Hi everyone,
Actually, I should begin by asking, is the screen on our phone (the gorilla glass) user replaceable? As it approach its one year anniversary, my phone has started accumulating a serious amount of scratches and defects on the screen. I have one dot crack (a miniscule indentation as though made by a very strong needle), two superficial scratches caused by a slight brush against a stainless steel object, and various other wear and tear minor scuffs. I didn't mind the dot crack and scuffs, but the stainless steel scratch is pretty visible and started annoying me so I'd really like to replace the screen.
Now if it is user replaceable, anybody know where i can get a real replacement screen? I'd like to have an exact gorilla glass replacement screen. Pls advice if anybody knows where to get one. Thank you.

Oh the screen is gorilla glass. Its been confirmed by LG itself on their forum. There's a thread here regarding it too.
So it is replaceable? Hmm.... that is good. Thank you Now just to find a replacement screen.

Yes, it IS replaceable, but I haven't seen any good guide for doing it for this phone. By the way, you are talking about the digitizer, not the screen.

Wait, I'm confused lol. What I want to replace is the upper most layer where I directly touch. I thought that was the screen, the glass. Now I'm confused between what is called screen and digitizer lol.

Well "screen" is kind of ambiguous. The part you are talking about is called the digitizer, but could also be called the "touchscreen". However, "screen" also can be used to describe the display (LCD). For clarity's sake, most people call them "digitizer" and "display" so it's clear which part you are talking about!

Thank you very much for the clarification! Now I know what to look for. Another thing I was wondering, I guess the moment i replaced the digitizer, dust will get in between the display n the digitizer then am I correct? I'll have to work in a vacuum environment lol.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to make it look as good as new.
You probably should watch some tutorial videos on YouTube for how to replace the digitizer on another similar phone to see sort of what it entails. It sucks that no one seems to have made a guide for the P930 specifically though, at least I can't find one anywhere.

To minimize the amount of dust on your phone while replacing the screen, try working on the sink near the shower after the shower, while all the steam is still there. Its how you minimize dust on your screen while installing screen protectors so it would help while you replacing the screen.

There is no video on how to replace the digitizer, but there is a pretty nice tear-down guide I followed when I had to replace mine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613813
When you buy the digitizer, keep in mind that it is SO much easier to get one with the housing included instead of replacing the glass in the original housing, although that IS possible. If you replace the housing, make 100% sure you get the housing for your specific model. I found out the hard way that the housing for the SU640 looks exactly the same as the housing for the P930... except for where the screw holes are.
Also, I don't know if the replacement I bought was Gorilla Glass or not... all I know is that it was an OEM replacement but that most certainly doesn't mean it was Gorilla Glass.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna have to contemplate on doing it or not. The price itself almost makes me not want to do it unless it is completely broken, but with some minor scratches , I can just wait until my upgrade time arrives.
On the side note, if the optimus G ends up a great phone, do u think arcee will work on it as well? I'm hoping that phone will arrive in att by the time my upgrade is available.

I'm sure Ricardo will be all over that amazingly spec'd device. LG sends him devices to dev on, so I'm sure this will be no different. I'm simply amazed the guy finds time for it all.

Hi, i've changed my screen 2 months ago, and i can tell you that is better that you buy the screen with the digitalizer and the frame. All the kit, then search some video on youtube about disassembly and in 1 hour you will have your phone running again, it's easier than seems, you'll sure for that.

You can try to change just the digitalizer, but is riskie, so i you broke the screen, then you can order the entire kit, so, don't worry!

Yep ok so yes the best way is to replace both digitizer and lcd at the same time, after applying a small amount of pressure to stick the 2 together i put a small crack into the lcd (ggggrrrrrr) ( literally the smallest amount of pressure) so that was really good advice there.
I will be purchasing a new lcd as i do enjoy this phone..
many thanks for the offer of buying it. yes the micro usb works fine, if it appears that i am unable to fix it i will be more than happy to sell it......
Bottom Line Replace both Digitizer and lcd and even housing if poss at the same time....
thanks for your advice and suggestions.
Hi everyone,
I've managed to crack my white plastic band on My HTC One .
So I was wondering what does it need to have it repaired ? Is is possible to change the white plastic band only
or do I need to replace the whole back, too ?
Any idea about the costs ?
Iirc, the band is part of the backplate. Also, look up the price of a backplate on amazon or eBay, and then find someone who could give a labor estimate or find out how to do it yourself.

