Oh, man, am I looking forward to this phone.
I'm currently on an Optimus V on Virgin Mobile for $35 a month.
A Note II would be a heck of an upgrade!
However, I want to have the absolute cheapest plan possible for this phone.
What my original plan was was to pre order from US Cellular on contract, then cancel it for $150.
Then I'd unlock it and use it on T-Mobile monthly4G for $30 a month.
Possible plan?
Better suggestions?
Let's talk.

US Cellular is a CDMA network, no? If you want to use it on t-mobile, I'd highly advise you to get the T-Mobile version. That'd be the only one to take advantage of t-mobile's frequencies.
Great point. Is there an affordable T-Mobile Individual Plan?

I recently bought this SGS2 off Craigslist. My current plan has no data. I was just wondering if T-Mobile will add a data plan to my existing account if I insert my T-Mobile simcard in. Hence I don't need a data plan because I'm always around wifi. Thanks.

Yep you prolly have pay per use data (1.99 per mbb) you can have it blocked if you call CC. And just use wifi
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I'd also be very very very cautious buying on Craig's list. If the seller bought the phone on an installment plan and quit paying for the phone/bill tmo will block the imei... pm me if you want me to look up the imei to check if its blocked or you can call customer care to check as well. Sometimes takes a month or two before it actually gets blocked if they account is still open. This is becoming an epidemic for tmo phones on Craigslist
I work as a sales rep we can look it up if you were wondering how I could check

Yes, there is: use the phone in the early morning or late at night.

When did you start your contract and if you keep pushing it you can but is a lot calls for it to get you out free in the other hand the price of the GN should be enough to get out of ETF( that's what I did)

i just renewed last month. dam so sell the phone for 300 and that should pay the eft fee.
As has been posted here and all over the web several thousand times, Sprint's 3G data speeds are terrible pretty much nationwide. They have a few markets that are ok, but many aren't

flash a Verizon prl on your phone and consume alot of data and sprint will boot you after a month or two of alot of roaming etf free. Its what I am doing.

I would do that as well. But I have three phones on one account and that means buying all new phones and 2gnexs and an epic 4g won't pay for new phones and contracts. Unfortunately I'll have to deal with it. Until LTE hits me. At least I hope it does.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
this is precisely why i'm leaving Sprint and going to T-Mobile. the 4G Wimax is fast (5000kbps) but none of the newer Sprint phones are using Wimax anymore and Sprint's 3G is crawling at <500kbps. Can't wait to activate my nexus on T-Mobile when my SIM comes in!

The only problem I had with it was on the unlimited everything plan for $50, they booted me when they found out I wasn't using a dumb phone but that was after trying to download a ROM haha. Switching to another European phone put data right back on.

So all this time I thought that Straight Talk was ATT strictly.. til my bro in law just told me I can purchase a T mobile Sim Card and use it.
http://www.shopstraighttalk.com/bpd...cards&zip=32707&market=GSM5&locale=en&lang=EN
45$, unlimited text mins and web, no contract. Does anyone have this Straight Talk plan with a t mobile sim card?
If so, what kind of Web Speeds do they offer? Is it T mobiles Hspa 42.2 mbps 4g or what?
Also is it truly unlimited web? or do they throttle after certain GB of use?

Just to confirm straight Talk does have limits on their "unlimited web"
They just don't specifically tell you when.. But when they do feel like you've used too much data they just throttle you. That's an email from them.

How much does it cost you a month?..I'm on straight talk and do far i like it but haven't really used it on the road yet..
I had Sprint last week and decided to get rid of them cause their data speeds was soooo bad.. so far though I'm happy with straight talk. The girl i bought my phone off she mentioned simple mobile which runs of T-Mobile towers. And idea about them?..

well, I am using simple Mobile $60. unlimited everything, but they throttle you when they feel you are using too much data. max speed I got around 16 Mb, by the way I live in Houston.

You're probably on the unlimited data with 5gb of 4g then after 5gb they throttle you.
But now t mobile has a data plan that is supposed to be truly unlimited.. No throttle

You sir, are correct.

I've been using Straight Talk with the T-Mobile compatible sim for about 4 months now and I've never been throttled. I regularly use around 6-8gb of data a month and have never had any trouble. Speeds are exactly on par with what you get on T-Mobile.
However, there are rumblings of Straight Talk throttling on the AT&T compatible sim card.

Sent from my Goonified Paranoid Jelly Droid Incredible 2
Goon is right, you will have to pay full retail for the phone if you don't want to renew your contract. Contract renewal = limited data.
Also if you have another account with an upgrade you could use that and switch phones. Or acquire the phone via 3rd party and activate it.

Yes, you can but only if you buy a phone off contract. Meaning you cant buy a new phone from Verizon for $200 and stay on unlimited data. You would either have to buy a new phone retail ($700) or buy a used LTE phone.
Can get cheaper on Craigslist and eBay !

You would have to flash it to the carrier can't remember how off the top of my head but it can be flashed to cricket and metro...
It can be flashed to pretty much any cdma network, cricket, straight talk, metro pcs, etc. It just cant be used on any major network like sprint, t-mobile, at&t, us cellular, etc. It sometimes requires a donor phone from the network your switching to, and always requires some time and technical knowledge to program it. There are also several online and mom and pop phone shops that will do it for you for a fee of anywhere from $50 to a $100.
Thanks for your help. I'm selling my Dinc and it was asked if it could be done.
Thanks again
