Random restarts? How to restore. - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have one Wildfire. What i did:
- made backup of my stuff
- diwnloaded Revolutionary and rooted device
- flash CWM recovery
- flash new ROM
Now i have some restarts, i tried a few roms but only original works ok. I dled RUU and now i have hboot 0002, and i cant downgrade device etc. Did i miss any step (htcdev unlock)?

Dont use HTCdev tool. We have almost no experience with that tool and there isn't much support for it. And u cant flash radio when needed.
But what roms did u try and when did it reboot?
As far as i know u can downgrade hboot 0002, just look in the index thread or dev forum

Yeah i saw about downgrade... But goldencard dont works, and after reboot i still have 0002. I didnt use HTCDEV (but i'm every time more confused, Sensation i had to use htcdev, One X i had to use htcdev....). I will try one more time.
How do i get rid of revolutonary sign in bootloader? Or in other words how to completly restore phone. And start again the whole process?

A ruu set you back to complete stock. If u still see revolutionary than the ruu didnt work fully. Try another one maybe

I already flashed ICS ROM. It sucks, BIG TIME. Now i'm flashing Aresenal v1.1 ROM. No restarts so far. And THIS phone sucks, after all HDs, Sensatios, One X and S. This is ****.
Thanks on help

Haha what did u expect from a low end device XD we are already glad that we can run ics and soon jb on our device. Use cm7 based roms for a good experience or better froyo (still the fastest, my opinion).
Hazou

Just for completeness: unlocking a Wildfire with htcdev doesn't give you s-off but a bootloader you can't downgrade anymore - that seems to be confirmed as of now.
So, are you s-off or not? I'm not sure if you got the whole procedure right.

I didit allready. Soff revolutionary and i flash some light rom. Phone works fine. But us big crap (thank god phone isn't mine)...

Downgrade Hboot 6.93.0002 to 0.93.0001?

I had 2.3.3 oficial update. I used revolutionary to s-off (with the oficial update i had 1.02.0001 hboot and after s-off i had 6.93.0002 hboot). After s-off i ran the shipped RUU and i am still s-off and 6.93.0002 hboot.
Is there a way to get back to 0.93.0001?
1) alpharev.nl is a website read each line of it
2) u have to read xda every day to understand all, then u can do things like root, s-off, custom roms...otherwise is better u enjoy ur stock phone as is

'' First rename the Bravo downgrader.zip to PB99IMG run it in HBOOT MODE, not recovry mode, aply the update, than you hboot will chance to '' ... 9999 '' , after that i had a RUU ZIPFILE, rename that also to PB99IMG run in HBOOT mode and you're done, yoo i learn this as wel!,

So did this bring your phone back to S-ON after you ran the RUU?
Aha it did work thanks

But how do I flash the downgrader??. If I double click on the downgrader it asks me what I want to use to burn the file?.
I am trying to get my wifes desire to have a custom rom as it keeps saying she is low on memory. I have used revolutionary to change from hboot 1.02 to 6.93 with s off but now do not have a clue what to do. I have been trying to read up on what to do all day but everything speaks as though I should know exactly what to do from the off!.
Give me my HD2 any day!!! lol
Any help would be much appreciated.

Download the img, rename it to PB99IMG.img and place it on the root of your sdcard. Then boot into hboot (while the phone is off, press volume down + power button), click vol up button to apply update and again to reboot. Now its flashed. Then you can continue with the RUU.

Why do you want to do that?
There is a downgrader.img on the alpharev website which if you fastboot flash it to replace the existing hboot, will then allow you to use a RUU. Choose a RUU that has the hboot you want and run it. Of course this will unroot your phone. What is your actual aim here?
Downgrade from HBOOT 6.93.0002 to 0.93.0001
Guys, if you ORIGINALLY had 0.93.00001 and ran the Revolutionary S-OFF program, it WILL update your HBOOT to 6.93.0002. This is a GOOD thing, you'll still be S-OFF'd but you'll be running the Gingerbread HBOOT version. It's always better to have the newer version of the HBOOT than the older version. As long as you're S-OFF'd, it really doesn't matter which HBOOT version you have, I just recommend the newer version. Thanks!

For your information, GB Hboot is 1.02.0001 not 6.93.0002. 6.93.0002 is revolutionary hboot and if htc sees that highly likely they will not place it under warranty.

you cant do that, but you can go to http://revolutionary.io and flash a custom hboot, then you can decide if you want to:
1) Flash the downgrader.img and run a Froyo RUU to remain stock OR
2) Flash custom recovery (and root or flash custom ROM)

I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Windows Installation
0. Install HTC Sync (driver required).
1. Extract the downloaded zip file fully (do not just click on the zip file).
2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. Ensure 'ask me' is set under 'Connect to PC' setting with 'charge only'. Plug in your phone.
3. Double-click on the win-down file.
4. Follow instructions and wait.
I also used this one, don't know if it is the same

If I didn't use the right method, please let me know and explain me if possible.

Essentially, all you can do is fastboot flash hboot downgrade.img then RUU again.

Stock ROM HTC Sync HBOOT change?