I always thought I was reading the white fill in is some type of metal?
Can you get us a pic by chance I'm very curious what it looks like.
I'd prob call HTC about it, depending on how it happened.
Is there even a way to take apart the one yet? I remember reading somewhere that it requires a special tool or else you will damage the metal trying to get it apart.

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that someone used white caulk and rubbed it into a crack they had on the white part of their One and they showed before and after pictures and you couldn't even tell that there was ever a crack.

Hi Josh,
Can you please find that link for me, please ?
That white part is not metal, is some sort of had plastic/polimer which cracks - I saw another 2 phones which have small cracks.
Hi all, apologies if this has been covered, I did a search but didn't find anything.
I have an HTC one with a cracked digitizer and I am planning on trying to fix it myself (I like a challenge!)
However, I am struggling with which parts to buy. I live in UK and all of the sellers on eBay seem to be on Hong Kong or China and the parts do not seem to be OEM. I am concerned about the quality of non-OEM parts.
Does anyone know of some genuine sellers in the UK/Europe? If you know of somewhere better in the US then I'm happy to pay postage as long as it's genuine.
Also, there are a lot of listings for digitizer only - I cannot find any recorded method of removing the digitizer from the LCD so I assume I should stay clear of them?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Find a HTC Carepoint. They have them but i don't know if they sel them. A repair ad mine shop wil cost you €240,-
@stumark man that's gonna be a tough thing to find. In order to get original parts your either going to have to get it to a HTC repair shop or buy an m7 for parts and rip of the front housing. I just bought the full housing so I can change mine from silver to black but I have not seen any official screens. I can give you the links to some I found in the US if you want tho.

I'm interested in doing the same- changing from silver to black. I'm curious how did it go, did you manage to swap the casing/display without damaging it? I saw some vids on YouTube about it.. looks pretty messy..
I bought my housing from this guy http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Si...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item51b4c6527e
U think it only can be original if it comes from us or uk? where do you think this is made?

Hi,
I have a htc m7 with a cracked digitizer and I want to repair it.
I know that the best is to change the digitizer and the screen together(like this one for example), but I saw this video and others to replace the digitizer only and it seems easy.
Did anyone already tried to replace the glass?
I thought it was needed to unglue the screen from the glass and glue it again, but I didn't found much information about this.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Yes, i did it my self and if you going to replace the lcd you shouldn't be worry much :victory:
my recommendation it to remove the SIM stick first then, start to insert the tool between the upper lip of the SIM port and the Black lcd frame :good:
then start to pop out the lcd from the the back cover BY moving the tool around the phone.
the bottom speaker grill can be removed easily, but the upper one has a screw from inside from the left side only.
you will find some youtube video, but my recomendation to start from the upper lip of the SIM port

I mentioned to start from the sim side not the volume side.
I dropped my tablet the other day and the screen cracked. Fortunately it didn't affect the "digitizer" (I think it's called). The whole screen still works. No dark spots and the touch screen still works even where it's cracked.
My question is, dies anybody know a reputable place that fixes this? Or, if I can do it myself, what's a good site where I can buy new glass?
Thanks everyone.
P.S. I just got off the phone with Samsung Parts and they wanted $268.78 for the screen!! That's about more than half the price of buying a brand new one! Or a newer model at that! Hopefully someone out there has a cheaper solution to this. Thanks.

here is 1 for cheaper, you can just look around before you buy one.your probably better off replacing the screen and digitizer cause its hard to take the the glue off, unless you know how to do it.There are also places that fix cracked screens so i would look around your area.
Here are 2 places that sell screens.
