLY should be installed from one rom to a DIFFERENT rom.
DATA is highly NOT recommended to be copied over.
Data transfer is the reason most roms dont run properly after being installed.
Using appbrain is the way to go, IMHO
buy the full verson it is worth every penny ive had since my g1 but it keep unrooting my g1 for some reason so used amon ra recovery but if you r on a g2 now the full version is a must have!

@Shark_On_Land Hey man!!! I would go step by step back to the forums and just read, i just got done installing my first rom after rooting, etc.. etc took me 8 hours but learned ALOT,... got a few boot screens with big red triangle a few times but hung in there... Point is i missed several steps and didnt write a post, cuz like the small tutorial said in the beginning someone else most likely already had your problem. If not then I hope you get the help u need soon... aside from all that XDA ROCKS!! ty guys!!
I would back up any/all data (nandroid+Titanium), then flash a rooted ROM after doing a full wipe, then your caches of course. It sounds like you are using the ROM that came with your phone. You can get into RA Recovery can you?
Not sure what your saying here. Your not the OP. But I take your post is intended for the OP so I won't make a snarky remark.
Congrats btw.

Look at the "flash" link in my signature. Step-by-step and n00b friendly.

[Q] What Next after rooting

Just want to say this my first time rooting a device etc, this is pretty new to me. So I followed the steps in this thread to root my totally stock Sprint LGOG ZV9. I rooted with no problem. No I just want to know do I need to backup my current config, what software would I use. Also was the boot loader unlocked. I Just want to make sure that I do exactly what is supposed to be done correctly. Are there custom roms for lgog currently.
Just an image showing phone was rooted

Phone firmware info
Oh just figured Id show some great 4g speeds I get from Sprint at my house !! These speeds are very consistent at my house and you can see there isnt anu WIFI on just my Sprint Data. I am moving in the next month or so though. Its crazy where internet speed has come in the last 10 years.
4.1.2 Jelly Bean has been released for this phone now, I'd start by getting that. check out the LGOG development forums to flash a stock version of it or I think Lifeless ROM also has Jelly Bean incorporated now.

After rooting you can choose to unlock your bootloader to flash better code or custom roms to your device, or download and run apps that would require root like root explorer or setcpu to change how your device works.
Unlocking is a whole different ballgame. It allows to flash custom kernels and roms. Like spatel said, 4.1.2 is out and if you unlock and flash TWRP or CWM, you can make a backup of your current phone system, data, efs, cache and then flash 4.1.2 to your phone to see if you like it or not. You can flash the new ZVB radio and possibly improve your signal. It all depends on what your comfortable with. Also, it depends on your interests and whether you're into theming or developing and rooting is just one of those precursors.
Currently there are a few roms based on stock but some AOSP roms will follow now that some source is available to developers. From what I understand, the efs contains important device info and is currently breaking with AOSP roms attempts but I'm sure the devs are making progress on it. If anything check the threads and stickies for a lot more info. There's a wealth of info out there and Google is your friend lol
