Hi everyone,
I've managed to crack my white plastic band on My HTC One .
So I was wondering what does it need to have it repaired ? Is is possible to change the white plastic band only
or do I need to replace the whole back, too ?
Any idea about the costs ?
Iirc, the band is part of the backplate. Also, look up the price of a backplate on amazon or eBay, and then find someone who could give a labor estimate or find out how to do it yourself.

I always thought I was reading the white fill in is some type of metal?
Can you get us a pic by chance I'm very curious what it looks like.
I'd prob call HTC about it, depending on how it happened.
Is there even a way to take apart the one yet? I remember reading somewhere that it requires a special tool or else you will damage the metal trying to get it apart.

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that someone used white caulk and rubbed it into a crack they had on the white part of their One and they showed before and after pictures and you couldn't even tell that there was ever a crack.

Hi Josh,
Can you please find that link for me, please ?
That white part is not metal, is some sort of had plastic/polimer which cracks - I saw another 2 phones which have small cracks.

I saw this on ebay and was wondering if anyone thought of maybe buying this and converting your black outer screen into the white version...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280893678197?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
For $17.89, I am tempted but don't want to risk cracking my screen in the process or damage anything else...
Seems like a lot of work to risk breaking your phone when you can just buy a white phone..

i tried doing that on my EVO a while back and it did not work so good, feels like i had a LIL openinig because dust kept going inside, make sure its HIGH quality so u dont suffer like i did havening to open it up and clean dust once in a while
Complete video found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f9pJTltvZ0
HOWEVER-The seller even states "this lens not include the digitizer flex cable, change this lens is very difficult."
I'd say unless you have the skills or know someone or a place that has experience, don't attempt. You will most likely end up paying for insurance or a new one
Just buy white frame on eBay

Hi Guys,
From youtube videos (I know great source of info) it seems that removing back cover on HOX is quite easy.
So two questions come to mind first one no one makes entire back cover replacements in many colours?
Also anyone know where I could get the least original white back cover?
I want to sell my HOX and camera lens is scratched. Does not interfer with pictures due to location of it but still.
Cheers,
Luka
I found a lot of them when looking for a black and white one.

it's not that simple!!
at first you will void your warranty as soon as you detach the cover...then believe me that it's very difficult and you could damage the inner frame or other components, since there's a lot of glue that make you feel the phone very solid in your hands...
but believe me that it's a real pain to change the cover...the most difficult part of opening your phone...
however you should do it just if it's stricly necessary imho...
Nah it's really easy. Takes 10 mins to switch over. There is no glue really. For the most part it is clipped on.
I say go for it. I got my white original cover off ebay for £30.
my camera lens also got little scratched. Is there any chance to replace it only? anyone with the same problem?

Maybe we have different version of One X...
I repaired my touchscreen and my htc was full of glue and sticker anywhere...it was the hardest part for me to detach the cover!
However could you tell me where to buy a black one low cost and new?
Thank you!
You got your white original cover off ebay for £30, can u provide the link of the stuff here?
I would be very happy if i could change my display since its screwed haha...and dont change the back cover, take one of those silikon cases

i bought one too, replacement is a little difficulty but it looks like new
Thx guys, got one in post from link provided. Now wait till Lumia 920 and htc 8x are available for sale to choose one and sell One X

My One X has a creaking corner, where the original back cover seems to give in a little. Any guesses if getting a replacement (because the camera lens also has a few scratches) would help? Maybe the fit would be better... or is the creaking problem something related to how the phone itself sits inside the cover, and getting a new back would be pointless?
Has someone experiences with cases from Hong Kong?
They are cheaper and include the SIM Tray...

After putting the whole thing back together, doesn't the phone start creaking, especially at the bottom part?
No
Opened mine 2 times and the bottom fits better than when it came out of the box.
Only opened it to clean the camera lens from inside and always used the same cover it came with.

Great! That's really nice to hear.
Changed mine from black to white... After changing, my phone is more solid then the out-of-the-box black... Wifi reception is better... Needa change it after my friend knocked my hand while crossing the road... Screen is intact and unscathed though...

anyone have their old grey one and want to sell it?
Hi
I have a little problem, I droped my HOX and now it has a little scratch on bottom, you cant even see it, but I know it is there. So did someone ever replaced whole back cover? And another reason for that is that I kinda want white HOX and i have black Can you give me the link where to buy it and is it hard to replace it?