Hi, i am wondering about changing to a stock rom on my brothers HTC desire.
I do not need root or custom rom on this phone right now, but maybe in the future.
It is an ICS custom rom on it today and HBOOT 0.93. With root and maybe S-OFF.
I am a little afriad to utdate/downgrade to stock rom because i have read several places that if the HBOOT updates to newer than 0.93 i will not be able to root the phone later.
But i read this was via OTA, I will be using HTC Sync for the update.
This will be my phone number 2 and i just want everything to work, newer rom functions is not that important.
I hope anyone will give me some help, becase this phone is WAY more difficult to root and customize than my SGS.
Thanks i advance

Don't worry, every hboot can be hacked. Only 1.03 is a little dodgy, but running an official update will give you at most 1.02 hboot that's easy to handle with revolutionary.

I wonder if i perhaps should go for the pre rooted stock rom from this forum instead.
It should work just as nice as the stock HTC sync rom?

Also i am a little unsure about how important radio is.
I have a different radio on it today than the rom required.
A have read the noob proof guide but i didnt undersdtand how to flash the radio, can it be done in clockworkmod recovery?
On om my SGS all this can be done in either odin or clockworkmod, so i wonder if this can be done in CWM for the desire too, because it is already rooted and HBOOT'ed?
Many thanks.
radio can be flashed through CWM recovery but only v2.5.0.7 or older. best to flash it via fastboot commands. click adb & fastboot in my sig for a guide

HEEELP!
I may have a big problem.
I found out that the phone was S-ON and followed the Noob proof guide using alpharev to S-OFF it.
The 2 first steps went fine but step number 3 will not start
On the computer i just says, "waiting for flashing to complete".
But it never starts on the phone.
It also say on the computer that if i turn of the phone now it will be bricked, i dont wanna brick it.
What should i do????!?
****. I waited for an hour like the noob proof guide said i should and the i pulled the plug.
But now my phone will not boot into android. Just goes straight to fastboot mode.
What are my choices now?

2.3 RUU via HTC sync or via fastboot? Or via the lin from your signature?
Sorry for being noobish, i just havent gotten the hang of this HTC way of doing it yet
In my signature is only a way how to obtain it. When you download it, it's .exe file packed in zip archive. Unpack it and run from yout PC. Make sure you have HTC sync installed on your PC prior running ruu.

[Q] Unlocking bootloader & warranty

Hey,
I have just a small question. I want to root my HTC One X and a few months ago when I was checking XDA it was needed unlock bootloader via HTC Dev. My question is if it is still necessary to unlock phone via HTCDev to do successful root or if its another way cause I don't wanna lose warranty on my device.
Greetings
Michal
No other way, you have to do it with htcdev and yes it could void some warranty.
u have to go to HTC-dev to obtain unlocking code but u can use this tool 4 rooting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439 ... btw this tool is noob friendly just read carefully... and I DONT RECOMEND anything else but rooting since there is an update to arrive ( i made a mistake by installing CWM , and 4 update is needed stock recovery and locked bootloader ) ( i had my ass off arround here to remake things backward ))
on the note of updates. Beware once you upgrade your hboot you can't go back. Unless you have an S-OFF device that allows you to downgrade your hboot version. And Jellybean sense rom is not worthwhile all the trouble honestly.

Hi,
it depends on which sense Rom you're talking abouit. Some are 100% working :good:
Anyway, as said below, if you upgarde Hboot to 1.31, you won't be able to downgrade exept if you have S-OFF.
Hboot 1.31 doesn't mean you can not try other ics Roms.
My 2cent ...
I'm not talking about the jelly sense being 100% working or not. I'm talking about having hboot upgrade which makes it a hassle if you want to flash ics roms. and the performance isn't something that is out of the ordinary anyway. Unless you really love sense that much

@miczk: Unlocking = loosing warranty. That's weird I know
Thanks for responds,
my goal is Cyanogenmod or MIUI which I loved while I was using Desire. I have some piece of experience with rooting and flashing etc so its not a huge problem for me.
The new thing is that I have to flash every time a new bootloader img. On Desire I flashed CM7 r2 and everything ran smoothly. Now Its gonna be a bit more complicated. I also see something about kernels, is there any need to flash custom kernels or everything will be ok without them?
If I use the All-in-one Toolkit it will unlock my bootloader, root phone, flash recovery? After that I will just update bootlader via command prompt, restart it and flash ROM via recovery?

update bootloader? you mean hboot version? If you want to update your hboot version then you should stay locked and update the official one. That way you don't have to unlock and re lock again. If you want to use CM or MIUI you don't need to upgrade your hboot . It would render your GPS useless. Though it's still your choice. Since jelly sense people are all on the hype about how fast it is and how smooth it is. lol. All I see is placebo.
And yes it is a bit of a hassle with the S-ON where we have to manually flash the boot img via fastboot, sigh. And as far as using custom kernel it is 100% your choice too. You can stick with the stock kernel provided by the rom or use other custom kernels. But from the amount of reading I have been seeing. The stock isn't really optimised for anything.
As for the toolkit I never bothered with it. I prefer I do it myself rather than relying on a toolkit and not know what's gonna happen while it runs. You might want to ask to the toolkit thread about it or read the thread.

No, I mean update bootloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817633 --> step 5 = Fastboot flash boot boot.img ). For example MIUI reqiures to flash custom bootloder, not HBOOT. I dont wanna upgrade HBOOT cause i guess its not necessary for my reqiuments. Also I think that S-OFF is useless for my intention.

No, a boot.img is a kernel. We have to flash kernels through fastboot since we don't have s-off