Yep did mine from a shop on eBay - just search.
Took 10 mins to change. It was surprisingly easy. I went from grey to white. Hardest part is remembering to move the speaker circuit.
Hi all, apologies if this has been covered, I did a search but didn't find anything.
I have an HTC one with a cracked digitizer and I am planning on trying to fix it myself (I like a challenge!)
However, I am struggling with which parts to buy. I live in UK and all of the sellers on eBay seem to be on Hong Kong or China and the parts do not seem to be OEM. I am concerned about the quality of non-OEM parts.
Does anyone know of some genuine sellers in the UK/Europe? If you know of somewhere better in the US then I'm happy to pay postage as long as it's genuine.
Also, there are a lot of listings for digitizer only - I cannot find any recorded method of removing the digitizer from the LCD so I assume I should stay clear of them?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Find a HTC Carepoint. They have them but i don't know if they sel them. A repair ad mine shop wil cost you €240,-
@stumark man that's gonna be a tough thing to find. In order to get original parts your either going to have to get it to a HTC repair shop or buy an m7 for parts and rip of the front housing. I just bought the full housing so I can change mine from silver to black but I have not seen any official screens. I can give you the links to some I found in the US if you want tho.

I assumed that I would need to buy the full housing but I cannot find one that seems genuine. So if you have found some that you know are genuine then some links would be great, thanks

I'm interested in doing the same- changing from silver to black. I'm curious how did it go, did you manage to swap the casing/display without damaging it? I saw some vids on YouTube about it.. looks pretty messy..
I bought my housing from this guy http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Si...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item51b4c6527e
U think it only can be original if it comes from us or uk? where do you think this is made?

I'd recommend etradesupply.com also. Bought iPhone replacement digitizer there and it worked awesome.
Hi,
I have a htc m7 with a cracked digitizer and I want to repair it.
I know that the best is to change the digitizer and the screen together(like this one for example), but I saw this video and others to replace the digitizer only and it seems easy.
Did anyone already tried to replace the glass?
I thought it was needed to unglue the screen from the glass and glue it again, but I didn't found much information about this.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Diogo

Yes, i did it my self and if you going to replace the lcd you shouldn't be worry much :victory:
my recommendation it to remove the SIM stick first then, start to insert the tool between the upper lip of the SIM port and the Black lcd frame :good:
then start to pop out the lcd from the the back cover BY moving the tool around the phone.
the bottom speaker grill can be removed easily, but the upper one has a screw from inside from the left side only.
you will find some youtube video, but my recomendation to start from the upper lip of the SIM port

I think you should remove the sim slot first. I messed up mine trying to take out the back case and also messed up the volume up button. [emoji35]

I mentioned to start from the sim side not the volume side.
Does anyone know what part is required to replace the back plastic part at top of phone which has the power button within it please? It's cracked at the left most end.

Have you tried e-bay? I've seen people buy the speaker covers there. Maybe someone had that part as well.
How the hell did it crack. Just wondering so I don't do it.
EDIT - just looked on ebay and it appears that if you buy a new back cover the picture looks as if the part you need is included. I'd ask the seller first though.
Just search HTC One M8 parts.

Yeah I since found out that's the part I need after reading the iFixit guide.
I'm not sure exactly how I did it, I've dropped it once and although it was in a case, the impact must have been enough to crack the plastic.
The fix doesn't look too hard actually. Hardest part is warming up the glue holding the speaker grilles. Rest is simple guitar pick prising apart.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Chris, That sucks. I dropped my phone the 3rd day I had it, without a case on and the only thing that happened is some very small scratches on the edge bezel. I would have never noticed them if I hadn't have been building a model (hobby) and was painting with my detail magnification glasses on and my phone rang. I looked at iFixit before I decided on the M8 because this is the first phone without a removable battery and I wanted to know how hard it would be to open it up and replace stuff. They make is sound so hard but I think it doesn't look that hard after getting the glue soft.
Good luck and let us know how the repair goes. :good:
